• Date Input in safari

  So I am using the HTML5 date input type, primary to trigger the 'wheels' in iOS. Everything is working fine in ie7-9 Chrome and FF. But Safari for OSX is very upset. It sees the need to add little 'up and down' buttons to the right hand side and generally mess up my visual stylings. My attempt to fix this, is to change the date inputs back to text inputs for desktop browsers, and leave it as date inputs for mobile: unless device.is # 'device' is a lib I use to detect mobile browsers dateFields = $ 'input[type="date"]' dateFields.attr 'type', 'text' #this fails dateFields.datepicker() dateFields.on 'keyup', (e) -> e.preventDefault() $(@).val '' Beyond altering the input type with js, I am at a loss for how to fix this little bugger. Have you had to deal with this problem?

  Hello I would like to start developing a lifeRay theme and am a little bit lost! I am a Mac user and i have installed liferay and also Xcode but i am not clear how to begin. I have downloaded the SDK for liferay but i do not understand how to install it or use it for that matter, so questions: Is Xcode an appropriate development environment to work with or is something else a little easier to get on with? Does Xcode build in the same way ANT does? How do i install the SDK? Do i just drop it into Tomcat and away i go? Yes i am very new to all this!! • Resolving Assemblies, the fuzzy way

  Here's the setup: A pure DotNET class library is loaded by an unmanaged desktop application. The Class Library acts as a plugin. This plugin loads little baby plugins of its own (all DotNET Class Libraries), and it does so by reading the dll into memory as a byte-stream, then Assembly asm = Assembly.Load(COFF_Image); The problem arises when those little baby plugins have references to other dlls. Since they are loaded via the memory rather than directly from the disk, the framework often cannot find these referenced assemblies and is thus incapable of loading them. I can add an AssemblyResolver handler to my project and I can see these referenced assemblies drop past. I have a reasonably good idea about where to find these referenced assemblies on the disk, but how can I make sure that the Assmebly I load is the correct one? In short, how do I reliably go from the System.ResolveEventArgs.Name field to a dll file path, presuming I have a list of all the folders where this dll could be hiding)?

  Hi, Using an Oracle temporary table does not generate much redo log as a normal table. However, the undo log is still generated. Thus, how can I write insert, update, or delete statement on a temporary table but Oracle will not generate undo log or generate as little as possible? Moreover, using /+append/ in the insert statement will generate little undo log. Am I correct? If not, could anyone explain me about using the hint /+append/? INSERT /*+APPEND*/ INTO table1(...) • html5 video player with simplest controls (only play and paus)

  hi guys, somehow there are really little tutorials out there for html5 video and audio playback. I simply want to embed video and audio files with customized controls. However the controls should be farely simple. I only need a play-button. If clicked, play gets replaced by pause. that's all! however i even don't know how to embed/display a video without "preload controls". Somehow if i only set (without preload controls) Firefox even don't shows anything. Chrome does show a black window. I would love to be able to use jquery to control the video play and pause button. Maybe you have some little start-approach for me! thank you very much!

• Django: Extending User Model - Inline User fields in UserProfile

  Is there a way to display User fields under a form that adds/edits a UserProfile model? I am extending default Django User model like this: class UserProfile(models.Model): user = models.OneToOneField(User, unique=True) about = models.TextField(blank=True) I know that it is possible to make a: class UserProfileInlineAdmin(admin.TabularInline): and then inline this in User ModelAdmin but I want to achieve the opposite effect, something like inverse inlining, displaying the fields of the model pointed by the OneToOne Relationship (User) in the page of the model defining the relationship (UserProfile). I don't care if it would be in the admin or in a custom view/template. I just need to know how to achieve this. I've been struggling with ModelForms and Formsets, I know the answer is somewhere there, but my little experience in Django doesn't allow me to come up with the solution yet. A little example would be really helpful!

  I just started the Plugin development for the Wordpress, but finding it little difficult to understand. Looks like everything should be hooked with the wordpess to get it run and moreover are there all the global variables that i need to use. I am making a video plugin and designed some of the forms and display page, but didn't went through the templates, is it compulsory to follow the template structure or we can design our on layout. I already wrote me a little program to find and load all html files, but now I am stuck at how to extract src, title and alt from the html < img src="/image/fluffybunny.jpg" title="Harvey the bunny" alt="a cute little fluffy bunny"/ I guess this should be done with some regex, but since the order of the tags may vary, and I need all of them, I don't really know how to parse this in an elegant way (I could do it the hard char by char way, but thats painful).

• External GUI/Helper Library for Visual C++?

  I am looking for some kind of library, either open source or bought in, that provides advanced GUI components, helper functions & classes etc. It needs to be something that integrates relatively easily into Visual Studio, and should be based around C++ and Windows. Cross platform isn't needed, and can somtimes make things a little more complex and restricted than single platform, but it is still acceptable. It also needs to be up-to-date and active. There appears to be a number of 'retired' libraries that offer little or no support, so these would not be suitable, as I'm going to need help every now and then! It also needs good documentation. I know about wxWidgets but I'm wondering what other alternatives there are? At first glance, wxWidgets doesn't strike me as what I want/need, especially in the GUI area where the visual components seem striking similar to the stock components. I want more custimization! Is there much out there that meets these requirements?

  In a recent interview I was asked what the difference between .Any() and .Length > 0 was and why I would use either when testing to see if a collection had elements. This threw me a little as it seems a little obvious but feel I may be missing something. I suggested that you use .Length when you simply need to know that a collection has elements and .Any() when you wish to filter the results. Presumably .Any() takes a performance hit too as it has to do a loop / query internally.

• What technologies are appropriate for a human workflow system?

  I'm researching various workflow architectures and it is overwhelming. The workflow system I am creating will be almost completely human-driven. Very little, if any, asynchronous activity will be taking place. One possibility is to simply use a RDBMS and have a task table, from which stored procedures would be used to enforce synchronous access to each task. This seems very simple, but I'm having a hard time coming up with reasons why I might need to involve a heavier solution. If my system has ~500 concurrent users, and there is very little in the way of automated or asynchronous tasks, should I even consider the various workflow patterns/packages out there like Mule, BPEL/SOA, Spring Work Flow, etc?

I wanna get some data from oracle server like: 1-get all the function,package,procedure and etc for showing them or drop them & etc... 2-compile my *.sql files,get the result if they have problem & etc... becuz I was beginner in oracle first of all I for solve the second problem I try to connect to sqlPlus by RUN sqlplus and trace the output(I mean,I change the output stream of shell and trace what happend and handle the assigned message to customer. NOW THIS PART SUCCEED. just a little bit I have problem with get all result because the output is asynchronous.any way... [in this case I log in to oracle Server by send argument to the sqlplus by make a process in c#] after that I try to get all function,package or procedure name,but I have problem in speed!so I try to use oracle.DataAccess.dll to connect the database. now I m so confusing about: which way is correct way to build a program that work like Oracle Developer! I do not have any experience for like these program how work. If Your answer is I must use the second way follow this part plz: I search a little bit the Golden,PLedit (Benthic software),I have little bit problem how I must create the connection string?because I thinking about how I can find the host name or port number that oracle work on them?? am I need read the TNSNames.Ora file? • d3 tree - parents having same children

  I've been transitioning my code from JIT to D3, and working with the tree layout. I've replicated http://mbostock.github.com/d3/talk/20111018/tree.html with my tree data, but I wanted to do a little more. In my case I will need to create child nodes that merge back to form a parent at a lower level, which I realize is more of a directed graph structure, but would like the tree to accomodate (i.e. notice that common id's between child nodes should merge). So basically a tree that divides like normal on the way from parents to children, but then also has the ability to bring those children nodes together to be parents (sort of an incestual relationship or something :)). Asks something similar - How to layout a non-tree hierarchy with D3 It sounds like I might be able to use hierarchical edge bundling in conjunction with the tree hierarchy layout, but I haven't seen that done. I might be a little off with that though.

• C++Math evaluating incorrectly

  I thought I can make life a little easier in data statistics by making a small program which returns the results of sampling distribution of the mean (with standard error). It does this part successfully but in an attempt to return the z-score by using the formula I found here, it returns -1#IND. My interpretation of that formula is: ((1/(sqrt(2*pi)*stdev))*pow(e, (normalpow)) where double normalpow=-0.5*((mean-popmean)*(mean-popmean)/stdev) I did a little more investigating and found that (mean-popmean)*(mean-popmean) was evaluating to 0 no matter what. How can I get around this problem of normalpow evaluating to 0.

• Connect android to database

  I am doing a school project where we need to create an android application which needs to connect to a database. the application needs to gain and store information for people's profiles on the database. But unfortunatly we are a little bit stuck at this point because there are numerous ways to link the application such as http request through apache or through the SOAP/REST protocol. But it's really hard to find good instructions or tutorials on the problem since I can't really find them. Maybe that's cause i'm probably using the wrong words on google. Unfortunately I have little relevant information. So if anyone can help me with finding relevant links to good online tutorials or howto's than those are very welcome.

I took a little bit of Java in college, am 27 years old and have been network engineering for 4 years now. I have a mortgage and student loans so going back to school would be difficult. I'm willing to put in however much hardwork is needed around my full time job to learn, but part of me feels I may need actuall schooling to get down some of the advanced concepts.   I have a AJAX client which must receive messages from server. Some messages from server not like request-response type. For example, imaging game in which players can enter. Server must send to client info about player entering. But how can server send message to client via http without request from client? Only decision that i can invent: client send request to server (getNewPlayerEnter request) with big timeout, server checks state of player set, if in set new players are, then server send info to client, if not server 'sleeps' on some time, and after 'sleeping' server checks players set again. I think my desicion a little stupid(maybe not little). How implement it right? p.s. sorry for my english

• What's the best way to set cursor/caret position?

  If I'm inserting content into a textarea that TinyMCE has co-opted, what's the best way to set the position of the cursor/caret? I'm using tinyMCE.execCommand("mceInsertRawHTML", false, content); to insert the content, and I'd like set the cursor position to the end of the content. Both document.selection and myField.selectionStart won't work for this, and I feel as though this is going to be supported by TinyMCE (through something I can't find on their forum) or it's going to be a really ugly hack. Later: It gets better; I just figured out that, when you load TinyMCE in WordPress, it loads the entire editor in an embedded iframe. Later (2): I can use document.getElementById('content_ifr').contentDocument.getSelection(); to get the selection as a string, but not a Selection Object that I can use getRangeAt(0) on. Making progress little by little.

May be it's MVVM, but i don't understand how this pattern can help me.

  hey folks, I try to realize a little game project to dive deeper into OO programming (winforms c++/cli). I already started coding but now I´d like to make a re-design. For the beginning the game should consist of four parts like game-engine, user interface, highscore and playground. • Create an seo and web accessibility analyzer

  I'm thinking of making a little web tool for analyzing the search engine optimization and web accessiblity of a whole website. First of all, this is just a private tool for now. Crawling a whole website takes up alot of resources and time. I've found out that wget is the best option for downloading the markup for a whole site. I plan on using PHP/MySQL (maybe even CodeIgniter), but I'm not quite sure if that's the right way to do it. There's always someone who recommends Python, Ruby or Perl. I only know PHP and a little bit Rails. I've also found a great HTML DOM parser class in PHP on SourceForge. But, the thing is, I need some feedback on what I should and should not do. Everything from how I should make the crawl process to what I should be checking for in regards to SEO and WCAG. So, what comes to your mind when you hear this?
