  • SPSiteDataQuery Returns Only One List Type At A Time

    - by Brian Jackett
    The SPSiteDataQuery class in SharePoint 2007 is very powerful, but it has a few limitations.  One of these limitations that I ran into this morning (and caused hours of frustration) is that you can only return results from one list type at a time.  For example, if you are trying to query items from an out of the box custom list (list type = 100) and document library (list type = 101) you will only get items from the custom list (SPSiteDataQuery defaults to list type = 100.)  In my situation I was attempting to query multiple lists (created from custom list templates 10001 and 10002) each with their own content types. Solution     Since I am only able to return results from one list type at a time, I was forced to run my query twice with each time setting the ServerTemplate (translates to ListTemplateId if you are defining custom list templates) before executing the query.  Below is a snippet of the code to accomplish this. SPSiteDataQuery spDataQuery = new SPSiteDataQuery(); spDataQuery.Lists = "<Lists ServerTemplate='10001' />"; // ... set rest of properties for spDataQuery   var results = SPContext.Current.Web.GetSiteData(spDataQuery).AsEnumerable();   // only change to SPSiteDataQuery is Lists property for ServerTemplate attribute spDataQuery.Lists = "<Lists ServerTemplate='10002' />";   // re-execute query and concatenate results to existing entity results = results.Concat(SPContext.Current.Web.GetSiteData(spDataQuery).AsEnumerable());   Conclusion     Overall this isn’t an elegant solution, but it’s a workaround for a limitation with the SPSiteDataQuery.  I am now able to return data from multiple lists spread across various list templates.  I’d like to thank those who commented on this MSDN page that finally pointed out the limitation to me.  Also a thanks out to Mark Rackley for “name dropping” me in his latest article (which I humbly insist I don’t belong in such company)  as well as encouraging me to write up a quick post on this issue above despite my busy schedule.  Hopefully this post saves some of you from the frustrations I experienced this morning using the SPSiteDataQuery.  Until next time, Happy SharePoint’ing all.         -Frog Out   Links MSDN Article for SPSiteDataQuery http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.sharepoint.spsitedataquery.lists.aspx

  • Inheritance of list-style-type property in Firefox (bug in Firebug?)

    - by Marcel Korpel
    Let's have a look at some comments on a page generated by Wordpress (it's not a site I maintain, I'm just wondering what's going on here). As these pages might disappear in the near future, I've put some screenshots online. Here's what I saw: Obviously, the list-item markers shouldn't be there. So I decided to look at the source using Firebug. As you can see, Firebug claims that the list-style property (containing none) is inherited from ol.commentlist. But if that's the case, why are the circle and the square visible? When checking the computed style, Firebug shows the list-style-types correctly. What's the correct behaviour? I just did a quick check in Chromium, whose Web Inspector gave a better view of reality (the list item markers were also displayed in this browser): According to WebKit, list-style of ol.commentlist isn't inherited, only the default value of list-style-type from the rendering engine. So, we may conclude that the output of both browsers is correct and that Firefox (Firebug) shows an incorrect representation of inherited styles. What does the CSS specification say? Inheritance will transfer the list-style values from OL and UL elements to LI elements. This is the recommended way to specify list style information. Not much about the inheritance of ol properties to uls. Is Firebug wrong in this respect? BTW, I managed to let the markers disappear by just changing line 312 of style.css to ol.commentlist, li.commentlist, ul.children { When also explicitly defining the list-style of ul.children to none, the markers are not painted. You can have a look at screenshots of Firebug and WebKit's Web Inspector in this case, if you like.

  • Copy a LinkedList that has a Random Pointer in it

    - by Bragaadeesh
    Hi, First of all this is not a homework, this is an interview question that I got from a company I attended today. You have a singly linked list with the Node structure as the following class Node{ int data; Node next; Node random; } You have a typical singly linked list of length n. The random pointer in each node in the linkedlist randomly points to some Node within the linked list. The Question is to create a copy of the linked list efficiently into a different LinkedList. I said that I will first calculate the Random pointer's position in the linked list and store it in an array. Then create a new linked list normally. Then iterate through the linked list by setting the random pointer where they belong by reading the values stored from the array. I know its a very brute force technique and the interviewer asked me to come up with a better solution but I couldnt. Please can someone answer this? I can explain if the question is not clear.

  • parsing a list and producing a structure of that

    - by qzar
    ;; structure representing homework points ;; nr: number - the number of the homework ;; points: number - the number of points reached (define-struct homework (nr points)) ;; parse-homework: (list of number pairs) -> (list of homework) ;; The procedure takes a list of number pairs and produces a list of homework structures ;; Example: (parse-homework (list (list 1 6) (list 2 7) (list 3 0))) should produce (list (make-homework 1 6) (make-homework 2 7) (make-homework 3 0)) (define (parse-homework homework-entries) (if (and (= (length (first homework-entries) 2))(= (length (parse-homework (rest homework-entries)) 2))) (make-homework (first homework-entries) (parse-homework (rest homework-entries))) (error 'Non-valid-input "entered list is not of length two")) ) (parse-homework (list (list 1 6) (list 2 7) (list 3 0))) This code produces the error length: expects 1 argument, given 2: (list 1 6) 2 I really appreciate every explanation that you can give me to get in in this scheme-stuff... Thank you very much

  • How do I aggregate results from an Adjacency list using PHP's SPL

    - by Stephen J. Fuhry
    I've tried using nested sets, and they become very difficult to maintain when dealing with multiple trees and lots of other complications.. I'd like to give PHP's SPL library a stab at this (btw, we are PHP 5.3, MySQL 5.1). Given two datasets: The Groups: +-------+--------+---------------------+---------------+ | id | parent | Category Name | child_key | +-------+--------+---------------------+---------------+ | 11133 | 7707 | Really Cool Products| 47054 | | 7709 | 7708 | 24" Monitors | 57910 | | 7713 | 7710 | Hot Tubs | 35585 | | 7716 | 7710 | Hot Dogs | 00395 | | 11133 | 7707 | Really Cool Products| 66647 | | 7715 | 7710 | Suction Cups | 08396 | +-------+--------+---------------------+---------------+ The Items +------------+------------+-----------+----------+---------+ | child_key | totalprice | totalcost | totalqty | onorder | (jan, feb, mar..) +------------+------------+-----------+----------+---------+ | 24171 | 10.50 | 20.10 | 200 | 100 | | 35685 | 10.50 | 20.10 | 200 | 100 | | 76505 | 10.50 | 20.10 | 200 | 100 | | 04365 | 10.50 | 20.10 | 200 | 100 | | 01975 | 10.50 | 20.10 | 200 | 100 | | 12150 | 10.50 | 20.10 | 200 | 100 | | 40060 | 10.50 | 20.10 | 200 | 100 | | 08396 | 10.50 | 20.10 | 200 | 100 | +------------+------------+-----------+----------+---------+ The figures are actually much more complicated than this (I am actually aggregating a variable amount of months or years over the past 15yrs, so there may need to be 20 columns of aggregated results). I have been trying to figure out RecursiveIterator and IteratorAggregate, but I am having a difficult time finding real world examples that are generic enough to really wrap my head around these classes. Can someone give me a head start?

  • Creating generic list of instances of a class.

    - by Jim Branson
    I have several projects where I build a dictionary from a small class. I'm using C# 2008, Visual studio 2008 and .net 3.5 This is the code: namespace ReportsTest { class Junk { public static Dictionary<string, string> getPlatKeys() { Dictionary<string, string> retPlatKeys = new Dictionary<string, string>(); SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection("Data Source=JB55LTARL;Initial Catalog=HldiReports;Integrated Security=True"); SqlDataReader Dr = null; conn.Open(); SqlCommand cmnd = new SqlCommand("SELECT Make, Series, RedesignYear, SeriesName FROM CompPlatformKeys", conn); Dr = cmnd.ExecuteReader(); while (Dr.Read()) { utypPlatKeys rec = new utypPlatKeys(Dr); retPlatKeys.Add(rec.Make + rec.Series + rec.RedesignYear, rec.SeriesName); } conn = null; Dr = null; return retPlatKeys; } } public class utypPlatKeys { public string Make { get; set; } public string Series { get; set; } public string RedesignYear { get; set; } public string SeriesName { get; set; } public utypPlatKeys(SqlDataReader dr) { this.Make = dr.GetInt16(dr.GetOrdinal("Make")).ToString("D3"); this.Series = dr.GetInt16(dr.GetOrdinal("Series")).ToString("D3"); this.RedesignYear = dr.GetInt16(dr.GetOrdinal("RedesignYear")).ToString(); this.SeriesName = dr["SeriesName"].ToString(); } } } The immediate window shows all of the entries in retPlatKeys and if you hover over retPlatKeys after loading it indicates the number of elements like this: "retPlatKeys| Count = 923 which is correct. I went to create a new project using this pattern only now the immediate window says retPlatKeys is out of scope and hovering over retPlatKeys after loading I get something like retPlatKeys|0x0000000002578900. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • C# generic list <T> how to get the type of T?

    - by Daok
    Hello, Let say I have a List< T > abc = new List< T >; inside a class public class MyClass<T>//.... Later, when I initialize the class the T because MyTypeObject1. So I have a generic list of List< MyTypeObject1 >. I would like to know, what type of object the list of my class contain. Example, the list called abc contain what type of object? I cannot do abc[0].GetType(); because the list might contain 0 element. How can I do it?

  • Printing elements out of list

    - by chavanak
    Hi, I have a certain check to be done and if the check satisfies, I want the result to be printed. Below is the code: import string import codecs import sys y=sys.argv[1] list_1=[] f=1.0 x=0.05 write_in = open ("new_file.txt", "w") write_in_1 = open ("new_file_1.txt", "w") ligand_file=open( y, "r" ) #Open the receptor.txt file ligand_lines=ligand_file.readlines() # Read all the lines into the array ligand_lines=map( string.strip, ligand_lines ) #Remove the newline character from all the pdb file names ligand_file.close() ligand_file=open( "unique_count_c_from_ac.txt", "r" ) #Open the receptor.txt file ligand_lines_1=ligand_file.readlines() # Read all the lines into the array ligand_lines_1=map( string.strip, ligand_lines_1 ) #Remove the newline character from all the pdb file names ligand_file.close() s=[] for i in ligand_lines: for j in ligand_lines_1: j = j.split() if i == j[1]: print j The above code works great but when I print j, it prints like ['351', '342'] but I am expecting to get 351 342 (with one space in between). Since it is more of a python question, I have not included the input files (basically they are just numbers). Can anyone help me? Cheers, Chavanak

Am I missing something? • How do I improve my performance with this singly linked list struct within my program?

    - by Jesus
    Hey guys, I have a program that does operations of sets of strings. We have to implement functions such as addition and subtraction of two sets of strings. We are suppose to get it down to the point where performance if of O(N+M), where N,M are sets of strings. Right now, I believe my performance is at O(N*M), since I for each element of N, I go through every element of M. I'm particularly focused on getting the subtraction to the proper performance, as if I can get that down to proper performance, I believe I can carry that knowledge over to the rest of things I have to implement. The '-' operator is suppose to work like this, for example. Declare set1 to be an empty set. Declare set2 to be a set with { a b c } elements Declare set3 to be a set with ( b c d } elements set1 = set2 - set3 And now set1 is suppose to equal { a }. So basically, just remove any element from set3, that is also in set2. For the addition implementation (overloaded '+' operator), I also do the sorting of the strings (since we have to). All the functions work right now btw. So I was wondering if anyone could a) Confirm that currently I'm doing O(N*M) performance b) Give me some ideas/implementations on how to improve the performance to O(N+M) Note: I cannot add any member variables or functions to the class strSet or to the node structure. The implementation of the main program isn't very important, but I will post the code for my class definition and the implementation of the member functions: strSet2.h (Implementation of my class and struct) // Class to implement sets of strings // Implements operators for union, intersection, subtraction, // etc. for sets of strings // V1.1 15 Feb 2011 Added guard (#ifndef), deleted using namespace RCH #ifndef _STRSET_ #define _STRSET_ #include <iostream> #include <vector> #include <string> // Deleted: using namespace std; 15 Feb 2011 RCH struct node { std::string s1; node * next; }; class strSet { private: node * first; public: strSet (); // Create empty set strSet (std::string s); // Create singleton set strSet (const strSet &copy); // Copy constructor ~strSet (); // Destructor int SIZE() const; bool isMember (std::string s) const; strSet operator + (const strSet& rtSide); // Union strSet operator - (const strSet& rtSide); // Set subtraction strSet& operator = (const strSet& rtSide); // Assignment }; // End of strSet class #endif // _STRSET_ strSet2.cpp (implementation of member functions) #include <iostream> #include <vector> #include <string> #include "strset2.h" using namespace std; strSet::strSet() { first = NULL; } strSet::strSet(string s) { node *temp; temp = new node; temp->s1 = s; temp->next = NULL; first = temp; } strSet::strSet(const strSet& copy) { if(copy.first == NULL) { first = NULL; } else { node *n = copy.first; node *prev = NULL; while (n) { node *newNode = new node; newNode->s1 = n->s1; newNode->next = NULL; if (prev) { prev->next = newNode; } else { first = newNode; } prev = newNode; n = n->next; } } } strSet::~strSet() { if(first != NULL) { while(first->next != NULL) { node *nextNode = first->next; first->next = nextNode->next; delete nextNode; } } } int strSet::SIZE() const { int size = 0; node *temp = first; while(temp!=NULL) { size++; temp=temp->next; } return size; } bool strSet::isMember(string s) const { node *temp = first; while(temp != NULL) { if(temp->s1 == s) { return true; } temp = temp->next; } return false; } strSet strSet::operator + (const strSet& rtSide) { strSet newSet; newSet = *this; node *temp = rtSide.first; while(temp != NULL) { string newEle = temp->s1; if(!isMember(newEle)) { if(newSet.first==NULL) { node *newNode; newNode = new node; newNode->s1 = newEle; newNode->next = NULL; newSet.first = newNode; } else if(newSet.SIZE() == 1) { if(newEle < newSet.first->s1) { node *tempNext = newSet.first; node *newNode; newNode = new node; newNode->s1 = newEle; newNode->next = tempNext; newSet.first = newNode; } else { node *newNode; newNode = new node; newNode->s1 = newEle; newNode->next = NULL; newSet.first->next = newNode; } } else { node *prev = NULL; node *curr = newSet.first; while(curr != NULL) { if(newEle < curr->s1) { if(prev == NULL) { node *newNode; newNode = new node; newNode->s1 = newEle; newNode->next = curr; newSet.first = newNode; break; } else { node *newNode; newNode = new node; newNode->s1 = newEle; newNode->next = curr; prev->next = newNode; break; } } if(curr->next == NULL) { node *newNode; newNode = new node; newNode->s1 = newEle; newNode->next = NULL; curr->next = newNode; break; } prev = curr; curr = curr->next; } } } temp = temp->next; } return newSet; } strSet strSet::operator - (const strSet& rtSide) { strSet newSet; newSet = *this; node *temp = rtSide.first; while(temp != NULL) { string element = temp->s1; node *prev = NULL; node *curr = newSet.first; while(curr != NULL) { if( element < curr->s1 ) break; if( curr->s1 == element ) { if( prev == NULL) { node *duplicate = curr; newSet.first = newSet.first->next; delete duplicate; break; } else { node *duplicate = curr; prev->next = curr->next; delete duplicate; break; } } prev = curr; curr = curr->next; } temp = temp->next; } return newSet; } strSet& strSet::operator = (const strSet& rtSide) { if(this != &rtSide) { if(first != NULL) { while(first->next != NULL) { node *nextNode = first->next; first->next = nextNode->next; delete nextNode; } } if(rtSide.first == NULL) { first = NULL; } else { node *n = rtSide.first; node *prev = NULL; while (n) { node *newNode = new node; newNode->s1 = n->s1; newNode->next = NULL; if (prev) { prev->next = newNode; } else { first = newNode; } prev = newNode; n = n->next; } } } return *this; }

  • Simple Constructor With Initializer List? - C++

    - by Alex
    Hi all, below I've included my h file, and my problem is that the compiler is not liking my simple exception class's constructor's with initializer lists. It also is saying that string is undeclared identifier, even though I have #include <string> at the top of the h file. Do you see something I am doing wrong? For further explanation, this is one of my domain classes that I'm integrating into a wxWidgets GUI application on Windows. Thanks! Time.h #pragma once #include <string> #include <iostream> // global constants for use in calculation const int HOURS_TO_MINUTES = 60; const int MINUTES_TO_HOURS = 100; class Time { public: // default Time class constructor // initializes all vars to default values Time(void); // ComputeEndTime computes the new delivery end time // params - none // preconditions - vars will be error-free // postconditions - the correct end time will be returned as an int // returns an int int ComputeEndTime(); // GetStartTime is the getter for var startTime // params - none // returns an int int GetStartTime() { return startTime; } // GetEndTime is the getter for var endTime // params - none // returns an int int GetEndTime() { return endTime; } // GetTimeDiff is the getter for var timeDifference // params - none // returns a double double GetTimeDiff() { return timeDifference; } // SetStartTime is the setter for var startTime // params - an int // returns void void SetStartTime(int s) { startTime = s; } // SetEndTime is the setter for var endTime // params - an int // returns void void SetEndTime(int e) { endTime = e; } // SetTimeDiff is the setter for var timeDifference // params - a double // returns void void SetTimeDiff(double t) { timeDifference = t; } // destructor for Time class ~Time(void); private: int startTime; int endTime; double timeDifference; }; class HourOutOfRangeException { public: // param constructor // initializes message to passed paramater // preconditions - param will be a string // postconditions - message will be initialized // params a string // no return type HourOutOfRangeException(string pMessage) : message(pMessage) {} // GetMessage is getter for var message // params none // preconditions - none // postconditions - none // returns string string GetMessage() { return message; } // destructor ~HourOutOfRangeException() {} private: string message; }; class MinuteOutOfRangeException { public: // param constructor // initializes message to passed paramater // preconditions - param will be a string // postconditions - message will be initialized // params a string // no return type MinuteOutOfRangeException(string pMessage) : message(pMessage) {} // GetMessage is getter for var message // params none // preconditions - none // postconditions - none // returns string string GetMessage() { return message; } // destructor ~MinuteOutOfRangeException() {} private: string message; }; class PercentageOutOfRangeException { public: // param constructor // initializes message to passed paramater // preconditions - param will be a string // postconditions - message will be initialized // params a string // no return type PercentageOutOfRangeException(string pMessage) : message(pMessage) {} // GetMessage is getter for var message // params none // preconditions - none // postconditions - none // returns string string GetMessage() { return message; } // destructor ~PercentageOutOfRangeException() {} private: string message; }; class StartEndException { public: // param constructor // initializes message to passed paramater // preconditions - param will be a string // postconditions - message will be initialized // params a string // no return type StartEndException(string pMessage) : message(pMessage) {} // GetMessage is getter for var message // params none // preconditions - none // postconditions - none // returns string string GetMessage() { return message; } // destructor ~StartEndException() {} private: string message; };

  • Best MAILING LIST solution for a CONFERENCE and its 400 participants

    - by Ole Morten Amundsen
    Dear community, what would you recommend for mailling lists? The conference is non-profit, named Smidig2010 (=Agile2010 in norwegian), will have about 400-500 participants 16.-17.november. At the time of writing this, we have not opened for registration, but would like people to be able to participate, ask questions, get informed and get inspired. We've used a forum before, but forums don't seem to be a good fit for this. I would like to set up a mailinglist, It'll have to be KISS, for the users: enter your email (a input box at our site smidig2010.no) get a confirmation mail, click a link. start posting, reading through archives, answering others etc. I like the look and feel of googlegroups, but I don't like the signup/account creation overhead imposed on the user. I've heard you may combine googlegroups with mailman and stuff, but, yeah, I can't believe our own incompetence on this subject! Btw, we are mostly developers and the conference app is being written in ruby on rails. Being non-profit, we prefer free, but we take everything into consideration. Any suggestions?

Both return empty variables. What am I doing wrong? > blah = c("p30s4","p28s4") > blah [1] "p30s4" "p28s4" > foo = cat(blah) p30s4 p28s4 > foo NULL > foo = paste(cat(blah)) p30s4 p28s4 > foo character(0)
