  • Problem in Displaying HTML Files' Icons in Win 7 ?

    I have Windows 7 x64 (built 7600). I just installed Firefox 3.6 and I set it as my default browser, upon I've set that all of my HTML files were been without any icons! Could you please guide me how I can fix HTML files' icons when FF3.6 is my default browser? Thanks. P.S: Whenever I set IE8 as my default browser the HTML files' icons were fixed.

  • Onclick starts gif animation and .mp3, how to sync across browsers

    So I am using a text-based jplayer (http://jplayer.org/latest/demo-04/) that I want to sync with a gif animation. Onclick the text link does two things -1. feed the jplayer an mp3 and 2. trigger an animation (via SwapImage). It is important for these two to start at the same time. Right now, this works perfectly in chrome/firefox but in IE and mobile browsers the audio lags considerably. I have tried with the audio preloaded (it is a small 40K mp3) and it makes no difference. I dont think its a bandwidth problem because the problem is the same on repeat clicks. Any pointers on how I can resolve this...

    How can I have my google-calendars availabe offline on my PC as well? I have been using dropbox to sync my calendars in ics-format between different PC's instead of using google calendar. The disadvantage of google-calendar is, that I can only see my appointments when online. Now I want to sync my calendars with my android device as well, what does not seem to be possible yet. So I am planning to have an online copy of all my appointments on Google-Calendar, in order to sync them with my Android device. At the same time I want to be able to access my appointments offline (have an offline copy of each calendar on my PC's synced via Dropbox). Is there a way to automatically duplicate and sync Coogle-Calendars with Ubuntu to achieve this?   • Precise: Evolution laggy due to IMAP -profile or due to some odd Sync -issue?

    I'm fighting with Evolution. Basically it's working fine -- but it is very slow to react in certain situations. There is apparently some problem with syncing and IMAP. Helper questios Could be that changing away from Bonobo has to do with slowing-down? There might be some trouble with the new engine and "asynchronous actions". What to do about it? I want to get the previous "working mood" back. How can I speed this thing up? Different scenarios when sending a mail, the composer window hangs there inactive for a couple of seconds, everything grayed out. Though there is a green check mark saying it's sent, I'm not sure a) why it's still blocking everything and b) whether I could simply close it without "breaking"/"losing" anything. In earlier versions, the composer window was closing pretty fast, and one could see the message being stored into the local "outbox" until it was sent, and one could immediately continue with the next task. I prefer that behaviour over the current. switching between modules. Coming from mail and switching to the address book takes a couple of seconds. Same for switching to the calendar. I read about different "possible causes" and tried a few things: I only have 3 local address books, so no networking should be involved here. To make sure, I switched to offline mode and then tried to access the address book. No noticeable difference. I use 3 Google Calendars. Switching to offline mode made a minor difference, but so minor that it also could be "imagination" since one might have expected this in this case according to some reports, disabling the tasks should help. Well, it didn't in my case, as I don't use them regularly (just two local items stored here)

  • Solutions for iOS collaborative sync (iCloud CoreData, CouchDB)?

    I'm developing an iOS app where one of the features will be allowing users to share and collaborate on data (e.g. lists). From everything I've read and based on the way that iCloud CoreData sync works I assume that it would not be a good fit for the following reasons, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything, as I'd prefer not to use a 3rd party syncing solution if at all possible: iCloud sync of any kind (CoreData, Document or Key / Value pairs) can only ever be between devices that use the same iCloud account, so it's designed for a single user syncing data over multiple devices. Any kind of collaborative sync (several people editing the same document / list) simultaneously would be limited to everyone have the same iCloud account. Cases of people sharing the same iCloud account is usually limited to, for example, husband and wife or similar close relationships for a small number of people. iCloud Core Data sync is for ensuring that each sync'd device has the same data. It doesn't seem to allow syncing just a subset of the data, so scenarios in which each user has their own documents and is only sharing / collaborating on a subset of them are not supported. And I'm not even mentioning the well document problems with iCloud CoreData syncing which may or may not have been resolved with iOS 7. Given the above, it would seem that CouchDB (with TouchDB) would be a better option, as it seems to support everything I need. What other options are there that people can recommend?

    Today for some strange reason, Firefox stops working properly because it is trying to fetch something from ajax.googleapis.com. Is there something I can do to avoid this? Safari and Chrome work just fine. I tried uninstalling Firebug and clearing the cache. The only thing that worked was disabling the JavaScript altogether. This seems to be the culprit link: http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js What can I do? EDIT I think I have found where the problem is. My proxy is serving one byte at a time the file, so firefox consume it at that peace. What I don't understand is why Safari and Chrome takes it right away. What I did last night was, leave the FF open all the night to give him change to load the file, my hope was that I got cached and the next time there was no need to go for it. Today in the morning, the page load successfully but the page was not cached, because the next request failed the same. Here's a video showing the problem:

  • Setting Outlook Web Access as default mail client in Firefox

    The company that I work for is nice enough to let me use Linux for work, but they use Outlook. I've been using Outlook Web Access (OWA) as my mail client, which is more or less acceptable. The only problem is that whenever I click on a mailto link or use the "Send Link" menu option in firefox, I'm prompted to use evolution. Since connecting to an exchange server through evolution seems to be sketchy at best, I would like to set OWA as my default mail client. I'm using Firefox 3.6.13 Here's what I've found so far: Default mail client can be found at Edit Menu -> Preferences -> Applications Tab -> mailto When I click on the drop down menu, one of the options is "Application Details" This shows two options by default: Google Yahoo! Mail Each of these shows how to launch that service. For Gmail: https://mail.google.com/mail/?extsrc=mailto&url=%s For Yahoo!: http://compose.mail.yahoo.com/?To=%s I presume that Outlook Web Access has something similar. Based on the googling that I've done so far, I think that this should look something like this: https://<server name>/owa/?cmd=compose... A little experimentation on my part shows that the following will compose a message: https://<email server>/owa/?ae=Item&a=New&t=IPM.Note but I still don't know how to specify recipient, subject or body of the email to be composed... What I want to know is a) does anyone know the URL parameters to compose a mailto in Outlook Web Access, including subject, recipient and body? else b) can someone give me a decent pointer for where to get this information?

  • Disable Certain Firefox Plugins System-wide by Default

    I have firefox installed system-wide for all our users. Unfortunately the Adobe Reader Plug-in is rather flakey and doesn't work some of the time. As a result I want to disable the plug-in by default for all our users, but still allow them to enable it if they want via the standard Tools-Add-ons-Plug-ins menu option. How can I have this plug-ins enabled/disabled status be disabled by default? I've been able to configure system-wide configurations before by setting preferences in the mozilla root folder file defaults/pref/all.js, but enabled/disabled plugins doesn't appear to be configured in the preferences. [edit 1]: I found 'How to manage firefox plugins in pluginreg.dat file' which explained some of the formatting of the pluginreg.dat file.   • firefox, opera 'The connection was reset' on few POST method calls on Windows and Ubuntu

    my website works well with GET method, also few POST methods. Some pages with POST method doesn't work. Some pages with POST work. For example, login page uses POST that works fine. When I post the data on webpage, firefox says "Connecting..." and finally report connection timed out error. The same behavior happens with Opera as well. However Google Chrome works fine. At the server side, I use nginx 1.2.4 with HTTPS and uwsgi for python (flask framework) app. I use geotrust certificate. The same behavior happens with Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 on firefox. I tried firefox in safemode, but no luck. Set auto-detect proxy settings. no luck. Cleared all cookies. no luck Anyone help me to fix this issue? I am posting ngix config. shame on me.   • SSL certificate exception problem in Firefox

    Hi there, and thanks in advance for your help or any tip that could get me out of here. I work on a JEE app with a JBoss server and an Apache. I'm not really familiar with SSL connections and certificates, I understand the basic, but I have to deal with it. So on my local configuration (localhost) I have my connection certificate configured on JBoss and Apache, and a USER_DEV.P12 file, which I import in my certificates in Firefox. I have the same configuration on a distant test server (test-server), and a USER_TEST.P12 which I also import in Firefox. When I access https://localhost/ or https://test-server/ Firefox asks me to add an exception, which is normal. After that, I select the appropriated user certificate, and can use my application normally. But for the second (let's say https://test-server/), Firefox rises me a sec_error_reused_issuer_and_serial error. Of course I googled it and founded the Mozilla help, So when I delete the "server" in my certificate manager, I can access again my second domain, but the same problem occurs for the first one. To shorten the problem, my 2 client/server certificate couples are OK but I can't have 2 certificate exceptions at the same time in Firefox for my 2 different servers/users, even though the names, server address, and MD5 are different. I notified the serial is the same (01), but it's working on my colleague's computer. So am I doing something wrong? Do I have to deal with it manually each time (or with Firefox profiles)?   • Why is Firefox so bloated? [closed]

    First off I am a developer who loves firebug and other development tools (and no Chrome firebug lite does not cut it) and am just utterly frustrated when I have been using Firefox lately. It is at the point where I use Chrome for absolutely everything but web development but am still frustrated that I had to switch where half a year ago or more Firefox was fine. Why can't there be a Firefox lite? One that is free from all the bloat that has been plaguing Firefox recently. Also if there are any tools or tips that I can free up my Firefox that would be great. I am using the newest version + as few add-ons as possible. EDIT: I have tried Chrome Developer Tools and I do like them...but I can't get passed the firebug lite extension of Chrome. Some of the developer tools are great but sometimes they just have too much information. I extensively use Firebug/myphp admin. Both of these work much much better in Firefox then Chrome. But I hate that it takes me so much longer to load and use everything.

  • Firefox add-on development: Register global dynamic custom keyboard shortcuts

    I have been tasked with developing a Firefox add-on that is capable of registering global keyboard shortcuts (ones that will work throughout all areas of Firefox) that will open up the side-bar and execute an XMLRPC request based on previously recorded input. The idea here is that there will be many potential XMLRPC requests that the user will want to execute via a keyboard shortcut. Currently, the add-on is capable of handling pre-defined static keyboard shortcuts via the Firefox overlay. What I would like to achieve, is to allow the user to register their own dynamic custom keyboard shortcut. There is an add-on that currently has some of this functionality, called Keyconfig. I'm not keen on having to ask users to install a second add-on to define their own shortcuts. It also seems that using the dynamic keyboard shortcut registration method in Keyconfig would require the user to close all Firefox windows before the dynamic shortcut is made available. What I would like to know is: Is an XPCOM component the best way to register dynamic keyboard shortcuts from within a Firefox add-on? Is there a way to register the keyboard shortcut so that it is immediately available to all Firefox windows, without having to close the windows beforehand?

    Any idea why when using system proxy settings in firefox, it can not accept a proxy such as: user:[email protected]:port ??? IE will allow and connect to a proxy in this format. Not only does firefox not work, but it does not prompt for the password, nor attempt to make a connection to the proxy. Basically get a "proxy server not found" error. Anybody know a way around this? I am working on a proxy switching program for IE & Firefox, and I would like to use system-wide proxy settings. If I just store the server:port combination, firefox prompts for the password, as well as IE. Then they can be cached and it will not ask again. Maybe my only option is to programmatically cache the user/pass? Anybody know a way to do this? I am pretty sure IE stores them at HTTP basic authentication passwords and I can add them with AddCredential. After saving a password for a proxy in firefox, it shows up in saved passwords in a format like "moz-proxy://server:port" anybody know how to programmatically add a saved password to firefox? Thanks

  • Eclipse sync workspaces/perspectives/preferences across computers

    I have a project I need to be working on from two different computers, at work and at home. I need to be able to work on the code from both computers, so the issue is two fold; Sharing the code Sharing the workspace. 1 is simple enough with svn; but I feel icky committing broken code to svn just so I can access that again from home. I can live with this but is there a better option? To elaborate more on 2. I have a highly customized eclipse setup on one of the computers where I spent hours adding plugins and tweaking every tiny config options I could access to get it to the point where it is just right. It'll be a pain redoing every single change on the other computer, is there some way to automatically sync that? I know I can export preferences from Eclipse and import them, but I don't want to have to manually do that each time I change something. [Also, I don't think exporting preferences also exports perspectives?] Both computers run windows.

  • why did preview stop working from firefox?

    I just installed adobe reader, and now when I click on a PDF in the browser, it is not opened in preview. Adobe doesn't work either, and I am stuck without having the PDF viewed at all. I right clicked on a PDF, and preview is still my default viewer. So this: http://www.ehow.com/how_6764524_make-preview-default-pdf-viewer.html is not helping. Any ideas? I want to be able to use Preview in Firefox.

  • How to mark received sites as read in StumbleUpon toolbar?

    In stumbleupon toolbar for Firefox there is a "92" text is displayed in above pic, these are basically sites sent to me by my stumbleupon friends, so whenever I have sites from my friends, there in the toolbar and when I clicks the Stumble button then it shows those sites to me instead any new site. You can say these are link are like new mails, so there are 92 new mails for me, but I don't want to check those I just want to mark them as read in a single click, and move further to read other old mails. So Is there any option to mark these sites (sent to me by my SU friends) as read, so that when I click Stumble button then new sites will be shown instead sites which are sent by my friends??

    I am thinking of upgrading from firefox 3 to 3.5. However I have loads of plugins and don't know of a way to find out which are compatible, without either going to the web page of each plugin, or upgrading and seeing what breaks. Is there a better way. Prehaps a compatibility plugin, or page?
