  • COM AddIn for Outlook Tries to Install Self on Startup

    Hi, I have an outlook addin that I have been developing for some time now, and am experiencing a problem. If I have a computer with two 'administrator' users (call them User A and User B), the addin installs and runs just fine as long as the same user tries to run it. In other words, if User A installs the addin, then User A has no problem using. The strange behavior comes in when we see the following scenario: User A installs the addin (for all users), User B launches outlook and observes that the addin is trying to install itself yet again. If User B cancels out of the 'install', he can then go and use the addin just fine. Right now, I use office's registry key propagation to do an 'all users' install, and I inspected the registry for any duplications and found none. I even used the officeins tool to try and detect if there was any duplication going on, and found none. I'm really bewildered as to why the addin would try to install itself over and over again. Does anyone know why this might be happening?

    I wrote the following code under the assumption that Excel will die with Monkey: class ExcelMonkey { private static Excel.Application xl = new Excel.Application(); public static bool parse(string filename) { if (filename.Contains("foo")) { var workbook = xl.Workbooks.Open(filename); var sheet = workbook.Worksheets.get_Item(1); // do stuff return true; } return false; } } How do I make sure it does? Do I need to release workbook and sheet separately? I want to have Excel around for the lifetime of the program, it's a huge performance improvement.

  • Windows Server 2008 and com objects

    Hi, im moving a Dll (built in c++) from windows 2000 server to a 2008 server but im have some trouble to register it. In 2000 all you normaly have to do is a "regsrv32 name.dll" but this will not work in 2008 because you get a pointer error, iv also tried to use "gacutil /i name.dll" because someone told me this might work, but it didnt. So, im kind of desperate, is there anyone that have some solution to how i can get this c++ dll to work in 2000 server so that i can access it from an old classic asp page. EDIT: This is the error when running regsrv: " The module "name.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found. Make sure that "name.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again. " Note that i cant edit the dll file in anyway =( Best Regards Marthin

  • 64 bit COM(ActiveX) server

    Hello, I have activex server exe that was building and registering fine on 32bit OS. I wanted to make 64 bit version of that exe by upgrading project to Visual Studio 2010 and changing platform to X64 which apparently doesn't work. Application itself works but I don't see it registered after running That.exe /RegServer I would appreciate any usable advice on migrating activex from 32 to x64. Code that is processing /RegServer param is below: if(lstrcmpi(lpszToken, _T("RegServer")) == 0) { _Module.UpdateRegistryFromResource(IDR_OUTDISKSARG, TRUE); nRet = _Module.RegisterServer(TRUE); bRun = false; break; } 32 bit activex is unuable for me since I have to load it in x64 .NET process.

  • gmail download by POP3 won't download all emails. How to reset all emails to not downloaded so that ALL will download?

    I want to download emails from gmail using POP3 with Outlook Express. It downloads about 350 or so emails but doesn't download the remainder - there are over 2000 emails. The emails downloaded are not recent. I've tried disabling and re-enabling POP options in the settings in gmail itself but this doesn't fix the issue. Any ideas? Failing that I would use IMAP. I would try to then copy it locally on my machine to the standard POP Inbox folder in Outlook Express so that Express Archiver (a separate program) can then archive each email as a file with meaningful file names (e.g. subject, sender). I want to download email because I archive back it up with project work material it relates to, so it is all in one place.

  • javax.ejb.NoSuchEJBException after redeploying EJBs

    Using Glassfish 3.0.1 ... If I have a web application accessing EJBs in another application remotely, and the remote application containing the EJBs is redeployed, I get a javax.ejb.NoSuchEJBException (see stacktrace below). Shouldn't this work? I can see that the EJB in question was successfully deployed, using the exact same JNDI name. Is there any other way to fix this than to restart the web application?     What is the reason for declaring noncreatable coclasses like the following in IDL? [ uuid(uuidhere), noncreatable ] coclass CoClass { [default] interface ICoClass; }; I mean such class will not be registered to COM anyway. What's the reason to mention it in the IDL file and in the type library produced by compiling that IDL file?

My symbol path is pointing to msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols. Is there way to know what arguments were passed to this method? In general, how does one use Windbg to find the input argument value to the method call? thanks in advance

    I'd like to use the chat section in GMail to make phone calls. I've downloaded and installed the Google Talk plugin, and it acts like it knows what it's doing. But when I try to make calls, the internal laptop mic doesn't work at all (i.e., no one on the other end can hear me). In the GMail chat settings, I've tried selecting "Default Device" for the microphone, as well as "Internal Audio Analog Stereo." No matter which setting I try, none seem to work. As I said at the top, this is only a problem in Ubuntu; it works just fine in OSX and Windows (which means that yes, my Google Voice account is properly configured). Here are my tech specs: Ubuntu 10.10 Kernel Linux 2.6.35-24-generic Gnome 2.32.0 Google Chrome 8.0.552.237 Google Talk Plugin (google-talkplugin) 1.8.0.0-1 MacBook (2,1) w/ internal microphone Any help will be greatly appreciated!   • Switch Hosts With Gmail Account Attached

    Hi, I am transferring a client from their old host to my new one. Their domain-based gmail/apps account was connected to their old host, so when I changed the domain's name servers to the new host, naturally the gmail account stopped working. So I added the 7 MX records tho the new host's DNS and verified I own the domain on the new host's FTP but the email still isn't working. Is there something I'm missing? I added the MX records to the new host about two hours ago, is it possible it just takes longer than that? Also, outgoing mail seems to work. Members of the domain can't receive email though, just sends back an error. Thanks, Wade

  • Are these settings correct for sending mail through Rails/Gmail?

    Hi there, I spend a good deal of time building an email system for my Rails app that uses Gmail to send bulk mail to a list of opt-in users. I realize a shortcomming of using Google Apps for my mail, namely a rate limit on the number of emails it will send out (i believe 500). Anyway, I have reached out to my users to see how many have received the email, and a lot of them have not, though some have. The list I tried sending to was about 540 users, so I would have expected more "yes, got it," then "nope, still waiting" responses. I have two questions: Do these settings look correct for outgoing bulk mailing through Gmail? Again, using google apps to manage my domain and i know some people (including myself) have received the mailer. This is in a mail.rb initializer in my app. ActionMailer::Base.delivery_method = :sendmail ActionMailer::Base.smtp_settings = { :address => "smtp.gmail.com", :port => 25, :domain => "mydomain.com", :authentication => :login, :user_name => "no-reply@mydomain.com", :password => "mypass" } Is there any way I can test if the mail was delivered, or at least attempted to be delivered? I can't tell where in the list the mailer stops mailing! The way I generate the list is through a query which then passes the user info to a mailer worker which sends the emails out via Starling/Workling. Any advice here would be useful. Happy to post code, but want to make sure the method I'm using is sound. Thanks for the help!

As part of writing custom command (dll with class that implements Interwoven command interface) for one of Interwoven Worksite dialog boxes,I need to extract information from RichEdit textbox. The only connection to the existing dialog box is its HWND handle; Seemingly trivial task , but I got stuck : Using standard win32 api functions (like GetDlgItemText) returns empty string. After using Spy++ I noticed that the dialog box gets IRichEditOle interface and seems to encapsulate the string into OLE object. Here is what I tried to do: IRichEditOle richEditOleObj = null; IntPtr ppv = IntPtr.Zero; Guid guid = new Guid("00020D00-0000-0000-c000-000000000046"); Marshal.QueryInterface(pRichEdit, ref guid, out ppv); richEditOleObj = (IRichEditOle)Marshal.GetTypedObjectForIUnknown(ppv,typeof(IRichEditOle)); judging by GetObjectCount() method of the interface there is exactly one object in the textbox - most likely the string I need to extract. Now since I know only basic stuff about COM and OLE , I guess I am missing something important here. I would appreciate any thoughts suggestions or remarks.

    I'm on the iPhone OS3, I want to get my contacts on my phone in sync with my Google contacts, but I don't want to lose what is currently in my phone. So far I have been under the impression that by just turning the Google Sync on that it will overwrite the info on my phone. I don't currently have all the info on my phone in Google contacts so this would not be desired. Other than manually inputting all the info from my phone into my Google Contacts, what approach could I take to get that info on the Google cloud so that I can turn on sync without fear of losing any information?

  • What ports do I need open for IMAP connections

    I'm developing a web application that connects to an IMAP mailbox and fetches emails as part of it's functionality. The application is PHP and I'm connecting like this: public function connect() { /* connect to gmail */ $hostname = '{imap.gmail.com:993/imap/ssl}INBOX'; $username = $this->username; $password = $this->password; /* try to connect */ $this->inbox = imap_open($hostname,$username,$password) or die('Cannot connect to Gmail: ' . imap_last_error()); } Developing locally on my mac this was fine, I was able to connect and get emails. However now that I've put the app on my web hosts server I'm getting the following error: Cannot connect to Gmail: Can't connect to gmail-imap.l.google.com,993: Connection timed out After checking with my hosting provider they told me outgoing connections on port 993 are blocked. Is there anyway around this? Otherwise I need to upgrade to a dedicated server :S
