Hi All,
How does jvm know what class an object is an instance of at runtime. I know we can use the getClass method to get the class name but how does the getClass method work?
Thx,
Praveen.
I have noticed that in a Maven artifact's JAR, the project.version attribute is included in two files:
META-INF/maven/${groupId}/${artifactId}/pom.properties
META-INF/maven/${groupId}/${artifactId}/pom.xml
Is there a recommended way to read this version at runtime?
Hi all,
I'm building a website at the moment, I've some html fragment that is being stored into the database, I've been reading around that inserting HTML at runtime poses security risks by using the InnerHTML property of any html tag with runat server on it.
So, my question is there any alternative way to safely display the html code and won't pose security risks and is it best to assume any textboxes on any given page is dangerous and process the text in the textboxes with Server.HtmlEncode before I store it to database?
Cheers
I have a java program that fires off an executable using the Runtime.exec() method. I'm using the variant that takes in a set of command line params as one argument, and some environment variables as another argument.
The environment variable I'm tryign to set is path, so i'm passing in "PATH=C:\some\path". This does not work. Is there some trick to this or any alternatives. I am stuck to Java 1.4 unfortunately.
I have a dialog with a number of Alt-Letter shortcuts on labels for textboxes/etc. This dialog can present data in either an editable or a read-only mode. I've received a request to hide the underlines for the shortcuts if the dialog is in read only mode. Other than editing the label text at runtime (ugh) is there any way to remove them?
If you don't know what I'm referring to by alt-Letter shortcuts see this question.
I am wondering how to change the DisplayNameAttribute on runtime, I want the displayName to be Feet instead of Meters in my property grid when I do some conversions, is that possible?
[DisplayName("Meters")]
public double Distance
{
get{return distance;}
}

i'm not interested in changing the actual icon in the EXE that shows up in windows explorer, but just the icon that shows up in the top left of the console window. Already i set the icon in the visual studio project and i'm getting it nicely in windows explorer, and also that icon is showing up in the console window, i just want to be able to change it in the console windows at runtime. I.e lets say i wanted to put an icon that shows there are new emails or something.
Is it possible to compute the hash of a class at runtime in C# (presumably through reflection)? To be clear, I don't want to compute the hashcode of an instance of said class, I want to compute the hash of the class code itself (if a function in the class changes, I'd expect a different hash code to be computed). Ideally this would only be sensitive to changes in the object code (and not just a hash of the string representation of the code itself).
Thanks in advance for your help,

How do I set a CLASSPATH variable during runtime while using IKVM?
I've been trying to do it by using:
java.lang.System.setProperty("java.class.path", "whatever");
The class I'm calling requires a configuration file in the classpath to work - and I keep getting errors that seem to indicate that it hasn't gotten its settings.
Is the way I'm trying to add variable incorrect?
Is there any cost/drawback (apart from typing too much) to adorning a class with System.Runtime.Serialization attributes (like [DataContract]) such that it can be used locally as a direct reference to a desktop Client project or as a type for a WCF service? The goal here is to write a data-tier class that can be used in both rich client (WPF) and Web scenarios. My data classes will be in a project that is separate from Client and WCF (*.svc code-behind) code. Is this a valid attempt to reuse code?
Are there any libraries that instrument code to verify that methods called on swing components are called on the event dispatch thread? It probably wouldn't be too difficult to write some basic code for doing this, but I'm sure there are edge cases and whatnot that other people have handled. I'm looking for this at runtime though, not for unit tests.
thanks,
Jeff
Hi,
I wrote a python module. Running python filename.py, only checks for syntax errors. Is there a tool, which checks for runtime errors also, like concatenating int with string etc..
Thank you

Hi,
We're getting this error once a day on a script that runs every two hours, but at different times of the day.
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-04068: existing state of packages has been discarded
ORA-04061: existing state of package body "PACKAGE.NAME" has been
invalidated
ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called:
"PACKAGE.NAME"
ORA-06512: at line 1
Could someone list what conditions can cause this error so that we could investigate?
Thanks.
UPDATE:
Would executing 'ALTER SESSION CLOSE DATABASE LINK DBLINK' invalidate a state of the package?
I need information about making installation packages for Linux. I want to make simple package, containing executable + shared libraries, and SDK package for programmers, with executables and h-files. How can this be done? Articles, books, samples - everything that can help to learn this issue.
I am writing a game editor, and have a lot of different "tool" objects. They all inherit from BTool and have the same constructor.
I would like to dynamically populate a toolbox at runtime with buttons that correspond to these tools, and when clicked have them create an instance of that tool and set it as the current tool.
Is this possible, and if so will it be better/easier than creating those buttons by hand?

Hi,
I have a ComboBox with a list of objects bound to it.
Currently i have the items templated so they show only the property Class.Name. so the ComboBox is full of Class.Name
However i am required to give the user the option to display the property Class.Description instead. If it were just that easy i would be fine, but they want the option to switch back and forth between them at runtime.
Any ideas?
hi,
i load a class using
Class.forName(klassname,false,loader)
After this i create an instance using
klass.newInstance();
It returns an object type.I want to cast it to specific type(ie.Klassnamw instance).I used normal casting but it gets hung because it is not resolved during runtime.How can i cast it?Hellp
I've copied (not installed) a system developed with Powerbuilder, from a salvaged hard drive. I want to run the application, but of course, it asks for several DLLs and stuff like that, which are not registered in my current system.
My question: is there a procedure to install a "powerbuilder runtime", so to say, in order to run the application?
I'm testing some Java code that uses an android Bundle, and am getting a runtime exception whenever I create a Bundle in the unit test. The error I'm getting is java.lang.runtimeException at android.os.Bundle when I create the Bundle. It is running with the android SDK in the run configuration.
Has anyone run into this problem before?
Thanks!
