  • java classcast exception

    hi i have problems in converting an XML document type into a Document object.. this is the piece of code line 1 : Document doc=null; line 2 : doc = (Document) parser.parse(sourceFile); for this line 2 it throws java classcast exception.. without the typecast it shows error as "Type mismatch: cannot convert from org.w3c.dom.Document to javax.swing.text.Document" how do i now typecast properly? any suggestions??

Is it gets cleared by itself? If the answer is yes, how and when it is cleared? By the way, is there any other "easy and clean" ways to change the vector as in line 2?     At work we are inte process of starting development on a new web-based product. Before doing so we need to establish what technology stack we are going to use. For this application my preference would have been to use Django but since the development- and management-team is soo heavily rooted with Microsoft the new product will have to be based on Microsoft technologies. So my question is, what setup, with Microsoft technologies, would most resemble a django setup with its MVT-design?

  • Show surrounding words when searching for a specific word in a text file (Ruby)

    Hi, I'm very new to ruby. I'm trying to search for any instance of a word in a text file (not the problem). Then when the word is discovered, it would show the surrounding text (maybe 3-4 words before and after the target word, instead of the whole line), output to a list of instances and continue searching. Example "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog." Search word = "jumped" Output = "...brown fox jumped over the..." Any help is appreciated. Thanks! I expected the pipes to be between the variables. Why are the pipes getting printed after all the three variables?

  • why does setting stderr=subprocess.STDOUT fix a subprocess.check_output call?

    I have a python script running on a small server that is called in three different ways - from within another python script, by cron, or by gammu-smsd (an SMS daemon with the wonderful mobile utility [gammu]). The script is for maintenance and contained the following kludge to measure used space on the system (presumably this is possible from within Python, but this was quick and dirty): reportdict['Used Space'] = subprocess.check_output(["df / | tail -1 | awk '{ print $5; }'"], shell=True)[0:-1] Oddly enough this line would only fail when the script was called by a shell script running from gammu-smsd. The line would fail with a CalledProcessError exception saying "returned exit status 2", even though the output attribute of the CalledProcessError object contained the correct output. The only command in the sequence of shell commands that would give such an error status would be awk, with status 2 indicating a fatal error. If the python script with this line was called by cron, by another python script, or from the command line, this line would work fine. I broke my head trying to fix the environment for the script, thinking this must be the problem. Finally though I put in stderr=subprocess.STDOUT, like so: reportdict['Used Space'] = subprocess.check_output(["df / | tail -1 | awk '{ print $5; }'"], stderr=subprocess.STDOUT, shell=True)[0:-1] This was a debug measure to help me figure out if some output was coming on stderr. But after this the script started working, even when called from gammu-smsd! Why might this be the case? I ask for future reference when using subprocess...

  • PHP's fopen is terminally failing

    Okay, I have GOT to be missing something totally rudimentary here. I have an extremely simple use of PHP's fopen function, but for some reason, it will not open the file no matter what I do. The odd part about this is that I use fopen in another function in the same script and it's working perfectly. I'm using the fclose in both functions. So, I know it's not a matter of a rogue file handle. I have confirmed the file's path and the existence of the target file also. I'm running the script at the command-line as root, so I know it's not apache that's the cause. And since I am running the script as root, I am fairly confident that permissions are not the issue.   • issue running a batch script to kill a process

    I am using the following script on a command line to kill a hypothetical notepad process (using a Korn shell in Windows XP, if that matters): kill $(tasklist | grep -i notepad.exe | awk '{print 2}') Now I take this line, and put it into a batch file c:\temp\testkill.bat, thinking that I should just as well be able to kill the process by running the batch file. However, when I run the batch file, I get the following awk error about unbalanced parentheses: C:/Temp ./testkill.bat C:\Tempkill $(tasklist | grep -i notepad.exe | awk '{print $2}') awk: unbalanced () Context is: {print $2}) <<< C:/Temp So I'm baffled as to why I am getting this error about unbalanced parentheses when I run this script via a batch file, but have no issues when I run the command directly from the command line? (Btw, I'm not necessarily tied to this way of killing a process - as a total noob to shell scripting, I am additionally wondering why if I write the following on the command line: tasklist | grep -i notepad.exe | awk '{print $2}' | kill the process ID that comes out of the tasklist/grep/awk calls doesn't seem to properly get piped to kill...)

  • How do I detect a click event on a google maps PolyLine overlay?

    It seems to me that I should be able to do the following to detect a click event on a line on a google map: var line = new GPolyline( ... ); map.addOverlay(line); GEvent.addListener(line, "click", function(latlng){ alert("clicked"); }); The api reference says this is available in version 2.88, which was released in 2007(!?), so I'm assuming that's what I'm using, but I don't know how to confirm that. I also tried setting the {clickable:true} option explicitly (it's supposed to be the default.) I've tested in FireFox 3 and Opera 9.6 so doubt it's browser specific. I'm also using jQuery on the page. I have plenty of code detecting clicks on markers that works fine, clicking on lines would be really nice, can anyone enlighten me?

    Here are the relevant models: User Product Order A User can sell or buy products An order has a buyer, a seller and one product I know that I can do this with a HABTM relationship between orders and user, but is seems to me like it would be simpler to put in the Order table the following columns: :seller_id :buyer_id and manage those relationships manually as orders are only created once and never edited. However, this doesn't seem very Rails-like and I am wondering if I am missing something conceptually at the HABTM relationship.

  • perl regular expressions substitution/replacement using variables with special characters

    Okay I've checked previous similar questions and I've been juggling with different variations of quotemeta but something's still not right. I have a line with a word ID and two words - the first is the wrong word, the second is right. And I'm using a regex to replace the wrong word with the right one. $line = "ANN20021015_0104_XML_16_21 A$xAS A$xASA"; @splits = split("\t",$line); $wrong_word = quotemeta $splits[1]; $right_word = quotemeta $splits[2]; print $right_word."\n"; print $wrong_word."\n"; $line =~ s/$wrong_word\t/$right_word\t/g; print $line; What's wrong with what I'm doing? Edit The problem is that I'm unable to retain the complete words - they get chopped off at the special characters. This code works perfectly fine for words without special characters. The output I need for the above example is: ANN20021015_0104_XML_16_21 A$xASA A$xASA But what I get is ANN20021015_0104_XML_16_21 A A Because of the $ character.

    Hi all I have this line in my php code $insert = "DELETE FROM allocation_table WHERE job = '$jobnumber' " ; Mysql_query ($insert) ; The problem is it will remove all the values from the the one line in my table but not the entry itself. as you can see in the picture if I delete where job = 315 , it does not delete the line but does delete all the entries Yet in this code that preceeds it (a different table) . it works fine and the whole line is removed $insert = "DELETE FROM event WHERE jobnumber = '$jobnumber' " ; mysql_query ($insert) ;enter code here can anyone offer some advice please ??
