  • Remove panel shadow in KDE 4.8+

    It seems that panel shadow is somehow hardcoded in KDE 4 and devs do not have any plans to change it and/or make it customizable. So, what I'm actually asking is some kind of hack (if there is any) which will remove the shadow of the panel in KDE 4.x completely (but without need to disable all desktop effects in the process). Possible application: When a user wants a completely transparent panel, no top/bottom borders at all, the shadow is completely out of place and destroys the experience.

    i'm currently in the process of creating a Windows 8 applicaiton using SharpDX (the managed c# directx wrapper). However I have ran into problems with one of my shaders and I want to know if its possible to debug such applications. PIX doesn't seem to work of directX apps as the executable does not like opening directly, and the new visual studio graphics debugging toolkit in VS2012 always states "unable to start the experiment" when I try to capture any information about my session. They do not have specific implementations that could neccessarily be demonstrated(even if you can easily demonstrate a case NOT using something like KISS... see The Daily WTF for a plethora of examples), nor do they fully explain a development process like a methodology generally would. Where does that leave these types of "rule of thumb"'s?

  • Can't repeatedly reload uwsgi

    In Ubuntu 12.04 I can only reload my uwsgi app once, after this reload and force-reload fail. This appears to be because after the first reload the process names change from uwsgi to uwsgi-core, and the reload script looks for uwsgi processes with specific pids. I'm not sure if this is just a bug, and if so is there somewhere sensible for me to report it? Otherwise is there something I could be doing wrong to cause this?

I've updated the default entry under /var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/i386/pxelinux.cfg to read as follows: - append ro initrd=initrd.img root=/dev/nbd0 init=/sbin/init-ltsp nomodeset quiet splash **single** plymouth:force-splash vt.handoff=7 nbdroot=:ltsp_i386 This kind of works! I see the boot progress to the point where it asks me to either enter the root password or Ctrl+D to bypass. However, the boot process just seems to continue without providing an chance to do either.

  • Terminal exits program before able to accept Hashcat EULA

    I'm trying to play around with hashcat,just using the examples included with the program, but before the command can run it requires me to accept the EULA. Instead of me being able to enter 'YES', the terminal appears to end the process immediately. Whenever I try to accept the EULA I get the expected 'YES: Command not found.'     I have been trying to install java on my Dedicated server. I have partially installed multiple versions of java and now cannot uninstall them as they all have dependencies. Whenever I try and un-install I get: Errors were encountered whilst processing: openjdk-6-jre-headless openjdk-6-jre E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) I AM A NEWBIE Re-install can't be done unless I contact my host and pay 15$ :(

Some properties will also have become redundant at the end of the pipeline. For example, these components could be executed: TransformCoordinatesComponent: Parse the raw coordinate data into a Coordinate type. DetermineCountryComponent: Determine and stores country code. DetermineOnRoadComponent: Determine and store whether coordinate is on a road. The way to solve this would be to create specific types for each component. The problem then is that I cannot chain them together like this. The other problem is the order of components in the pipeline matters. There is some dependency. The current structure does not provide any static or runtime checking for such a thing. Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Lots of things are nowadays done in Asia which used to be done in the U.S. or Europe: car manufacturing, making of clothes and shoes, almost all computer components, etc. And it looks that part of software development is heading the same way. In fact, it is already underway. Where I previously worked as a functional tester for a 150+ developers-project, almost a third of the positions were outsourced to India. Will this process go further and further until all software development is done in Asia?
