  • error when I use GWT RPC

    - by Sebe
Hello everyone... I have a problem with Eclipse when I use an RPC.. • WebLogic job scheduling

    - by XpiritO
Hello, overflowers :) I'm trying to implement a WebLogic job scheduling example, to test my cluster capabilities of fail-over on scheduled tasks (to ensure that these tasks are executed on fail over scenario). With this in mind, I've been following this example and trying to configure everything accordingly. Here are the steps I've done so far: Configured a cluster with 1 admin server (AdminServer) and 2 managed instances (Noddy and Snoopy); Set up database tables (using Oracle XE): ACTIVE and WEBLOGIC_TIMERS; Set up data source to access DB and associated it to the scheduling tasks under "Settings for cluster" "Scheduling"; Implemented a job (TimerListener) and a servlet to initialize the job scheduling, as follows: . package timedexecution; import java.io.IOException; import java.io.PrintWriter; import java.io.Serializable; import java.text.SimpleDateFormat; import java.util.Date; import javax.naming.InitialContext; import javax.naming.NamingException; import javax.servlet.ServletException; import javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet; import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest; import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse; import commonj.timers.Timer; import commonj.timers.TimerListener; import commonj.timers.TimerManager; public class TimerServlet extends HttpServlet { private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; protected static void logMessage(String message, PrintWriter out){ out.write("<p>"+ message +"</p>"); System.out.println(message); } @Override public void service(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException { PrintWriter out = response.getWriter(); // out.println("<html>"); out.println("<head><title>TimerServlet</title></head>"); // try { // logMessage("service() entering try block to intialize the timer from JNDI", out); // InitialContext ic = new InitialContext(); TimerManager jobScheduler = (TimerManager)ic.lookup("weblogic.JobScheduler"); // logMessage("jobScheduler reference " + jobScheduler, out); // jobScheduler.schedule(new ExampleTimerListener(), 0, 30*1000); // logMessage("Timer scheduled!", out); // //execute this job every 30 seconds logMessage("service() started the timer", out); // logMessage("Started the timer - status:", out); // } catch (NamingException ne) { String msg = ne.getMessage(); logMessage("Timer schedule failed!", out); logMessage(msg, out); } catch (Throwable t) { logMessage("service() error initializing timer manager with JNDI name weblogic.JobScheduler " + t,out); } // out.println("</body></html>"); out.close(); } private static class ExampleTimerListener implements Serializable, TimerListener { private static final long serialVersionUID = 8313912206357147939L; public void timerExpired(Timer timer) { SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat(); System.out.println( "timerExpired() called at " + sdf.format( new Date() ) ); } } } Then I executed the servlet to start the scheduling on the first managed instance (Noddy server), which returned as expected: (Servlet execution output) service() entering try block to intialize the timer from JNDI jobScheduler reference weblogic.scheduler.TimerServiceImpl@43b4c7 Timer scheduled! service() started the timer Started the timer - status: Which resulted in the creation of 2 rows in my DB tables: WEBLOGIC_TIMERS table state after servlet execution: "EDIT"; "TIMER_ID"; "LISTENER"; "START_TIME"; "INTERVAL"; "TIMER_MANAGER_NAME"; "DOMAIN_NAME"; "CLUSTER_NAME"; ""; "Noddy_1268653040156"; "[datatype]"; "1268653040156"; "30000"; "weblogic.JobScheduler"; "myCluster"; "Cluster" ACTIVE table state after servlet execution: "EDIT"; "SERVER"; "INSTANCE"; "DOMAINNAME"; "CLUSTERNAME"; "TIMEOUT"; ""; "service.SINGLETON_MASTER"; "6382071947583985002/Noddy"; "QRENcluster"; "Cluster"; "10.03.15" Although, the job is not executed as scheduled. It should print a message on the server's log output (Noddy.out file) with a timestamp, saying that the timer had expired. It doesn't. My log files state as follows: Admin server log (myCluster.log file): ####<15/Mar/2010 10H45m GMT> <Warning> <Cluster> <test-ad> <Noddy> <[STANDBY] ExecuteThread: '1' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'> <<WLS Kernel>> <> <> <1268649925727> <BEA-000192> <No currently living server was found that could host TimerMaster. • How can I define a clojure type that implements the servlet interface?

    - by Rob Lachlan
I'm attempting to use deftype (from the bleeding-edge clojure 1.2 branch) to create a java class that implements the java Servlet interface. I would expect the code below to compile (even though it's not very useful). (ns foo [:import [javax.servlet Servlet ServletRequest ServletResponse]]) (deftype servlet [] javax.servlet.Servlet (service [this #^javax.servlet.ServletRequest request #^javax.servlet.ServletResponse response] nil)) But it doesn't compile. The compiler produces the message: Mismatched return type: service, expected: void, had: java.lang.Object [Thrown class java.lang.IllegalArgumentException] Which doesn't make sense to me, because I'm returning nil. So the fact that the return type of the method is void shouldn't be a problem. For instance, for the java.util.Set interface: (deftype bar [#^Number n] java.util.Set (clear [this] nil)) compiles without issue. So what am I doing wrong with the Servlet interface? To be clear: I know that the typical case is to subclass one of the servlet abstract classes rather than implement this interface directly, but it should still be possible to do this. Stack Trace: The stack trace for the (deftype servlet... is: Mismatched return type: service, expected: void, had: java.lang.Object [Thrown class java.lang.IllegalArgumentException] Restarts: 0: [ABORT] Return to SLIME's top level. • ArrayList throwing exception on retrieval from google datastore (with gwt, java)

    - by sumeet
I'm using Google Web Toolkit with java and google datastore as database. The entity class has arraylist and on trying to retrieve the data from data base I'm getting the exception: Type 'org.datanucleus.sco.backed.ArrayList' was not included in the set of types which can be serialized by this SerializationPolicy or its Class object could not be loaded. For security purposes, this type will not be serialized. I'm using JPA. Entity code: package com.ver2.DY.client; import java.io.Serializable; import java.util.ArrayList; import javax.jdo.annotations.IdGeneratorStrategy; import javax.jdo.annotations.PersistenceCapable; import javax.jdo.annotations.Persistent; import javax.jdo.annotations.PrimaryKey; import com.google.gwt.user.client.rpc.IsSerializable; @PersistenceCapable public class ChatInfo implements Serializable, IsSerializable{ @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Long topicId; @Persistent private String chatTopic; @Persistent private ArrayList messages = new ArrayList(); @Persistent private boolean isFirstPost; public ChatInfo() { } public Long getTopicId() { return topicId; } public void setTopicId(Long topicId) { this.topicId = topicId; } public String getChatTopic() { return chatTopic; } public void setChatTopic(String chatTopic) { this.chatTopic = chatTopic; } public ArrayList getMessages() { return messages; } public void addMessage(String newMsg) { messages.add(newMsg); } public boolean isFirstPost() { return isFirstPost; } public void setFirstPost(boolean isFirstPost) { this.isFirstPost = isFirstPost; } } Method in db class: @Transactional public ChatInfo[] getAllChat() { PersistenceManager pm = PMF.get().getPersistenceManager(); List chats = null; ChatInfo[] infos = null; String query = "select from " + ChatInfo.class.getName(); try{ chats = (List) pm.newQuery(query).execute(); infos = new ChatInfo[chats.size()]; for(int i=0;i } It is a bit strange because earlier I was able to insert and retrieve the data but it now throwing an exception. On searching the web I could find that I need to convert the Arraylist from some DataNucleus type to java util but not sure how to do that.

  • Eclipselink factory.createEntityManager() stalls with more than one instance running

    - by Raven
    Hi, with my RCP program I have the problem that I want to have more than one copy running on my PC. The first instance runs very good. If I start the second instance, everything is fine until I want to access the database. Using this code: .. Map properties = new HashMap(); properties.put("javax.persistence.jdbc.driver", dbDriver); properties.put("javax.persistence.jdbc.url", dbUrl); properties.put("javax.persistence.jdbc.user", dbUser); properties.put("javax.persistence.jdbc.password", dbPass); try { factory = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory( PERSISTENCE_UNIT_NAME, properties); } catch (Exception e) { System.out.println(e); } em=factory.createEntityManager(); // the second instance stops here ... with an persistence.xml of <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <persistence version="1.0" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence/persistence_1_0.xsd"> <persistence-unit name="default"> <provider>org.eclipse.persistence.jpa.PersistenceProvider</provider> <class>myclasshere</class> <properties> <property name="eclipselink.ddl-generation" value="create-tables" /> <property name="eclipselink.ddl-generation.output-mode" value="database" /> <property name="eclipselink.jdbc.read-connections.min" value="1" /> <property name="eclipselink.jdbc.write-connections.min" value="1" /> <property name="eclipselink.jdbc.batch-writing" value="JDBC" /> <property name="eclipselink.logging.level" value="SEVERE" /> <property name="eclipselink.logging.timestamp" value="false" /> <property name="eclipselink.logging.session" value="false" /> <property name="eclipselink.logging.thread" value="false" /> </properties> </persistence-unit> </persistence> The program stalls / does not continue in the second instance beyond this step: em=factory.createEntityManager(); Debugging the program step by step showed me, that nothing happens at this point. Perhaps the program runs into a timeout. I havent been wainting for more than 1 minute.... Do you have any clues what might cause this stall might?

  • Maven building for GoogleAppEngine, forced to include JDO libraries?

    - by James.Elsey
Hi, I'm trying to build my application for GoogleAppEngine using maven. I've added the following to my pom which should "enhance" my classes after building, as suggested on the DataNucleus documentation <plugin> <groupId>org.datanucleus</groupId> <artifactId>maven-datanucleus-plugin</artifactId> <version>1.1.4</version> <configuration> <log4jConfiguration>${basedir}/log4j.properties</log4jConfiguration> <verbose>true</verbose> </configuration> <executions> <execution> <phase>process-classes</phase> <goals> <goal>enhance</goal> </goals> </execution> </executions> </plugin> According to the documentation on GoogleAppEngine, you have the choice to use JDO or JPA, I've chosen to use JPA since I have used it in the past. When I try to build my project (before I upload to GAE) using mvn clean package I get the following output [ERROR] BUILD ERROR [INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [INFO] Failed to resolve artifact. Missing: ---------- 1) javax.jdo:jdo2-api:jar:2.3-ec Try downloading the file manually from the project website. Then, install it using the command: mvn install:install-file -DgroupId=javax.jdo -DartifactId=jdo2-api -Dversion=2.3-ec -Dpackaging=jar -Dfile=/path/to/file Alternatively, if you host your own repository you can deploy the file there: mvn deploy:deploy-file -DgroupId=javax.jdo -DartifactId=jdo2-api -Dversion=2.3-ec -Dpackaging=jar -Dfile=/path/to/file -Durl=[url] -DrepositoryId=[id] Path to dependency: 1) org.datanucleus:maven-datanucleus-plugin:maven-plugin:1.1.4 2) javax.jdo:jdo2-api:jar:2.3-ec ---------- 1 required artifact is missing. for artifact: org.datanucleus:maven-datanucleus-plugin:maven-plugin:1.1.4 from the specified remote repositories: __jpp_repo__ (file:///usr/share/maven2/repository), DN_M2_Repo (http://www.datanucleus.org/downloads/maven2/), central (http://repo1.maven.org/maven2) [INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [INFO] For more information, run Maven with the -e switch [INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [INFO] Total time: 3 seconds [INFO] Finished at: Sat Apr 03 16:02:39 BST 2010 [INFO] Final Memory: 31M/258M [INFO] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Any ideas why I should get such an error? I've searched through my entire source code and I'm not referencing JDO anywhere, so unless the app engine libraries require it, I'm not sure why I get this message.

  • Spring's JMS Design Question : Decouple processing of messages

    - by java_pill
I'm using a message listener to process some messages from MQ based on Spring's DefaultMessageListenerContainer. After I receive a message, I have to make a Web Service (WS) call. However, I don't want to do this in the onMessage method because it would block the onMessage method until the invocation of WS is successful and this introduces latency in dequeuing of messages from the queue. How can I decouple the invocation of the Web Service by calling it outside of the onMesage method or without impacting the dequeuing of messages? Thanks,

  • Using Complex datatype with python SUDS client

hi, I am trying to call webservice from python client using SUDS. When I call a function with a complex data type as input parameter, it is not passed correctly, but complex data type is getting returned correctly froma webservice call. Webservice Type: Soap Binding 1.1 Document/Literal Webserver: Weblogic 10.3 Python Version: 2.6.5, SUDS version: 0.3.9 here is the code I am using: Python Client: from suds.client import Client url = 'http://192.168.1.3:7001/WebServiceSecurityOWSM-simple_ws-context-root/SimpleServicePort?WSDL' client = Client(url) print client #simple function with no operation on input... result = client.service.sopHello() print result result = client.service.add10(10) print result params = client.factory.create('paramBean') print params params.intval = 10 params.longval = 20 params.strval = 'string value' #print "params" print params try: result = client.service.printParamBean(params) print result except WebFault, e: print e try: result = client.service.modifyParamBean(params) print result except WebFault, e: print e print params webservice java class: package simple_ws; import javax.jws.Oneway; import javax.jws.WebMethod; import javax.jws.WebService; import javax.jws.soap.SOAPBinding; public class SimpleService { public SimpleService() { } public void sopHello(int i) { System.out.println("sopHello: hello"); } public int add10(int i) { System.out.println("add10:"); return 10+i; } public void printParamBean(ParamBean pb) { System.out.println(pb); } public ParamBean modifyParamBean(ParamBean pb) { System.out.println(pb); pb.setIntval(pb.getIntval()+10); pb.setStrval(pb.getStrval()+"blah blah"); pb.setLongval(pb.getLongval()+200); return pb; } } and the bean Class: package simple_ws; public class ParamBean { int intval; String strval; long longval; public void setIntval(int intval) { this.intval = intval; } public int getIntval() { return intval; } public void setStrval(String strval) { this.strval = strval; } public String getStrval() { return strval; } public void setLongval(long longval) { this.longval = longval; } public long getLongval() { return longval; } public String toString() { String stri = "\nInt val:" +intval; String strstr = "\nstrval val:" +strval; String strl = "\nlong val:" +longval; return stri+strstr+strl; } } so, as issue is like this: on call: client.service.printParamBean(params) in python client, output on server side is: Int val:0 strval val:null long val:0 but on call: client.service.modifyParamBean(params) Client output is: (reply){ intval = 10 longval = 200 strval = "nullblah blah" } What am i doing wrong here??

  • Google Collections sources don't compile

    - by Carl Rosenberger
I just downloaded the Google Collections sources and imported them into a new Eclipse project with JDK 1.6. They don't compile for a couple of reasons: javax.annotation.Nullable can not be found javax.annotation.ParametersAreNonnullByDefault can not be found Cannot reduce the visibility of the inherited method #createCollection() from AbstractMultimap + 11 similar ones Name clash: The method forcePut(K, V) of type AbstractBiMap has the same erasure as forcePut(Object, Object) of type BiMap but does not override it + 2 similar ones What am I missing? I also wonder if unit tests for these collections are available to the public.

  • JPanel components paint-time problem

    - by Tom Brito
I'm having a problem that when my frame is shown (after a login dialog) the buttons are not on correct position, then in some miliseconds they go to the right position (the center of the panel with border layout). When I make a SSCCE, it works correct, but when I run my whole code I have this fast-miliseconds delay to the buttons to go to the correct place. Unfortunately, I can't post the whole code, but the method that shows the frame is: public void login(JComponent userView) { centerPanel.removeAll(); centerPanel.add(userView); centerPanel.revalidate(); centerPanel.repaint(); frame.setVisible(true); } What would cause this delay to the panel layout? (I'm running everything in the EDT) -- update In my machine, this SSCCE shows the layout problem in 2 of 10 times I run it: import java.awt.BorderLayout; import javax.swing.JButton; import javax.swing.JFrame; import javax.swing.JPanel; import javax.swing.SwingUtilities; public class TEST { public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception { SwingUtilities.invokeAndWait(new Runnable() { @Override public void run() { System.out.println("Debug test..."); JPanel btnPnl = new JPanel(); btnPnl.add(new JButton("TEST")); JFrame f = new JFrame("TEST"); f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); f.getContentPane().setLayout(new BorderLayout()); f.getContentPane().add(btnPnl); f.pack(); f.setSize(800, 600); f.setVisible(true); System.out.println("End debug test!"); } }); } } The button first appers in the up-left, and then it goes to the center. Please, note that I'm understand, not just correct. Is it a java bug? --update OK, so the SSCCE don't show the problem with you that tried till now. Maybe it's my computer performance problem. But this don't answer the question, I still think Java Swing is creating new threads for make the layout behind the scenes.

  • Correct way to make datasources/resources a deploy-time setting

    - by Draemon
I have a web-app that requires two settings: A JDBC datasource A string token I desperately want to be able to deploy one .war to various different containers (jetty,tomcat,gf3 minimum) and configure these settings at application level within the container. My code does this: InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext(); Context envCtx = (javax.naming.Context) ctx.lookup("java:comp/env"); token = (String)envCtx.lookup("token"); ds = (DataSource)envCtx.lookup("jdbc/datasource") Let's assume I've used the glassfish management interface to create two jdbc resources: jdbc/test-datasource and jdbc/live-datasource which connect to different copies of the same schema, on different servers, different credentials etc. Say I want to deploy this to glassfish with and point it at the test datasource, I might have this in my sun-web.xml: ... <resource-ref> <res-ref-name>jdbc/datasource</res-ref-name> <jndi-name>jdbc/test-datasource</jndi-name> </resource-ref> ... but sun-web.xml goes inside my war, right? surely there must be a way to do this through the management interface Am I even trying to do the right thing? Do other containers make this any easier? I'd be particularly interested in how jetty 7 handles this since I use it for development. EDIT Tomcat has a reasonable way to do this: Create $TOMCAT_HOME/conf/Catalina/localhost/webapp.xml with: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <Context antiResourceLocking="false" privileged="true"> <!-- String resource --> <Environment name="token" value="value of token" type="java.lang.String" override="false" /> <!-- Linking to a global resource --> <ResourceLink name="jdbc/datasource1" global="jdbc/test" type="javax.sql.DataSource" /> <!-- Derby --> <Resource name="jdbc/datasource2" type="javax.sql.DataSource" auth="Container" driverClassName="org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDataSource" url="jdbc:derby:test;create=true" /> <!-- H2 --> <Resource name="jdbc/datasource3" type="javax.sql.DataSource" auth="Container" driverClassName="org.h2.jdbcx.JdbcDataSource" url="jdbc:h2:~/test" username="sa" password="" /> </Context> Note that override="false" means the opposite. It means that this setting can't be overriden by web.xml. I like this approach because the file is part of the container configuration not the war, but it's not part of the global configuration; it's webapp specific. I guess I expect a bit more from glassfish since it is supposed to have a full web admin interface, but I would be happy enough with something equivalent to the above.

  • JAVA - Strange problem (probably thread problem) with JTable & Model

    - by Stefanos Kargas
I am using 2 Tables (JTable) with their DefaultTableModels. The first table is already populated. The second table is populated for each row of the first table (using an SQL Query). My purpose is to export every line of the first table with it's respective lines of the second in an Excel File. I am doing it with a for (for each line of 1st table), in which I write a line of the 1st table in the Excel File, then I populate the 2nd table (for this line of 1st Table), I get every line from the Table (from it's Model actually) and put it in the Excel File under the current line of 1st table. This means that if I have n lines in first table I will clear and populate again the second table n times. All this code is called in a seperate thread. THE PROBLEM IS: Everything works perfectly fine ecxept that I am getting some exceptions. The strange thing is that I'm not getting anything false in my result. The Excel file is perfect. Some of the lines of the exceptions are: Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 0 = 0 at java.util.Vector.elementAt(Vector.java:427) at javax.swing.table.DefaultTableModel.getValueAt(DefaultTableModel.java:632) at javax.swing.JComponent.paint(JComponent.java:1017) at javax.swing.RepaintManager.paint(RepaintManager.java:1220) at javax.swing.RepaintManager.paintDirtyRegions(RepaintManager.java:803) I am assuming that the problem lies in the fact that the second table needs some more time to be populated before I try to get any data from it. That's why I see RepaintManager and paintDirtyRegions in my exceptions. Another thing I did is that I ran my program in debug mode and I put a breakpoint after each population of the 2nd table. Then I pressed F5 to continue for each population of 2nd table and no exception appeared. The program came to it's end without any exceptions. This is another important fact that tells me that maybe in this case I gave the table enough time to be populated. Of course you will ask me: If your program works fine, why do you care about the exceptions? I care for avoiding any future problems and I care to have a better understanding of Java and Java GUI and threads. Why do you depend on a GUI component (and it's model) to get your information and why don't you recreate the resultset that populates your tables using an SQL Query and get your info from the resultset? That would be the best and the right way. The fact is that I have the tables code ready and it was easier for me to just get the info from them. But the right way would be to get everything direct from database. Anyway what I did brought out my question, and answering it would help me understand more things about java. So I posted it.
