  • Use jQuery to Enable/Disable a Button based on vars

    - by Rylea S.
Ok so, Im using jQuery to do username and email checks before a signup... this sets a variable true or false depending on the response from php. $(document).ready(function() { if (usr_checked == true) { if (em_checked == true) { $("#registerbttn").removeAttr("disabled"); } } else { $("#registerbttn").attr("disabled", "disabled"); } }); How exactly do i get it to watch those variables live? Thanks :D

  • Shall I optimize or let compiler to do that?

    - by Knowing me knowing you
What is the preferred method of writing loops according to efficiency: Way a) /*here I'm hoping that compiler will optimize this code and won't be calling size every time it iterates through this loop*/ for (unsigned i = firstString.size(); i < anotherString.size(), ++i) { //do something } or maybe should I do it this way: Way b) unsigned first = firstString.size(); unsigned second = anotherString.size(); and now I can write: for (unsigned i = first; i < second, ++i) { //do something } the second way seems to me like worse option for two reasons: scope polluting and verbosity but it has the advantage of being sure that size() will be invoked once for each object. Looking forward to your answers.

  • Why do I need the isset() function in php?

    - by Chris
I am trying to understand the difference between this: if (isset($_POST['Submit'])) { //do something } and if ($_POST['Submit']) { //do something } It seems to me that if the $_POST['Submit'] variable is true, then it is set. Why would I need the isset() function in this case?

  • ActiveRecord find all parents that have associated children

    - by brad
I don't know why I can't figure this out, I think it should be fairly simple. I have two models (see below). I'm trying to come up with a named scope for SupplierCategory that would find all SupplierCategory(s) (including :suppliers) who's associated Supplier(s) are not empty. I tried a straight up join, named_scope :with_suppliers, :joins => :suppliers which gives me only categories with suppliers, but it gives me each category listed separately, so if a category has 2 suppliers, i get the category twice in the returned array: Currently I'm using: named_scope :with_suppliers, :include => :suppliers and then in my view I'm using: <%= render :partial => 'category', :collection => @categories.find_all{|c| !c.suppliers.empty? } %> Not exactly eloquent but illustrates what I'm trying to achieve. Class Definitions class SupplierCategory < AR has_many :suppliers, :order => "name" end class Supplier < AR belongs_to :supplier end

  • C# method contents validation

    - by user258651
I need to validate the contents of a C# method. I do not care about syntax errors that do not affect the method's scope. I do care about characters that will invalidate parsing of the rest of the code. For example: method() { /* valid comment */ /* <-- bad for (i..) { } for (i..) { <-- bad } I need to validate/fix any non-paired characters. This includeds /* */, { }, and maybe others. How should I go about this? My first thought was Regex, but that clearly isn't going to get the job done.

  • C++ function dynamic data type definition

    - by user330352
Hi all, in C++, when you define a function which takes one argument, you have to define the data type of that variable: void makeProccess(int request) However, I want to implement a function which takes different data types rather taking statically defined integer type. void makeProccess(anyType request) How can I design a proccess like this, any idea? Thanks.

  • Why subtract a value from itself (x - x) in Python?

    - by endolith
In NumPy functions, there are often initial lines that do checking of variable types, forcing them to be certain types, etc. Can someone explain the point of these lines? What does subtracting a value from itself do? t,w = asarray(t), asarray(duty) w = asarray(w + (t-t)) t = asarray(t + (w-w))

  • Java / MySQL - How to access connection from another class?

    - by Alex
I'm just getting my head around java (and OOP for that matter), the only thing I am familiar with is MySQL. I need to keep the DB connection open throughout the duration of the application, as well as a server socket. I'm not even sure if they both need separate classes, but here's what I have so far: http://pastebin.com/qzMFFTrY (it wouldn't all go in a code tag) The variable I need is con for line 86.

    - by user547794
    Hello, I am trying to use this query to return every instance where the variable $d['userID'] is equal to the User ID in a separate table, and then echo the username tied to that user ID. Here's what I have so far: $uid = $d['userID']; $result = mysql_query("SELECT u.username FROM users u LEFT JOIN comments c ON c.userID = u.id WHERE u.id = $uid;")$row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result); echo $row['username'];

  • How to track how many times an iPhone app is opened?

    - by Jason
I am building an iphone app and would like to keep track of how many times it has been opened so that I can prompt the user to do certain actions after it has been opened X number of times. I have thought about storing a variable in Core Data which I update every time it is opened, but this seems like a waste since it is a singleton data, not multiple instances of an object. What is the best way to store data like this and access it without slowing down the app opening time?
