  • How to use JQuery to truncate the contents of option tags?

    Hello! Please take a look here: http://www.binarymark.com/Products/FLVDownloader/order.aspx What I am trying to do is to get rid of the prices inside the option tag. On that page you can see a drop-down box under Order Information, Product. I want to remove the prices from all the options that contain them in that box, so get rid of " - $75.98" for example. I am not used to JQuery, but I realize it would be possible - just not sure how to do it, so your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. George

  • Scale div in an upwards direction, instead of down?

    I have a custom info window over a google map, sometimes these info windows contain an image. When they do, the info window scales down over the marker it is positioned over as soon as the image has finished loading. So the images take longer to load and the div's position has already been calculated by the time the image is finished loading. I do believe there is a way of checking if an image has finished loaded, but that seems a long route - is there not a simple way with JS or CSS to get the div to scale upwards instead of down. Anyone have any clues?

  • Styling a list as tabs with a background overflowing into content

    I couldn't think of any better way to name this question, but I'll explain. I have a mediawiki website with a background pattern (like parchment) behind the articles. At the top of each article I want to have tabs like wikipedia does (with page | talk | edit etc links). The problem is, the tabs should seamlessly fit with the article's background and I can't figure out if this is actually possible. The way I was trying to do it was positioning the list inside the actual content div and give the <li items a transparent background, but as far as I can see there's no way to color the rest of the <ul's background black without affecting the <li's in there.   • htmlspecialchars() - How and when to use and avoid multiple use

    Hi, I'm building a PHP intranet for my boss. A simple customer, order, quote system. It will be denied access from the Internet and only used by 3 people. I'm not so concerned with security as I am with validation. Javascript is disables on all machines. The problem I have is this: Employee enters valid data into a form containing any of the following :;[]"' etc. Form $_POSTS this data to a validationAndProcessing.php page, and determines whether the employee entered data or not in to the fields. If they didn't they are redirected back to the data input page and the field they missed out is highlighted in red. htmlspecialchars() is applied to all data being re-populated to the form from what they entered earlier. Form is then resubmitted to validationAndProcessing.php page, if successful data is entered into the database and employee is taken to display data page. My question is this: If an employee repeatedly enters no data in step 1, they will keep moving between step 1 and 4 each time having htmlspecialchars() applied to the data. So that:- & becomes:- &amp; becomes:- &amp;amp; becomes:- &amp;amp;amp; etc.. How can I stop htmlspecialchars() being applied multiple times to data that is already cleaned? Thanks, Adam

As it is important to be aware of near future of tools that you are using, what do you think, Will Microsoft replace Silverlight with HTML5 or not? I myself believe that it will happen in 2012, the time that HTML5 released completely, and Microsoft are releasing VS2012.

  • How To Left Align List Items when Unordered List is Centered on the Page

    Hi, I have a div that holds an unordered list with several list items. I am using ie6 and am basically trying to center the unordered list on the screen but at the same time want the actual list item text aligned to the left. At the moment, I have my unordered list within the center tags, which has centered the list but I would actually like to now left align the actual list item text. Can someone pls assist as I am unable to left the align the text now? Thanks.

  • Error in Decompression?

    I am writing a crawler for a website. Its response is gzip encoded. I am not able to parse correctly a particular field, though the decompression is successful. I am also using htmlagilitypack to parse it, the parsed value of the field is only a part of the original value as an example : I am getting only /wEWAwKc04vTCQKb86mzBwKln/PuCg== whereas the firebug shows the actual value as much longer: /wEWBgKj7IuJCgKb86mzBwKln/PuCgLT250qAtC0+8cMAvimiNYD what does the '==' at the end means? I am assuming it that its a error on decompressors behalf?

  • Dynamically changing background color of specific text without changing other attributes

    I've written a chrome extension to find text on a page based on a regex query. When text is matched, I wrap the matched text in a <span> tag that has the class highlight where highlight only changes the background color to yellow. The issue is that sometimes there are already styles applied to <span> tags in a webpage. For example, the webpage might have this defined: span { font-size: 200%; } So when I insert my <span> tag in another <span> tag, the font-size is actually 400%. Is there an easy way for my code to just change certain properties of the text, like the background color, without applying the webpage's styles twice?

    i am using Jvectormap to place 2 maps on my page. the maps are placed normally and everything is fine. they are placed in 2 different divs: <div id="map1"> </div> <div id="map2"> </div> and the Jquery: $(function () { $('#map1').vectorMap({ color: '#aaaaaa', backgroundColor: '#ffffff', hoverOpacity: 1, hoverColor: true }); }); $(function () { $('#map2').vectorMap({ color: '#aaaaaa', backgroundColor: '#ffffff', hoverOpacity: 1, }); }); Now when I try to change the colors of map2 dynamically using: $("#map2").vectorMap("set", "colors", colorsDictionnary); The colors of the first one only is changed. and this happens only when changing colors. Always the first one have it's colors changed even if I am using $("#map2") How can change the colors of the map2 without touching map1? Thank you very much for any help, I really need it

    Hi all, I face issue with retrieving (via javascript) width of the div which content is changed (just before reading the widht via offsetWidth) in dynamic way (via changing innerHTML or using createTextNode).   • Align 3 images in a div , left-centre-right, uneven margin

    I could find a work around for this if I wanted but it seems wrong and am trying to learn to code in a neater way. Basically I have a div with 3 images in it, the div is 700px, and each image is 220px, So thats 660px with two 20px gaps left and right of the centre image, and the outside images going all the way to their end of the div. Is there a quicker way of doing this without setting up seperate ids for each image? .contentpictureblock { float:left; } .contentpictureblock img { margin-right:20px; } <div class="contentpictureblock"> <img src="http://..."> <img src="http://..."> <img src="http://..."> </div> Doing the above^ pushes the third image to the next line, which is understandable. I know I could always make seperate divs for each image, and adjust the margins for each one but Im just wondering is there a quicker one off overflow type command that I could apply to the above? It would mean the right margin would be on all the images but would have no effect on its positioning in the last image. Thanks for the help.

    I have form below which contains a text field and a button. when i start typing it shows hints from my database and on clicking button or hiting enter key it displys search results. ajax technology is used for both hints and search results and it is working well but THE PROBLEM IS THAT IT WORKS ONLY THE FIRST TIME PAGE LOADS OR ONLY AFTER REFRESHING THE PAGE. IF I WANT ANOTHER SEARCH IT DOESNT RESPOND, JUST SHOWS THE PREVIOS SEARCH RESULT UNLESS THE PAGE IS REFRESHED. <input type="text" id="txt" onkeyup="showhint(this.value)"/> <input type="button" value="search" onclick="searchresult()"/> what kind of problem is this?? any solution?? plz plz plz

  • PhpBB3: adding background to specific php generated text input without affecting the other text inputs

    I have created a custom PhpBB3 style and desperately since a few hours tried to add a background image to a specific comment text area. With firebug I checked if the comment text area had a class and it does, so I tried some css variations and finally tried: sn-inputComment { background: url("{T_THEME_PATH}/images/pencil.png") repeat-x left top #FFFFFF;} { I also tried to find and manipulate the php generated text area but no success. Non of my methods worked. I will provide you all with a tinylink url to my forum with a test user and password access.     So, for instance facebook's search bar has faint word that says "search", but when you click on the bar, it becomes blank and you may begin typing, when you click away the "search" goes back. Similarly, SO's ask a question title box has faint words that go away when you start typing. I'm not too sure what this effect is called, but I'm wondering if theres a jQuery plugin that helps to achieve this. This isn't particularly difficult to program, but I thought why reinvent the wheel if someone already made a plugin for it.
