  • Java - Save video stream from Socket to File

    - by Alex
I use my Android application for streaming video from phone camera to my PC Server and need to save them into file on HDD. So, file created and stream successfully saved, but the resulting file can not play with any video player (GOM, KMP, Windows Media Player, VLC etc.) - no picture, no sound, only playback errors. I tested my Android application into phone and may say that in this instance captured video successfully stored on phone SD card and after transfer it to PC played witout errors, so, my code is correct. In the end, I realized that the problem in the video container: data streamed from phone in MP4 format and stored in *.mp4 files on PC, and in this case, file may be incorrect for playback with video players. Can anyone suggest how to correctly save streaming video to a file? There is my code that process and store stream data (without errors handling to simplify): // getOutputMediaFile() returns a new File object DataInputStream in = new DataInputStream (server.getInputStream()); FileOutputStream videoFile = new FileOutputStream(getOutputMediaFile()); int len; byte buffer[] = new byte[8192]; while((len = in.read(buffer)) != -1) { videoFile.write(buffer, 0, len); } videoFile.close(); server.close(); Also, I would appreciate if someone will talk about the possible "pitfalls" in dealing with the conservation of media streams. Thank you, I hope for your help! Alex.

  • MediaRecorder Prepare Failed

    - by AndyTang
Hi, I'm new here. I have been trying to create a video capture app using the android emulator without much success. As far as I know and looking through all the samples and code on the internet (this site and others), I must still be missing a step. I've tried using this sample near the end of this thread made by JonPro: http://www.anddev.org/viewtopic.php?p=24723#24723 and I've tried making my own but the media recorder would always fail on the prepare stage with the most unhelpful message of 'prepare failed'. I have no clue what I am missing. I seem to have the correct permissions and a SDCard is mounted according to the emulator. Should I be using a android SDK version other than 2.1? Even though the code in that forum claims to work, I figured out that this line was missing: recorder.setCamera(camera); But still no joy as the logs shows that: 'Failed to get camera(0x16b70) parameters' when prepare() is called but it still doesn't make sense as the preview is okay, but no recording! Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

  • Abort SAX parsing mid-document?

    - by CSharperWithJava
I'm parsing a very simple XML schema with a SAX parser in Android. An example file would be <Lists> <List name="foo"> <Note title="note 1" .../> <Note title="note 2" .../> </List> <List name="bar"> <Note title="note 3" .../> </List> </Lists> The ... represents more note data as attributes that aren't important to question. I use a SAX parser to parse the document and only implement the startElement and 'endElement' methods of the HandlerBase to handle Note and List nodes. However, In some cases the files can be very large and take some time to process. I'd like to be able to abort the parsing process at any time (i.e. user presses cancel button). The best way I've come up with is to throw an exception from my startElement method when certain conditions are met (i.e. boolean stopParsing is true). Is there a better way to do this? I've always used DOM style parsers, so I don't fully understand the SAX parser. One final note, I'm running this on Android, so I will have the Parser running on a worker thread to keep the UI responsive. If you know how I can kill the thread safely while the parser is running that would answer my question as well.

  • Problems saving a photo to a file

    - by Peter vdL
Man, I am still not able to save a picture when I send an intent asking for a photo to be taken. Here's what I am doing: Make a URI representing the pathname android.content.Context c = getApplicationContext(); String fname = c.getFilesDir().getAbsolutePath()+"/parked.jpg"; java.io.File file = new java.io.File( fname ); Uri fileUri = Uri.fromFile(file); Create the Intent (don't forget the pkg name!) and start the activity private static int TAKE_PICTURE = 22; Intent intent = new Intent(android.provider.MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE ); intent.putExtra("com.droidstogo.boom1." + MediaStore.EXTRA_OUTPUT, fileUri); startActivityForResult( intent, TAKE_PICTURE ); The camera activity starts, and I can take a picture, and approve it. My onActivityResult() then gets called. But my file doesn't get written. The URI is: file:///data/data/com.droidstogo.boom1/files/parked.jpg I can create thumbnail OK (by not putting the extra into the Intent), and can write that file OK, and later read it back). Can anyone see what simple mistake I am making? Nothing obvious shows up in the logcat - the camera is clearly taking the picture. Thanks, Peter

  • Notification doesn't play sound or show lights even though set to

    - by robintw
In my android application I have the following code: Notification notification = new Notification(icon, tickerText, when); context = context.getApplicationContext(); CharSequence contentTitle = "UK Radio Guide"; CharSequence contentText = title + " on " + channel_id + " at " + start; Intent notificationIntent = new Intent(context, ViewSchedules.class); PendingIntent contentIntent = PendingIntent.getActivity(context, 0, notificationIntent, 0); notification.setLatestEventInfo(context, contentTitle, contentText, contentIntent); notification.ledARGB = 0xff00ff00; notification.ledOnMS = 300; notification.ledOffMS = 1000; notification.flags |= Notification.FLAG_SHOW_LIGHTS; notification.sound = Uri.parse("android.resource://com.robinwilson.radioguide/" +R.raw.chimes); notification.vibrate = new long[] { 0, 300, 200, 300, 400, 300 }; // Actually send the notification nm.notify(0, notification); As far as I am aware, I have followed the steps in the documentation to set it to play a sound from the resources folder, and to flash the lights. However, neither of these happen. It does, however, vibrate, as instructed. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong here? I've looked through the permissions that I can give the app in the AndroidManifest.xml file, but I can't see one for letting it flash the light or make sounds.

  • Suggestions for entering mobile development -- pure iPhone SDK, Andorid SDK. Mono Touch or Titanium?

    - by Tom Cabanski
I am entering mobile development. I have been working primarily in .NET since 1.0 came out in beta. Before that, I was mostly a C++ and Delphi guy and still dabble in C++ from time to time. I do web apps quite a bit so I am reasonably proficient with Javascript, JQuery and CSS. I have also done a few Java applications. I started web programming with CGI and live mostly in the ASP.NET MVC world these days. I am trying to decide on which platform/OS and tool to select. I am concerned with the size of the market available for my applications as well as the marketibility of the skills I will pick up. The apps I have in mind would work on both phones and pads. Some aspects of what I have in mind will play better on the bigger screens that will be available on pads. Here are the options I am considering: Apple iPhone/iPad using pure Apple SDK (Objective-C) Apple iPhone/iPad using Mono Touch (C#) Android using pure Android SDK (Java) Multiple platforms using something like Titanium to generate native apps from web technologies (HTML, CSS and Javascript) Multiple platforms using HTML5 web applications that run in the browser (HTML, CSS and Javascript). Which option would you choose? Do you have a different suggestion? What are the pros and cons?

  • Close application on error

    - by poke
I’m currently writing an application for the Android platform that requires a mounted SD card (or ExternalStorage). I know that it might not be the best way to require something like that, but the application will work with quite a lot of data, and I don’t even want to think about storing that on the device’s storage. Anyway, to ensure that the application won’t run without the external storage, I do a quick check in the activity’s onCreate method. If the card is not mounted, I want to display an error message and then quit the application. My current approach looks like this: public void onCreate ( Bundle savedInstanceState ) { super.onCreate( savedInstanceState ); setContentView( R.layout.main ); try { // initialize data storage // will raise an exception if it fails, or the SD card is not mounted // ... } catch ( Exception e ) { AlertDialog.Builder builder = new AlertDialog.Builder( this ); builder .setMessage( "There was an error: " + e.getMessage() ) .setCancelable( false ) .setNeutralButton( "Ok.", new DialogInterface.OnClickListener() { public void onClick ( DialogInterface dialog, int which ) { MyApplication.this.finish(); } } ); AlertDialog error = builder.create(); error.show(); return; } // continue ... } When I run the application, and the exception gets raised (I raise it manually to check if everything works), the error message is displayed correctly. However when I press the button, the application closes and I get an Android error, that the application was closed unexpectedly (and I should force exit). I read some topics before on closing an application, and I know that it maybe shouldn’t happen like that. But how should I instead prevent the application from continuing to run? How do you close the application correctly when an error occurs?

  • "Scheduling restart of crashed service", but no call to onStart() follows

    - by kostmo
In the 1.6 API, is there a way to ensure that the onStart() method of a Service is called after the service is killed due to memory pressure? From the logs, it seems that the "process" that the service belongs to is restarted, but the service itself is not. I have placed a Log.d() call in the onStart() method, and this is not reached. To test my service under memory pressure, I spawn it from an activity, then launch the web browser and visit some Javascript-heavy websites like Slashdot until my service is killed. The logcat reads: 03-07 16:44:13.778: INFO/ActivityManager(52): Process com.kostmo.charbuilder.full (pid 2909) has died. 03-07 16:44:13.778: WARN/ActivityManager(52): Scheduling restart of crashed service com.kostmo.charbuilder.full/com.kostmo.charbuilder.DownloadImagesService in 5000ms 03-07 16:44:13.778: INFO/ActivityManager(52): Low Memory: No more background processes. 03-07 16:44:13.778: ERROR/ActivityThread(52): Failed to find provider info for android.server.checkin 03-07 16:44:13.778: WARN/Checkin(52): Can't log event SYSTEM_SERVICE_LOOPING: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Unknown URL content://android.server.checkin/events 03-07 16:44:18.908: INFO/ActivityManager(52): Start proc com.kostmo.charbuilder.full for service com.kostmo.charbuilder.full/com.kostmo.charbuilder.DownloadImagesService: pid=3560 uid=10027 gids={3003, 1015} 03-07 16:44:19.868: DEBUG/ddm-heap(3560): Got feature list request 03-07 16:44:20.128: INFO/ActivityThread(3560): Publishing provider com.kostmo.charbuilder.full.provider.character: com.kostmo.charbuilder.provider.ImageFileContentProvider

  • Adding a selection box into an ItemsControl?

    - by Jens
I have a WPF ItemsControl with a Canvas ItemPanel. Drawing from an internal source, it displays lots of automatically generated Rectangles. As of now, it looks like this: <Window // .. NameSpaces > <Window.Resources> <DataTemplate x:Key="binTemplate"> <Rectangle x:Name="Rect" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Canvas.Left="10" StrokeThickness="0"> // .. Databinding Height, Width, etc </Rectangle> </DataTemplate> </Window.Resources> <DockPanel x:Name="LayoutRoot" LastChildFill="True"> <ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding Bins}" ItemTemplate="{StaticResource binTemplate}"> <ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <Canvas MouseDown="Canvas_MouseDown" MouseMove="Canvas_MouseMove" MouseUp="Canvas_MouseUp"> <Rectangle x:Name="Selection" Canvas.Left="0" Canvas.Top="0" Visibility="Hidden" /> </Canvas> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> </ItemsControl> </DockPanel> </Window> I now try to implement a selection box, too.. well.. select my Rectangles. =) I tried just adding the box into the ItemsControl PanelTemplate, and controlling it with the Canvas mouse events, but it appears I am not allowed to do so. The error message is "Cannot explicitly modify Children collection of Panel used as ItemsPanel for ItemsControl. ItemsControl generates child elements for Panel." What is the preferred way to implement such behavior? I thought about overlaying another canvas (using negative Margin) and drawing the selection box in there, but that seems like a bad hack. Thanks in advance!

  • Streaming Media Player Tutorial Stops Unexpectedly. How Should I Debug (And Other Questions From A

    - by Danny
Hello! I'm a fledgling in the Android and Eclipse ways. I was reading and downloaded the source code for a Streaming Media Player tutorial from Pocket Journey, here. However, when I try to run it through the "Run As..." or "Debug As..." features in Eclipse, the emulator reports: "Sorry! The application Android Tutorials (process com.pocketjourney.tutorials) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." Now, from stepping through the Tutorial 1 activity (for those of you that may be familiar with it), it seems something funky happens here: button.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View view) { Toast.makeText(Tutorial1.this, "Button Clicked",Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); }}); My questions are: What's up with that line? Apparently, other comments haven't had this problem; am I missing some library that I should be downloading from someplace? How should I go about debugging this other than/in addition to stepping through code? I'm used to Visual Studio, which has a nice box with exception details for me to sift through and copy/paste to google with. Eclipse debugging showed a "No Source Code" page, or a list of exceptions. I've heard of something called LogCat; is that relevant here? Thanks in advance!

  • Testing In-App-Billing with not published App

    - by Janusz
I have an Android App that uses In-App-Billing to sell Account Managed Items. I tested the App with the static respons ids and everything seems to work. I now want to test the App with real product Ids. I created the App in the Google Play Store and uploaded a draft Version of the App with the correct Permissions. I know created an In-App-Billing item and published the item. At the moment the App is unpublished, the item is created and published and I have a test account that is registered in the Profile of the developer account and is the only account on the device that I use for testing. The App is signed with the same key as the uploaded draft. Edit:I'm testing with Android 4.1 && 4.03 at the moment If I try to buy the item the Google Play Store pops up but shows a dialog with the following method: The item you requested is not available for purchase. How can I test buying the item without publishing the App?

  • Trouble getting $.ajax() to work in PhoneGap against a locally hosted server

    - by David Gutierrez
Currently trying to make an ajax post request to an IIS Express hosted MVC 4 Web API end point from an android VM (Bluestacks) on my machine. Here are the snippets of code that I am trying, and cannot get to work: $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "http://10.0.2.2:28434/api/devices", data: {'EncryptedPassword':'1234','UserName':'test','DeviceToken':'d234'} }).always(function( data, textStatus, jqXHR ) { alert( textStatus ); }); Whenever I run this request I always get back a textStatus of 'error'. After hours of trying different things, I pushed my End Point to an actual server, and was able to actually get responses back in PhoneGap if I built up an XMLHttpRequest by hand, like so: var request = new XMLHttpRequest(); request.open("POST", "http://172.16.100.42/MobileRewards/api/devices", true); request.onreadystatechange = function(){//Call a function when the state changes. console.log("state = " + request.readyState); console.log("status = " + request.status); if (request.readyState == 4) { if (request.status == 200 || request.status == 0) { console.log("*" + request.responseText + "*"); } } } request.send("{EncryptedPassword:1234,UserName:test,DeviceToken:d234}"); Unfortunately, if I try to use $.ajax() against the same end point in the snippet above I still get a status text that says 'error', here is that snippet for reference: $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "http://172.16.100.42/MobileRewards/api/devices", data: {'EncryptedPassword':'1234','UserName':'test','DeviceToken':'d234'} }).always(function( data, textStatus, jqXHR ) { alert( textStatus ); }); So really, there are a couple of questions here. 1) Why can't I get any ajax calls (post or get) to successfully hit my End Point when it's hosted via IIS Express on the same machine that the Android VM is running? 2) When my end point is hosted on an actual server, through IIS and served through port 80, why can't I get post requests to be successful when I use jquery's ajax calls? (Even though I can get it to work by manually creating an XMLHttpRequest) Thanks

  • Constraining to parent container with MouseDragElementBehavior

    - by anonymous
Hi all, I just had a question regarding constraining a control's drag and drop movement to its parent canvas. I tried using the ConstrainToParentBounds property on the MouseDragElementBehavior, however, when this is used the drag must be done really slowly or the movement of the control is choppy or stops altogether. So I am attempting to implement my own boundary constraints. I seem to be running into difficulty though. I am still using the MouseDragElementBehavior but am attempting to supplement it by also handling mouseleftbuttondown, mousemove, mouseleftbuttonup events. I know that these are working (haven't been overridden by the MouseDragElementBehavior) as I have tested them using other methods. I will post my current code below: private void Control_MouseMove(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { MyControl mc = (MyControl)sender; Canvas canvas = (Canvas)mc.parent; GeneralTransform ct = canvas.TransformToVisual(Application.Current.RootVisual as UIElement; Point canvas_offset = ct.Transform(new Point(0,0)); double canvasTop = canvas_offset.Y; double canvasLeft = canvas_offset.X; GeneralTransform gt = mc.TransformToVisual(Application.Current.RootVisual as UIElement); Point offset = gt.Transform(new Point(0,0)); double controlTop = offset.Y; double controlLeft = offset.X; if(isMouseCaptured) { if(controlTop < canvasTop) { mc.Opacity = 1; //to test if conditions are being met, seems to indicate ok mc.setValue(Canvas.TopProperty, canvasTop); } if(controlLeft < canvasLeft) { mc.Opacity = 1; mc.setValue(Canvas.TopProperty, canvasTop); } } } This is what my code looks like at the moment (I realize there is nothing there for right/bottom). I've tried a bunch of different things at this point and none of them seem to give the desired result; the control's movement is still not constrained to the canvas. Any help/pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Best and simple way to handle JSON in Django

    - by primal
Hi, As part of the application we are developing (with android client and Django server) a json object which contains user name and pass word is sent to server from android client as follows HttpPost post = new HttpPost(URL); /*Adding key value pairs */ json.put("username", un); json.put("password", pwd); StringEntity se = new StringEntity(json.toString()); post.setEntity(se); response = client.execute(post); The response is parsed like this result = responsetoString(response.getEntity().getContent()); //Converts response to String jObject = new JSONObject(result); JSONObject post = jObject.getJSONObject("post"); username = post.getString("username"); message = post.getString("message"); Hope upto this everything is fine. The problem comes when parsing or sending JSON responses in Django server. Whats the best way to do this? We tried using SimpleJSON and it turned out not to be so simple as we didn't find any good tutorials or sample code for the same? Are there any python functions similiar to get,put and opt in java for JSON? Any help would be much appreciated..

  • getting maps to accept a dynamically generated KML file?

    - by arc
Hi. I have a button that launches the google maps app on my device via an intent. I want to be able to pass it a php page that generates a KML file. I have done this on a website before using the googlemaps api in JS - but it doesn't seem to work on Android. My php file is as follows; <?php echo '<kml xmlns="http://www.google.com/earth/kml/2">'; echo '<Placemark>'; echo '<name>Google Inc.</name>'; echo '<description>1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043</description>'; echo '<Point>'; echo '<coordinates>-122.0841430, 37.4219720, 0</coordinates>'; echo '</Point>'; echo '</Placemark>'; echo '</kml>'; ?> Launching with: final Intent myIntent = new Intent(android.content.Intent.ACTION_VIEW, Uri.parse("geo:0,0?q=http://website.com/kml_gen.php")); startActivity(myIntent); It launches maps, finds the file - but won't display it 'because it contains errors'. Is this just not possible, or are there other ways to construct the intent that might work?

  • DisplayObject snapshot in flex 3

    - by simplemagik
i'm creating a visual editor in flex and need to let users export thier projects into Image format. But i have one problem: size of the canvas is fixed and when user add element which is out of these sizes some scroll bars added. And user continue working on the project. but when he want to take snapshot of the canvas he just get the visible part ot the canvas with scrollbars. how to get image of the fullsize canvas? The only solution i found is to check the positions and sizes of canvas child objects and rezise it to fit them. then take snap and resize back. But it hmmmm... too complicated i think. Is there some "easy methods"? <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="vertical"> <mx:Script> <![CDATA[ import mx.graphics.ImageSnapshot; private function SnapshotButtonHandler():void { var snapshot:ImageSnapshot = ImageSnapshot.captureImage(AppCanvas); var file:FileReference = new FileReference(); file.save(snapshot.data, "canvas.png"); } ]]> </mx:Script> <mx:Canvas id="AppCanvas" width="800" height="300" backgroundColor="0xFFFFFF"> <mx:Box x="750" y="100" width="100" height="100" backgroundColor="0xCCCCCC" /> </mx:Canvas> <mx:Button id="SnapshotButton" label="take snapshot" click="SnapshotButtonHandler()" /> </mx:Application>

  • can not override showDialog in Activity tab

    - by hornetbzz
    Trying to downgrade my appl from android 2.2 (API 8) down to android 2.1 (API7), I'm facing some issues with dialog boxes. Based on this thread, I'm trying to catch these exceptions but can't override the showDialog method. I turned the Java compiler from 1.5 to 1.6 according to this answer to a similar issue, but no changes, Eclipse still returns : Cannot override the final method from Activity public class MyActivity extends Activity implements SeekBar.OnSeekBarChangeListener { // ... some stuffs @Override // here is the issue public void showDialog(int dialogId) { try { super.showDialog(dialogId); } catch (IllegalArgumentException e) { Log.e(ACTIVITY_TAG, "Error dialog"); } } @Override protected Dialog onCreateDialog(int id) { switch (id) { case DIALOG_ALERT: // Create out AlertDialog Builder builder = new AlertDialog.Builder(this); builder.setMessage(msg); builder.setCancelable(false); builder.setPositiveButton(GOTO_BOOK, new OkOnClickListener()); builder.setNegativeButton(STAY_HERE, new CancelOnClickListener()); AlertDialog dialog = builder.create(); dialog.show(); break; case DIALOG_ONCREATE: // Create out AlertDialog during the "onCreate" method (only "Ok" // button) Builder builder2 = new AlertDialog.Builder(getParent()); builder2.setMessage(msg); builder2.setCancelable(false); builder2.setPositiveButton(GO_BACK, new OkOnClickListener()); AlertDialog dialog2 = builder2.create(); dialog2.show(); break; } return super.onCreateDialog(id); } // ... some stuffs }

  • Need cause for: double dialer icon in Recents when ACTION_CALL is intercepted and re-sent

    - by Emmanuel
Note that this happens on Android version 2.1 update1 and 2.2. This seems gone in later versions. Of course I would like to know the workaround. But if there are none, at least if this is a known bug, please provide with a link to the bug. I would also accept the source code fix info or diff where this was fixed. I have an application that intercepts an outgoing call, asks a question to the user, and then depending on the answer it could re-send the call. This works fine. But then when you go to the Recents (hold the Home key) there are two slightly different dialer icons there: one from the dialer application, and a second one for the resending of the call action: This means when you click on the first icon, it opens the dialer. But when you click on the second one, it redials the last number. I tried using android:excludeFromRecents="true" for all my activities. I also tried Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_EXCLUDE_FROM_RECENTS when I start the call action. No luck.

  • How do I perform this MutliArray setup in Java?

    - by Andy Barlow
I come from a PHP background and I'm just getting my teeth into some Java. I was wondering how I could implement the following in Java as simply as possible, just echoing the results to a terminal via the usual "System.out.print()" method. <?php $Results[0]['title'] = "No Country for Old Men"; $Results[0]['run_time'] = "122 mins"; $Results[0]['cert'] = "15"; $Results[1]['title'] = "Old School"; $Results[1]['run_time'] = "88 mins"; $Results[1]['cert'] = "18"; // Will basically show the above in order. foreach($Results as value) { echo $Results[$value]['title']; echo $Results[$value]['run_time']; echo $Results[$value]['cert']; } // Lets add some more as I need to do this in Java too $Results[2]['title'] = "Saving Private Ryan"; $Results[2]['run_time'] = "153 mins"; $Results[2]['cert'] = "15"; // Lets remove the first one as an example of another need $Results[0] = null; ?> I hear there are "list iterators" or something that are really good for rolling through data like this. Perhaps it could be implemented with that? A fully working .java file would be most handy in this instance, including how to add and remove items from the array like the above. P.S. I do plan on using this for an Android App in the distant future, so, hopefully it should all work on Android fine too, although, I imagine this sort of thing works on anything Java related :).

  • Doing coding in Linux through a virtual machine on Windows VS partitioning

    - by ihaveitnow
I already have experience with setting up virtual machines, running them and other minor tasks. Im a gamer, so I wont get rid of windows (for now at least...) but I do want to be a great programmer and to be involved with the Open-Source community. Id like to know if its a good idea to do my programming in linux through a virtual machine, vs giving it a partitioned section of the HDD. Id like to know about performance pros and cons and functionality. All responses are appreciated, thanks in advance. The type of programming I intend to dive into : Android Dev, Web Dev, Desktop Dev...More Android and Web right now though. So im looking at C#,C,C++,Java,PHP,HTML,MySQL...Off the top of the dome. I do web designing as well, so dreamweaver is added as an "essential". But im sure I can do dreamweaver files and upload them to the server after programming in Linux...Right? And any info on IDE's in Linux for the above mentioned are appreciated, but i would prefer going the coding route and understanding the essence of whats happening "under the covers" Thanks to all for reading, I appreciate it. Hope this isnt confusing :S

  • Dropping not working on Chrome Mac version

    - by user600641
I tried to work with html5 drag&drop api, and it works very well on my chrome 20.0.1132 on windows machine, but most fun - that the same version of chrome on mac os lion is not working. I mean dragstart is working, but drop event, dragleave, dragover is not fired. Here is html: <form id="fake_form" action="#" > <div id="canvas_wrapper" style="overflow: hidden;width: 600px; position: relative;border: 1px solid black; margin-left: 30px;"> <canvas width="600" height="300" > </canvas> </div> </form> Here is javascript: var canvas = $('canvas')[0]; canvas.addEventListener('dragenter', function(e){ console.log('dragenter'); }, false); canvas.addEventListener('dragleave', function(){ console.log('dragleave'); }, false) canvas.addEventListener('dragover', function(e){ console.log('dragover'); if(e.preventDefault){ e.preventDefault(); } return false; }, false); canvas.ondrop = function(e){ console.log('ondrop'); /** OTHER CODE **/ If it helps: on safari on the same mac - it works, i`m dragging image tags some of them have draggable attribute, some of them - not. Just checked - on canary mac version 22 it works. UPDATE: i figured out that there is some magic with dragstart event, if i delete line with this e.dataTransfer.setData('src', src_var) everythings become working

  • how do I call a javacript function every 60 seconds?

    - by William
    So I'm trying to work on a Canvas demo, and I want this square to move from one side to the other, but I can't figure out how to call javascript in a way that repeats every 60 seconds. Here's what I got so far: <!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en"> <head> <title>Canvas test</title> <meta charset="utf-8" /> <link href="/bms/style.css" rel="stylesheet" /> <style> body { text-align: center; background-color: #000000;} canvas{ background-color: #ffffff;} </style> <script type="text/javascript"> var x = 50; var y = 250; function update(){ draw(); x = x + 5; } function draw(){ var canvas = document.getElementById('screen1'); if (canvas.getContext){ var ctx = canvas.getContext('2d'); ctx.fillStyle = 'rgb(236,138,68)'; ctx.fillRect(x,y,24,24); } } </script> </head> <body onLoad="setTimeout(update(), 0);"> <canvas id="screen1" width="500" height="500"></canvas> </body> </html>

  • adb doesn't get phone's device name/number

    - by Dona Hertel
Okay, I have a strange problem I haven't seen listed anywhere. I'm developing an android app and I would like to run it on my Huawei Ascend. I have set up a file in /etc/udev/90-android.rules with the line: SUBSYSTEM=="usb", SYSFS{idVendor}=="12d1", MODE="0666" where '12d1' is the correct vendor ID for this phone (I verified this with 'lsusb' command). When I plug in the phone (it does have debugging on) and restart the adb server I get a connection but the name field does not get set. The output to 'adb devices' is: List of devices attached \n ???????????? device Plugging and unplugging the cable doesn't resolve this. Neither does restarting the adb server. Nor does a total reboot of both my computer or the phone. This is fine as I can get logs and a shell. The problem is that in the eclipse plugin, the device's name is list as "????????????" and so when it tries connect, it quits with an error message of 'device not found' even though the device is listed and 'online'. Is there something else I need to do? Do I need to set the name of the device somehow? cocofan P.S.: The app has 'debuggable' set to true in the manifest file.

  • WebView and HTML5 <video>

    - by brian moore
I'm piecing together a cheapo app that amongst other things "frames" some of our websites... Pretty simple with the WebViewClient... until I hit the video. The video is done as HTML5 elements, and these work fine and dandy on Chrome, iPhones, and now that we fixed the encoding issues it works great on Android... in the native browser. Now the rub: WebView doesn't like it. At all. I can click on the poster image, and nothing happens. Googling, I found http://www.codelark.com/2010/05/12/android-viewing-video-from-embedded-webview/ which is close, but seems to be based on a 'link' (as in a href...) instead of a video element. (onDownloadListener does not appear to get invoked on video elements...) I also see references to overriding onShowCustomView, but that seems to not get called on video elements... nor does shouldOverrideUrlLoading.. I would rather not get into "pull xml from the server, reformat it in the app".. by keeping the story layout on the server, I can control the content a bit better without forcing people to keep updating an app. So if I can convince WebView to handle tags like the native browser, that would be best. I'm clearly missing something obvious.. but I have no clue what.
