    I've searched high and low for this and can't find the answer anywhere. I installed VS2008, but my drive letters are all mapped differently now, and of course I need to add a component to my current installation (VC++). But since I don't know which drive letter it was installed from, and since I don't want to try to figure it out the brute force way, I was hoping that someone here knew how to figure that out. I poked through HKCU and HKLM in the registry, hoping to find the info there, but couldn't. Does anyone know how to get this to work? Right now, I get the error "A selected drive is no longer valid. Please review your installation path settings before continuing with setup".

    I'm working with the studyblast solution (http://studyblast.wordpress.com/2011/08/14/guide-mac-os-x-lion-how-to-boot-a-linux-live-system-from-a-usb-drive-how-to-update-any-ocz-ssds-firmware/) to creating a live usb for osx. I managed to get Ubuntu booted but the screen looks like a corrupt/glitch image. I can just about make out the clock on the bottom right and a few icons. I've been told that this is an easy fix and that nomodeset needs to be set for the graphics card but all the solutions i find are for a hard drive installed Ubuntu where you can cd in and edit the grub file - how do you do this is it's in an iso?     I followed the steps of this guide. I've installed the drivers without any problems with sudo dpkg -i fglrx*.deb. The next step is Generate a new /etc/X11/xorg.conf file, but I can't do this due to the following reason: When I enter sudo aticonfig --initial -f the terminal show me this output: sudo: aticonfig: command not found This problem is caused by an error with the symbolics links into the fglrx directory. Look at this section, where you can see -how to fix it- but it doesn't work for me. Why it doesn't? Because after I enter sudo update-alternatives --auto gl_conf the terminal show me this: update-alternatives: error: no alternatives for gl_conf. What I have to do to fix this problem? One of the command that i used in the installation is for silent installation of SQL Server 2008 R2. When i install it on windows XP everything works just fine but when i try to install it on Windows 7 i get an error. What am I doing wrong?     I just got a new desktop PC and was trying to install Windows 7 on it. Unfortunately I don't have a DVD drive in my laptop to burn a DVD image of Windows installation DVD, so I made a installation USB flash drive. Installation started as normal, but after clicking "Install now" I got a message that Windows can't find CD/DVD drivers and installation can't proceed. I wonder what drivers could it be missing.     I am trying to install bluez 5.2 libraries on Ubuntu 12.04. while running ./configure, I received error for GLib2.0, I was able to resolve by using sudo apt get-install for GLib2. Now I am receiving the error "configure: error: D-Bus = 1.6 is required". I have downloaded DBUS 1.8.6 and installed. but still I am receiving the same error. when checked in /etc folder i still find dbus-1. is there any installation error? Regards, Padma

I see two options: I can use some MediaWiki plugin or I can secure the subdomain with HTTP authentication. However, I'm not sure what the advantages and disadvantages of either are in the long run. Suggestions or advice as to what plugins or authentication methods might be most reliable?

  • Role Center Installation for IIS Default Feature XPS-VIEWER

    While installing Dynamics Ax 2009 Roles Center and Enterprise Portal on Windows Server 2008 R2, there is a prerequisite for IIS Default components which fails to install. The error log file for IIS component installation points to an error while installing feature NET-XPS-VIEWER. This issue can be resolved by editing “ServerManagerCmdInputIIS.xml” file present in the support folder of the DAX 2009 installer. Edit the entry “<Feature Id="NET-XPS-Viewer" />” to “<Feature Id="NET-XPS-Viewer" />” and try reinstalling the installer should now continue uninterrupted. The issue is due to the feature name which is now XPS-VIEWER in windows server 2008 R2. Happy Installing!! :-)

So, how big can your SharePoint 2010 installation be? There are three kinds of limits you should know about Hard limits that cannot be exceeded by design. Configurable that are, well configurable – but the default values are set for a pretty good reason, so if you need to tweak, plan and understand before you tweak. Soft limits, you can exceed them, but it is not recommended that you do. Before you read any of the limits, read these two important disclaimers - 1. The limit depends on what you’re doing. So, don’t take the below as gospel, the reality depends on your situation. 2. There are many additional considerations in planning your SharePoint solution scalability and performance, besides just the below.   • Ubuntu 13.10 gives "Package 'libapache2-mod-auth-mysql' has no installation candidate" error

    I'm trying to install my LAMP environment on Ubuntu 13.10 using my script file that can be found here. That script worked for Ubuntu 12.04, Ubuntu 13.04 but when I try it on Ubuntu 13.10 it gives the following error: E: Package 'libapache2-mod-auth-mysql' has no installation candidate Any idea on how to fix this? Note, I do want this package to be installed. EDIT: I've found out now that the reason this could not be installed was because it needed the following two packages that were missing: libmysqlclient16 and apache2.2-common. Do I just need to install these packages or were they removed for a reason?

  • Ubuntu Preseed set Norwegian Keyboard?

    It's been a couple of days now that I am trying to make a fully automated unattended installation. I managed to make it work with Ubuntu/Cobbler and a preseed file, but I cannot set the correct keyboard layout which is Norwegian in this case. I am doing the tests on a virtual machine and when I am going with a normal manual installation (no preseed) everything is working fine. When I am using the preseed file, I always end up with an "English (US)" keyboard no matter the many different options I have tried. I can change it manually with the "dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration" command, but that's not the case. It should be handled automatically using the preseed file. I am using DEBCONF_DEBUG=5 when the grub is loading, and as I see in "/var/log/installer/syslog" file after the installation has finished, the preseeding commands are accepted. Can anyone help on this?
