  I have been working in the enterprise Java field, mostly for financial institutions, for about seven years. Beyond core Java, what are "parts" of Java I should know by now? Should as in it will be useful either to nail the interview, or in an actual job. For example, I have never used JSP beyond "hello, world", but I don't suppose that it's something I need to go learn. But I have got core Spring pretty well done. I've read up on GC but that was a while back and need to re-visit it. I'm looking for one suggestion per post please.

  I just got a new laptop with Windows 8 pre-installed and I'm trying to make a dual boot with Ubuntu on my other hard drive but I can't make the Live USB work. I followed all the procedure for disabling the Security Boot and the UEFI setting but still doesn't work. It seems to start the installing procedure but I never get to choose anything: after a few seconds the screen turns black with an error message [18.707838] divide error: 0000 [#1] SMP (it goes on for several lines quoting some nouveau problem). Any ideas?

Is there a free software program that I can install on my Ubuntu server to give me secure shell access via a web-interface?   Someday, my leader told me that don't reinvent the wheels, use framework built-in classes. (with a serious mood) when I implement some algorithm has been supported by .NET fx. And seriously, I didn't know about these support before, cause this is the first time I work with .NET). So I have this questions. For example, for building an Web-App we have some ways: C# with ASP.NET framework Java with JavaEE (and friends like Struts, Spring v.v.) framework. PHP with Zend framework. ... It just takes about 1 months to learn language (C#, Java, PHP...), BUT learning to use a framework effectively takes you at least SOME YEARS working (to know every bit of code has been built-in). So, how do you learn to use effectively 2 (or more) frameworks? Any ideas are welcome!

  I am developing a web app and I have currently written the entire website in html/js/css and on the backend I have servlets that host some RESTFUL services. All the presentation logic is done through getting json objects and modifying the view through javascript. The application is essentially a search engine, but it will have user accounts with different roles. I've been researching some frameworks such as Play and Spring. I'm fairly new to web development, so I was wondering what advantages using server side page rendering would provide? Is it: Speed? Easier development and workflow? Access to existing libraries?
