• Building a website, wondering how to add news to it? Details inside. [closed]

  On the home page of my website, I'd like to add a "news" kind section, where I can add blogs and such. Now from my understanding if this was all done in hard coding I'd have to go into the code just to add stuff to it. I've looked at things like drupal and I get how those work, but I how would I be able to add this to my site? The same kind of concept? Also, one more thing, what does inc operating php into a website offer? like better looks or general preformence? I don't understand this. Excuse my grammar/spelling.   I have install Ubuntu 11.10 64bit on my Hp Dv6-3150el. My Notebook has two graphics cards: lspci | grep VGA 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Madison [AMD Radeon HD 5000M Series] I tried to install the proprietary graphics drivers ''fglrx'' available in "Additional Drivers", which does not give me 3D graphics acceleration (and I can't install those post-release). Then I can try to download and install from the website (I tried the version that Catalyst 11.8 11.12). The installation goes perfectly (I followed this guide and others), except that when I configure Xorg.conf file: sudo aticonfig --initial PowerXpress error: Cannot stat '/usr/lib64/fglrx': No such file or directory Failed to initialize libglx for discrete GPU

• Can't control connection bit rate using iwconfig with Atheros TL-WN821N (AR7010)

  I'm trying to reduce the connection bit rate on my Atheros TP-Link TL-WN821N v3 usb wifi adapter due to frequent instability issues (reported connection speed goes down to 1Mb/s and I have to physically reconnect the adapter to regain a connection). I know this is a common problem with this device, and I have tried everything I can think of to fix it, including using drivers from linux-backports; compiling and installing a custom firmware (following instructions on https://wiki.debian.org/ath9k_htc#fw-free) and (as a last resort) using ndiswrapper. When using ndiswrapper, the wifi adapter is stable and operates in g mode at 54Mb/s (whilst when using the default ath9k_htc module, the adapter connects in n mode and the bit rate fluctuates constantly). Unfortunately, with this setup I have to run my processor using only one core, since using SMP with ndiswrapper causes a kernel oops on my system. So I want to lock my bit rate to 54Mb/s (or less, if need be) for connection stability, using the ath9k_htc module. I've tried 'sudo iwconfig wlan0 rate 54M'; the command runs with no error but when I check the bit rate with 'sudo iwlist wlan0 bitrate' the command returns: wlan0 unknown bit-rate information. Current Bit Rate:78 Mb/s Any ideas? Here's some info (hopefully relevant) on my setup: Xubuntu (12.04.3) 64bit (kernel 3.2.0-55.85-generic) using Network Manager. • How should I license code written for a startup without a contract?

  I wrote a fair amount of code for a startup, but I haven't signed a contract before doing so. The only document that I signed with them does not mention the fact that I have to pass the rights on the code to them, and after a consulting with a lawyer it seems that I own the full rights. Now I want to preemptively correct this situation by giving them some sort of exclusive license. Is there an existing license for closed-source, exclusive use that is used in these cases or I simply write somewhere "I grant exclusive license to use and modify this piece of code to FooBar-inc at the followings conditions: bla bla bla signed me, them"?

  i have a hp dv6 6154tx with an integrated Intel GPU and a discrete ATI GPU (Radeon Mobility HD 6490M (1 GB DDR5)). -Problems: when i install ubuntu 12.10 using wubi, my laptop starts heating, fans start to run fast (to much of noise), and battery goes really low Any attempt to install catalyst drivers (from ati official site and also proprietary drivers) fails , as after reboot when i login everything is gone like no unity no desktop and sometimes black screen appears. even bumblebee and jupiter didnt help.... :( So PLEASE, PLEASE can somebody post the real solution to my problems i.e.(inc battery life and stop fan noise and heating). (i want to install ubuntu only using wubi)

• No wireless after resuming from suspend?

  When I resume my computer from suspend it doesn't want to connect to any wireless connection. It looks like it is connecting, but after a while it asks me to retype a password for wireless connection. It connect after I restart it.   I am completely new to Ubuntu and now running into so many problems regarding my display. I will be so grateful to the community to help me out and keep me loving Ubuntu. When I run lspci | grep VGA I get the following output 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV380 [Radeon X600 (PCIE)] I am not sure if it means the driver is installed. Now the problem is I can not change the resolution like I can do in windows. I wanted to use dual monitor but it can not detect dual monitor. The monitor option in the preference shows 'Unknown' I tried to use a VGA switch for my ps3 and computer, but the computer is stuck with 1024x768 resolution.   If i run lspci | grep VGA I get below output which tells me below VGA cards are present on my computer. 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GT216 [GeForce GT 220] (rev a2) 08:02.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc ES1000 (rev 02) The ES1000 is an onboard card which came with my machine. Do anyone know how to disable this VGA on my machine. • DRIconf in Ubuntu 64x plus ATI GPU or something more?

  I've been trying to get Call of Duty 2 to work in Wine in Ubuntu. It gives me a black screen. So I tried the fix suggested by the wine apphq and downloaded DRIconf. Funny thing is that it can't find my direct rendering device. "Could not detect any configurable direct-rendering capable devices. DRIconf will be started in expert mode" When I enter into it in Expert Mode is just errors out anyway. fglrxinfo gives me: display: :0 screen: 0 OpenGL vendor string: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. OpenGL renderer string: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series OpenGL version string: 3.3.11627 Compatibility Profile Context That shows me my driver is installed correctl,y right? World of Goo which is Linux native and requires direct rendering works like a charm. So I'm wondering, is there some other workaround? Is there a bigger issue? Does me running 64-bit affect it at all?

• Screen gets garbled on some web sites

  I have a Gateway notebook with graphics card 01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RS690M [Radeon X1200 Series] with open source driver Linux version 2.6.32 -28 - generic. No other operating system on the computer. When I am using firefox to browse the web, everything normally works just fine except that when I attempt to access some particular web pages the screen completely messes up going mostly white with various streaks, etc., although I can access other pages of the same site without problems. When I run the cursor over the garbled screen, bits of the image recompose themselves, at least partially, and I can continue to open the applications window, or turn the computer off, or open the terminal, or take screen shots, etc., although all menus are unreadable. Also, when I zoom in on Google Earth the screen completely messes up. At all other times, there are no apparent problems. Any ideas?

• ffmpeg - How to determine if -movflags faststart is enabled? PHP

  While I am able to encode an mp4 file which I can plan on my local windows machine, I am having trouble encoding files to mp4 which are readable when streaming by safari, etc. After a bit of reading, I believe my issue is that I must move the metadata from the end of the file to the beginning in order for the converted mp4 files to be streamable. To that end, I am trying to find out if the build of ffmpeg that I am currently using is able to use the -movflags faststart option through php - as my current outputted mp4 files are not working when streamed online. This is the way I am now echoing the -help, -formats, -codecs, but I am not seeing anything about -movflags faststart in any of the lists: exec($ffmpegPath." -help", $codecArr); for($ii=0;$ii<count($codecArr);$ii++){ echo $codecArr[$ii].'</br>'; } Is there a similar method of determining if -movflags fastart is available to my ffmpeg build? Intent is to be able to use Pattern for type checking via MooseX::Params::Validate to verify the argument is a 'Program::Plist::Pl::Program' object. I've found that removing the intervening class Program::Plist::Pl from the equation by directly calling Pattern-new from the tmp18.pl wrapper results in no error, even when the Program::Types Pattern type is imported.

• makefile pathing issues on OSX

  OK, I thought I would try one last update and see if it gets me anywhere. I've created a very small test case. This should not build anything, it just tests the path settings. Also I've setup the path so there are no spaces. The is the smallest, simplest test case I could come up with. This makefile will set the path, echo the path, run avr-gcc -v with the full path specified and then try to run it without the full path specified.
