  • DokuWiki Segmentation Fault On Radius Auth

    I'm running x64 Ubuntu 12.04. I did a simple apt-get install dokuwiki to install DokuWiki. And I'm trying to follow the directions located here: http://www.dokuwiki.org/auth:radius to get Radius authentication working. Things seemed to install OK. Under Configuration Manager I selected Authentication backend to be "Radius" and filled in the Radius details at the bottom. Now, however, whenever I try to log into the Wiki, my browser gives me the following error: No data received I checked /var/log/apache2/error.log and see this: [Tue Jul 10 22:22:14 2012] [notice] child pid 5270 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) I'm fairly sure the Radius server is setup correctly as it correctly authenticates with my squid proxy and other stuff on the network. But this is about the extent of my Linux troubleshooting skills. Can anyone suggest steps for me to follow to help track down what's causing apache2 to segfault short of attaching with gdb and issuing a set follow-fork-mode? I'm also open to just hearing suggestions for simila

  • Bug fix for Eclipse runtime plugin

    This blog is intended to inform about bug fix that solves this issue. Before continuing further, one important note – the linux and mac users do not need to read further because this bug appears only on Windows.  The problem was that the runtime plugin registered new runtime and server each time the Eclipse started. Users ended up with server view looking like this: I have created new runtime plugin which is now available at the update site http://download.java.net/glassfish/eclipse/indigo (or the same ending with juno for Juno users). You will still need to unistall the buggy plugin and (optionally but recommended) to remove runtimes created by this plugin. Here is the guide how to install bugfix: Uninstall buggy runtime plugin via menu Help->About Eclipse->Installation details. Remove runtimes created by old plugin – via Window->Preferences->Server->Runtime Environment. After pressing remove button you may be asked if you want to remove also the servers based on runtime being removed. Recommended is to do so. Now you can install new runtime plugin. Go to Help->Install New Software. You may ask why I haven‘t provided the update for buggy runtime which could be installed via Check for updates feature of Eclipse. It has two main reasons: The bug fix is needed only for Windows users so I didn't want to bother other users by updating working plugin. The runtime plugin has had structure that was not quite suitable for Eclipse update. This structure is now changed so future bugs (I am sure that there will be no such ;)) can be fixed by standard update. Have a good one!

    I've been building web apps that add and remove lots of dynamic content and even structure within the page, and I'm not impressed by the method I'm using to do it. When I want to add a section or module into a position in the interface, I'm storing the html in the code, and I don't like that: if (rank == "moderator") { $("#header").append('<div class="mod_controls">' + // content, using + to implement line breaks '</div>'); } This seems like such a bad programming practice.. There must be a better way. I thought of building a function to convert a JSON structure to html, but it seems like overkill.   • CentOS (rel6) with default python 2.6, but seperate 3.3.5 installation

    I have a CentOS server (rel6) that had python installed (2.6), but I needed a few features in 3.3+. I installed 3.3 into a seperate folder and made a symbolic link to execute it: I installed setup tools: yum install python-setuptools I installed a needed module"pandas" easy_install pandas I executed my pyton script, which encountered an error that required i use a newer version I downloaded and installed Python 3.3.5 to it's own folder so as to not override my default python wget http://www.python.org/ftp/python/3.3.5/Python-3.3.5.tar.xz tar xJf ./Python-3.3.5.tar.xz cd ./Python-3.3.5 ./configure --prefix=/opt/python make make install Made s symbolic link to allow me to execute this new python: ln -s /opt/python3.3/bin/python3.3 ~/bin/py The problem is that when I execute the python script with my new py alias, it does not have all the addons needed (explicitly MySQLdb) which the default install does. How do i go about installing the MySQLdb module, or any for that matter, to be reachable or useable for the new Python 3.3.5 installation? Or is there a way to make the current modules in 2.6 available to 3.3.5 as well?

    I'm not a programmer; I'm a freelance writer and researcher. I have a client who is looking for stats on certain "threats" to the apps market in general (not any specific app store). One of them is cowboy coding: specifically, he wants to see numbers regarding how many apps have failed to function as intended/crashed/removed because of errors made by, in essence, sloppy coding. Note that I'm not here to debate the merits of cowboy coding, and whether or not it is sloppy. Is there any data about this type of development?

  • Running ADT bundle in Eclipse Indigo

    I have installed the ADT bundle for 32 bit. Using Ubuntu 12.04 The instructions said that all I have to do is run the "Eclipse" executable inside the bundle folders. It opens an instance of Eclipse Indigo(? looks different but uses the same launcher icon) and it works fine. However, when I run Eclipse Indigo (previously installed) I don't get the option to make Android apps or Change into perspectives that looked like in ADT bundle. I don't want to add another icon to my launcher. So I'm asking if I can and how to run the ADT bundle inside the Eclipse Indigo. Or at least, make and test Android apps inside Eclipse indigo.

  • Cannot Login to SBS 2008

    Hi All, I'm hoping someone has an answer for me... I installed a new Microsoft SBS 2008 server last week and everything appeared to be working normally. I went to reboot the server yesterday to finish the install for Microsoft Windows Installer 4.5 and upon reboot could no longer login to the server via either RDP or local console. The error message I get states that there are no logon servers available to service the logon request. I'm able to login to the server fine via Safe Mode with Networking but cannot login via a normal method. The server is currently at SP1. I attempted to install SP2 inside of safe mode after enabling the installation services via a registry edit but the install failed and rolled back after 2 or 3 hours. It appears that one of the services is not starting for some reason. I believe it's LSASS but can't actually login to see the active services during a normal boot. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    i have apache installed in my redhat 5.3 server machine. and i was trying to install zend server. i installed zend server with install.sh file in directory /var/zend. in my windows machine after installling zend server community edition i was able to access apache server as well as zend server. but in my linux machine localhost displays nothing and localhost:10081 shows zend server. what can i do to run my localhost? or should i seperately install apache?

  • Writing an internal disk from IMG, what XP software to use?

    I am trying to install the Chromium OS on an EEE PC 901, and I have succeeded in using Image Writer for Windows 0.2r23 to copy the IMG file to an SDHC card. Since the OS speed is limited by slow card access, I'd like to install the Chromium OS on the second, unused, internal SSD Drive, D:. However, Image Writer doesn't allow me to restore an internal drive from an IMG file. To be clear: I boot in XP on C: then run Image Writer to install the Chromium OS. Does anyone know how I can either convince Image Writer that D: is a removable drive or know of alternative program that will let me restore D: from an IMG file (non-windows file system)?

  • How to create or recover Windows Bootloader after deleting Ubuntu boot drive

    I have a computer that dual-boots (or tri-boots) Windows 8 Release Preview, Windows 7, and Ubuntu 12.04. Grub boots between Windows 8 and Ubuntu; for which I use primarily. Recently, I decided to remove Ubuntu, as I hardly used it. I deleted the Ubuntu partition accidentally before replacing the Grub bootloader. Now, whenever I want to boot the machine, it gives me the "grub-rescue" prompt -- I am unable to boot into either Windows (8 nor 7), nor Ubuntu (except via USB, of course). I do not have any Windows 7/8 recovery media, so that isn't an option. Please note that after I deleted the Ubuntu partition, I put the PC into hibernate, and then turned it on. This means the C:\ [Windows 8] drive cannot be mounted. I don't know if that is bad, but it definitely doesn't make things better. I am currently booting Ubuntu via USB, in an effort to restore the Windows bootloader. I have looked into using boot-repair to solve the problem using the instructions here, although after attempting to apply the changes, it gave the error: "Please install the [mbr] packages. Then try again." I don't know why I'm getting this error; is there a way to install the 'mbr packages?' I honestly don't know what exactly they are, nor how to install them. Are there any other options I have not yet exhausted to be able to boot back into Windows, in the case that there is a better way? I want to set the bootloader to boot into Windows 8, but booting into either Windows 7 or 8 is fine (I can use EasyBCD from there). Is there a simple solution to this? I've checked BIOS, and I haven't been able to find a way to boot into Windows.

    After days of trying all sorts of tutorials I finally found a simple solution (not necessary the best) for a functional ubuntu mail server: sudo aptitude install postfix next type sudo dpkg-reconfigure postfix and configure like this: Internet Site yourdomain.com john (type your ubuntu user) yourdomain.com, localhost.localdomain, localhost No 127.0.0.0/8 [::ffff:127.0.0.0]/104 [::1]/192.168.0.1/24 (192.198.0.1 replace with your server ip address) 0 + all next install mail-stack-delivery sudo aptitude install mail-stack-delivery At this point you have a working mail server. Next, I configured SquirrelMail and start sending and receaving mail. This configuration worked with both Apache and Nginx.

  • Linking to lua libraries w/ codeblocks on linux

    After I downloaded the source for lua, I followed the install instructions, doing... make linux install make generic install I've also done the make test and it passes, printing out Hello World, from Lua 5.1. However, I can't link to the lua libraries in CodeBlocks. I know where lualib.a is (usr/local/lib) which I set in my Search Directories for the linker. I still get error messages like... undefined reference to lua_isstring Am I missing something critical here? P.S. I had this running on Windows via Visual Studio.

    To install Maven, I downloaded the latest version from the website and then followed these steps: http://maven.apache.org/download.html#Installation The last step, the version control, does not work.   • What are the advantages of a $ SKU of VS2012 over Express?

    I will be using Visual Studio only for creating C#/XAML Windows Store apps. Is there any reason for me to purchase a "Professional" SKU of VS 2012 rather than just using the Express (free) "Metro apps with C#/XAML" version? The only thing I can think of is that I won't be able to use Resharper in the Express version (which I've already purchased a license for, but I use it at work, so that won't be a waste of money if I can't use it at home) - plus, I believe that even the Express SKU of VS 2012 will have similar code quality utility built in.

  • sshd running but no PID file

    I'm recently started using monit to monitor the status of sshd on my CentOS 5.4 server. This works fine, but every so often monit reports that sshd is no longer running. This isn't true - I am still able to login to the server via ssh, however I note the following: There is no longer any PID file at /var/run/sshd.pid - after a reboot this file exists. Once it is gone, restarting sshd via service sshd restart does not create the PID file. sudo service sshd status reports openssh-daemon is stopped - again, restarting sshd does not change this, but a reboot does. sudo service sshd stop reports failed, presumably because of the missing PID file. Any idea what is going on? Update sudo netstat -lptun gives the following output relating to port 22 tcp 0 0 :::22 :::* LISTEN 20735/sshd Killing the process with this PID as suggested by @Henry and then starting sshd via service results in service sshd status recognising the process by PID again. Would still like to understand this better. RPM verify suggested by a couple of answerers shows this: sudo rpm -vV openssh openssh-server openssh-clients | grep 'S\.5' S.5....T c /etc/pam.d/sshd S.5....T c /etc/ssh/sshd_config /etc/pam.d/sshd has the following contents: #%PAM-1.0 auth include system-auth account required pam_nologin.so account include system-auth password include system-auth session optional pam_keyinit.so force revoke session include system-auth #session required pam_loginuid.so Should that last line be commented out?   • Java and Tomcat issue

    All, At the end of my teather with this and really would appreciate any pointers. I have a system that was installed with Tomcat 5.5.9 and JRE 6 update 13. My issue is that someone has come along and installed tomcat 6 and JRE 5. By this simple action they have destroyed the apps that were originally running on the machine. I have tried to remove the tomcat and java install and from what I can see it has all been removed. My issue, I am now trying to re-install the oringinal app, but this installer now throughs up a file location error and will not re-install the apache part of the installer. Can anyone advise of any hidden location were the apache software may have installed components. This is all installed on Windows Server 2003 R2. Many thanks for your help in advance.

  • Ubuntu 11.10 and Mobility radeon HD 4570, 512MB can't find working drivers

    i'm pretty new to Linux and my new problem is ATI drivers. When i installed Ubuntu then i had black screen issue with the blinking in left upper corner, fixed it with F6 and set the "nolapic" mode, can boot only with "nolapic". Now the problem is the drivers. The suggested drivers, from the "Additional drivers" are not working. Always freeze at the login screen, the divers are: ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver Tried this method: http://drivers.downloadatoz.com/tutorial/28786,how-to-fix-amd-catalyst-11-10-not-working-on-ubuntu-11-10-issues.html? but this method break it down really hard, not ever that helped anymore: sudo /usr/share/ati/fglrx-uninstall.sh # (if it exists); sudo apt-get remove --purge fglrx*; sudo apt-get remove --purge xserver-xorg-video-ati xserver-xorg-video-radeon ; sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-ati; sudo apt-get install --reinstall libgl1-mesa-glx libgl1-mesa-dri xserver-xorg-core; sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg Now i'm here with a fresh install and i cant find anything that works, can someone help me please!     Hi, everyone: It's been a little over two weeks since the end of Oracle Open World 2012, and hope everyone has recovered sufficiently.  We have seen a tremendous amount of coverage on Oracle ADF Mobile during this Oracle Open World.  For starters, ADF Mobile demo booth was positioned in the Oracle Red Lounge in Moscone North, where all new and innovative technologies are being demonstrated.  The booth is liternally out front and the first booth in the area, and we had a lot of interested attendees talking to us.  It feels like ADF Mobile has finally arrived on the big stage. I also want to thank my fellow ADF Mobile and Fusion Middleware team members - from product managers, engineers, and product marketing, everyone worked extremely hard to make this Open World a great success for ADF Mobile.   • Good, simple reasons for having a multiple environments

    Throughout my career I had worked at companies that had a collection of different environments for different purposes. We always had more or less our desktop environment, a test environment, a QA environment, a staging environment and a production environment. This went for both servers/applications and any data sources we were using. When I started at my current company I found that 90% of the apps were either developed on a desktop environment against production data sources or developed directly on the production server depending on the platform. I wasn't phased because I was hired in part to make changes to improve the way the development team functioned, which was clear from my interview process. We slowly started to turn the philosophy and pretty soon, most of the apps could be run in either a desktop, test or production environment. Not too long after that staging came around as well. Now most of our developers see the benefit of this methodology and defend it vigilantly. However, we have a number of legacy apps that never got migrated. We also have a number of legacy programmers who think of this as a waste of time. Unfortunately, we got lip service but never full buy-in from management. We got what we thought was a commitment to invest substantially in this about a year ago, but nothing materialized despite the considerable planning that we put into it. Now we are finding that we need more and more environments. We need help from the server/network administration teams for setup and we need participation from the business stakeholders to support the release cycle. We are at a place now where a project can function what I consider "normally" only if you have the right people on the project and the time to set up the proper environments. I'd love to present a complete argument, but management really has no time and interest in hearing me out until there is a critical issue. I cant really articulate the benefits simply as it always just seemed second nature to me. I was wondering if there are any good, simple, irrefutable reasons for the separation of environments that would get managers with no development experience to get behind this idea. Are there any good resources/literature on the topic?
