  • Tapestry 5, loading css from filesystem

    - by emptyhead
    We are creating a Tapestry 5 webapp with an external designer creating and maintaining the css-files of the application. We would like him to be able to make changes to the css-files without the need to change the webapp, prefarably in the configurable path in the filesystem. So what would the best way to do this with Tapestry 5?

  • Making a row of divs all be the same height using CSS

    - by pavel
    I have a row of divs that must all be the same height, but I have no way of knowing what that height might be ahead of time (the content comes from an external source). I initially tried placing the divs in an enclosing div and floated them left. I then set their height to be "100%", but this had no perceptible effect. By setting the height on the enclosing div to a fixed-height I could then get the floated divs to expand, but only up to the fixed height of the container. When the content in one of the divs exceeded the fixed height, it spilled over; the floated divs refused to expand. I Googled this floated-divs-of-the-same-height problem and apparently there's no way to do it using CSS. So now I am trying to use a combination of relative and absolute positioning instead of floats. This is the CSS: <style type="text/css"> div.container { background: #ccc; position: relative; min-height: 10em; } div.a { background-color: #aaa; position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; bottom: 0px; width: 40%; } div.b { background-color: #bbb; position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 41%; bottom: 0px; width: 40%; } </style> This is a simplified version of the HTML: <div class="container"> <div class="a">Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Integer pretium dui sit amet felis. Integer sit amet diam. Phasellus ultrices viverra velit.</div> <div class="b">Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Integer pretium dui sit amet felis. Integer sit amet diam. Phasellus ultrices viverra velit. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Integer pretium dui sit amet felis. Integer sit amet diam. Phasellus ultrices viverra velit.</div> </div> This works, unless you change the min-height to something like 5em (demonstranting what happens when the content exceeds the minimum height), and you can see that while the text doesn't get cutoff, the divs still refuse to expand. Now I am at a lose. Is there any way to do this using CSS?

  • How to modify Chrome newtab.css from within a Chrome theme?

    - by user143423
    I want to modify the CSS for new tab page. NOT make new tab page. I already made a new tab page, but many users installing my themes won't also install the new tab page extension. So I want to modify the CSS on the new tab page for those who ONLY want my theme. It is my understanding that chrome://theme/css/newtab.css is the stylesheet I need to change. Feel free to tell other ways to add CSS to the ORIGINAL new tab page in Chrome.

  • Select tool to minimize JavaScript and CSS size

    - by Michael Freidgeim
    There are multiple ways and techniques how to combine and minify JS and CSS files.The good number of links can be found in http://stackoverflow.com/questions/882937/asp-net-script-and-css-compression and in http://www.hanselman.com/blog/TheImportanceAndEaseOfMinifyingYourCSSAndJavaScriptAndOptimizingPNGsForYourBlogOrWebsite.aspx There are 2 major approaches- do it during build or at run-time.In our application there are multiple user-controls, each of them required different JS or CSS files, and they loaded dynamically in the different combinations. We decided that loading all JS or CSS files for each page is not a good idea, but for each page we need to load different set of files.Based on this combining files on the build stage does not looks feasible.After Reviewing  different links I’ve decided that squishit should fit to our needs. http://www.codethinked.com/squishit-the-friendly-aspnet-javascript-and-css-squisherDifferent limitations of using SquishIt.We had some browser specific CSS files, that loaded conditionally depending of browser type(i.e IE and all other browsers). • Margically appearing margin in footer. Could use some fresh eye's on this.

    - by Banderdash
    Hi chaps! Got a nearly finished coded comp here: http://clients.pixelbleed.net/biodesign/ I realize it's not completely valid, what with my nesting of li's and ul's within A tags. Unfortunately that's the way it has to be. My issue is with the very bottom of the footer. It has a space showing the body's background color beneath it. Tried a number of things and this space after the black link bar on the very bottom is a resistant little bugger. Ideally the black box on the bottom should rest against the very base of the view-port, at least when the content is sufficiently long--which it is in this case. If someone would like to take a quick peak at my source and give me some ideas I'd be very grateful. The CSS can be found here: http://clients.pixelbleed.net/biodesign/css/core.css And, yes, I've tried removing the height:100%. Makes no difference it seems. I do believe the issue to be with the footer, as when I remove these Div's the content rests as it should. Just don't see anything in my CSS to cause the margin/spacing issue though. Thanks so much.

  • CSS issue with margin: auto

    - by user1702273
    Hi am having an issue with the margin auto of my website where i have a wrapper div with the width set to 1000px and the margins top and bottom to 0 and left and right to auto. I have a navigation menu in the side bar, where i used java script to replace the same div with different tables. when i click a link in the menu the wrapper shifts right some px and the comes to original, I don't want that action i want the wrapper to be static and not to vary at any time. how can i achieve that. when i set the margin to just 0, so problem with positioning. But i want the wrapper to be centered. Here is my css code: body { background-color:#E2E3E4; color:#333; margin:0; padding:0; font-size: 12px; } #wrapper { width:1000px; margin:0 auto; margin-bottom:10px; } #header1 { width:1000px; height:44px; margin:0 auto; background-color:#ED6B06; } #header2 { width:1000px; height:40px; margin:0 auto; border-bottom:1px solid #EDE9DE; } #header3 { width:1000px; height:40px; margin:0 auto; border-bottom:1px solid #EDE9DE; } #header2 p { margin:0 auto; font-size:20pt; color: #364395; font-smooth: auto; margin-left:15px; margin-top:5px; } #welcome { width:600px; float:left; padding:10px; margin:0 auto; } #status{ margin:0 auto; width:50px; float:right; padding:10px; margin-top:3px; margin-right:15px; } #content { width:780px; float:right; } #sidebar { width:150px; margin-top:15px; margin-left:10px; float:left; border-right:1px solid #EDE9DE; margin-bottom:25px; } #footer { clear:both; margin:0 auto; width:1000px; height:44px; border-top:1px solid #EDE9DE; } HTML: <html> <head> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style/style.css" media="screen" /> <title>Pearson Schools Management Portal</title> </head> <body id="home"> <div id="wrapper"> <?php include('includes/header1.php'); ?> <?php include('includes/header2.php'); ?> <?php include('includes/header3.php'); ?> <div id="content"> <h2>Welcome to Portal!</h2> </div> <!-- end #content --> <?php include('includes/sidebar.php'); ?> <?php include('includes/footer.php'); ?> </div> <!-- End #wrapper --> <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" href="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.7.2/themes/base/jquery-ui.css"> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://jzaefferer.github.com/jquery-validation/jquery.validate.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.8.16/jquery-ui.min.js"></script> <?php include('scripts/index_data.js'); ?> </body>

  • Expand <div> tag to bottom of page with CSS

    - by typoknig
    Hi all, I know this question gets asked a lot because I have looked at many "solutions" trying to get this to work for me. I can get it to work if I hack up the html but I want to use all CSS. All I want is a header with two columns below it, and I want these three items to fill the entire page/screen, and I want to do it with CSS and without frames or tables. The XAMPP user interface looks exactly how I want my page to look, but again, I do not want to use frames. I cannot get the two orangeish colored columns to extend to the bottom of the screen. I do have it so it looks like the right column extends to the bottom of the screen just by changing the body background color to the same color as the background color of the right column, but I would like both columns to extend to the bottom so I didn't have to do that. Here is what I have so far: HTML <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html dir="ltr" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>MY SITE</title> <meta content="text/html; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="Content-Type" /> <link href="stylesheet.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> </head> <body> <div id="container"> <div id="masthead"> MY SITE</div> <div id="left_col"> Employee Management<br /> <a href="Employee%20Management.php">Add New Employee</a><br /> <a href="Employee%20Management.php">Edit Existing Employee</a><br /> <br/> Load Management<br /> <a href="Load%20Management.php">Log New Load</a><br /> <a href="Load%20Management.php">Edit Existing Load</a><br /> <br/> Report Management<br /> <a href="Report%20Management.php">Employee Report</a><br /> <a href="Report%20Management.php">Load Report</a></div> <div id="page_content"> <div id="page_content_heading">Welcome!</div> Lots of words</div> </div> </body> </html> CSS #masthead { background-color:#FFFFFF; font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size:xx-large; font-weight:bold; padding:30px; text-align:center; } #container { min-width: 600px; min-height: 100%; } #left_col { padding: 10px; background-color: #339933; float: left; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: large; font-weight: bold; width: 210px; } #page_content { background-color: #CCCCCC; margin-left: 230px; padding: 20px; } #page_content_heading { font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size:large; font-weight:bold; padding-bottom:10px; padding-top:10px; } a { color:#0000FF; font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size:medium; font-weight:normal; } a:hover { color:#FF0000; } html, body { height: 100%; padding: 0; margin: 0; background-color: #CCCCCC; }

  • Indentation annoyance with CSS in Vim

    - by Johan Sahlén
    I've moved from TextMate to Vim lately, and am really liking the switch. However, I have an itch regarding the way Vim handles indentation within curly braces using the CSS syntax. I use simple_pairs.vim, which may or may not have something to do with my problem, but I don't think so, as things work fine in PHP, JavaScript, etc. Let me explain… I generally group my CSS rules by context using indentation, like so: ul#nav { margin: 10px; } ul#nav li { float: left; margin-right: 4px; } That means when I type my ul#nav li rule, followed by { (which inserts a corresponding } automatically) and hit enter, I want the closing brace to be at the same indentation level as the ul#…, but instead I get something like this: ul#nav { margin: 10px; } ul#nav li { } So I have to indent the extra step(s) manually. Like I said, doing the same thing in PHP, JavaScript, etc, works fine. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I don't understand enough of Vim's syntax definition files for me to be able to figure out what in the PHP syntax file makes it work, and port it over to the CSS one… Thanks.

  • CSS fluid layout with 2 columms

    - by Sune
    Ive building a website with a fluid layout. The structure is: <div id="maincontainer"> <div id="topsection"> <div class="innertube"><h1>CSS Liquid Layout #2.2- (Fluid-Fixed)</h1></div> </div> <div id="contentwrapper"> <div id="contentcolumn"> <div class="innertube"><b>Content Column:</b></div> </div> </div> <div id="rightcolumn"> <div class="innertube"><b>Right Column: <em>200px</em></b> <script type="text/javascript">filltext(14);</script></div> </div> <div id="footer"><a href="#">Some footer</a></div> </div> My problem is when my contentcolumm grows(height) I cant get my right columm too grow with. I can fix the problem with javascript where I measure out the contentcolumn height and set the same height on my rightcolumm. But Im wondering if there are any better css solution. here is clip from my css: #contentwrapper{ float: left; width: 100%; background:#FF7000; } #contentcolumn{ margin-right: 200px; } #rightcolumn{ float: left; width: 200px; margin-left: -200px; background: #BBBBBB; }

  • Using jQuery.UI CSS Framework for DIV Styling

    - by Gordon
    Hi folks, a Project I am currently working on uses the jQuery UI framework for some of its widgets. To provide the user with a global look and feel I would like to use the framework also for its css stuff. I am implementing at the moment a dashboard like homepage, where the user can see an overall status of its data. This dashboard is build of some divs that should be aligned into a grid layout. I try to style the divs like follows <div class="ui-widget"> <div class="ui-widget-header">Box Header</div> <div class="ui-widget-content"> Content of the Box </div> </div> Later I would like to implement some draggable-and-sortable functionality. The Problem I am facing right now is that the boxes aren't properly aligned. Does anyone has a hint on using jQuery.UI for that kind of css work? I was studing the CSS framework documentation on jqueryui.com but there aren't that much information. best regards, Gordon

  • Use any CSS compiler (Sass, Less) to generate the selector

    - by xckpd7
    So I've recently been playing around with CSS compilers, but I have no idea how (or if it's possible) to dynamically generate pieces of a selector. For instance, let's say I wanted to make mixins to get display: inline-block; to work cross browser. I would have to do the styles, yeah, but I would have to do the IE6/7 selector hacks to get them to work in those browsers too. Ideally I'm looking for a one off thing to add to an element and have the ability for that to work. Some kind person recently gave me this solution: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2746754/css-compilers-and-converting-ie-hacks-to-conditional-css/2747036#2747036 and it would be nice to implement that in a minimal way that would allow me to specify it for a given element and be on my way (for instance in Less, you can create a class with styles, pass that class to another element, and that element will inherit all of those styles. It would be nice to pass an element .inline-block; and it create the styles needed to support IE6/7 without having to resort to stuff like _color: pink; Any ideas? EDIT: for instance as well, how could I do something like clearfix for LESS? (lesscss.org)? If Sass can only do it then that will work too.
