• C++: FFMPEG and SDL resources

  I'm looking for resources (preferably books, but websites are fine too) for using FFMPEG and/or SDL with C++. Stuff I'd like to be able to do (eventually): Decode and play videos in realtime to a QT widget (the QT part isn't a problem) Overlay text and images on the video (in realtime) Loop video Cross-fade from one video to another (in realtime) Some kind of DVD functionality LIVE sources? (i.e. webcam, stream, etc.) So far I've looked at (and consider helpful) the following resources: FFMPEG and SDL Tutorial by Dranger (extremely helpful) StackOverflow: ffmpeg C API documentation/tutorial (not a duplicate, btw) Sample code bundled with FFMPEG libraries (I'll try and update this list with anything helpful below) Thanks for any help... Also: Operating System is Windows (but maybe one day cross-platform) Also 2: Resources using alternatives are welcome too... i.e. DirectShow, VFW, etc.

• Validating single form field with CodeIgniter

  Is there a quick way to validate a single form field with CodeIgniter to see whether or not that field matches a set of rules? There's the $this-form_validation-run();, but that will return either TRUE or FALSE for the whole form, and that's just not what I'm looking for. For example, if I only wanted to check if the email was valid, checking the whole form is not going to get me the result I'm looking for. I looked through the documentation but couldn't find anything like $this-form_validation-run(); that accepts one parameter and returns TRUE or FALSE if it's valid.

• Hot to log in to a website using installed twill?

  Hello, everybody!!!! I have just successfully installed TWILL on my computer with the help of one very supportive member of "StackOverflow" (you can check it out HERE) and have tried to run one of the simple examples on the twill documentation page (you can see that page HERE). Here is that example: Let's say my username on www.slash.org is lynxye and my password is mammal. When I try to enter that exanple code into my Python prompt, I can only enter the first line of the code bexcause when I click on "Enter" to start a new line, I get some error messages right away: The same happens when I try to enter this code into my terminal: I think I miss out on some basics here. Perhaps, I need to create a file that would contain that code and then run that file somehow, but I really don't know where I need to create that file and with what extensdion. Can anyone, please, help me with this?

  Hi all, I am new to Models structure in Cakephp. A few weeks ago I came across a tutorial in which the author got three tables in Database: Table A: {ID, Description, IsActive} Table B: {ID, TableA_ID, Description, CreationDate, ModifiedDate} Table A_B: {ID, TableA_ID, TableB_ID} The author of the tutorial said that the third table (Table A_B) is needed to run in CakePHP. I don't understand. Is there any specific documentation in CakePHP that I can refer to? I know there is a CookBook in Cakephp web site, but I couldn't find the relevant infromation.

So, as it says to do in the documentation, I've added this code in my config/routes.rb file: resources :dimensions do collection do get "search" end end I've also defined in the dimensions_controller file: def search @dimensions = Dimension.all respond_to do |format| format.html # search.html.erb format.json { render json: @dimensions } end end I then stopped and restarted the rails server, but when I navigate to /dimensions/home, I'm still getting this error message: Couldn't find Dimension with id=search Also showing that my parameter is: {"id"=>"search"} So am I just missing another bit of code that gives the instruction to interpret /dimension/search as a collection action as opposed to the show action? • Javascript get li values and encode them

  At the moment I have two (maybe more) unordered lists which are sortable with jquery and ui. The things that work are that the lists are connected, items are draggable, items can be removed and a form that adds to the list. What I need however is a function that gets all the content for li items and json encode them ready to be sent off to some db function, or something. Im new to jquery however and cant find documentation for li items. Hope Ive explained this well. Daniel

  I'm developing a PHP application to retrieve the list of contacts from a GMail account. I'm looking for a solution which would enable the user of my application to provide the login and password to their Gmail account in my application (as opposed to getting redirected to Google) and then automatically do the retrieval. The retrieval process can be run in PHP or JavaScript (which would then feed the list of contacts back to PHP using Ajax). Is it possible to do that? Which JavaScript API should I use for that? Can someone point me at the right chapter in Google Contacts Data API documentation?

Is it precisely the size of the value? (I would expect so, but then why is it worded "attribute-value pair"?) Or is it the size of the attribute name plus the size of the attribute value? (In that case, there would be motivation to give your attributes really short names.) • 600 tables in DDBB

  Hi all, I'm a very young software architect. Now I'm working in a very large and I have to lead a group of developers to rewrite all the mortgage system of the bank. I'm looking at database tables and I realize that there is no any data model, neither documentation. The worst part is that there are about 1000 tables in dev environment, and like 600 in production. I trust more the production environment, but anyway, what can I do? I mean, I can suicide me or something, but is there any good reverse engineering tool, so at least I could get the schema definition with the relations between tables and comments extracted from the fields?   Hi, I have the following piece of code from a book. There is this function loadPrefs where the NSString *userTimeZone is being released before the end of the function. Why? The string was not created with alloc and I assume that the stringForKey function returns an autoreleased NSString. Is this an error or am I missing something? Is it an error in the book? (I new into objective-C) In the documentation for stringForKey the only thing it mentions is: Special Considerations The returned string is immutable, even if the value you originally set was a mutable string.   I had never noticed the __path__ attribute that gets defined on some of my packages before today. According to the documentation: Packages support one more special attribute, __path__. This is initialized to be a list containing the name of the directory holding the package’s __init__.py before the code in that file is executed. This variable can be modified; doing so affects future searches for modules and subpackages contained in the package. While this feature is not often needed, it can be used to extend the set of modules found in a package. Could somebody explain to me what exactly this means and why I would ever want to use it?

  Hi Everyone, Can someone tell me why this unit test that checks for exceptions fails? Obviously my real test is checking other code but I'm using Int32.Parse to show the issue. Obviously I'm trying to test for this exception and I think I'm missing something in my syntax. • Are there any medium-sized web applications built with CGI::Application that are open-sourced?

  I learn best by taking apart something that already does something and figuring out why decisions were made in which manner. Recently I've started working with Perl's CGI::Application framework, but found i don't really get along well with the documentation (too little information on how to best structure an application with it). There are some examples of small applications on the cgi-app website, but they're mostly structured such that they demonstrate a small feature, but contain mostly of code that one would never actually use in production. Other examples are massively huge and would require way too much time to dig through. And most of them are just stuff that runs on cgiapp, but isn't open source. As such I am looking for something that has most base functionality like user logins, db access, some processing, etc.; is actually used for something but not so big that it would take hours to even set them up. Does something like that exist or am i out of luck?

• How to launch a program as as a normal user from a UAC elevated installer

  I'm writing an NSIS installer and the setup program elevates "as administrator" as needed on Windows 7 / vista. I need to run the installed program at the end of the install and don't want to launch it with the same privileges as the installer. The regular NSIS exec commands run the child process with the same permissions as the installer. There is a UAC plugin for NSIS, but the documentation on it isn't great and it seems v. new; I'd prefer not to use that plugin. Ideally, I'm looking for a small .exe I can include that'll launch the target program without UAC elevation. Does this exist? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

• .NET Rectangle Off By 1

  After working with the .NET GDI+ Rectangle object, I've noticed that if I create a rectangle that is X:0 * Y:0 * Width:100 * Height:100, the Right and Bottom properties are set to 100, 100. Shouldn't this be 99, 99? 0 - 99 is 100 pixels. 0 - 100 is 101 pixels. FWIW, the documentation does say the right is computed by x + width and the bottom is y + height, but is that correct? Perhaps "correct" doesn't matter here as long it's consistent? All I know is that it is somewhat (read... very) annoying!

I do not want to use javascript, I need the iamge at server side. Please, do not simply post links to the API documentation, but preferably the url itself.   We're using hudson on Windows to build a .NET solution and run the unit tests (NUnit). Hudson is thereby used to start batch files that do the actual work. I am now trying to set up a new test that is to run on a build slave and will run very long. The test should use the binaries produced by the upstream build. I have searched the hudson documentation but I cannot find how to pass upstream build artifacts to downstream slaves. How do I do this?

  Hello, Many Zw* functions that work with files (such as ZwCreateFile) need to be called at PASSIVE_LEVEL with APCs enabled: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff566424%28VS.85%29.aspx. This is because, internally, I/O operations are asynchronously and the completion of an operation is delivered through an APC (correct me if I'm wrong). However, the documentation for similar functions from a mini-filter (such as FltCreateFile, FltReadFile, etc) does not specify that APCs should be enabled. Is it safe to call FltCreateFile/FltReadFile with APCs disabled? Thanks!

• Profiling and Graphics.updateDisplay0()

  I am profiling my BlackBerry application (a game) with the options 'In method only' and 'Time including native method'. Under the 'All methods' node (after a decent run of the game) the single most time consuming function is Graphics.updateDisplay0() with over 50% of the run time spent there. I don't quite know what is the purpose of that function or if I can do anything to reduce its processing time, so if anyone can shed some light on the matter, I would be grateful. Because from what I understand with the 'In method only' option, it means there is some processing within that function. ps. there is no information on that function in the documentation.

The main thing I'm wondering about is post data, but the details of exactly what is sent would be useful. I'm considering implementing it on a sites that have a lot of private data on them. • Textmate newbie question: how to indent CSS

  New to TextMate and can't find the answer in the documentation. I've saved an empty file as CSS and the 'active bundle' is showing as CSS, at the bottom of the screen. I've then pasted in a bunch of CSS from elsewhere (a minified page). However, it's all pasted in as a single line. How can I indent it to look like 'proper' CSS, using TextMate? Text + Indent just indents the whole line by a single tab. thanks!
