  • Updated Virtual Machine for VS/TFS 2010

    - by Enrique Lima
If you had downloaded the previous version of the virtual machines, then you are likely aware they are set to expire soon (12/15/2010). Brian Keller announced yesterday (blog post here) the availability of a vm refresh (new expiration set for 6/1/2011). What is part of the refresh? Here is the excerpt from Brian’s post: “ The version of this virtual machine which was refreshed on December 9, 2010, includes the following additions: · Visual Studio 2010 Feature Pack 2 · Team Foundation Server 2010 Power Tools (September 2010 Release) · Visual Studio 2010 Productivity Power Tools (these are disabled in VS so that the screenshots of the hands-on-labs still match; you can quickly enable the Productivity Power Tools via Tools -> Extension Manager from within Visual Studio) · Test Scribe for Microsoft Test Manager · Visual Studio Scrum 1.0 Process Template · All Windows Updates through December 8, 2010 · Lab Management GDR (KB983578) · Visual Studio 2010 Feature Pack 2 pre-requisite hotfix (KB2403277) · Microsoft Test Manager hotfix (KB2387011) · Minor fit-and-finish fixes based on customer feedback · A new expiration date of June 1, 2011” The links to download the Virtual Machines are: Hyper-V: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=e0198b64-4acb-4709-b07f-359fb4d523bc&displaylang=en Windows Virtual PC (Win 7): http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=509c3ba1-4efc-42b5-b6d8-0232b2cbb26e&displaylang=en

  • Ubuntu won't wake after pm-suspend

    - by Matus
i have ubuntu 12.04 on my Zotac AD-02. Problem is when i run pm-suspend. zotac goes to sleep (it shows red led, and green light is flashing) but when i send magic packet to WOL it hangs ... it stops flashing and LED is green as its turned on but SSH wont run and it won't react to mouse or anything. I've read that sometimes it has something to do with graphics. It is mainly for DLNA and PLEX so i don't use any graphic component so if there is the problem tell me how to disable it :) is there some log or anything i can post? im fairly good at bash but not at all in ubuntu or debian. so i can't find any log. Thanks EDIT: here is lscpi if it helps

  • Nearest color algorithm using Hex Triplet

    - by Lijo
Following page list colors with names http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_colors. For example #5D8AA8 Hex Triplet is "Air Force Blue". This information will be stored in a databse table (tbl_Color (HexTriplet,ColorName)) in my system Suppose I created a color with #5D8AA7 Hex Triplet. I need to get the nearest color available in the tbl_Color table. The expected anaser is "#5D8AA8 - Air Force Blue". This is because #5D8AA8 is the nearest color for #5D8AA7. Do we have any algorithm for finding the nearest color? How to write it using C# / Java? • Changing color of HighlighBrushKey in XAML

    - by phil
    Hi, I have the following problem. The background color in a ListView is set LightGreen or White, whether a boolflag is true or false. Example Screen Window1.xaml: <Window.Resources> <Style TargetType="{x:Type ListViewItem}"> <Style.Triggers> <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding Path=BoolFlag}" Value="True"> <Setter Property="Background" Value="LightGreen" /> </DataTrigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style> </Window.Resources> <StackPanel> <ListView ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Personen}" SelectionMode="Single" SelectionChanged="ListViewSelectionChanged"> <ListView.View> <GridView> <GridViewColumn DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Path=Vorname}" Header="Vorname" /> <GridViewColumn DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Path=Nachname}" Header="Nachname" /> <GridViewColumn DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Path=Alter}" Header="Alter" /> <GridViewColumn DisplayMemberBinding="{Binding Path=BoolFlag}" Header="BoolFlag" /> </GridView> </ListView.View> </ListView> </StackPanel> Window1.xaml.cs: public partial class Window1 : Window { private IList<Person> _personen = new List<Person>(); public Window1() { _personen.Add(new Person { Vorname = "Max", Nachname = "Mustermann", Alter = 18, BoolFlag = false, }); _personen.Add(new Person { Vorname = "Karl", Nachname = "Mayer", Alter = 27, BoolFlag = true, }); _personen.Add(new Person { Vorname = "Josef", Nachname = "Huber", Alter = 38, BoolFlag = false, }); DataContext = this; InitializeComponent(); } public IList<Person> Personen { get { return _personen; } } private void ListViewSelectionChanged(object sender, SelectionChangedEventArgs e) { Person person = e.AddedItems[0] as Person; if (person != null) { if (person.BoolFlag) { this.Resources[SystemColors.HighlightBrushKey] = Brushes.Green; } else { this.Resources[SystemColors.HighlightBrushKey] = Brushes.RoyalBlue; } } } } Person.cs: public class Person { public string Vorname { get; set; } public string Nachname { get; set; } public int Alter { get; set; } public bool BoolFlag { get; set; } } Now I want to set the highlight color of the selected item, depending on the boolflag. In Code-Behind I do this with: private void ListViewSelectionChanged(object sender, SelectionChangedEventArgs e) { Person person = e.AddedItems[0] as Person; if (person != null) { if (person.BoolFlag) { this.Resources[SystemColors.HighlightBrushKey] = Brushes.Green; } else { this.Resources[SystemColors.HighlightBrushKey] = Brushes.RoyalBlue; } } } } This works fine, but now I want to define the code above in the XAML-file. With <SolidColorBrush x:Key="{x:Static SystemColors.HighlightBrushKey}" Color="Green" /> I can overwrite the default-value. However, it works, but the color is set to Green for all selected items. I have tried different ways to switch the color of HighlightBrushKey between Green and Blue in XAML, depending on the boolflag, but I didn't succeed. May you can help me and give me some examples?

  • ComboBox values disappears after selected when objects used for display

    - by Gakk
I have a combobox where I want to display objects and have enum values returned. When first opened the combobox displays the items as supposed, but after a value is chosen it seems to disappear from the list. But if the combobox is active I can use the keyboard to navigate up and down between the other values, so they are in the list but only invisible. I have created a little test application to show my problem. When started the application shows the combobox with all the choices (the two first are type of Object, the third is a String): After the blue line is selected and when the combobox is opened again this line is missing: When the line with the text "Green" is selected that line is still showing: If I had chosen the red line the only thing that would still be in the list is the test "Green". I am using .NET Framework 3.5. Any hints or tips to why the elements disappears? Here are all the code needed after starting a blank project in Visual Studio. MainWindow.xaml.cs: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Diagnostics; namespace Test { public partial class MainWindow { public MainWindow() { InitializeComponent(); } private ColorComboBoxValue _activeColor; public ColorComboBoxValue ActiveColor { get { return _activeColor; } set { _activeColor = value; Debug.WriteLine("ActiveColor: " + _activeColor.Color); } } } public class ColorList : List<ColorComboBoxValue> { } public class ColorComboBoxValue { public Color Color { get; set; } public Object Object { get; set; } } public enum Color { Red, Blue, Green } } MainWindow.xaml: <Window x:Class="Test.MainWindow" x:Name="window" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:System="clr-namespace:System;assembly=mscorlib" xmlns:local="clr-namespace:Test" Title="ComboBoxTest" Height="100" Width="200"> <Window.Resources> <local:ColorList x:Key="ColorList"> <local:ColorComboBoxValue Color="Red"> <local:ColorComboBoxValue.Object> <Path Data="M0,0 L0,30 60,30 60,0 Z" Fill="Red"/> </local:ColorComboBoxValue.Object> </local:ColorComboBoxValue> <local:ColorComboBoxValue Color="Blue"> <local:ColorComboBoxValue.Object> <Path Data="M0,0 L0,30 60,30 60,0 Z" Fill="Blue"/> </local:ColorComboBoxValue.Object> </local:ColorComboBoxValue> <local:ColorComboBoxValue Color="Green"> <local:ColorComboBoxValue.Object> <System:String>Green</System:String> </local:ColorComboBoxValue.Object> </local:ColorComboBoxValue> </local:ColorList> </Window.Resources> <ComboBox ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource ColorList}}" SelectedItem="{Binding ActiveColor, ElementName=window}"> <ComboBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ContentPresenter Content="{Binding Path=Object}"/> </DataTemplate> </ComboBox.ItemTemplate> </ComboBox> </Window>

  • Block Hover Effect - Why doesn't it work correctly in FF3.6?

    - by Brian Ojeda
Why doesn't following code work correctly in FireFox 3.6? I have tested in IE7, IE8, and Chrome with out any issues. Issue: The first block hover link (the table's 3rd row) doesn't apply the same style/effect as the following below it. Notes: I am trying to create my own table framework. This project is something I am doing to learn more about CSS. Before I started, I thought I knew a lot about CSS. However, to my surprise I was wrong. Who knew? Moving on... As side note, I do not want to take the time to support IE6. So, if you see a problem related IE6, please don't waste your time telling. One another side note, the following style script and HTML listed when this question is strip-down/bare-bone of the complete CSS/HTML. It should be enough to assist me. • Setting an XAML Window always on top (but no TopMost property)

    - by Brian Scherady
I am developing an application based on OptiTrack SDK (from NaturalPoint). I need to run the application window as "Always on Top". The window is designed in XAML and is controled in the class "CameraView" but it does not seem to include a "TopMost" property or equivalent. Attached are the code of "CameraView.xaml.cs" and the code of "CameraView.xaml" that are part of OptiTrack SDK (NaturalPoint) called "Single_Camera_CSharp_.NET_3.0". One could expect the class CameraView to contain properties or members to set the position of the window on the screen or to set it to TopMost but as far as searched I found nothing. I wonder what I should do. • Conflict between two Javascripts (MailChimp validation etc. scripts & jQuery hSlides.js)

    - by Brian
I have two scripts running on the same page, one is the jQuery.hSlides.js script http://www.jesuscarrera.info/demos/hslides/ and the other is a custom script that is used for MailChimp list signup integration. The hSlides panel can be seen in effect here: http://theatricalbellydance.com. I've turned off the MailChimp script because it was conflicting with the hSlides script, causing it not to to fail completely (as seen here http://theatricalbellydance.com/home2/). Can someone tell me what could be done to the hSlides script to stop the conflict with the MailChimp script? • How do I get my dependenices inject using @Configurable in conjunction with readResolve()

    - by bmatthews68
The framework I am developing for my application relies very heavily on dynamically generated domain objects. I recently started using Spring WebFlow and now need to be able to serialize my domain objects that will be kept in flow scope. I have done a bit of research and figured out that I can use writeReplace() and readResolve(). The only catch is that I need to look-up a factory in the Spring context. I tried to use @Configurable(preConstruction = true) in conjunction with the BeanFactoryAware marker interface. But beanFactory is always null when I try to use it in my createEntity() method. Neither the default constructor nor the setBeanFactory() injector are called. Has anybody tried this or something similar? I have included relevant class below. • How does Windows 7 taskbar "color hot-tracking" feature calculate the colour to use?

    - by theyetiman
This has intrigued me for quite some time. Does anyone know the algorithm Windows 7 Aero uses to determine the colour to use as the hot-tracking hover highlight on taskbar buttons for currently-running apps? It is definitely based on the icon of the app, but I can't see a specific pattern of where it's getting the colour value from. It doesn't seem to be any of the following: An average colour value from the entire icon, otherwise you would get brown all the time with multi-coloured icons like Chrome. The colour used the most in the image, otherwise you'd get yellow for the SQL Server Management Studio icon (6th from left). Also, the Chrome icon used red, green and yellow in equal measure. A colour located at certain pixel coordinates within the icon, because Chrome is red -indicating the top of the icon - and Notepad++ (2nd from right) is green - indicating the bottom of the icon. I asked this question on ux.stackoverflow.com and it got closed as off-topic, but someone answered with the following: As described by Raymond Chen in this MSDN blog article: Some people ask how it's done. It's really nothing special. The code just looks for the predominant color in the icon. (And, since visual designers are sticklers for this sort of thing, black, white, and shades of gray are not considered "colors" for the purpose of this calculation.) However I wasn't really satisfied with that answer because it doesn't explain how the "predominant" colour is calculated. Surely on the SQL Management Studio icon, the predominant colour, to my eyes at least, is yellow. Yet the highlight is green. I want to know, specifically, what the algorithm is.

  • problem transferring Win 7 operating system hard drive to be used as external hard drive

    - by itserich
Win 7 Asus MA479 8GB Ram hard drives are 500GB The operating system was a Caviar Green, and I tried to exchange it for a Caviar Blue. The Caviar Blue took the install correctly, but the Green, the prior operating system hard drive, will not allow itself to be used as an external hard drive. I use TrueCrypt and tried to format the Green and it freezes each time at the very end of the encyrption of the partition. I took the Blue out of the system and tried to encrypt it, and same problem. I think there must be something on the hard drive that shows it was a system drive and it causes a conflict. I have tried writing over the system hard drive to fully erase everything but that does not work, it still freezes. The drives will work in a different pc, i.e. other pc where it never was the system drive. The external hard drive is connected esata through Thermaltake. I have used TrueCrypt on various pc's for years including this Win7 with no problem. Thank you.

  • SQL SERVER – ?Finding Out What Changed in a Deleted Database – Notes from the Field #041

    - by Pinal Dave
[Note from Pinal]: This is a 41th episode of Notes from the Field series. The real world is full of challenges. When we are reading theory or book, we sometimes do not realize how real world reacts works and that is why we have the series notes from the field, which is extremely popular with developers and DBA. Let us talk about interesting problem of how to figure out what has changed in the DELETED database. Well, you think I am just throwing the words but in reality this kind of problems are making our DBA’s life interesting and in this blog post we have amazing story from Brian Kelley about the same subject. In this episode of the Notes from the Field series database expert Brian Kelley explains a how to find out what has changed in deleted database. Read the experience of Brian in his own words. Sometimes, one of the hardest questions to answer is, “What changed?” A similar question is, “Did anything change other than what we expected to change?” The First Place to Check – Schema Changes History Report: Pinal has recently written on the Schema Changes History report and its requirement for the Default Trace to be enabled. This is always the first place I look when I am trying to answer these questions. There are a couple of obvious limitations with the Schema Changes History report. First, while it reports what changed, when it changed, and who changed it, other than the base DDL operation (CREATE, ALTER, DELETE), it does not present what the changes actually were. This is not something covered by the default trace. Second, the default trace has a fixed size. When it hits that size, the changes begin to overwrite. As a result, if you wait too long, especially on a busy database server, you may find your changes rolled off. But the Database Has Been Deleted! Pinal cited another issue, and that’s the inability to run the Schema Changes History report if the database has been dropped. Thankfully, all is not lost. One thing to remember is that the Schema Changes History report is ultimately driven by the Default Trace. As you may have guess, it’s a trace, like any other database trace. And the Default Trace does write to disk. The trace files are written to the defined LOG directory for that SQL Server instance and have a prefix of log_: Therefore, you can read the trace files like any other. Tip: Copy the files to a working directory. Otherwise, you may occasionally receive a file in use error. With the Default Trace files, if you ask the question early enough, you can see the information for a deleted database just the same as any other database. Testing with a Deleted Database: Here’s a short script that will create a database, create a schema, create an object, and then drop the database. Without the database, you can’t do a standard Schema Changes History report. CREATE DATABASE DeleteMe; GO USE DeleteMe; GO CREATE SCHEMA Test AUTHORIZATION dbo; GO CREATE TABLE Test.Foo (FooID INT); GO USE MASTER; GO DROP DATABASE DeleteMe; GO This sets up the perfect situation where we can’t retrieve the information using the Schema Changes History report but where it’s still available. Finding the Information: I’ve sorted the columns so I can see the Event Subclass, the Start Time, the Database Name, the Object Name, and the Object Type at the front, but otherwise, I’m just looking at the trace files using SQL Profiler. As you can see, the information is definitely there: Therefore, even in the case of a dropped/deleted database, you can still determine who did what and when. You can even determine who dropped the database (loginame is captured). The key is to get the default trace files in a timely manner in order to extract the information. • Overlap problem with Android ListView selector

    - by virsir
I am trying to style my ListView with two 9-patch background images (16px * 9px), one dark image for default state and another green image for selected and pressed state. It works except for just one problem that when I select or press one list item, it seems that the selected item overlap the next one a little bit as I can see some pixels of the green background image is on the top of next item. How to fix that?

  • Winforms Checkbox : CheckState property Indeterminate renders differently

In C# environment, setting a checkbox's CheckState property to Indeterminate displays a "green square" inside the checkbox. In VB environment, this displays as a "grayed out check" (which is less intuitive, even for "dummy" users). How do i make Indeterminate state look like a "green square" in VB.NET ? Btw, i am using VS2008, Winforms 2.0. (Btw2: I tried to create two tags CheckState Indeterminate, which is more appropriate to my question, but disallowed by StackOverflow due to points!)

  • finding shortest valid path in a colored-edge graphs

    - by user1067083
Given a directed graph G, with edges colored either green or purple, and a vertex S in G, I must find an algorithm that finds the shortest path from s to each vertex in G so the path includes at most two purple edges (and green as much as needed). I thought of BFS on G after removing all the purple edges, and for every vertex that the shortest path is still infinity, do something to try to find it, but I'm kinda stuck, and it takes alot of the running time as well... Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance
