  • Enter / Return key stops working

    I have a Dell Latitude E5400 laptop running Windows 7. Everything runs fine on it for days then I suddenly notice the enter/return key is no longer working e.g. I could be writing an email, press enter for a new line but it doesn’t ‘register’ – so no new line. I thought it might be some dirt under the key perhaps so I tried running the Windows onscreen keyboard but the Enter key on that doesn’t work either. A reboot always fixes the problem but it’s a pain. Any ideas a) how to fix it and b) out of interest, is there some other key combination that I can use as an alternative to using the Enter key when I need to? UPDATE: Thanks to CarlF's suggestion, I tried exiting running programmes and found it seems to be a problem with PhraseExpress.

  • Cannot use `su` or `sudo` after set up key-based access to SSH

    I'm following this tuturial to setup key-based access to the SSH I created a user. I add copy the key to the client via ssh-copy-id <username>@<host> Becasuse ssh <username>@<host> still prompts for a password I run ssh-add on the local machine. The terminal doens't prompt for a password, I can login without using a password. But I cannot run su anymore. Every input for the password results in Authentication failure. I tried it again. But before coping the key, I added to the sudoer file. Copied key, ssh-add. But now I cannot login to my SSH shell att all? How can I setup a key-based SSH access with the possibiluty to use su or sudo?

    Hey all Basically for my final project at university, I'm developing a vehicle license plate detection application. Now I consider myself an intermediate programmer, however my mathematics knowledge lacks anything above secondary school, therefore producing detection formulae is basically impossible. Due to this testing various graphic images proved productive, for example: to However this approach is only catered to that particular image, and if the techniques were applied to different images, I'm sure a different, most likely poorer conversion would occur. I've read about a formula called the bottom hat morphology transform, which according to the first does the following: "Basically, the trans- formation keeps all the dark details of the picture, and eliminates everything else (including bigger dark regions and light regions)." Sadly I can't find much information on this, however the image within the documentation near the end of the report shows it's effectiveness. I'm aware this is complicated and vast, I'd just appreciate a little advice, even in terms of what transformation techniques I should focus on developing, or algorithm regarding edge detection or pixel detection.   • License For (Mostly) Open Source Website / Service

    I have an interesting setup and am not sure how to license a website. I know this is not legal advice, and I am not asking for any. There are so many different Open Source Licenses and I do not have the time to read every last one to see which best fits my situation. Really, I am looking for suggestions and a nudge in the right direction. My setup is: I give away for free version of my web service with a clean website interface. The implementation I use in the actual web site is (almost) identical to what I give away. The main service works the exactly the same way, but the website interface to manage features in the service is fairly different. Really the web interfaces have the same exact backend, and the front ends accomplish the same tasks, but the service I offer on my site is very rich and uses a good deal of javascript, where I kept the interface in the version I give away as simple and javascript-less as possible. Mostly so it is easy to understand and integrate into other sites. I am not entirely sure how I should license this. It is more like I develop an open source service but have a separate site built upon it. I like the GPLv3 but I am not sure if I can use it in this case especially since I am making some money off of google ad's on the site and plan on using amazon affiliates as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I do want to open it up as much as possible. But I still want to be able to continue with my own implementation.     This is not a real situation; please ignore legal issues that you might think apply, because they don't. Let's say I have a set of 200 known valid license keys for a hypothetical piece of software's licensing algorithm, and a license key consists of 5 sets of 5 alphanumeric case-insensitive (all uppercase) characters. Example: HXDY6-R3DD7-Y8FRT-UNPVT-JSKON Is it possible (or likely) to extrapolate other possible keys for the system? What if the set was known to be consecutive; how do the methods change for this situation, and what kind of advantage does this give? I have heard of "keygens" before, but I believe they are probably made by decompiling the licensing software rather than examining known valid keys. In this case, I am only given the set of keys and I must determine the algorithm. I'm also told it is an industry standard algorithm, so it's probably not something basic, though the chance is always there I suppose. If you think this doesn't belong in Stack Overflow, please at least suggest an alternate place for me to look or ask the question. I honestly don't know where to begin with a problem like this. I don't even know the terminology for this kind of problem.

  • Keyboard problem with ubuntu 13.10 when holding key down

    I have the fallowing problem after isntalling the new Ubuntu OS. When i press and hold a key, for example "p" it writes one time "p", and while i am holding it the other "pppp" that are written come with a huge delay between each other - like 1 second or more. If i want to hold down backspace to delete a string of 5 letters it takes me like 10 seconds to do it. Is this a reported problem or does anybody has a solution to this problem?

So I did some googling on this error and saw the suggestion to try shrinking my other dbs to free up some space. So I did so on the 4.1gb db and now when I go to 'properties' for that db it says it is taking/using ~2.4gb. So I should have space now I figure, but whenever I try to restore the ~250mb database now I still get the error message above.. I tried restarting as well but that wasn't helpful. Any idea what the issue is?
