  • Maths: Determining angle in 3D space

    - by 742
I hope this is the proper location to ask this question which is the same as this one, but expressed as pure math instead of graphically (at least I hope I translated the problem to math correctly). Considering: two vectors that are orthogonal: Up (ux, uy, uz) and Look (lx, ly, lz) a plane P which is perpendicular to Look (hence including Up) Y1 which is the projection of Y (vertical axis) along Look onto P Question: what is the value of the angle between Y1 and Up? As mathematicians will agree, this is a very basic question, but I've been scratching my head on walls now for at least two weeks without being able to visualize the solution... maybe now too old for finding solutions to school exercises. I'm looking for the scalar trigonometric solution, not a solution using a matrix. Thanks.

  • PHP / C++ space calculations for parcel packing

    - by Andrew Willis
I am working on a shopping cart project which requires a 'postage calculator' based on items that the person has in their cart. Obviously I will be storing the item's dimensions incl. weight and padding in a database and will also store the parcel (box) size and weight that the items will go in to, incl. box padding. Figuring the weight of the parcels will be easy but I was wondering how to go about figuring how to pack the box via PHP, that is, I would like the code to 'play tetris' with the items to make sure they get the best possible fit, giving accurate postage costs. Does anybody have any ideas on how best to achieve this or does anybody know of a PHP Class or function that can do this? EDIT: When I said 'best possible fit' maybe I was being optimistic! Having the script try every possible combination of package distribution within the parcel would be over the top, however I could improve the speed by writing the algoritm in C++ and running the program in PHP when the user 'checks out', the return value being an array with the parcel size and weight (which are all that are needed to calculate postage costs)

  • Android adding HTML content on a webview without space

    - by Rahul
    I am trying to add an HTML content to a web view. If the words in the HTML content are without spaces then webview keeps that particular word on the same line.I want that content to be wrapped and be on the next line.Is it possible to do that.I am attaching a sample code that can reproduce the issue. String temp="<p>WebViewallowsyoutocreateyourownwindowforviewingwebpages(orevendevelopacompletebrowser).Inthistutorial,youcreateasimpleActivitythatcanviewandnavigatewebpages.1.CreateanewprojectnamedHelloWebView.</p>"; WebView wb=new WebView(this); wb.loadDataWithBaseURL("", temp, "text/html", Encoding.UTF_8.toString(),""); setContentView(wb);

  • Interpolating in HSV color space

    - by user146780
I have an HSV color A at 3/10 of a line and HSV color B at 9/10 of a line. I'm making multistep gradients and for example if I wanted to find the color at 6/10ths of a line, how could I interpolate these HSV colors? I'm firmiliar with the technique for rgb but not HSV. I should also add that my HSV's are integers H(0,360) S(0,100) V(0,100). Thanks

  • can bound negative space be used in SVG?

    - by Anthony
If I have a map of three countries, and their borders form the outline of a sea, is their a way with SVG to give that bound area attributes and style? Another example might be three triangles which form a third triangle in the center (like the triforce). If someone wanted to make that middle empty area glow (or whatever)...

  • White space problem while using php proxy

    - by KCC
Hi, I'm using a php web proxy with my URL already encoded and keep having getting a malformed request error once I have any text after a %20. Any idea why this would be happening? The web proxy code I'm using is just a sample that I took from yahoo services: <?php // PHP Proxy example for Yahoo! Web services. // Responds to both HTTP GET and POST requests // // Author: Jason Levitt // December 7th, 2005 // // Allowed hostname (api.local and api.travel are also possible here) define ('HOSTNAME', 'http://search.yahooapis.com/'); // Get the REST call path from the AJAX application // Is it a POST or a GET? $path = ($_POST['yws_path']) ? $_POST['yws_path'] : $_GET['yws_path']; $url = HOSTNAME.$path; // Open the Curl session $session = curl_init($url); // If it's a POST, put the POST data in the body if ($_POST['yws_path']) { $postvars = ''; while ($element = current($_POST)) { $postvars .= urlencode(key($_POST)).'='.urlencode($element).'&'; next($_POST); } curl_setopt ($session, CURLOPT_POST, true); curl_setopt ($session, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $postvars); } // Don't return HTTP headers. Do return the contents of the call curl_setopt($session, CURLOPT_HEADER, false); curl_setopt($session, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true); // Make the call $xml = curl_exec($session); // The web service returns XML. Set the Content-Type appropriately //header("Content-Type: text/xml"); echo $xml; curl_close($session); ?>

  • How to add space between the images being fetched using database through php

    - by ParveenArora
I am using following code to fetch images using database with php. while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) //To excute result query { echo "<a href='http://".$row['website']."' target='_blank'><img src=\"" . $PathImage . $row['logo'] . "\" height = $FooterWidth /></a>XX; } Here I am using $row[logo] is fetching the path of images stored on the server and XX to put the spaced between the images having the same color of text XX as background, and but I want to use the proper method I know this can be done using table but I want to do it without using table. • Get specific process memory space

    - by Saul Rennison
Hi, I have a pointer (void *) to a function and I want to know which process this function belongs to. I have no idea which way to go about it, but I think it's possible by using some form of VirtualQuery trickery. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance,

  • Space bar and arrow keys on Radio buttons trigger TypeError: Error #1009

    - by Sr.Richie
I've just discovered a bug in my app, it looks like a Flash player bug, i would like to know if anyone has found a workaround or something. I've some radio buttons groups in my app. If I press the arrow keys while holding the spacebar pressed, it ends up triggering TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at fl.controls::LabelButton/drawIcon() at fl.controls::LabelButton/draw() at fl.controls::RadioButton/draw() at fl.core::UIComponent/callLaterDispatcher() If found this thread that describes my same situation. Do you think there's any workaround for this? Is it really a flash bug?

  • How can I create an fscanf format string to accept white space and comma (,) tokenization

    - by Jamie
I've got some analysis code (myprog) that sucks in data using the following: if(5 == fscanf(in, "%s%lf%f%f%f", tag, & sec, & tgt, & s1, & s2)) which works just fine. But in the situation where I've got data files that are separated by commas, I'm currently doing something like: sed 's/,/ /g' data | myprog Can I modify the format string in the fscanf() function to accept both delimitation formats?

  • wscript.shell running file with space in path with PHP

    - by ermac2014
I was trying to use wscript.shell through COM objects with php to pass some cmd commands to cURL library (the DOS version). here is what I use to perform this task: function windExec($cmd,$mode=''){ // Setup the command to run from "run" $cmdline = "cmd /C $cmd"; // set-up the output and mode if ($mode=='FG'){ $outputfile = uniqid(time()) . ".txt"; $cmdline .= " > $outputfile"; $m = true; } else $m = false; // Make a new instance of the COM object $WshShell = new COM("WScript.Shell"); // Make the command window but dont show it. $oExec = $WshShell->Run($cmdline, 0, $m); if ($outputfile){ // Read the tmp file. $retStr = file_get_contents($outputfile); // Delete the temp_file. unlink($outputfile); } else $retStr = ""; return $retStr; } now when I run this function like: windExec("\"C:/Documents and Settings/ermac/Desktop/my project/curl\" http://www.google.com/", 'FG'); curl doesn't run because there is a problem with the path. but when I remove the spaces from the path it works great. windExec("\"C:/curl\" http://www.google.com/", 'FG'); so my question is how can I escape these spaces in wscript.shell commands? is there anyway I can fix this? thanks in advance :)

  • XSD string pattern independent of leading/trailing space

    - by AndiDog
I have a XSD simple type that should match UUIDs: <simpleType name="UuidT"> <restriction base="string"> <pattern value="[a-f0-9]{8}-[a-f0-9]{4}-[a-f0-9]{4}-[a-f0-9]{4}-[a-f0-9]{12}" /> </restriction> </simpleType> It correctly matches the following content: <!-- valid --> <Uuid>12345678-1234-5678-9012-123456789012</Uuid> But it doesn't match content that contains excess whitespace: <!-- not valid --> <Uuid> 2de25a81-b117-4b2a-b910-50f0878884f7 </Uuid> Sure, I could add \s* to both sides of the regex, but isn't there a simpler solution in XSD?

  • losing leading & trailing space when translated using Google Machine Translation

    - by Sourabh
    Hi , I am using google ajax based translation API like in the below example. google.load("language", "1"); function initialize() { var text = document.getElementById("text").innerHTML; google.language.detect(text, function(result) { if (!result.error && result.language) { google.language.translate(text, result.language, "en", function(result) { var translated = document.getElementById("translation"); if (result.translation) { translated.innerHTML = result.translation; } }); } }); } google.setOnLoadCallback(initialize); When I send string like " how are you? " The transaltion what I get is like "xxx xxx xxxxxxx" . the spaces in the original string are trimmed.How do I prevent it from happening ?

  • Determine if a string contains only alphanumeric characters (or a space)

    - by dreamlax
I'm learning C++ and I am writing a function that determines whether a string contains only alphanumeric characters and spaces. I suppose I am effectively testing whether it matches the regular expression ^[[:alnum:] ]+$ but without using regular expressions. I have seen a lot of algorithms revolve around iterators, so I tried to find a solution that made use of iterators, and this is what I have: #include <algorithm> static inline bool is_not_alnum_space(char c) { return !(isalpha(c) || isdigit(c) || (c == ' ')); } bool string_is_valid(const std::string &str) { return find_if(str.begin(), str.end(), is_not_alnum_space) == str.end(); } Is there a better solution, or a “more C++” way to do this?

  • Algorithm to distribute objects in a box (like InDesign, Illustrator, Draw!)

    - by Rafael Almeida
I have a set of rectangles with their corresponding positions and a big rectangle which serves as the 'bounding box' for these rectangles. I would like to know of an algorithm that would 'distribute the free space' evenly among the rectangles. Some of you may be familiar with the Distribute Spacing option in Adobe InDesign and similar layout-oriented apps. That would be what I'm looking for. I did try looking it up, but I'm not familiar with 'graphical' algorithms terminology and trying only terms relating to 'distribute' mainly yields results about Distributed Computing. So, even the names of the algorithms or better terms to look up would be a big help. Finally, the algorithm doesn't need to be rigorously the same as InDesign's one: pretty much any algorithm that 'distributes' objects inside a region will work fine. In fact, since I'm striving for visual appeal mainly, the more suggestions the better. =D

  • Calculating terrain height in 3d-space

    - by Jonas B
Hi I'm diving into 3d programming a bit and am currently learning by writing a procedural terrain generator that generates terrain based on a heightmap. I would also want to implement some physics and my first attempt at terrain collision was by simply checking the current position vs the heightmap. This however wont work well against small objects as you'd have to calculate the height by taking the heightdifference of the nearest vertices of the object and doing this every colision check is pretty slow. Beleive me I tried googling for it but there's simply so much crap and millions of blogs posting ripped-of newbie tutorials everywhere with basically no real information on the subject, I can't find anything that explains it or even names any generally used techniques. I'm not asking for code or a complete solution, but if anyone knows a particular technique good for calculating a high-res heightmap out of the already generated and smoothed terrain I would be very happy as I could look into it further when I know what I'm looking for. Thanks

  • Convert image color space and output separate channels in OpenCV

    - by Victor May
I'm trying to reduce the runtime of a routine that converts an RGB image to a YCbCr image. My code looks like this: cv::Mat input(BGR->m_height, BGR->m_width, CV_8UC3, BGR->m_imageData); cv::Mat output(BGR->m_height, BGR->m_width, CV_8UC3); cv::cvtColor(input, output, CV_BGR2YCrCb); cv::Mat outputArr[3]; outputArr[0] = cv::Mat(BGR->m_height, BGR->m_width, CV_8UC1, Y->m_imageData); outputArr[1] = cv::Mat(BGR->m_height, BGR->m_width, CV_8UC1, Cr->m_imageData); outputArr[2] = cv::Mat(BGR->m_height, BGR->m_width, CV_8UC1, Cb->m_imageData); split(output, outputArr); But, this code is slow because there is a redundant split operation which copies the interleaved RGB image into the separate channel images. Is there a way to make the cvtColor function create an output that is already split into channel images? I tried to use constructors of the _OutputArray class that accepts a vector or array of matrices as an input, but it didn't work.
