• Can I list file names (or their parent directories) that were recently deleted using rm in OS X?

  Is it possible to find out which files and directories have recently been deleted by rm in OS X? Or failing that, is it possible to find which parent directories have had files or directories within it deleted? The OS version is Snow Leopard. Background: Last night, rvm (ruby version manager) did rm -rf of the ~/ruby directory from the home directory. (This bug has since been fixed) Ideally, I'd like to know what files within the ~/ruby directory were deleted, but failing that, I'd like to know if rvm deleted anything outside of ~/ruby . In case anyone's wondering about backups...: Just about everything within ~/ruby is a git project that has a remote repo, and I have a fairly recent Time Machine backup (only 20 days old).

  How do I increase performance in OWA 2010 SP2? I am running CAS on a seperate installation, which has 8GB RAM and 4 CPU cores - running virtualized in a vmware environment. However, the load times are pretty bad, so is there any way to improve those? I am thinking of installing a linux cache-stuff-server in front of the OWA, but will that work? • OS Missing? Messed up the MBR on Win7 64-bit

  I have a Windows 7 machine with two hard drives: a 1TB C: drive and 500GB J:. I had Windows XP installed on C: and Windows 7 installed on J:. I installed Windows 7 after Windows XP from an installer .exe I (legally) bought and downloaded. It, and all of my other files, are sitting on my J: drive intact. While under my Windows 7 install, a few days ago I decided to use Priform's CCleaner and use its DriveWipe utility to wipe the C: drive. 1% into the process, I cancelled and attempted to use it again. It gives me an error saying it can't format the drive, so I poke around the Internet a bit, give up, and restart my computer. I first get an "OS is missing" error after the computer boots past the BIOS. I downloaded and put UBCD on a bootable USB to use another drivewiping tool to completely erase the C: drive, hoping it'll take the problem with it. No luck. I try to use TestDisk to make my J: my primary active drive, but no luck. I still get the "OS is missing" error. Or sometimes it'll hang at Verifying DMI Pool. Or sometimes I'll get the "NTLDR is missing" error. I get hold of Hiren's and put it on another bootable USB. I first I tried the Boot Windows 7 from Hard Drive option, and I get "Error 15: File Not Found". I tried the "Fix 'NTLDR is Missing'" option (I'm not quite sure why this is even showing up, since I'm trying to get into a HDD with Windows 7 installed. Probably messed up somewhere when I used TestDisk) and I get this list: I'll run through the error messages I get: 1st Try - Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \system32\hal.dll 2nd Try - Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \system32\ntoskrnl.exe 3rd Try - Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware. 4th - 8th Try - Same as #3 9th Try - I/O Error accessing boot sector file multi(0)disk(0)fdisk(0)\BOOTSEC.DOS. And computer freezes. 10th Try - computer restarts Needless to say, not a single one of those works. I then tried to open up the Windows 7 exe I have sitting on my J: from the Mini-XP OS on Hiren's, but it won't run because I'm trying to run a 64-bit file from a 32-bit exe. At least, that's the problem according to these guys: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/...-b2f54e9c7d18/ I then borrowed a 64-bit Windows Home Premium CD from a friend to get to the recovery options. But I get the error message: This version of System Recovery Options is not compatible with the version of Windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that is compatible with this version of Windows. I pressed Shift + F10 to get to the Command Prompt directly. These are the exact steps I took from there (paraphrased a little): X:\Sources>bootrec /Fixmbr The operation completed successfully. X:\Sources>bootrec /Fixboot The operation completed successfully. I restarted my computer, but it still didn't work. I unplugged the C: drive, then tried bootrec and Diskpart: X:\Sources> bootrec.exe X:\Sources> bootrec /RebuildBcd Total identified Windows installations: 1 [1] \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolume1\Windows Add installation to bootlist?   Just got a new Mac Pro at work and as I can't stand the ZX Spectrum-esque 'dead flies' feel of the new Apple keyboards, I brought my trusty IBM SpaceSaver II to the office (with a USB/PS2 adapter) All seems generally to work ok - even the Trackpoint 'nipple' but periodically the modifier keys, notably the Ctrl and Windows keys seem to go into 'sticky' mode so that typing an 'S' brings up the save dialog, 'O' = open dialog etc. etc. Its generally fixed by switching windows and then returning back to the offending one, but this is really beginning to cheese me off. Can anyone suggest a fix?

• Clicking hyperlinks in Email messages becomes painfully slow

  Running Windows 7 (RC, 64 bit). Suddenly, today, after months without a problem, clicking on links has become extremely slow. I've noticed this in two places. (1) clicking hyperlinks in Outlook email messages, which launches Firefox, takes around a minute. Launching Firefox by itself is instantaneous - I have an SSD drive and a very fast CPU. (2) opening Word documents attached to Outlook email messages also takes a surprisingly long time. The only thing these two might have in common is that they use the DDE mechanism, if I'm not mistaken, to send a DDE open command to the application. Under Windows XP this problem could sometimes be fixed by unchecking the "Use DDE" checkbox in the file type mapping, however, I can't find any equivalent under Windows 7. See here for someone else having what I believe is the same problem. See here for more evidence that it's DDE being super-super-slow.

• How do I set libavcodec to use 4:2:2 chroma when encoding MPEG-2 4:2:2 profile?

  I have a project using libavcodec (ffmpeg). I'm using it to encode MPEG-2 video at 4:2:2 Profile, Main Level. I have the pixel format PIX_FMT_YUV422P selected in the AVCodecContext, however the video output I'm getting has all the colours wrong, and looks to me like the encoder is incorrectly reading the buffers as though it thinks it is 4:2:0 chroma rather than 4:2:2. The given example works for PdfReader but not for PdfCopy. Edit: Why do I need PdfCopy? I tried copying a word pdf export.   Hi, I have a Microsoft Small Business Server. I have pointed an external domain name to the external fixed IP address for the server. In routing and remote access I have defined a service for our subversion server as follows: Incoming port: 8443 Private address: 192.168.10.5 Outgoing port: 8443 192.168.10.5 is our development server, not the SBS (which is at 192.168.10.1) This rule works correctly if I am not on our internal network. However if I am on the internal network this rule does not get applied. What can I do/set so this rule is applied both internally and externally (so users with laptops et, don't keep having to change the URL by which they access the subversion server) Not sure what other info you may need, so please let me know if more details are required. • WPF: Order of stretch sizing

  I'm creating a modal dialog window which contains three essential parts: a TextBlock containing instructions, a ContentControl for the dialog panel, and a ContentControl for the dialog buttons. Each of these parts are contained in a separate Grid row. I have some specific constraints when it comes to how the dialog should be sized. The issue I'm having is with the instructions TextBlock. I want the instructions to be as wide as the ContentControl for the dialog panel. The instructions should then wrap and grow vertically as needed. Should the instructions not be able to grow vertically, then it should begin to grow horizontally. Getting the instructions to be the width of the ContentControl and grow vertically was simple. The part I can't seem to figure out is how to get it to grow horizontally when out of vertical space. My initial thought was to create a class that extends TextBlock and override MeasureOverride. However, that method is sealed. Currently, I'm playing with the idea of have the dialog Window override MeasureOverride to calculate the available size for the instructions block. Am I missing a much simpler way of accomplishing this? Does anyone have any better ideas than this? Messing with MeasureOverride seems like it will be a lot of work.   I created several simple ggplot2 plots and saved them to PDF files using the following commands: p <- ggplot(plotobject, aes(x=Pos, y=Pval),res=300) ggsave(plot=p,height=6,width=6,dpi=200, filename="~/example.pdf") If I now open this example.pdf in Adobe Illustrator I get the following error: The font AdobePiStd is missing. Affected text will be displayed using a substitute font. Is there a way in ggplot2 to specify a font (I presume this is for the dots/points) that Adobe will understand or otherwise is there a way to get this font working in Adobe?

And then i have, let's say a legacy server, with external ip ip2, which sends data to ip1 (and I have another server on ip1 behind the sonicwall which receives and processes that data). I would like to set up a new server on a different external ip ip3 that will receive and process data from the legacy server. How can I setup the sonicwall so that the packets received from the legacy server (from an external ip) are port forwarded to the external ip address ip3?

  Hi I have a domain controller that I have installed active directory onto and have set up an account that I want to use for my SQL server installation on another computer that is linked onto the domain. I can search for the account in active directory and I am able to select it into the add new user section in MSSMS, however, when I click add I get 'Windows NT user or group 'DOMAIN\user' not found. Check the name again. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 15401) I have googled the Error code and I havent found a solution that has fixed the error. If you have any help I would be greatful Thanks :)
