I have got a windows server 2003 with partitioned Hard drive 10Go and 80Go, and i want to improve the storage capacity as the little partition 10Go is almost full.
So i have got choice between partition the hard drive to equal parts, or set up a new hard drive with better storage capacity.knowing that the server has to be on service as soon as…
On a laptop, we currently use LAN(RJ45) connection to access internet.
But from time to time, on startup, the laptop "catch" an unsecured wifi hotspot from one of my neighbors,
so we would like windows 7 to NOT choose any wifi network : how this can be done ?
Is there any reason paths are still limited to ~250 characters in Windows? I'm not asking about a solution here (since there isn't one, other than \\?\ perhaps), but about why this is still an issue in 2012.
Microsoft itself has failed to provide an explanation, so I'm hoping that maybe someone here, who has more insight into this than me, can…
Hi!
I have this annoying problem that Windows 7 won't reconnect to my network drives on startup. The shares are on an Ubuntu machine.
I've tried every possible solution I've found:
Enable password on logon to give the network interface time to boot up
Check Connect using different credentials
Tried both options in this screen
Sorry…
My Windows Vista Desktop icon are all gone and I cant set them again! Is there any registry key to show them back? I used regsvr32 /u shell32.dll command but still nothing shows? what should I do?
Windows (all versions) folders have their standard names such as Users, Documents, Local Settings etc that are unfortunately translated in other language versions, and thus instead of the names that are in the path to the folder they appear in the file explorer under quite different names. For example, instead Pictures I get "Moje obrazy"…
I have somehow managed to half uninstall a windows service I was developing.
In no particular order
It won't delete if I use sc delete servicename
It gives an exception using installutil /u pathtoservice.exe
"specified service does not exist as an installed service"
And using the installer/uninstaller obviously doesn't work either…
I am trying to move _viminfo out of my home folder to make it simpler. So I added this to my _vimrc:
set viminfo+=n~\\AppBackup\\Vim\\_viminfo
However it's useless, Vim still create _viminfo in my home folder. Then I manually input the command above. This time it works fine, so I am sure the command itself is valid. How should I…
I upgraded my (fairly new, about 2 months old) computer to Windows 8 last night, and now the sound has stopped working across the entire machine. I have checked using multiple programs (iTunes, YouTube, World of Warcraft, etc) and multiple output devices (speakers and headset), checked the soundcard drivers (Asus Xonar DG 5.1),…
Hi,
Does anybody know of a good tool to collect and analyse the application logs from a number of different Windows servers running on VMWare? All servers are on the same domain.
Ideally the tool would be free and open source.
Thanks
I have a number of Windows 7 machines on an isolated development network. There is no internet access from this network.
Winodws 7 displays a yellow warning triangle on the network connection icon with a warning "No Internet Access".
Is there anyway to disable this warning - I know the internet is inaccessable and always…
It would be so useful, and not very difficult, because in fact I have Directory Opus installed (a very powerful windows explorer alternative) and it does exactly that, but only by double-clicking the desktop, not the taskbar.
Similar options with middle-click would also be nice, such as scrolling the taskbar (maybe cycling…
Please, recommend network bandwidth limiter for windows which can be controlled from command line. No need for fancy options, only limiting of overall up and down traffic of a host required.
I recall once stumbling on a program that could take multiple application windows and wrap them inside a large window with a tabbed interface. One use of this, for example, would be to wrap multiple instances of Excel into one window, and thus icon on the taskbar.
I couldn't find mention of this program via Google, because…
hi, i have a few programs that check if file exist, and if its old version delete him and paste the new one. However under Windows 7 Professional i can't delete the file some System process is always restoring it (same with the dll files) and as you can imagine a lot of programs are crashing because of that behaviour. So…
I've successfully installed Windows 8 x64 Release Preview on a 2010 Macbook Air (4GB/256GB). I was also able to install the Apple Boot Camp tools without incident, but the computer will intermittently freeze up completely (need a forced shutdown) for no apparent reason. As such, there is no logging information to help…
Hello,

Is there a way, using Windows GPO, to set up a list of "default" mapped drives that can be applied to a group of users?
I runs small network and would like to make sure that certain groups of users (like Sales or Support) have the same network shares mapped to the same drive letters irrespective of which PC they log…
Is there a method/utility to actively resize the partitions on a dual-boot macbook air, without destroying the contents? I made the Windows Partition too small initially, and all the places I've looked have stated that resizing now using bootcamp will destroy all data on the Win7 Partition.
I would prefer free, but…
