• How to manually build mysql cache

  I have a table of over 150,000 rows of which most would be updated daily. I have mysql caching turned on so the pages load faster however everytime the database is updated the pages load slow again, which I assume is the cache building itself again. So at the moment I have resorted to doing a wget -m --delete-after http://localhost/ on the server however this takes about 4 hours to complete and moves something like 13 gig. Is there a better way to do this?

• 301 redirects in .htaccess on apache

  I guess this should be straightforward but my host got me to switch server from zeus to apache following which the .htaccess file with existing individual 301 redirects failed to work causing an internal server error, so have commented them out for the time being. Could someone explain how to set these up to work in their new apache context?   I'm using the standard gcc compiler in math software development with C-language. I don't know that much about compilers or compiler options, and I was just wondering, is it possible to make faster executables using another compiler or choosing better options? The default Makefile sets options -ffast-math and -O3 and I think both of them have some impact in the overall calculation time. My software is using memory quite extensively, so I imagine some options related to memory management might do the trick? Any ideas?

  Do you know how to make it more stable, maybe properties to set, memory to allocate? It always hangs up when redeploying web apps, thru manager (wars), web interface or maven plugin. every second time it gives PermGenSpace, no memory errors etc. on my local machine 3gb ram.   My program frequently stops with a deadlock. The error goes away when I remove the "#if DEBUG System... #endif" code but I'm curious why this behavior happens. For example, a default project has this: war/projectname.html I'd like to just make a few static folders with static pages that are like: war/projectname.html war/signup/index.html war/about/index.html so that my users can just hit those static pages like: www.myproject.com/signup www.myproject.com/about where would I put folders like that in our project tree? I tried putting them under war/, just beside projectname.html (like above), but they don't seem to be available there, I just get a 404 error, Thanks

  Windows XP, IE 7 If the data in one of the column in table is more than say 800 bytes, it seems to print partial pages. Previews also appears same (span into multiple partial pages). What is the best way so that large number of rows with wide coulumns (fixed width) are printed properly without giving blank or partial page. Used table with thead and colgroup with width in 14%.

In Visual Studio 2010, it has apparently loaded some extensions related to Team Foundation Server, since I have menu items and dialog choices for it. Questions: Would I save a noticable amount of memory (even a couple of MB would be good) if I managed to disable this? How do I disable it?
