  • Rails 2.3.11 Server Crashing After 4 Requests

    I have a Rails 2.3.11 application running on my local Windows machine using InstantRails. I cd to my application directory, run ruby script/server to start the server running, and point my browser to localhost:3000. I get the page I expect, and am able to click a few links to other pages (all of them are static). The problem starts when I load the 4th page or so. My server crashes, with this message: Processing HomeController#index (for 127.0.0.1 at 2012-06-23 15:48:40) [GET] Rendering template within layouts/application Rendering home/index Completed in 11ms (View: 9, DB: 1) | 200 OK [http://localhost/index] C:/rails/ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activesupport-2.3.11/lib/active_support/memoizable.rb:46: [BUG] Segmentation fault ruby 1.8.7 (2012-02-08 patchlevel 358) [i386-mingw32] This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. I've uninstalled this gem and reinstalled it, which didn't help. It doesn't seem to be the gem though, because the segmentation fault sometimes occurs in C:/rails/ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/mongrel-1.1.2-x86-mswin32/lib/mongrel.rb:114 or C:/rails/ruby/lib/ruby/1.8/benchmark.rb:306 Versions: >ruby -v ruby 1.8.7 (2012-02-08 patchlevel 358) [i386-mingw32] >rails -v Rails 2.3.11 I'd like to get this fixed so while I'm developing I don't have to keep restarting my server. Any suggestions?

  • Dealing with ISO-encoding in AJAX requests (prototype)

    I have a HTML-page, that's encoded in ISO-8859-1 and a Prototype-AJAX call that's build like this: new Ajax.Request('api.jsp', { method: 'get', parameters: {...}, onSuccess: function(transport) { var ajaxResponse = transport.responseJSON; alert(ajaxResponse.msg); } }); The api.jsp returns its data in ISO-8859-1. The response contains special characters (German Umlauts) that are not displayed correctly, even if I add a "encoding: ISO-8895-1" to the AJAX-request. Does anyone know how to fix this? If I call api.jsp in a new browser window separately the special characters are also corrupt. And I can't get any information about the used encoding in the response header. The response header looks like this: Server Apache-Coyote/1.1 Content-Type application/json Content-Length 208 Date Thu, 29 Apr 2010 14:40:24 GMT Notice: Please don't advice the usage of UTF-8. I have to deal with ISO-8859-1.

  • How to cache queries in Rails across multiple requests

    I want to cache query results so that the same results are fetched "for more than one request" till i invalidate the cache. For instance, I want to render a sidebar which has all the pages of a book, much like the index of a book. As i want to show it on every page of the book, I have to load it on every request. I can cache the rendered sidebar index using action caching, but i also want to actually cache the the query results which are used to generate the html for the sidebar. Does Rails provide a way to do it? How can i do it?

    I am use to VB.NET. The game source code I am learning from is written in C#. I find it annoying that I have to add using System.Diagnostics to the source code in order to type Debug.WriteLine.... I checked under project properties, but I cannot find the References tab that allows me to add namespaces to Imported Namespaces. Where do I find this in C#? Also, why can't I do this in C#? I like the VS syntax highlighting and auto-indentation features but additionally would like advanced features like: contextual info and help, collapsible JavaScript blocks, implicit symbol understanding for searching, refactoring and that kind of thing; also warnings and errors for the js code.     Hi All, ran into an issue, we are using webforms with a site with this dir structure: root: / secure : /securepages/ we only want users who are logged in to access /securepages/. currently we are using the login control, 3.5, forms auth, all is working ok but know we have thrown assl cert into the mix and the issue is that the login control is requesting WebResource.axd?d=XukT0PE1PS-iOKw3RT8Z6g2&t=633834231612265882 from the non secure url e.g. ht tp://www.mysite.com/WebResource.axd?d=XukT0PE1PS-iOKw3RT8Z6g2&t=633834231612265882 . This causes the browser to prompt the user to download unsecure content. I am using some redirecting in the global.asax to handle redirection to https://xx xxxlogin.aspx if login.aspx it requested from http://. thanks

  • jQuery.ajax(): discard slow requests

    I've build a livesearch with the jQuery.ajax() method. On every keyup events it receives new result data from the server. The problem is, when I'm typing very fast, e.g. "foobar" and the GET request of "fooba" requires more time than the "foobar" request, the results of "fooba" are shown. To handle this with the timeout parameter is impossible, I think. Has anyone an idea how to solve this?

    I have an existing web site and I would like to create a mobile version of it that is more suitable. For instance, the main site uses drop-down menus and we all know those are quite the fail on mobile devices. I would like to redirect to my mobile version (it will be a subdomain of the current site) if I detect a request from a mobile browser. So when they Google something and come to my site, they will automatically see the mobile version (just like Wikipedia). Does ASP.NET provide an easy way of doing this? If not, how can I do it?

    Hi! I've been using sIRF for a while but it was the first time I watch the traffic between the client and the server. There is only one file for sIRF, nyala.swf. I am using replacements for some headings, at most 5 or 6 at a time on one page. I can see from firebug the a separate request is going to server for the same swf file. I think I saw a config option to change this behavior but I couldn't find it again. Any ideas?

    Is there a message queue implementation that allows breaking up work into 'batches' by inserting 'message barriers' into the message stream? Let me clarify. No messages after a message barrier should be delivered to any consumers of the queue, until all messages before the barrier are consumed. Sort of like a synchronization point. I'd also prefer if all consumers received notification when they reached a barrier. Anything like this out there?

Im trying this simple calculation in a Java application: System.out.println("b=" + (1 - 7/10)); Obviously Im wainting for "b=0.3" in the output but here's what I get: b=1 What?! Why this happens? If I make: System.out.println("b=" + (1-0.7)); I get the right result which is "b=0.3". What's going wrong here? Thanks!

    Hi, Using a form in a dialog box I am using Dojo in jsp to save the form in my database. After that request is completed using dojo.xhrPost() I am sending in another request to update a dropdown box that should include the added form object that was just saved, but for some reason the request to update the dropdown is executed before saving the form in the database even though the form save is called first. Using Firebug I can see that the getLocations() request is completed before the sendForm() request.
