    I am running a web application on BEA Weblogic 9.2. Until recently, we were using JDK 1.5.0_04, with JAI 1.1.2_01 and Image IO 1.1. In some circumstances (we never figured out exactly why), when we were processing large images (but not that large - a few MB), the JVM would crash without any error message or stack trace or anything. This didn't happen much in production, but enough to be a nuisance and eventually we were able to reproduce it. We decided to switch to JRockit90 1.5.0_04 and we were no longer able to reproduce the problem in our test environment, so we thought we had it licked. Now, however, after the application server has been up for a while, we start getting the error message, "Not enough storage is available to process this command" during image operations.   • How do I use dependencies in a makefile without calling a target?

    I'm using makefiles to convert an internal file format to an XML file which is sent to other colleagues. They would make changes to the XML file and send it back to us (Don't ask, this needs to be this way ;)). I'd like to use my makefile to update the internal files when this XML changes. So I have these rules: %.internal: $(DATAFILES) # Read changes from XML if any # Create internal representation here %.xml: %.internal # Convert to XML here Now the XML could change because of the workflow described above. But since no data files have changed, make would tell me that file.internal is up-to-date. I would like to avoid making %.internal target phony and a circular dependency on %.xml obviously doesn't work. Any other way I could force make to check for changes in the XML file and re-build %.internal?

  • A tool or framework extension or code snippet for logging the internal state of objects?

    When spiking on how something works or when my unit test behave in an unpredictable manner I usually have to drop into debug mode. 99% of my time in debug mode is spent checking the values of fields on objects to verify its state. I already have log4net set up, it would seem that if I could easily add a line of code to log out the state of objects I could remove most of my need to start up the bulky debugger. The problem is of course that to expose object state implicitly you need to manually override each object's ToString() method. What I would like to be able to do is the ability to do logger.LogState(someObject) and have logged out the object state including at least a formatted list of all the private variables, references (to some arbitrary depth), and collections. Does anyone know a tool/framework/code snippet that can be used to generate a string of the internal state of any object? I could of course write one myself but its a non-trivial problem and I'd prefer something someone has put some thought into.

The main Problme is that I have tried to resolve abstract inherince problems. But now I get this error and it is the only one. "irr::IReferenceCounted" is one of the base classes used by other classes which have been inherinced from. What does that mean? I know that an integer overflow can be a normal overflow, but why is this shown during compilation? Any help appreciated! -db

    When using TextRenderer.DrawText(), what does setting the TextFormatFlags.Internal flag actually do? Equivalently, what does setting the DT_INTERNAL flag to Win32's DrawTextEx() function do? More to the point, when should I set that flag and when should I not set it? The documentation says: "Uses the system font to calculate text metrics", but I'm not entirely sure what that means. I've done some limited testing and setting the flag seems to change how the font is rendered when using a small font size, but doesn't seem to make a difference when using a large font size.

This warning flashes whenever I try to move to another instruction using 'n' or enter or leave a function. I have tried to look this up in other forums, but with no conclusive answer. Now, let's take the following monkey patch and its enumerator, as an example o = Object.new def o.each yield 1 yield 2 yield 3 end e = o.to_enum loop do puts e.next end Given that the Enumerator object uses the each method to answer when next is called, how do calls to the each method look like, every time next is called? Does the Enumeartor class pre-load all the contents of o.each and creates a local copy for enumeration? Or is there some sort of Ruby magic that hangs the operations at each yield statement until next is called on the enumeartor? If an internal copy is made, is it a deep copy? What about I/O objects that could be used for external enumeration? I'm using Ruby 1.9.2.

  • Is there any way to store full size image returned from camera activity in internal memory ?

    I am using Intent intent = new Intent(MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE); intent.putExtra(MediaStore.EXTRA_OUTPUT,Uri.fromFile(externalFileObj)); intent to call default camera activity. To get full image you need to specify intent.putExtra(). But this always requires URI that works only for external storage files. I tried to create a temp.jpg image in internal memory and pass its URI Uri.fromFile(new File(getFilesDir() + "/temp.jpg")); but the camera activity won't return back after the image is captured. So there is no way to get Full size image from default camera application in our activity without using any external storage ? Assuming that the device do not have SD card or currently in use is there no way I can avoid using it ? Yes I know we can create our own camerapreview surface but I want to use the default camera application as it is natural with many more options. Thanks.
