  • Server unstable after a WHM automated update

    I have a server with WHM/cPanel server a website (Apache, PHP, MySQL) and a few days ago WHM performed some kind of update on itself (there are new icons and new appearance overall). Ever since that day, my site has been running slow for shorts periods of time, but several times a day. That never happend before. Is there some common cause for this? Something that WHM does when it does an update? I'm really clueless about this problem.

    I use Ubuntu 10.10 on my laptop. I added the following to /etc/apache2/httpd.conf NameVirtualHost *:80 <VirtualHost *:80> DocumentRoot "/var/www/square/public" ServerName square.localhost </VirtualHost> And restarted the apache. I go to http://square.localhost/ and it gives an error telling server not found. Could anyone tell me how to define virtual host settings on Ubuntu please? Thanks in advance.

  • Multiple websites each with an SSL certificate of its own

    Hi, We run cent os, plesk with apache and php, mysql. There are around 25 sites and each of them need an SSL certificate now. The host cannot have more than 16 IPs on the same server. Is it possible to have all these sites use just one IP address and have SSL certificate setup for each site? If yes, please let me know how I can set this up. Thanks

  • How to test if DNS information has propagated?

    I set up a new DNS entry for one of my subdomains (I haven't set up any Apache virtual hosts or anything like that yet). How can I check that the DNS information has propagated? I assumed that I could simply ping my.subdomain.com and assume that if it could resolve, it would show the IP address I specified in the A record. However, I don't know if I am assuming correctly. What is the best way to check this information?

  • How can I configure apache2 to use a non - exportable ssl certificate managed by windows?

    On Windows Server 2008 R2, my IT administrator has installed a certificate using the windows certificate management tool. The certificate is for *.thedomain.com. He set it up as not exportable for security reasons: I'm not suposed to be able to put my hands on the certificate. This configuration would allow me to use the certificate with microsoft products, but not to go away with the certificate. Q: It there a way to configure Apache 2 to use this certificate "the windows way"?

    I've been working with linux for a while but in a rather simple manner. I understand that scripts in init.d are executed when the os starts but how exactly does it works? How does the os know which paramater to pass to a script? To start apache I would do sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 start. If I run sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 it doesn't work without the start. How does the os pass start to the script?

  • Collecting and viewing statistical data on website usage? Want to give Google Analytics the boot.

    I have always been somewhat reluctant to "outsource" site statistics to Google. We have an Apache server running on a Windows server. I am pretty sure all the foundation to collect the needed visitor data are there. I would like to stop using GA, and use some form of application where the data does not travel to a third party but remains at the host, or at least travels to the remote administrator, if it is a log analyzer in a browser. What are my options?

    Hi, I've a Virtual Private Server with Windows 2003 and root access. This server mainly acts as a web hosting machine (IIS, Apache). Additionally it is used as a mail server. Is it possible to isolate a mailserver (for example HMailServer) by using VMware Server on Windows 2003 in order to avoid potential viruses moving from the guest into the host system?   • Using Puppet, is it possible to define which plugins gets sync with a particular client?

    I have a plugin that gets pushed to all clients. However, I have one that's specific to a particular module, hence I don't want it synced with all my clients. My generic plugin is stored in /etc/puppet/modules/custom/lib/facter but I have a plugin stored inside a module that seems to be pushed to all clients regardless if the host inherits the class or not.     I'm trying to learn PHP and I'm just in the process of installing apache,msql and PHP. I'm on a mac osx 10.7.2 Processor 2.26 GHz intel core 2 due I downloaded: mysql-5.5.18-osx10.6-x86_64.dmg I'm now at the point of setting the root password and when I type in: sudo: mysql_secure_installation it asks me to enter my password, then it says: sudo: mysql_secure_installation: command not found Any help would be appreciated.     Is it possible to trace which file or process or database query is effecting the load on a VPS? I am using Centos with 512 MB Guarantee Memory and 1 GB burst Memory, I am running 3 wordpress sites from it, where all are having daily traffic of 30-100 visitors each, After every 2-3 days I need to restart my VPS because the resources are taking high usage of memory, I tried running top command and it shows Apache as high, But is it possible to check which website is taking load?     I'm seeing some errors in my apache logs and they may (or may not) be related to some packages that I recently installed/removed using Yum. Is there a way to view the history of Yum packages that have been updated/installed/removed ? I could use the "history" command from unix, but some installations may have been done with different accounts. I've tried searching the web and reading the man page too but haven't found anything.

    I'm trying to install CouchDB on my mac, running snow leopard 10.6. I installed Xcode, MacPorts, and then followed the instructions here: http://wiki.apache.org/couchdb/Installing_on_OSX It all worked fine until I tried to visit the web interface: http://127.0.0.1:5984/_utils/index.html Google chrome said "Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to 127.0.0.1:5984" I tried connecting using telnet in bash and it said connection refused. Can somebody shed some light with some suggestions or perhaps and idiot-proof walkthrough?

In short: I have 2 physical machines - first(Windows Server 2007, Apache 2.2) on the second machine esxi installed to host virtual machines . I have been converted my physical machine(1) on esxi(2) and in the next step I would like to deploy a load balancer between the physical and virtual machine. Would be this workaround appropriate?   • Multiple subdomains resolving to one domain?

    I'm trying to host an application, but allow the customer to use their own sub domain so that it does not confuse their own customers. So for example, by application would run on app.mydomain.com, but my customer would access it via their own subdomain (app.somedomain.com and/or app.anotherdomain.com). Is this even possible? (Possibly relevant information: my application is hosted on media temple and uses Apache) Thanks!

  • How do I remove the ServerSignature added by mod_fcgid?

    I'm running Mod_Security and I'm using the SecServerSignature to customize the Server header that Apache returns. This part works fine, however I'm also running mod_fcgid which appends "mod_fcgid/2.3.5" to the header. Is there any way I can turn this off? Setting ServerSignature off doesn't do anything. I was able to get it to go away by changing the ServerTokens but that removed the customization I had added.
