    How do I get a unique WindowRef from a Qt application that includes docked windows on the Mac? My code boils down to: int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { QApplication* qtApp = new QApplication(argc, argv); MyQMainWindow mainwin; mainwin.show(); } class MyQMainWindow : public QMainWindow { //... QDockWidget* mDock; MyQWidget* mDrawArea; QStackedWidget* mCentralStack; }; MyQMainWindow::MyQMainWindow() { mDock = new QDockWidget(tr("Docked Widget"), this); mDock->setMaximumWidth(180); //... addDockWidget(Qt::RightDockWidgetArea, mDock); mDrawArea = new MyQWidget(this); mCentralStack = new QStackedWidget(); mCentralStack->addWidget(mDrawArea); // Other widgets added to stack in production code. setCentralWidget(mCentralStack); //... } (Apologies if the above isn't syntactically correct, it's just easier to illustrate than to describe.) I added the following temporary code at the end of the above constructor: HIViewRef view1 = (HIViewRef) mDrawArea->winId(); HIViewRef view2 = (HIViewRef) mDock->winId(); WindowRef win1 = HIViewGetWindow(view1); WindowRef win2 = HIViewGetWindow(view2); My problem is that view1 and view2 are different, but win1 and win2 are the same! I tried the following equivalent on Windows: HWND win1 = (HWND)(mCentralDrawArea->winId()); HWND win2 = (HWND)(mDock1->winId()); This time win1 and win2 are different. I need the window handle to pass on to a 3rd party SDK so that it can draw into the central area only. BTW, I appreciate that the winId() method comes with lots of portability warnings, but a substantial refactor is out of the question for me. The same goes for using Carbon instead of Cocoa. Thanks.

    When we compile a dll using __stdcall inside visual studio 2008 the compiled function names inside the dll are. FunctionName Though when we compile the same dll using GCC using wx-dev-cpp GCC appends the number of paramers the function has, so the name of the function using Dependency walker looks like. FunctionName@numberOfParameters or == FunctionName@8 How do you tell GCC compiler to remove @nn from exported symbols in the dll?

  • App_GlobalResources not detected on production server

    I have a asp.net web application project, with some global resources. If i deploy to my dev machine, the resources are used correctly, however in the production server the text appears in the default language so the global resources are not being read. Any ideas? (i copied the App_GlobalResources directory to the production web dir root)

    I am writing an application for iPhone and had some questions regarding eula :- If I do not include any disclaimer/ eula in my app, then would Apple's standard EULA http://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/appstore/dev/stdeula/ automatically apply to my app ? If I include a small disclaimer inside my application (as a popup on initial screen), then would Apple's EULA still cover my app ? I tried downloading few apps on my ipad and did not see Apple's standard EULA. So, where can I actually see the EULA before downloading something ?

    Hi All, I am trying to implement ScoreNinja into one of my apps. It all seems to work, but when I submit a score it replaces the current #1 score with any that I supply, even it is lower. This means that only one score is ever displayed. Anyone got any idea what I'm doing wrong? I have e-mailed the dev but he/they haven't responded.   • What are the best tricks for learning how to -think- in Objective-C?

    Before I get flamed out for not checking previous questions, I have read most of the tutorials, and have Hillegass' book, as well as O'Reilly's book on it. I'm not asking for tips on Cocoa or what IDE to use. Where my issue lies - my 'mental muscle memory' is making it hard for me to read Objective-C code. I have no problems at all reading Java and C code and understanding what's going on. Maybe I'm getting to old to learn a new syntax, but it's a struggle shifting mental gears and looking at Objective-C code and just "getting it" (I thought it might be an isolated case, but I have other friends who are seasoned devs who have said the same thing). Are there any tricks that any non-Objective-C programmers who now know Objective-C used to help process the syntactical differences when learning it? For some reason, I get dyslexic when reading Objective-C code. Maybe I'm not meant to be able to learn it (and that's ok too). I was hoping/wondering if there might be others who have had the same experience.

  • Programming texts and reference material for my Kindle DX, creating the ultimate reference device?

    (Revisiting this topic with the release of the Kindle DX) Having owned both generation Kindle readers and now getting a Kindle DX; I'm very excited for true PDF handling on an e-ink device! An image of _Why's book on my Kindle (from my iPhone). This gives me a device capable of storing hundreds of thousands of pages that are full text search capable in the form factor of a magazine. What references (preferably PDF to preserve things such as code samples) would you recommend? Ultimately I would like reference material for every modern and applicable programming language (C, C++, Objective-C, Python, Ruby, Java, .NET (C#, Visual Basic, ASP.NET), Erlang, SQL references) as well as general programming texts and frameworks (algorithms, design patterns, theory, Rails, Django, Cocoa, ORMs, etc) and anything else that could be thought of. With so many developers here using such a wide array of languages, as a professional in your particular field, what books or references would you recommend to me for my Kindle? Creative Commons material a plus (translate that to free) as well as the material being in the PDF file format. File size is not an issue. If this turns out to be a success, I will update with a follow-up with a compiled list generated from all of the answers. Thanks for the assistance and contributing!   • Phantom horizontal scroll bars on the whole window in IE.

    I'm working on a website layout you can find at dev.movingcost.com In most browsers, everything seems fine... but I'm getting a horizontal scroll bar on the window when viewing the page in IE. I'm using a fixed width of 960px with auto margins to center the content. I've even tried using "overflow-x:hidden" on the html and body tags to no avail... any clue where the problem is?

    I have my iPhone setup on my computer at home, with my developer account and provisioning profile. I'm trying to get it setup on my work computer so I can run work apps on it as well. My work has their own dev account. I created an app ID and privisioning profile on my personal account and downloaded it on my work computer but its not letting me compile and run on my iPhone. It says valid provisiong profile not found on executable.
