  • Is there a Chrome extension to swap out CSS?

    - by fredley
I'm trying to completely replace the CSS for a domain with different CSS (i.e. swap out the CSS at gaming.SE for that of Stack Overflow). I'd ideally like an extension that lets me do this. I've used Personalized Web, which allows loading in CSS for a given domain, but it still loads the original CSS (you can specify CSS to ignore, but you have to do this rule by rule! Does anyone know of a way of doing this?

  • Anyone tried boosting Windows performance by putting Swap File on a Flash drive?

    - by Clay Nichols
Windows Vista introduced ReadyBoost which lets you use a Flash drive as a third (after RAM and HD) type of memory. It occurred to me that I could boost peformance on an old PC here w/ Win XP (32 bit, max'd at 4GB RAM) by putting it's swap file (page file) on a flash drive. (Now, before anyone comments: apparently Flash drives (10-30MB/s transfer rates) are slower than HDD (100+ MB/s) (I'm asking that as a separate question on this forum).

  • How to configure Beyond Compare 3 for Eclipse conflict resolution?

    - by Peter Boughton
What is the correct parameters to get Beyond Compare 3 working with Eclipse/Subclipse conflict resolution? In Preferences > Team > SVN > Diff/Merge there's the option to specify an external program to resolve conflicts. The default parameters are: "${yours}" "${theirs}" "${base}" "${merged}" And it suggests TortoiseMerge settings of this: /theirs:"${theirs}" /base:"${base}" /mine:"${yours}" /merged:"${merged}" But what is the appropriate config for Beyond Compare?

  • How to compare DateTime Objects while looping through a list?

    - by Taniq
I'm trying to loop through a list (csv) containing two fields; a name and a date. There are various duplicated names and various dates in the list. I'm trying to deduce for each name in the list, where there are multiple instances of the same name, which corresponding date is the latest. I realise, from looking at another answer, that I need to use the DateTime.Compare method which is fine, but my problem is working out which date is later. Once I know this I need to produce a file with unique names and the latest date relating to it. This is my first question which makes me a newbie. EDIT: Initially I thought it would be 'ok' to set the LatestDate object to a date that wouldn't show up in my file, therefore making any later dates in the file the LatestDate. Here's my coding so far: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.IO; namespace flybe_overwriter { class Program { static DateTime currentDate; static DateTime latestDate = new DateTime(1000,1,1); static HashSet<string> uniqueNames = new HashSet<string>(); static string indexpath = @"e:\flybe test\indexing.csv"; static string[] indexlist = File.ReadAllLines(indexpath); static StreamWriter outputfile = new StreamWriter(@"e:\flybe test\match.csv"); static void Main(string[] args) { foreach (string entry in indexlist) { uniqueNames.Add(entry.Split(',')[0]); } HashSet<string>.Enumerator fenum = new HashSet<string>.Enumerator(); fenum = uniqueNames.GetEnumerator(); while (fenum.MoveNext()) { string currentName = fenum.Current; foreach (string line in indexlist) { currentDate = new DateTime(Convert.ToInt32(line.Split(',')[1].Substring(4, 4)), Convert.ToInt32(line.Split(',')[1].Substring(2, 2)), Convert.ToInt32(line.Split(',')[1].Substring(0, 2))); if (currentName == line.Split(',')[0]) { if(DateTime.Compare(latestDate.Date, currentDate.Date) < 1) { // Console.WriteLine(currentName + " " + latestDate.ToShortDateString() + " is earlier than " + currentDate.ToShortDateString()); } else if (DateTime.Compare(latestDate.Date, currentDate.Date) > 1) { // Console.WriteLine(currentName + " " + latestDate.ToShortDateString() + " is later than " + currentDate.ToShortDateString()); } else if (DateTime.Compare(latestDate.Date, currentDate.Date) == 0) { // Console.WriteLine(currentName + " " + latestDate.ToShortDateString() + " is the same as " + currentDate.ToShortDateString()); } } } } } } } Any help appreciated. Thanks.

  • MSSQL. Compare columns in two tables.

    - by maxt3r
Hi, i've recently done a migration from a really old version of some application to the current version and i faced some problems while migrating databases. I need a query that could help me to compare columns in two tables. I mean not the data in rows, i need to compare the columns itself to figure out, what changes in table structure i've missed.

  • Can you swap dpi buttons on the Astra Dragon War mouse with 4th and 5th buttons?

    - by Denny Nuyts
I'm left-handed and I'm in need of a good computer mouse with at least five buttons. However, most computer mice on the market are sadly right-handed and very impracticable to use with the extra buttons on my pinkie side instead of on my thumb side. The Dragon War Astra has two buttons on both sides. Buttons 4 and 5 on the left side and the dpi-buttons on the right side. If I were just able to re-assign them so they swap positions I'd have a great left-handed mouse. Sadly, the program X-Mouse Button Control doesn't allow the user to re-assign dpi buttons. My question is whether there exist other methods to still get it to work for me (third party programs, perhaps?). Or should I get another gaming mouse?

  • How to swap ctrl and fn key on a MacBook Pro running Windows 7 via Boot Camp?

    - by hobbes3
There are sooooo many discussion on the internet about swapping the fn and ctrl key on a MacBook Pro. On the Mac side, a new software called ReMap4MacBook does a perfect job swapping the two key. But on the PC side (specifically Windows 7), I can't really find a definitive answer. Most post refer to this article but I read the loooong article and followed the instructions to no avail. I remember there used to be a program (maybe it was on XP) that not only swapped the two keys but it also controlled the fans on the MacBook Pro. But I can't remember the name and I also recall that that program stopped being updated like years ago. EDIT: It's called Input Remapper. So I am hoping there exist a simple program that I can simply run to swap those two keys.

  • How do I swap audio output of the left and right speakers?

    - by Manga Lee
I have two speakers stereo speakers but when I use the sound control panel applet to test my audio configuration I get sound in the right speaker when the user interface indicates the right speaker and vice versa. Is there a way to swap the audio output from left to right and right to left? UPDATE: The reason for this question is that I've recently rearranged my workspace and because of physical constraints the left speaker has to go on the right side and vice versa. I could of course solve this problem with a hardware solution but I'd rather use a software solution if one is available.

  • How get OSX Lion to save Modifier Key Settings (i.e. swap Ctrl and Cmd)

    - by Huliax
I use Lion at work with an MS Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000. Every single time I log in I have to go into settings and swap the command and control keys. This is really annoying. Is there a way to get these settings to stick? Beyond that, I'd also like to remap a few other keys and I'm interested in tools for doing that. I think I need to work out the first issue first though. Thanks for any help.

  • What parameters to use to compare GUI frameworks / toolkits?

    - by gooli
I'm doing some research on the best GUI toolkit to use for future products at the company. We're talking about a fairly large organizations with quite a bit of code and a complete rewrite project in planning. Don't ask. Anyway, I'm trying to create a list relevant parameters to judge the toolkits. What would you use to drive the comparison? Here's what I've got so far: Maturity Ease of development Ease of prototyping Ease of maintenance Size of hiring pool Available knowledge at the company Training costs Community size Community level of expertise (how hard to find good answers to complex problems) Amount of expert-level books available Ability to interface to other technologies Deployment considerations Visual aesthetics Ability to access OS resources Multiple monitor support (something that might come in handy in our particular application)

  • What's the best way to compare blocks in a matching game that can be multiple colors?

    - by Ryan Detzel
I have a match 3-4 game and the blocks can be one of 7 colors. There are an addition 7 blocks that are a mix of the original 7 colors so for example there is a red and blue block and there is also a red/blue block which can be matched with either the red or the blue. My original thought is just to use binary operations so. int red = 0x000000001; int blue = 0x000000010; int redblue = 0x000000011; Then just do an & operation so see if they match. Does this sound like a decent plan or am I over complicating it? edit: Better yet so it's more readable. int red = 1; int blue = 2; int red_blue = 3; int yellow = 4; int red_yellow = 5; maybe as defines or static vars?

  • How well do graduates from top universities perform and how does it feel compare to the rest of the world?

    - by Amumu
I always have impressions to those who got admitted into top Universities like MIT, Standford... for studying Engineering. I don't actually know what they are doing in the University or what they will do, but I always feel they can perform higher level tasks with more complexities. I always think that they are good at create and applying mathematical model in real life and I tend to agree: If you can't apply math, it's your problems, not math. I am a junior software engineer on embedded devices. I am learning more on Linux kernel and low level stuffs. Even so, my will is not strong enough to pursue technical path forever, with a final purpose is to create something significant on my own. May I have a chance to get on their level if I keep learning through experience and self-study? In my opinion, Math is the must have requirement, since it seems that programs on those Universities are very Math oriented. Without very strong math skill, how can one perform good in science and researching beyond making regular business products?

  • How does Game Salad compare with Cocos2D in terms of 2D game development?

    - by jih
I want to make some 2d games for iOS. I first come across cocos2d and kobold but then wanted something more graphical for rapid prototyping. I then found Game Maker which doesn't support iOS but is fairly easy to learn and then found Game Salad which supports iOS as well as other platforms. I know this question has been ask before but I want to know in terms of the types of games I want to develop what an learning investment path would be best. The types of games genre I am interest are: Side scrollers Simple games like diamond dash or ninja fruits, shanghai, etc Old fashioned zelda or dragonquest type (nintendo fan here:-) 2d adventure RPG games (real time or turn based) Mystery turn based games like carmen sandiego, wizardry, myst etc. So now the question becomes for me becomes which game development environment should I invest my time in learning. Game Salad or cocos2d? To make that decision I was wondering if experienced game programmers and help with some pointers: It would seem game salad would be great for quickies being graphical but in terms of 2d platform games etc would there be speed/performance/feature penalties? Are there certain 2d games genre of the 4 above that Game salad is better at while certain type cocos2d would be better at?

  • What would you take into account when you were asked to compare software? [closed]

    - by mstaessen
For my master's thesis, I am asked to make a comparative study of frameworks for cross-platform mobile development. I want to eliminate the chances of having missed something in my comparison. This is why I want to ask what YOU would value (most) when comparing such frameworks (Like for instance PhoneGap and Appcelerator Titanium). Performance, capabilities and licensing are kind of obvious, but can you think of others?

  • What could be some objective criteria to compare languages? [closed]

    - by rvcoutinho
I am performing a study on different programming languages (and its related technologies) for a mature corporate architecture. In order to conduct these studies, I need formulate some criteria prior to this evaluation. Some general (and well known) criteria are: readability, writability, reliability, cost and others (such as well-definedness, generality and portability). That said, I present the following questions: What criteria should I not forget? How to make these criteria objective?

  • How to compare page views/visitors to site totals in Google Analytics?

    - by frntk
I want to measure the effects in total traffic (views or visitors) of a single URL across a time frame. For example, let's say I published a blog post on July 2012. I want to measure what chunk of the site's total traffic is coming to this particular post on a month-by-month graph from July 2012 to date. Is there a way to do this? Edit: I should clarify that what I'd like to do is to generate a month-to-month graph, similar to the one you can see comparing a metric on a period of time against the previous equivalent period (year vs last year, for example) but comparing a particular URL traffic to the site's total traffic. In other words, I can get to the part where I can see the URL's traffic for the timeframe I selected and it shows how much of the total traffic corresponds to the current URL: But I'd like to add a second line to the graph, representing the site's total pageviews, similiar to this (but this one is showing just a different metric for the same URL): Thanks!
