  • possible to auto zoom out if user's resolution < x ?

    my site is aimed purely at the laptop market (dont ask why or argue!), all my users (or 95%+) we on a screen width of 1200+, netbooks are now taking off, with a resolution of 1024 wide. my site still looks great on a netbook if you zoom out once (ctrl-minus), but i don't want to rely on users knowing about ctrl-minus. what are my options besides redesign? I'm keen not to have zoom buttons on my page. is there a javascript zoomer outer?!!!

  • Using Javascript, How do I bring an already existing open window to the front on top of other window

    The question was fairly descriptive but I'll describe it further. Basically, I have Window1, clicking a button link opens window2. Clicking a button in window2 opens window3, clicking a button in window3 should bring window2 back to the front of the screen on top of window2. I'm not sure how this is exactly done, however I have used and played around with focus(), opener and other various methods and I cannot seem to get it to work properly. Thanks for any help in advance!

  • Align col in a bootstrap collapsable menu

    I got my hands on bootstrap recently and I'm still discovering it. I made collapsable menu from a tutorial online but now that I want to had an image on each entry of my menu that I wasn't expecting. I want my image to be always aligned to the text in the menu but it still getting on top of it. I tried to remove row and col tag and forget about the responsiveness of my menu but it still doesn't work...     I managed to create a page the crashes IE6 and 7 regularly as per here: http://raven-seo-tools.com/blog/2675/crash-ie6-with-only-css I have a solution for non-IE browsers (display: inline-block), but the only way to get IE6/7 working is to use different CSS (display: inline). Normally I would have other browsers use inline-block, then in a seperate IE67 CSS file I would set display to inline. The problem is IE67 crash as soon as they reach the display: inline-block line, so I need a way to hide this code from IE6 and 7 but not other browsers.

  • Why does ASP.Net rewrite relative paths for runat=server anchor controls?

    I have my UserControls in a ~/Controls folder in my solution: /Controls/TheControl.ascx If specify the following: <a runat="server" href="./?pg=1">link text</a> ASP.Net seems to want to rewrite the path to point to the absolute location. For example, If the control is on site.com/products/fish/cans.aspx the link href will be rewritten to read <a href="../../Controls/?pg=1>link text</a> Why does Asp.Net rewrite these control paths, and is there an elegant way to fix it? I just want the anchor control to spit out exactly what I tell it to!!! Is that so hard?

    I need to create a chat layout that uses all the available space and scales nicely, but has few fixed sizes. Here's the structure: <table style="width: 100%; height: 100%"> <tr> <td></td> <td style="width: 200px; background: red;"></td> </tr> <tr> <td style="height: 100px; background: blue"></td> <td></td> </tr> </table> However, I want to place a lot of content in the first table cell and I want it to scroll, so it won't expand the table. Is it possible to make it overflow properly, without having a fixed height for the cell? Simply adding overflow: auto doesn't seem to work. PS. I hate tables, but can't figure out a very clean and cross-browser way to do a layout like this with divs and css. If someone can come up with one, I'll gladly use it.

    There are a lot of questions about formatting forms so that labels align, and almost all the answers which suggest a pure CSS solution (as opposed to using a table) provide a fixed width to the label element. But isn't this mixing content and presentation? In order to choose the right width you basically have to see how big your longest label is and try a pixel width value until "it fits". This means that if you change your labels you also have to change your CSS.

When I click a list item I want jQuery to check if the first letter of the item matches the first letter in any table cell in my markup, if so the parent table row should be shown and other rows should be hidden.
