• What language yields most rapid development of a SOAP client application

  I have written a SOAP client application. It started off as Perl but I needed it to have proper multithreaded capabilities, so I rewrote it in C++ which was a horrendous experience and the development time was many many times more than that of the Perl bot. I need to implement a new SOAP client and I was wondering what peoples opinions were about choice of language with regards to fastest development time. C++ is clearly not well suited to web services type programming so there is no way I am going to write in C++ again.

  Hi, how can i write a regular expression to validate name field in a multilingual web application, i want to validate the name field for non-English languages e.g. Spanish or German, and we need to make sure that no one enter digits or special characters. I'm using .NET. I believe we can't use expression as below for non-English language. ^[a-zA-Z]{1,20}$ Any help will be highly appreciated! • Localization with separate Language folders within Views

  I'm trying to have specific folders for each language in Views. (I know this isn't the best way of doing it but it has to be this way for now) e.g. /Views/EN/User/Edit.aspx /Views/US/User/Edit.aspx These would both use the same controller and model but have different Views for each language. In my Global.asax.cs I have routes.MapRoute( "Default", // Route name "{language}/{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { language = "en", controller = "Logon", action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional }, // Parameter defaults new { language = @"en|us" } // validation ); This works ok but always points to the same View. If I put the path to the Lanagugage folder it works return View("~/Views/EN/User/Edit.aspx"); but clearly this isn't a very nice way to do it. Is there anyway to get MVC to look in the correct language folder? Thanks and again I know this isn't the best way of doing Localization but I can't use resource files.

  I'm reading part 17.2.1 of Java language specification: http://docs.oracle.com/javase/specs/jls/se7/html/jls-17.html#jls-17.2.1 I won't copy a text, it's too long, but I would like to know, why for third step of sequence they're saying that If thread t was removed from m's wait set in step 2 due to an interrupt Thread couldn't get to step 2 it wasn't removed from wait set, because it written for the step 1: Thread t does not execute any further instructions until it has been removed from m's wait set Thus thread can't be removed from wait set in step 2 whatever it's due to, because it was already removed. Please help me understand this.

My situation is different, as I am learning Groovy coming from a dynamic background, mainly Python and Javascript. • How to reduce errors in dynamic language such as python, and improve my code quality

  I post the origin question in stackoverflow, some people suggest me to post here I've always have trouble with dynamic language like Python. Several problems: Typo error, I can use pylint to reduce some of these errors. But there's still some errors that pylint can not figure out. Object type error, I often forgot what type of the parameter is, int? str? some object? Also, forgot the type of some object in my code. Unit test might help me sometimes, but I'm not always have enough time to do UT. When I need a script to do a small job, the line of code are 100 - 200 lines, not big, but I don't have time to do the unit test, because I need to use the script as soon as possible. So, many errors appear. So, any idea on how to reduce the number of these problems?

  Given that I am a PHP programmer and open-source is a must, what would be the best and practical programming language to use for all of the following: A desktop/cross-platform application. I've read that with HTML5, creating offline apps are possible? A web application. Android and iPhone/iPad apps. I am leaning towards using Python but I am not sure if it is possible to use it alone for all of them. There are other languages that I am also looking at like Ruby, Scala and Java. • Using GWT to output XML, JSON and regular HTML

  Sorry, this is a very basic question, as we are just getting started with exploring GWT. We would like to know if it's easy and possible to get GWT to "output" XML, JSON and regular HTML. I would like to know this because ideally we would port parts of our backends over slowly, and it would be nice to drop in GWT in place of AJAX wherever we need it during the transition period. Places that we would like to be able to use: 1) We have a pure XML page that we return to our client (mobile) app and right now this is handled through Spring MVC with a nice template. What's the best replacement for this? 2) We have a regular AJAX page that makes async requests and expects replies in JSON. Can we easily replace this backend? 3) We have some regular webpages where we use templates to output them, and we would like to first switch them over in the simplest possible way, without converting them to the regular GWT UI framework.   I've recently started experimenting with natural language processing (NLP) using Stanford's CoreNLP, and I'm wondering what are some of the standard ways to store NLP parsed data for something like a text mining application? One way I thought might be interesting is to store the children as an adjacency list and make good use of recursive queries (Postgres supports this and I've found it works really well). But I assume there are probably many standard ways to do this depending on what kind of analysis is being done that have been adopted by people working in the field over the years. So what are the standard persistence strategies for NLP parsed data and how are they used?

  I am very bad at regular expressions, but I have a regular expression that is working okay, except for one issue: /\/(.*?).php/ I only need this regular expression to find things like: /this-a-valid-page.php {some words here} /anotherpage.php { some words here} http://www.google.com but do not find URLs the problem i am having is that it find this parts of full URLS i want it to avoid these all together. http://www.google.com/page.php because i have another function that does something different than the filename reg exp.

• Have you tried to switch to different kind of language and find a job in a "new language" ?

  I'm a Java programmer(J2EE/JEE), but I'm thinking about switching to C#. Does any of you have been in my position and have switched from Java to C# or C# to Java or C++ to Java, etc. ?? I'm NOT asking about switching between the same kind of languages, for example Java to Groovy/Scala/JRuby, C++ to C, VB to C#, C# to IronRuby/F#/VB.NET. Or if you company was C++, but has moved to Java(you had no choice and I'm about to make a choice). Side question: How hard was it to get a job in a "new language"?
