    I'm writing a resource manager, which is required to be fast and has small memory foot-print. For example, I have an resource class class Abc { string m_name; string m_path; string handle; void SomeFunctions(); } And so on. Now I create and List and add 5000 items to it. How much memory will it consume? One more question: Can I find items base on handle number only, which is the int part of the Tuple?

  • Replacing Resource files on new BlackBerry app version

    Hello, I am maintaining an existing BlackBerry application (implemented as a MIDlet). The application contains a number of data files that get bundled with the app as resources. Some of these data files need to be updated for a new version of the app. When the user goes to install a new version of the application (via URL of Jad file), it prompts them with the following message "Persistent data exists for the application. Would you like to retain this data? " If the user selects "Yes", it looks like the app continues to use the old resource files. This is so surprising to me. First of all, am I losing my mind or will an upgrade really not overwrite existing resource files? Is there any way I can force it to? Thanks, Jeff

  • Monitor and Terminate Python script based on system resource use

    What is the "right" or "best" way to monitor the system resources a python script is using and terminate it if the resource use exceeds some predetermined values. In my case memory usage is of concern. I am not asking how to measure the system resource use although I am open to suggestions. As a simple example, let's assume I have a function that finds prime numbers less than some large number and adds them to a list based on some condition. I don't know ahead of time how many prime numbers will satisfy the condition so I what to be sure to terminate the function if I use up to much system memory (8gb lets say). I know that there are ways to monitor the size of python objects. What I don't know is the proper way to monitor the size of the list and exit is to just include a size test in the prime function loop and exit if it exceeds 8gb or if there is an "external" way to monitor and exit.

The class library is making use of a number of resource files and a ResourceManager object to set localised strings. This works absolutely fine in most circumstances based on the user's browser settings. However there are some circumstances under which I wish to overrride the resource string in the class library from within the web application. Is this possible? if so how?

    I would like to have this piece of code in my .aspx file: <input class="ms-ButtonHeightWidth" type="button" name="BtnOK" id="Button2" value="Close" onclick="javascript:HandleOKButtonClick()" accesskey="<%$Resources:wss,okbutton_accesskey%>" /> Unfortunately, ASP.net doesn't seem to like that: An error occurred during the processing of /_layouts/MyPage/Info.aspx. Literal expressions like '<%$Resources:wss,okbutton_accesskey%>' are not allowed. Use <asp:Literal runat="server" Text="<%$Resources:wss,okbutton_accesskey%>" /> instead That doesn't work in this situation as that would mean nesting the Literal between the quotes of the accesskey attribute, which causes a "The tag contains duplicate 'ID' attributes" error. Is there a way to use a string from a resource without having to change the input to an asp:Button? I guess there has to be a way using <%=, but I don't know how I would address the resource itself?

    What is the best way to add errors to render if a child resource is really what's having issues and not the parent resource? In english what I mean is the following.. imagine the following code: @foo = Foo.new foochild = Foochild.new // break foochild somehow @foo << foochild @foo.save now when I do: format.xml { render :xml => @foo.errors } I don't get anything about how foochild broke, meaning the error message is useless to the user. How does one go about fixing this?

    I am trying to retrieve file path for a html file that is embedded in resource (resx file) in VS2008 C# project. I want to give path of this file to native webbrowser control (PIEHtml) to be able to navigate (DTM_NAVIGATE) in my application. I know I can pass the string to this control using DTM_ADDTEXTW but since html text size is so big, I dont want to pass string to the control. I need to somehow extract the file path for this html file embedded inside resource manager. I tried using but this does not give the file path of html inside assembly: private ResourceManager resManager = new ResourceManager("AppName.FolderName.FileName", System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly()); this.lbl.Text = resManager.GetString("StringInResources"); and also read Retrieving Resources in Satellite Assemblies but it did not solve my problem. Can somebody please provide info as to how to achieve this ?

I now need to dynamically reference a name in the resouce file. assume I have a resource file called Login.resx, an a number of strings: foo="hello", bar="cruel" and baz="world" normally, I will refer as: String result =Login.foo; and result=="hello"; my problem is, that at code time, I do not know if I want to refer to foo, bar or baz - I have a string that contains either "foo", "bar" or "baz".     I am customizing the ajax html editor. I am creating a class which derives from ajax html editor, and overriding FillTopToolbar() method to have limited toolbar buttons. I am trying to use this in my aspx page. <%@ Register namespace="Content" tagprefix="edit" %> <edit:MyEditor runat="server" Width="100%" Height="250px"/> I am able to see the editor in my aspx page. The problem comes when I give an ID to the control <edit:QNAEditor ID="htmlEditor" runat="server" Width="100%" Height="250px"/> I get an error in the designer file in the below line. protected global::Content.MYHTMLEditor htmlEditor; I am not able to use it in code behind. I am using VS 2010. Please help me in this regard.

The ICompletionSession itself is not a problem (e.g. get the available snippets) rather filling the snippet, handling the subsequently expected actions like tab, enter behavior, text replacement, etc. Is there any way to do that without a language service? Checking the built-in behavior in Visual Studio base editor implementation they built the MEF interfaces on top of a set of language service based objects.

    Hi, I am working on customizing the ajax html editor. I got succeded when i use VS 2008/10 selecting the "Web Site" as the template to create my asp.net application. But the same is not working when i create an asp.net application with Web Applications as the template. The problem i am facing here is, when we try to customize any editor, we will create a custome class "MyCustomeEditor", using which we will create the customized editor on our webforms. This is working fine when i am working with Web Sites. In web application, it is not even trying to identify the control, ie, is not a server tag. And in the yahoo rich text editor there is one link of image insert.. but i don't know why its not opening. on click of it. the image insert dialog is not opening. all things are working properly. Why is it not opening? and if is there anyway to only remove the image insert icon from text editor.
