How to draw line inside a scatter plot

I can't believe that this is so complicated but I tried and googled for a while now. I just want to analyse my scatter plot with a few graphical features. For starters, I want to add simply a line. So, I have a few (4) points and like in this plot [1] I want to add a line to it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:ROC_space-2.png [1] Now, this won't work. And frankly, the documentation-examples-gallery combo and content of matplotlib is a bad source for information. I wanted to select and fill (with any color) every other row, kinda like some of those access reports. I can do it manually coding each and every row, but two problems: 1) its a pain 2) i don't know what the record count is before hand. How can I make the code more efficient in this respect while incorporating the recordcount to know how many rows to "loop through" EDIT: Another question I have is with the selection methods I am using in the module, is there a better excel syntax instead of these with selections.... .Cells.Select With Selection.Font .Name = "Calibri" .Size = 10 End With is the only way i figure out how to accomplish this piece, but literally every other time I run this code, it fails. Distance between Long Lat coord using SQLITE

I've got an sqlite db with long and lat of shops and I want to find out the closest 5 shops. My question is. Is it better to put the distance back into the sqlite row, I have the row when I step thru the database. How do I do that? Do I use the UPDATE statement? Does someone have a piece of code to help me. I can read the sqlite into an array and then sort the array. Do you recommend this over the above approach? Is this more efficient? Finally, if someone has a better way to get the closest 5 shops, love to hear it.

Locking a table for getting MAX in LINQ

I have a query in LINQ, I want to get MAX of Code of my table and increase it and insert new record with new Code. just like the IDENTITY feature of SQL Server, but here my Code column is char(5) where can be alphabets and numeric. C# Problem with getPixel & setting RTF text colour accordingly

Heyo, I'm messing with converting images to ASCII ones. For this I load the image, use getPixel() on each pixel, then change insert a character with that colour into a richTextBox. If I change this richTextBox1.SelectionColor = bmBild.GetPixel(x, y); to this richTextBox1.SelectionColor = Color.Red; It works fine. Why am I not getting the right colours? (I know it doesn't do the new lines properly, but I thought I'd get to the bottom of this issue first.) Thanks

PHP Simple DOM Parser

Hi guys I'm using this wonderful class here to do a bit of code embed filtering: http://simplehtmldom.sourceforge.net/. It extends the PHP DOM document class. Pretty much what I am doing is parsing a string through this class that contains embed code, i grab the unique bits of information eg id, width, height send through a handler function which inserts the id, width, height etc into my predefined "safe" template and reinsert my safe template in the place of the embed code the user has put in. May seem a backward way of doing it but it's the way it has to be done :) All of that works fine. Problem is when there is more than just embed code contained in the string, as I can't just replace the embed code i can only replace the entire string which wipes the rest of the tags etc string. For example if there were a p tag that would be wiped. So my question is how using this class can i just replace the certain part of the string? Spent the last few days trying to work this out and need some more input. It appears the class can do this so i'm stumped. Why Does the iPad Main View Refuse to go FullScreen?

I am doing an imaging app for iPad and it requires use of the entire screen. The approach I have used on iPhone does not appear to work on iPad. In Interface Builder I have set the UIToolbar to translucent.This code echos the dimensions of the main view before and after requesting fullscreen. How to force ADO.Net to use only the System.String DataType in the readers TableSchema.

Howdy, I am using an OleDbConnection to query an Excel 2007 Spreadsheet. I want force the OleDbDataReader to use only string as the column datatype. The system is looking at the first 8 rows of data and inferring the data type to be Double. The problem is that on row 9 I have a string in that column and the OleDbDataReader is returning a Null value since it could not be cast to a Double. I have used these connection strings: Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source="ExcelFile.xlsx";Persist Security Info=False;Extended Properties="Excel 12.0;IMEX=1;HDR=No" Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source="ExcelFile.xlsx";Persist Security Info=False;Extended Properties="Excel 8.0;HDR=No;IMEX=1" Looking at the reader.GetSchemaTable().Rows[7].ItemArray[5], it's dataType is Double. Row 7 in this schema correlates with the specific column in Excel I am having issues with. ItemArray[5] is its DataType column Is it possible to create a custom TableSchema for the reader so when accessing the ExcelFiles, I can treat all cells as text instead of letting the system attempt to infer the datatype? I found some good info at this page: Tips for reading Excel spreadsheets using ADO.NET The main quirk about the ADO.NET interface is how datatypes are handled. (You'll notice I've been carefully avoiding the question of which datatypes are returned when reading the spreadsheet.) Are you ready for this? ADO.NET scans the first 8 rows of data, and based on that guesses the datatype for each column. Then it attempts to coerce all data from that column to that datatype, returning NULL whenever the coercion fails! How do i bind an image to a <asp:Image /> tag in Form View

First i have a getProfileImage.aspx which accepts a CusID and TN as query strings and display n image. So getProfileImage.aspx?CusID=10&TN=Y will show the image fine in the browser :) But... Now i am presented with a Form View and i want to bind the src of the image to get the image from the getProfileImage.aspx page... The following code works fine :) 10 is the customer ID and the image is working fine... <asp:Image ID="Image1" runat="server" Height="151px" ImageUrl='~/getProfileImage.aspx?CusID=10&TN=N' /> But now i want to Bind the CusID value... <asp:Image ID="Image1" runat="server" Height="151px" ImageUrl='~/getProfileImage.aspx?CusID=<%# Bind("CusID") %>&TN=N' /> This simply does not work :( The getProfileImage.aspx is called with CusID=<%... where the way i see it the <%# Bind("CusID") % is not parsed by ASP which would have returned 10... <%# Bind("CusID") %> The above tag alone will work... but inserting it to the middle of the tag seems to break it... Any suggestions ? Thanx a lot in advance :)

contentEditable cursor position/style in FireFox

I have a problem where the cursor will appear above or only partially in the div after I click in it (until I start typing at which time it behaves correctly). Any ideas on how I can stop this from happening? Atlas style map index for static google map

Hello, I'm using a static google map, but really this problem could apply to any maps project. I want to divide a map into multiple quadrants (of say 50x50 pixels) and label the columns as A, B, C.... and the rows as 1, 2, 3... Next I plan to do something like, 1) Find the markers which are the farthest north, east, south, and west 2) Use that info to to define the bounding boxes of each row and column box 3) Classify each marker by its row and column (Example Marker 1 = [A,2]) A few requirements, I don't know the zoom level because I let Google set the zoom level appropriately for me and I would rather not use an algorithm that is dependent on a zoom level. I do however know the locations of all of the markers that are shown on the map. Here is an example of a map that I would like to classify the markers for, static map example link. I found these which look like a good start, Resource 1, Resource 2 But I think I'm still in need of some help getting started. Can anyone help write out some pseudo code or post a few more resources? I'm kind of in a rut at the moment. Thanks! Much appreciated of any help!

Dynamically inserting an image with JavaScript does not work on images that 302 redirect

I am dynamically inserting an image into an HTML document using jQuery. Here is the code: var image_url = "http://www.kottke.org/plus/misc/images/castro-pitching.jpg"; var $image = $('<img src="'+image_url+'" width="50" height="50" />'); $('body').prepend($image); Notice that the image http://www.kottke.org/plus/misc/images/castro-pitching.jpg is actually a 302 redirect to http://kottkegae.appspot.com/images/castro-pitching.jpg. If you were to go to the original image in your browser, it works fine. If you were to load an HTML page with that image in an img tag, it would load fine. However, if you were to insert it dynamically using jQuery (or JavaScript, for that matter), the browser will not show the 302'ed image. If you show the redirected image, it would work fine. var image_url = "http://kottkegae.appspot.com/images/castro-pitching.jpg"; var $image2 = $('<img src="'+image_url+'" width="50" height="50" />'); $('body').prepend($image2); That's crazy, right? What gives and how can I force the image to load when inserted dynamically?

Get "term is undefined” error when trying to assign arrayList to List component dataSource

I'm creating an online game where people log in and then have the list of current players displayed. When the user enters a "room" it dispatches an SFSEvent which includes a Room object with the list of users as User objects in that room. As that event's callback function, I get the list of current users which is an Array, switch the View Stack child index, and then I wrap the user list array in an ArrayList before I assign it to the MXML Spark List component's dataSource. jQuery Autocomplete Json Ajax cross browser issue with Google Search Appliance

I am implementing a jquery autocomplete on a search form and am getting the suggestions from the Google Search Appliance Autocomple suggestions service which returns a result set in json. What I am trying to do is go off to the GSA to get suggestions when the user types something in the search box. Using this page as a proxy and setting it as the url in the jQuery autocomplete worked in both IE and FireFox.

iPhone: TableView inside UIScrollview, show vaccillating scrollbars around

Hi, I have added some table and other vies in a scrollview. scrolling in tables are working fine. But in the parent scrollview, when scrolling, a vacillating vertical scrollbars are shown, sometimes it even come to the middle of the screen. sometime show at the left side of the screen. and not limited to the vertical scrollbar region. When I set tje showsVerticalScrollIndicator = NO, it is not shown. But do you know why the scrollbar is moving around. Hello, Say i have 5 tables, tblBlogs tblBlogPosts tblBlogPostComment tblUser tblBlogMember BlogId BlogPostsId BlogPostCommentId UserId BlogMemberId BlogTitle BlogId CommentText FirstName UserId PostTitle BlogPostsId BlogId BlogMemberId Now i want to retrieve only those blogs and posts for which blogMember has actually commented. So in short, how do i write this plain old sql :- Select b.BlogTitle, bp.PostTitle, bpc.CommentText from tblBlogs b Inner join tblBlogPosts bp on b.BlogId = bp.BlogId Inner Join tblBlogPostComment bpc on bp.BlogPostsId = bpc.BlogPostsId Inner Join tblBlogMember bm On bpc.BlogMemberId = bm.BlogMemberId Where bm.UserId = 1; As you can see, everything is Inner join, so only that row will be retrieved for which the user has commented on some post of some blog. So, suppose he has joined 3 blogs whose ids are 1,2,3 (The blogs which user has joined are in tblBlogMembers) but the user has only commented in blog 2 (of say BlogPostId = 1). So that row will be retrieved and 1,3 won't as it is Inner Join. How do i write this kind of query in jpql? In jpql, we can only write simple queries like say :- Select bm.blogId from tblBlogMember Where bm.UserId = objUser; Where objUser is supplied using :- em.find(User.class,1); Thus once we get all blogs(Here blogId represents a blog object) which user has joined, we can loop through and do all fancy things. But i don't want to fall in this looping business and write all this things in my java code. Instead, i want to leave that for database engine to do. So, how do i write the above plain sql into jpql? and what type of object the jpql query will return? because i am only selecting few fields from all table. In which class should i typecast the result to? I think i posted my requirement correctly, if i am not clear please let me know. Thanks in advance :).

Flash video player doesn't play after rewriting a url

Hi! I recently started a new job working on a content management system. One of the jobs was to implement url rewriting, which i've done, but for some reason the URL rewriting has killed the ability to play flv files through FLVPlayer_Progressive. An example can be seen below: Working if you then follow the link on the menu and go to Campaigns It's a Living Thing you can see how it's not working when the url is being re-written. I have such a hard time picturing this. I just don't have the brain to do it. My question is, how do I connect the field set_of_bads to set_it_belongs_to in the bads table. This way if I want to get the entire set of data that is set1 by calling on the reports table I can do it. Example: hey reports table.. bring up the row that has the report_id 123. Okay thank you.. Now get all the rows from bads that has the set_of_bads value from the row with the report_id 123. Thanks.

I searched for it, and it has sth. to do with namespaces, but I can not solve it by myelf. Delivery of JMS message before the transaction is committed

Hi, I have a very simple scenario involving a database and a JMS in an application server (Glassfish). The scenario is dead simple: 1. an EJB inserts a row in the database and sends a message. 2. when the message is delivered with an MDB, the row is read and updated. The problem is that sometimes the message is delivered before the insert has been committed in the database. This is actually understandable if we consider the 2 phase commit protocol: 1. prepare JMS 2. prepare database 3. commit JMS 4. ( tiny little gap where message can be delivered before insert has been committed) 5. commit database I've discussed this problem with others, but the answer was always: "Strange, it should work out of the box". My questions are then: How could it work out-of-the box? My scenario sounds fairly simple, why isn't there more people with similar troubles? Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to solve this issue correctly? Here are a bit more details about my understanding of the problem: This timing issue exist only if the participant are treated in this order. If the 2PC treats the participants in the reverse order (database first then message broker) that should be fine. The problem was randomly happening but completely reproducible. I found no way to control the order of the participants in the distributed transactions in the JTA, JCA and JPA specifications neither in the Glassfish documentation. We could assume they will be enlisted in the distributed transaction according to the order when they are used, but with an ORM such as JPA, it's difficult to know when the data are flushed and when the database connection is really used. Any idea?
