  • Long access time for static web page on virtual machine

    My setup Windows 7 on workstation that I use at work (with domain) and home (no domain) Virtual machine (VMWare) that runs Arch Linux (I will call it just "Linux") with network interface in bridged mode. Linux serves web pages with Nginx. IP address of Linux machine is 192.168.0.16 and is added to C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts: 192.168.0.16 bridged bri IP address of Windows workstation is added to /etc/hosts: 192.168.0.10 workstation I can add more details to my setup description (I am not sure what is relevant). The question Often (but not always) it takes long time for a web browser (Firefox) to open static web page served by Linux. I am sure it is not a performance issue. To be more specific: it takes about ~20 seconds to resolve(?) the address http://bridged for a web browser. Additionally I have just installed samba service and noticed similar problem, so it is not specific to browser & http. Initial access for samba shares also takes long time.

    I've made a bootable USB flash drive to run UBUNTU. The drive works fine on MOST laptops/computers I try: It does not want to start on my (favourite) Acer Aspire 5745 (Windows 7 64 bit). The opening screen has SYSLINUX 4.06 EDD 4.06-pre1 (...) and simply sits there. I was using UBUNTU 12.04.1 64 bit until I tried booting to the Acer this morning. I've tried booting to 10.04 as well (saw this as a fix on a discussion) with the same result. I really want to use the Acer for development and do not want to wipe my Windows 7 from the hard disk. Are there any solutions/answers?

  • Running 32-bit Firefox with sun-jre in 64-bit Ubuntu

    I am trying to run juniper networks connect program to vpn into work and it only works on 32bit sun jre. All the things I have found with google failed so far. I can't use any scripts, like madscientists, as part of the authentication I need to provide some random characters from a grid. So to isolate this 32bit app install to a corner, I downloaded firefox and jre and unpack them to /opt. I run firefox with sudo as Juniper asks for root password. Here is Firefox plugins folder /ot/firefox32/plugins# ls -la total 8 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Mar 11 00:57 . drwxr-xr-x 11 root root 4096 Mar 10 23:48 .. lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 49 Mar 11 00:57 libnpjp2.so -> /opt/java/32/jdk1.6.0_31/jre/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so Firefox lists sun jre but when check it with "http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp" it either can't detect java or Firefox freezes Any Ideas? We have recently migrated all of our clients' sites to a new server running IIS7 - all the sites were originally running on a server running IIS6. Ever since the migration, lots of our clients are reporting error messages. There seems to be quite a number of issues related to sending emails and also, we have had the following error message reported by several different clients: Server Error in '/' Application. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that <machineKey> configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.Web.HttpException: Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that <machineKey> configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster. I have read elsewhere that this error can appear if a button is clicked before the whole page has finished loading. But as this error has now appeared on multiple sites and only since the server migration, it seems to me that it must be something else. I was wondering if someone could tell me if there is something specific which needs to be changed for .NET sites when sites are moved from a server running IIS6 to a server running IIS7? I don't deal with the actual servers very much so I'm afraid this is very much a grey area for me. Any help would be very much appreciated.

    We are given an array of integers where all elements are between 0-9. have to start from the 1st position and reach end in minimum no of moves such that we can from an index i move 1 position back and forward i.e i-1 and i+1 and jump to any index having the same value as index i. This is probably a stupid question but I'm using this tutorial as a starting guide and I'm stuck with where I have to set a socket with this command fastcgi-mono-server4 /applications=/:/var/www/www.domain1.xyz/ /socket=tcp:127.0.0.1:9000 What path am I supposed to replace '/var/www/www.domain1.xyz/' with? If I run the command as is I get an error saying Error creating the socket: Address already in use root@ubuntu:~# kill 9000; Please help.

    I'm trying to run in the command line a java application distributed in a jar file. It call an axis2 web service, so the jar contains a /axis2client directory with rampart.mar security module. It works fine while I run it in netbeans, but it throws an exception if I try to run it in a terminal using this command: java -jar myfile.jar The Exception: org.apache.axis2.AxisFault: invalid url: //file:/home/xxx/Desktop/myfile.jar!/axis2client/ (java.net.MalformedURLException: no protocol: //file:/home/xxx/Desktop/myfile.jar) As you can see, it's trying to use the /axis2client directory inside the jar, as when I run it in Netbeans, but It fails with a MalformedURLException. I think it's something about the protocol 'file:', probably '//file:/' must be 'file:///'. The problem is that I cannot change this call to the directory because the method that loads the /axis2client directory it's not mine, it's from another library that use my project and include all the axis2 support.   • Screen Lag/Running Slow

    I am having trouble with Ubuntu 12.10. Everything is working fine, although there is a slight problem. It seems to lag every once in a while, as in I will move the mouse, then about two seconds later the cursor will actually move on the screen. Is there any way to fix this? This is my first day using Ubuntu and I put it on a computer I built myself. I don't have much experience so a detailed answer would be very much appreciated.

  • Running ADT bundle in Eclipse Indigo

    I have installed the ADT bundle for 32 bit. Using Ubuntu 12.04 The instructions said that all I have to do is run the "Eclipse" executable inside the bundle folders. It opens an instance of Eclipse Indigo(? looks different but uses the same launcher icon) and it works fine. However, when I run Eclipse Indigo (previously installed) I don't get the option to make Android apps or Change into perspectives that looked like in ADT bundle. I don't want to add another icon to my launcher. So I'm asking if I can and how to run the ADT bundle inside the Eclipse Indigo. Or at least, make and test Android apps inside Eclipse indigo.

    I have install Sun Java 6 on an Ubuntu server and set an environment variable in the default profile as per the instructions at http://www.edugate.ie/workshop-guides/shibboleth-2-identity-provider-installation-linux-debian-or-ubuntu I then try to run an installer for a Java servlet - but when I run it as myself, it cannot create the required directory in /opt. When I run it as sudo, I am told that JAVA_HOME is not correct and it doesn't even start the installer - shouldn't this be coming from /etc/profile like it is for my normal user?

  • WPF: Running code when Window rendering is completed

    WPF is full of surprises. It makes complicated tasks easier, but at the same time overcomplicates easy  task as well. A good example of such overcomplicated things is how to run code when you’re sure that window rendering is completed. Window Loaded event does not always work, because controls might be still rendered. I had this issue working with Infragistics XamDockManager. It continued rendering widgets even when the Window Loaded event had been raised. Unfortunately there is not any “official” solution for this problem. But there is a trick. You can execute your code asynchronously using Dispatcher class.   Dispatcher.BeginInvoke(new Action(() => Trace.WriteLine("DONE!", "Rendering")), DispatcherPriority.ContextIdle, null);   This code should be added to your Window Loaded event handler. It is executed when all controls inside your window are rendered. I created a small application to prove this idea. The application has one window with a few buttons. Each button logs when it has changed its actual size. It also logs when Window Loaded event is raised, and, finally, when rendering is completed.     I can't get the following bash script to stay open after the first message is received from NC: #!/bin/bash port=3333 nc -l $port | while read msg; do notify-send Alert "$msg"; done After the first message it exits. I want it to stay open and continue monitoring for new messages from NC. I know that if I launch nc -l port without the while loop it stays open and I can chat away between the two connections even disconnect from the connected host. I am sending the message using: echo 'done' | nc IP port

  • nginx: php-fastcgi running but php files not executing

    I have recently set up a nginx server with PHP running as FastCGI process. The server is running with HTML files however PHP files are downloading instead of displaying and PHP code is not processed. This is what I have in nginx.conf: server { listen 80; server_name pubserver; location ~ \.php$ { root /usr/share/nginx/html; fastcgi_pass 127.0.0.1:9000; fastcgi_index index.php; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME /usr/share/nginx/html$fastcgi_script_name; include fastcgi_params; } } The command netstat -tulpn | grep :9000 displays the following which indicates php-fastcgi is running and listening on port 9000: tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:9000 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2663/php-cgi If it's if any importance my server is running on CentOS 6 and I installed nginx and PHP using the repositories from The Fedora Project.

    To start a WLP server as a Windows service it is simplest to make your own script based on the provided standard script located at WL_HOME\server\bin\installSvc.cmd. The standard script works fine for a plain WLS domain, but lacks some classpath and options necessary for WLP.Start by making a copy of the installSvc.cmd script and naming it something specific to your domain.Next, just under SETLOCAL you will find where WL_HOME is defined. Here you will add the definitions you would normally add in a script that later calls installSvc.cmd (as per the standard documentation). set DOMAIN_NAME=gnma_test_domainset USERDOMAIN_HOME=D:\my_test_domainset SERVER_NAME=AdminServerset WLS_USER=weblogicset WLS_PW=gnmaAdmin01set PRODUCTION_MODE=trueset MEM_ARGS=-Xms512m –Xmx512mset MW_HOME=C:\Oracle\Middleware Note: I had heard of people using this approach who had issues with the length of the command line. The standard documentation along with the example above should allow you to expand this to include managed servers should you feel the need.

    When I'm downloading League of Legends using Pando Media Booster in wine, I get an error when starting it: Connection Error Your system is currently not allowing access to our servers. Check your Firewall and/or security software sttings to allow PMB.exe to run. Reluctantly, I disabled ufw, but to no avail.     I have a number of Scheduled Tasks running on a Windows machine, which is design to run stand alone and show useful information to the office. Part of it's use is to run a screensaver that itself shows useful information. There are some scheduled tasks which need to display information to the screen, however as the screensaver is running these messages can't be seen until the screensaver it manually deactivated. How can the currently running screensaver in Windows be deactivated from command script?

    If you're trying to run the OIM design console (xlclient.sh) under OEL 6u2 and keep getting this error after entering the credentials: ... Caused by: java.util.MissingResourceException: Can't find oracle.iam.platform.utils.resources.LRB bundle... Make sure your wlfullclient.jar is in the ext folder of the designconsole folder... and yes, the design console runs perfectly well in OEL 6u2.

  • Running an old version of some software

    I don't want to mingle in any backstory, but all that needs to be known is that I have a computer with Ubuntu on it and I am trying to install Windows 8 from an ISO. I am using the guide that can be found here which is a little more than four years old. Now, I've been able to accomplish everything up to Step 2, at which point I am stuck. I have downloaded the file found on that page, which can be found here, and have attempted to use it, as directed, quote; "right click the downloaded Unetbootin file, select Properties and on the "Permissions" tab, check the "Allow executing file as program" box. Then simply double click it and it should open." But, after having set checked the specified box and double clicking the file, nothing happens. Nothing is launched and nothing changes. I've been stuck here for several hours now, having failed to find a solution via Google.
