• "Don't Allow" in LocationManager keeps logging errors

  I have an app that checked for location. It asks the user to use location and if the user says no on the menu there is an issue when i load the mapview. Once i select the mapView it asks for the user location again. If the user says no again my console keeps displaying errors/warning as well as my NSLog from the "didFailWithError" of my location Manager class. Is there a way of stopping the LocationManage:didFailWithErrors if the user has already said no? • Conditional Join - join 1 tables 2 ways

  I have a set of (not very well normalised or relational) tables named PLAN, GROUP, PRODUCT CLIENT Most have linkage i.e. PLAN - CLIENT on clno GROUP to PRODUCT on PRODCD However, the linkage between PLAN and GROUP is tricky. A plan has 2 field of interest GRPNO and PRODCD. What I want to do is if GRPNO != 0 then join GROUP on GRPNO. However if GRPNO = 0 then I want to join GROUP on PRODCD. The frustrating thing is that the fileds I want to return in my queries are the same across the board I just need to be able to vary the join, or join the same table twice. The best I can come up with is 2 queries and merge them using datasets, or possibly using a union. Is there a nifty way to do this in one select? I should point out I am access Foxpro over ODBC to do this. Thank you!

Should we convert every <b> to <strong> blindly ? many people do this they think <b> is not good as per web standards so they convert every <b> to <strong> upon site redesign, content re-population, new site design and people suggest this to others also. Dreamweaver has also given option to convert all <b> and <i> to <strong> and <em> on code paste in design view and when we use B and I Which people use blindly. And Dreamweaver(if above option is checked) and many online WYSIWYG editor give output in <strong> and <em> while button shows B and I. In my opinion it's creating misconception about <strong> and <b> When we get content from client we don't know where client want to give emphasize and where he just want to use text bold for presentation purpose.What we should do in this condition? no one has time client and we both to give time to think for each bold text, it should be in <b> or in <strong>, <i> or in <em> What are pros and cons to convert every <b> and <i> into <strong> and <em> blindly if we are saying our site is accessible? Update: remember <b> and <i> are not deprecated there are in HTML 5 specification

• Refresh backend in GWT development

  I am developing a GWT application that uses EJB and other Java EE 6 technology as the backend. I am currently using the GWT 2.0 plugin for Safari. When I change my GWT client side code and save in my IDE (NetBeans), all that's required is a simple reload in the browser for the changes to become active. That works great! However, often I work on the server-side (the EJBs, GWT server code, etc) and then something in on the GWT client side. Any changes done to the server-side do not appear to incrementally deploy to the Glassfish V3 server. Currently I close the GWT Development Mode application, and then recompile the EJBs, and then go back into GWT Development mode. That is tedious. Any better way of doing this? I tried the "deploy on save" option in NetBeans but it does not seem to do the trick.

• How entity edit URL from within plug-in in MS Dyanmics CRM 4.0

  I would like to have a workflow create a task, then email the assigned user that they have a new task and include a link to the newly created task in the body of the email. I have client side code that will correctly create the edit URL, using the entities GUID and stores it in a custom attribute. However, when the task is created from within a workflow, the client script isn't run. So, I think a plug-in should work, but I can't figure out how to determine the URL of the CRM installation. I'm authoring this in a test environment and definitely don't want to have to change things when I move to production. I'm sure I could use a config file, but seems like the plug-in should be able to figure this out at runtime. Anyone have any ideas how to access the URL of the crm service from within a plug-in? Any other ideas? Thanks!

• Modify Emdeded String in C# compiled exe

  I have an issue where I need to be able to have a compiled exe ( .net 3.5 c# ) that I will make copies of to distribute that will need to change a key for example before the exe is sent out. I cannot compile each time a new exe is needed. This is a thin client that will be used as part of a registration process. Is it possible to add a entry to a resource file with a blank value then when a request comes in have another application grab the blank default thin client, copy it, populate the blank value with the data needed. If yes how? If no do you have any ideas? I have been scratching my head for a few days now and the limitation as due to the boundaries I am required to work in. The other idea I has was to inject the value into a method, which I have no idea how I would even attempt that. Thanks.

• Grails: JSONP callback without id and class in JSON file

  Hi, I am working on a REST based interface where people get a json file. The client needs to access the file from another Domain. I use jsonp which works so far. My problem is the rendering in Grails. At the moment I use the 'as JSON' to marshalling the object: render "${params.jsoncallback}(${user as JSON})" The Json file getting to the client inclused all attributes, incluing the id and class, which I do not want to have in there. In case it is not jsonp, I do it this way, which works great: render(contentType:'text/json'){ userName user.userName userImage user.userImage : : } So how do I get the id and class attributes out of the json when rendering "user as JSON"? • Nice, clean, simple way of getting a dataset from ASP.NET to plain HTML jQuery or JavaScript library

  I know this is a probable open ended question, and I have tried looking around so much over the last year or two... maybe I am looking for a perfect place that doesn't exist! of course it's all about perception no less.. Anyway, just to clarify what I am trying to do and why: I want to be able to use (primarily for the moment) ASP.NET or services thereof to get a dataset - whatever the source data, I can obviously get a dataset of rows/Columns. I want to be able to, as simply as possible, get that data over to the client via xml/json/whatever, to then use in a "variety" of ways. "Variety" of ways meaning I would like to "easily" bind that data to say a grid, or a combo dropdown or just simply render to a textbox - BUT by referencing the dataset as I would say on the serverside. Now I know this all sounds simplistic, and I know there are lots of complications.. so I have tried the following so far over the last year or so: ExtJS - very good, nice solid framework, but just found it a bit too much to use in everyday basic apps - great if I was building a whole application with it Yahoo YUI - not looked recently, but I guess some of the concepts with ExtJS were similar? JQuery - of course to get data etc, it was ok, and I guess there are so many 3rd party plugins, that a mix and match might work? Adobe SPRY - ironically this was as close to getting a dataset style structure to Javascript/client, although it seemed to drop off/go quiet..? I maybe wrong.. I did have a very cursory play with Tibco GI and another one I cannot remember the name of! but again, it felt like it was great to build a whole app perhaps? Anyway, I am very amazed by all of the technologies coming out, and really not biased one way or the other, I really just want a very simple way of getting data from the server, and having a basic/very flexible way of working with that data in the client without using server technologies.. I need to keep the server flexible as I may need to use PHP, or java technologies not just .NET So again, sorry for the rambles, but if anyone out there has had a simple experience, or would like to share some ideas, it would be very welcomed!! • Cyclic References and WCF

  I have generated my POCO entities using POCO Generator, I have more than 150+ tables in my database. I am sharing POCO entities all across the application layers including the client. I have disabled both LazyLoading and ProxyCreation in my context.I am using WCF on top of my data access and business layer. Now, When I return a poco entity to my client, I get an error saying "Underlying connection was closed" I enabled WCF tracing and found the exact error : Contains cycles and cannot be serialized if reference tracking is disabled. I Looked at MSDN and found solutions like setting IsReference=true in the DataContract method atttribute but I am not decorating my POCO classes with DataContracts and I assume there is no need of it as well. I won't be calling that as a POCO if I decorate a class with DataContract attribute Then, I found solutions like applying custom attribute [CyclicReferenceAware] over my ServiceContracts.That did work but I wanted to throw this question to community to see how other people managed this and also why Microsoft didn't give built in support for figuring out cyclic references while serializing POCO classes

• Best Version control for lone developer

  I'm a lone developer at the moment; please share you experiences on what is a good VC setup for a lone developer. My constraints are; I work on multiple machines and need to keep them synced up Sometimes I work offline I'm currently using Subversion(just the client to a remote server), and that is working ok. I'm interested in mecurial and git DVCS, but none of their use-cases make sense to my situation. EDIT: I've migrated my active development to Fossil http://www.fossil-scm.org/ after trialing it with a client. I really like the features to autosync my repositories(reducing accidental forks), the documentation support(both wiki and embedded/versioned) that supports my need to document the code and the project in different spaces, the easy to configure issue tracker, nice access control, skinnable web interface and helpful community.

• Does flex not support hashmaps?

  I have a Flex object which collects a DTO from the server. All the fields arrive filled in correctly except for the one that is a HashMap. It arrives as null. I've tried giving it a type of both ArrayCollection and Dictionary, but that hasn't fixed it. Does anyone know if there's an inherent incomaptability between Java HashMap and Flex? If not, what might I be doing wrong here? I'm looking at my jboss console and I see the data being populated correctly in the server side before delivery to the client. However, as it gets to the client, that field is null. I'm ready to kill myself.

• MySQLdb not INSERTING, _mysql does fine.

  Okay, I log onto the MySQL command-line client as root. I then open or otherwise run a python app using the MySQLdb module as root. When I check the results using python (IDLE), everything looks fine. When I use the MySQL command-line client, no INSERT has occurred. If I change things around to _mysql instead of MySQLdb, everything works fine. I'd appreciate any clarification(s). • how to create an excel file in google app engine (java)?

  A question that seems to have quite a few options for Python, but none for Java after googling for two days. Really really could use some help all I have found so far is a recommendation to use gaeVFS to build an excel file from the xml components and then zip it all together which sounds like a slap in the face. Oh yes and if you were wondering I am questioning my use of Java rather than python but at 5,000 lines of code it would be insane to turn back now... Other things you might find useful Client: GWT Server: Servlets running on google app engine storing data into the google data store Excel file: mandatory, CSV isn't good enough, no need to save the file just to be able to "serve" it to the client i.e. open a "Save As" box.

• Compact Framework : Read a SQL CE database on a PDA from a PC

  Hello, I have tasked with upgrading a CF Framework 1.1 suite of apps. Currently, the PC starts a server [after confirming via RAPI that the device exists and is connected] and spawns a app on the PDA as the client. The client process on the PDA talks with the db on the PDA and returns records to the PC app [using SQL CE 2.0. OpenNETCF 1.4 for communication/io]. I have a chance to upgrade the PC and PDA suite of apps to Framework 3.5 & CF 3.5 respectively. Due to a business requirement, I cannot get rid of workflow requiring the PC app to show a preview of the work done on the PDA. Question : Are there better ways to achieve the above in general with the constraints I have? I would really appreciate any Ideas/advice.

• Twisted: why is it that passing a deferred callback to a deferred thread makes the thread blocking a

  I unsuccessfully tried using txredis (the non blocking twisted api for redis) for a persisting message queue I'm trying to set up with a scrapy project I am working on. I found that although the client was not blocking, it became much slower than it could have been because what should have been one event in the reactor loop was split up into thousands of steps. So instead, I tried making use of redis-py (the regular blocking twisted api) and wrapping the call in a deferred thread. It works great, however I want to perform an inner deferred when I make a call to redis as I would like to set up connection pooling in attempts to speed things up further.   Hi guys, I'm considering Wordpress as my CMS platform for a client site I'm doing at the moment. However, I need to create a couple of custom 'modules'. One of these modules is a form that people will be able to complete and have a quote, and once submitted, in a special place in the Wordpress panel (like a menu or something), there will be a listing of all the submitted quotes (just fetching it from a table in my database). Another one is to manage a cafeteria menu, so the client can add a different meal to each day of the week. I know perfectly how to do this kind of things using some kind of MVC framework and doing it 'by-hand', but I'm just wondering if this would be possible to do with WP and if yes, what kind of tools I'll have to use. • Get country location of an IP with native PHP

  Read on before you say this is a duplicate, it's not. (as far as I could see) I want to get the county code in php from the client. Yes I know you can do this using external sites or with the likes of "geoip_record_by_name" but I don't want to be dependent on an external site, and I can't install "pear" for php as im using shard Dreamhost hosting. I thought I could just do something like this: $output = shell_exec('whois '.$ip.' -H | grep country | awk \'{print $2}\''); echo "<pre>$output</pre>"; But dreamhost seems to have an old version of whois (4.7.5), so I get this error on allot of IPs: Unknown AS number or IP network. Please upgrade this program. So unless someone knows how to get a binary of a newer version of whois onto dreamhost im stuck. Or is there another way I could get the country code from the client who is loading the page?

• Requesting information from the user inside a GTK main loop

  Hello, I am learning Python by building a simple PyGTK application that fetches data from some SVN repositories, using pysvn. The pysvn Client has a callback you can specify that it calls when Subversion needs authentication information for a repository. When that happens, I would like to open a dialog to ask the user for the credentials. The problem is, it seems the callback is called inside the GTK main loop, so it's basically called on every tick. Is there a way to prevent this? Perhaps by opening the dialog in a new thread? But then how do I return the tuple with the user data to the callback so it can return it to the pysvn.Client?

So I'm guessing that when .NET performs the matching with the regEx it doesn't match. My question: Why does this regular expression match on the client side but not on the server side?

  Hi, I'm working on a online quiz client where we use a dedicated custom-made linux distro which contains only the quiz client software along with text editors and other utility software. When the user has started the quiz, I want to prevent him/her from minimizing the window/closing it/switching to the desktop or other windows. The quizzes can be attempted using only the mouse, so I need the keyboard to be completed disabled for the period of the quiz. How could I do this, using Qt or Mono? • Multiple key/value pairs in HTTP POST where key is the same name

  I'm working on an API that accepts data from remote clients, some of which where the key in an HTTP POST almost functions as an array. In english what this means is say I have a resource on my server called "class". A class in this sense, is the type a student sits in and a teacher educates in. When the user submits an HTTP POST to create a new class for their application, a lot of the key value pairs look like: student_name: Bob Smith student_name: Jane Smith student_name: Chris Smith What's the best way to handle this on both the client side (let's say the client is cURL or ActiveResource, whatever..) and what's a decent way of handling this on the server-side if my server is a Ruby on Rails app? Need a way to allow for multiple keys with the same name and without any namespace clashing or loss of data.

• pro*C in oracle XE

  I downloaded the free express edition of oracle, Oracle XE. I couldn't find the pro*c compiler in this edition. I read somewhere that oracle 9i client has pro*C, So I presumed that oracle client for 10g XE should have it too and downloaded it. But to my disappointment, I can't find it there too. :(. Is there a way to download the older oracle 9i and use it connect to 10g XE without any compatibility problems?. Or is it possible to download the pro*C compiler alone?. I don't want to download the standard editions as they are too large(2 GB). Thanks.
