  • Rich text format area size in SDL Tridion 2011 SP1

    I've set a schema field to height 2 and see the following for the input area in Chrome and IE. I'm expecting to have text area that's 2 lines high based on the default text size. I removed the source view option, thinking the tab might affect the size, but it still appears to be about 5 lines in height instead of 2. It seems to match 2 lines if the text is set to a large font or to a heading. I'd like to minimize the size these fields take in the content entry form as well as hint that authors should enter a smaller amount of text. How do I make this match the expected 2 lines?

  • Indexing data from multiple tables with Oracle Text

    It's well known that Oracle Text indexes perform best when all the data to be indexed is combined into a single index. The query select * from mytable where contains (title, 'dog') 0 or contains (body, 'cat') 0 will tend to perform much worse than select * from mytable where contains (text, 'dog WITHIN title OR cat WITHIN body') 0 For this reason, Oracle Text provides the MULTI_COLUMN_DATASTORE which will combine data from multiple columns into a single index. Effectively, it constructs a "virtual document" at indexing time, which might look something like: <title>the big dog</title> <body>the ginger cat smiles</body> This virtual document can be indexed using either AUTO_SECTION_GROUP, or by explicitly defining sections for title and body, allowing the query as expressed above. Note that we've used a column called "text" - this might have been a dummy column added to the table simply to allow us to create an index on it - or we could created the index on either of the "real" columns - title or body. It should be noted that MULTI_COLUMN_DATASTORE doesn't automatically handle updates to columns used by it - if you create the index on the column text, but specify that columns title and body are to be indexed, you will need to arrange triggers such that the text column is updated whenever title or body are altered. That works fine for single tables. But what if we actually want to combine data from multiple tables? In that case there are two approaches which work well: Create a real table which contains a summary of the information, and create the index on that using the MULTI_COLUMN_DATASTORE. This is simple, and effective, but it does use a lot of disk space as the information to be indexed has to be duplicated. Create our own "virtual" documents using the USER_DATASTORE. The user datastore allows us to specify a PL/SQL procedure which will be used to fetch the data to be indexed, returned in a CLOB, or occasionally in a BLOB or VARCHAR2. This PL/SQL procedure is called once for each row in the table to be indexed, and is passed the ROWID value of the current row being indexed. The actual contents of the procedure is entirely up to the owner, but it is normal to fetch data from one or more columns from database tables. In both cases, we still need to take care of updates - making sure that we have all the triggers necessary to update the indexed column (and, in case 1, the summary table) whenever any of the data to be indexed gets changed. I've written full examples of both these techniques, as SQL scripts to be run in the SQL*Plus tool. You will need to run them as a user who has CTXAPP role and CREATE DIRECTORY privilege. Part of the data to be indexed is a Microsoft Word file called "1.doc". You should create this file in Word, preferably containing the single line of text: "test document". This file can be saved anywhere, but the SQL scripts need to be changed so that the "create or replace directory" command refers to the right location.     I plan to learn Ruby on Rails and would like to code in my development box which runs on Windows XP. I have Ubuntu Server (forgot the version ;p) running as my web server with Rails installed on it. I have been considering using Vim as my text editor of choice in XP but would like to know any text editor and accompanying shell/FTP/Putty/SSH (or whatever you may call it) program that can access those files in my Ubuntu server. It is better if the shell can be called or is bundled inside the text editor. I would like to know your combinations (text editor + shell) and your experiences on it when you were able to develop your Rails projects on that combination. Cheers!

  • How to select text in Pico when I don't have a carat character?

    I am using Pico via Terminal/SSH on an iPad with a French bluetooth keyboard. There is no way to type the carat (^) key to select text (control-carat to start selection). The carat on the keyboard is used to type a circonflex accent (août), and only becomes active when one types a letter after pressing it. There is therefore no way to type control-^. When I do type ctrl-^ in Pico, the cursor moves to the previous line. Is there an alternate way to select text in Pico? I can't see how to use it without finding a solution.

    I've forgotten how to do this. In Windows, you can create a new text document "blah.txt" Inside blah, you can enter a url like http://kongregate.com Then.....??? I forget this step Then you change the file extension of the file to "blah.html" When you double click the file, it acts as a shortcut/hyperlink and takes you to the url you entered in the text file. Can someone tell me what the missing step it? There is something else I need to enter with the url, but I don't know what it is.

What I did: =SUBSTITUTE(F7,".","") to get rid of the the dot |€ 1336,0| =SUBSTITUTE(G7,"€","") to get rid of the euro symbol | 1336,0| =RIGHT(H7, LEN(H7)-1) to get rid of the blank |1336,0| =SUBSTITUTE(I7,",",".") to change the comma to dots |1336.0| and after that I copy the whole column and paste it as "unformatted text" only after these steps I get a number with which openoffice can work. Isn't there an easier way???

  • What are the ways to do synchronized streaming video and text?

    I would like to have two streams. One being traditional streaming video and another being text. I will also build an interface that allows the user to create the text portion while watching the video. The context of these videos are usually that of an individual being filmed doing a presentation and later the next day for example, a coach will make text annotations (structured data is a plus) with the result being the text stream. It seems this is possible with Silverlight (see the article in the latest MSDN). However, what other methods are there if any? If there any, please give the reasons for why you are recommending them. Thanks. Also, I would prefer something that inst a software as a service hosted solution, but, dont let that keep you from giving an answer. Also keep in mind, the user shouldn't have to do any re-encoding of the video source, the text stream should be separate with someway to synchronize a coach's comments to an arbitrary time stamp in the video.

  • MySQL Full-Text Search Across Multiple Tables - Quick/Long Solution?

    Hello all, I have been doing a bit of research on full-text searches as we realized a series of LIKE statements are terrible. My first find was MySQL full-text searches. I tried to implement this and it worked on one table, failed when I was trying to join multiple tables, and so I consulted stackoverflow's articles (look at the end for a list of the ones I've been to) I didn't see anything that clearly answered my questions. I'm trying to get this done literally in an hour or two (quick solution) but I also want to do a better long term solution. Here is my query: SELECT a.`product_id`, a.`name`, a.`slug`, a.`description`, b.`list_price`, b.`price`, c.`image`, c.`swatch`, e.`name` AS industry FROM `products` AS a LEFT JOIN `website_products` AS b ON (a.`product_id` = b.`product_id`) LEFT JOIN ( SELECT `product_id`, `image`, `swatch` FROM `product_images` WHERE `sequence` = 0) AS c ON (a.`product_id` = c.`product_id`) LEFT JOIN `brands` AS d ON (a.`brand_id` = d.`brand_id`) INNER JOIN `industries` AS e ON (a.`industry_id` = e.`industry_id`) WHERE b.`website_id` = 96 AND b.`status` = 1 AND b.`active` = 1 AND MATCH( a.`name`, a.`sku`, a.`description`, d.`name` ) AGAINST ( 'ashley sofa' ) GROUP BY a.`product_id` ORDER BY b.`sequence` LIMIT 0, 9 The error I get is: Incorrect arguments to MATCH If I remove d.name from the MATCH statement it works. I have a full-text index on that column. I saw one of the articles say to use an OR MATCH for this table, but won't that lose the effectiveness of being able to rank them together or match them properly? Other places said to use UNIONs but I don't know how to do that properly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. In the idea of a long term solution it seems that either Sphinx or Lucene is best. Now by no means and I a MySQL guru, and I heard that Lucene is a bit more complicated to setup, any recommendations or directions would be great.     Hi. I'm trying to understand the performance of an SQL Server 2008 full-text query I am constructing. The following query, using a full-text index, returns the correct results immediately: SELECT O.ID, O.Name FROM dbo.EventOccurrence O WHERE FREETEXT(O.Name, 'query') ie, all EventOccurrences with the word 'query' in their name. And the following query, using a full-text index from a different table, also returns straight away: SELECT V.ID, V.Name FROM dbo.Venue V WHERE FREETEXT(V.Name, 'query') ie. all Venues with the word 'query' in their name. But if I try to join the tables and do both full-text queries at once, it 12 seconds to return: SELECT O.ID, O.Name FROM dbo.EventOccurrence O INNER JOIN dbo.Event E ON O.EventID = E.ID INNER JOIN dbo.Venue V ON E.VenueID = V.ID WHERE FREETEXT(E.Name, 'search') OR FREETEXT(V.Name, 'search') Here is the execution plan: http://uploadpad.com/files/query.PNG From my reading, I didn't think it was even possible to make a free text query across multiple tables in this way, so I'm not sure I am understanding this correctly. Note that if I remove the WHERE clause from this last query then it returns all results within a second, so it's definitely the full-text that is causing the issue here. Can someone explain (i) why this is so slow and (ii) if this is even supported / if I am even understanding this correctly. Thanks in advance for your help.
