  I saw the following question, and it is the exact same problem on my machine, I have tracked it to the ASUS PCE-n53 wireless card in my desktop. Does anyone know of a workaround? Windows 8.1 RTM installation crashes The adapter worked fine in windows 8... any ideas? • VPN - force a selective range of ip to run on VPN (linux)

  Preface: I know there are similar question here and there however I'm a kind of newbie on Net stuff so I need an answer on this specific scenario, hoping that can help others too as it is a common problem Let say I cannot do anything on the local switch to change the local ip range, I don't want to use any complicate trick as use VMachine to hide the local ip range but I want to use net tools to solve the issue. Scenario my local net assign me an IP of this class 192.168.1.xxx (ex. 192.168.1.116) and my VPN (VPNC) assign me IP of same class 192.168.1.xxx (ex. 192.168.1.247) Obviously I need VPN to access local address (ex. 192.168.1.100) but when I open any address of the class 192.168.1.xx the route point to my local net and not to the VPN ones. • Installing OpenLDAP on Fedora 12: ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49)

  I've been trying to set up the OpenLDAP installed by default on Fedora 12, very unsuccessfully. My ultimate goal is to use LDAP authentication for user login and Apache, using the OpenLDAP server running on the same machine. The server is running, but the error I always get when I try to use ldapsearch or ldapadd is: ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49) I've been following these tutorials, but none of them helped me: http://www.howtoforge.com/openldap_fedora7 http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-9-Manual/ref-guide/s1-ldap-quickstart.html http://www.howtoforge.com/linux_ldap_authentication http://docs.fedoraproject.org/deployment-guide/f12/en-US/html/s1-ldap-pam.html http://www.openldap.org/doc/admin24/quickstart.html First, some components were already installed, and I installed these with yum: yum install openldap-servers openldap-devel Then, I created a basic slapd.conf file in /etc/openldap: database bdb suffix "dc=sniejana-sandbox,dc=com" rootdn "cn=root,dc=sniejana-sandbox,dc=com" rootpw {SSHA}cxdz55ygPu4T3ykg7dgu+L0VRvsFSeom directory /var/lib/ldap/sniejana-sandbox.com I obtained the rootpw with this command: slappasswd -s changeme I also created the /var/lib/ldap/sniejana-sandbox.com directory and made sure the entire contents of /var/lib/ldap were owned by the ldap user. I found two ldap.conf files, one in /etc and one in /etc/openldap. I don't know which is the right one. If I understood correctly, this file is to configure the client. I put this in both: HOST localhost BASE dc=sniejana-sandbox,dc=com I then ran the server with: service slapd start It said OK. Most of the tutorials above say to use the command ldapsearch -D "cn=Manager,dc=my-domain,dc=com" -W to ensure that everything's working. When I execute this command, a password prompt appears, and after entering the password, I get the error. ldapsearch -D "cn=root,dc=sniejana-sandbox,dc=com" -W Enter LDAP password: ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49) The same thing happens when trying to use ldapadd. I tried with an encrypted and unencrypted password in slapd.conf, it doesn't change anything. Adding a -x for simple authentication doesn't change anything either. netstat -ap confirms the server is listening: tcp 0 0 *:ldap *:* LISTEN 4148/slapd tcp 0 0 *:ldap *:* LISTEN 4148/slapd ps -ef|grep slapd confirms the process is running: ldap 4148 1 0 15:22 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/slapd -h ldap:/// -u ldap Running slaptest procudes config file testing succeeded. I read somewhere that the command ldapsearch -x -b '' -s base '(objectclass=*)' namingContext can confirm the server is running. • Mysql server fails to start

  Googling since two hours, I require your assistance. I'm on a Debian virtual machine and I cloned it. The only change is the new IP adress it has. • GPO Software Uninstall Not Taking Place

  I am having some trouble with my software GPO's and can't seem to find any answers using Google. I successfully deployed software using my policy but when I delete another, the uninstallation of the software does not take place. What I did: Deployed software using a GPO, used gpupdate /force on the workstation to update, reboot, and install the software Deleted another software installation by: Right-Click All Tasks Remove 'Immediately uninstall the software from users and computers' From there, I did another gpupdate /force to try and get the GPO to refresh and uninstall the software on the workstation. This did not work. I then forced replication between my domain controllers and ran another gpupdate /force on the workstation and this did not uninstall the software. There are not error logs or indications that the uninstall is being triggered when I go into the event viewer, and I know for a fact that the policy is working in other aspects. So my questions is: Where do I look next to find the answer as to why GPO software deployments are working but un-installations are not, based off of what I have already tried? Thank you in advance. UPDATE: After using gpresult /z, there is no indication of a pending un-installation or removal of software. Under the section entitled "Software Installations", the software I am trying to uninstall is not listed. There is no other indication that the software I am trying to uninstall even exists. I also turned on RSoP logging and did (yet another) gpupdate /force to yield no blatant results. There is no indication that an uninstall event was even triggered, let alone incapability or failure. Although I am sure I marked it to uninstall in case of two events (the falling out of the scope of management, as well as the removal of the entry), I am beginning to think the entry just never triggered something that should have been triggered. UPDATE #2: After troubleshooting this (frustrating) application assignment, I have chalked it up as a fluke. I have tested with other software to make sure that the uninstall of other application assignments is actually working, so I am assuming it is something related to the package directly. There is the possibility that my problem resides in something related to what @joeqwerty linked in a comment below but because I can't go back in time, I don't think I will be able to prove it. I will probably be running a script via another GPO to guarantee the un-installation of left over package installs. For now, Evan Anderson is getting the answer because of the debugging information I was able to put to good use. Thank you to everyone that helped contribute so far!

• IntellIJ editor doesn't appear

  I updated my IntellIJ install to the latest version (11.1.4) and now the Editor window doesn't appear. Double-clicking on the file, jump-to-source, nothing happens. No error message, it just doesn't appear. If I double-click on an xml layout file the preview window works, but no Editor window. Have installed and reinstalled; went back to an earlier version and it doesn't work there either. I'm at a loss. Any ideas? Update: Editor works if I create a new project. • Hylafax / Capi4hylafax: faxgetty does not recognize number of lines

  We've got a T.30 card, 30 working lines on it, but for some reason, if I add more then 30 faxes in the queue at any time (and we're busy enough at peak times that this happens a lot), faxgetty sends faxes to non-existent lines and they appear in the error queue as a 'busy' signal on the line, which results in a lot of failed faxes because the counter of max 3 tries increases rapidly. This is using faxgetty (USE_FAXGETTY="y" in /etc/default/hylafax). I've inherited this thing, so I'm not entirely sure how faxgetty is supposed to know the number of lines. However, if I alter the script to faxmodem (USE_FAXGETTY="n" in /etc/default/hylafax and manually enabling 30 modems), this behavior goes away (new faxes 'wait' for a line to be available before trying to send, so each try / fail is a valid one on a working line, majorly descreasing the amount of failed faxes. However, when researching this almost anyone talks about faxgetty being the preferred, more robust, method, and on top of that for some unexplained reason all FIFO's disappeared for some reason after several errorless hours with faxmodem, forcing a hylafax restart using faxgetty until we figured out why this faxmodem solution failed (which is another question, and somewhat out of scope here). We will not be receiving any faxes on this machine b.t.w. As I said, I've inherited this thing, so if there are important configuration options I'm not including, please let me know.

These is the questions, I have been asking and researching to debug this issue Is it because I am using Linux for magento and Windows for Database. I have had no luck in finding a reason why this wouldn't work There must be something, I am missing I also researched the difference between linux sql databases and windows sql databases but have not come to conclusion, if installing Mysql on windows would make a difference in syntax and coding. • Losing internet connectivity on server after installing LogMeIn Hamachi (with server set as gateway node)

  Our domain controller (SBS 2003) completely lost internet and network connectivity yesterday after I remotely installed LogMeIn Hamachi on it and set it to be a gateway node- in an attempt to create a VPN link between the server and a remote site. I had to go in to the office to resolve the problem as, unsurprisingly, my own remote access to the server was also lost. I was only able to restore network connectivity by deleting a virtual network adapter Hamachi created when making the server the gateway node (called "Hamachi bridge" I believe), then rebooting the server. This is a repeatable problem. Every time I try to get this to work, it just takes the server offline. Why would this bridge affect regular TCP/IP connectivity on the NIC in this way? I have tried a "hub-and-spoke" configuration between the server and our PC at a remote site (server set as hub, remote site as spoke). This caused no such problems with general internet connectivity, and file transfer worked well between the two computers. However, there was a DNS issue with the VPN between the two sites- resulting in Active Directory not being able to communicate between them (could not log on using domain user accounts at remote site if they were not already cached on that machine). I only tried a "gateway" network as LogMeIn support told me: If you can get the Active Directory to work it would only be through a "Gateway" network type with the server acting as the Gateway Node. You would configure the gateway settings on the server in the Hamachi client on that machine to push whatever IP's/DNS settings you prefer and at that point AD would be able (all things being equal) communicate to the client node when it attaches. We do not have any ActiveDirectory configuration info as that's outside the scope of our support. I hope this helps. It would be fantastic if I could get Active Directory to work over a Hamachi VPN connection, without worrying about the server going offline in this way. Does anyone have any ideas how I should proceed, or any theories as to what is going on when I try to use the "gateway" network type? I want to try to narrow down what is going on here.

  Hello. I've been trying to set up the OpenLDAP installed by default on Fedora 12, very unsuccessfully. My ultimate goal is to use LDAP authentication for user login and Apache, using the OpenLDAP server running on the same machine. Most of the tutorials above say to use the command ldapsearch -D "cn=Manager,dc=my-domain,dc=com" -W to ensure that everything's working. When I execute this command, a password prompt appears, and after entering the password, I get the error. ldapsearch -D "cn=root,dc=sniejana-sandbox,dc=com" -W Enter LDAP password: ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49) The same thing happens when trying to use ldapadd. I tried with an encrypted and unencrypted password in slapd.conf, it doesn't change anything. Adding a -x for simple authentication doesn't change anything either. netstat -ap confirms the server is listening: tcp 0 0 *:ldap *:* LISTEN 4148/slapd tcp 0 0 *:ldap *:* LISTEN 4148/slapd ps -ef|grep slapd confirms the process is running: ldap 4148 1 0 15:22 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/slapd -h ldap:/// -u ldap Running slaptest procudes config file testing succeeded.   Hi, I made this class that turns any object into a singleton, but I know that it's not "concurrent queue safe." Could someone please explain to me how to do this, or better yet, show me the code. Thanks in advance, Rich EDIT: I had an idea for how to do it. If someone could confirm it for me I'll do it and post the code. The idea is that proxies make queues all on their own. So if I make a mutable proxy (like Apple does in key-value coding/observing) for any object that it's supposed to return, and always return the same proxy for the same object/identifier pair (using the same kind of lazy loading technique as I used to create the singletons), the proxies would automatically queue up the any messages to the singletons, and make it totally thread safe. IMHO this seems like a lot of work to do, so I don't want to do it if it's not gonna work, or if it's gonna slow my apps down to a crawl.   I like to know how to use command-line to connect to a wired network in general for Ubuntu 8.10? In my case, I connect a cable to my laptop but it doesn't work with my WICD. • Server 2008, 2 NICs, 2 fixed IPs - big delays using internet

  Hi geniuses I have an all in one Windows 2008 server, configured with AD/DHCP/DNS/RRAS - all set up with wizards and no specific tweaking. The server has 2 network adapters : one of which ("MyWAN") is plugged into our office's internet connection, the other ("MyLAN") is plugged into a local switch, which is also where all our desktops are connected. So this one server is doing everything. When first set up, MyLAN had a fixed IP of 192.168.2.1 and served the desktops with DHCP scope 192.168.2.50-99. It also told them to use 192.168.2.1 as DNS and gateway. MyWAN was setup to take its IP etc from DHCP, being handled by the building's router and ADSL modem etc. All desktops were setup to use DHCP. This all worked perfectly fine, until I recently changed MyWAN to have a static IP (I wanted to access it from home, and needed to give it a static IP to port map in the building's router). Things still work, but there is now a long delay when accessing the internet. The actual speed is as before when downloading, but there is a pause of 3-6 secs when connecting to new hosts (for example if I browse to slashdot from either a desktop or the server itself, it'll hang on connecting to slashdot.org, hang again on connecting to *.fsdn, *.google-analytics.com and all the other hosts referenced from the main page). If I ping slashdot.org from the server, I get the following : Pinging slashdot.org [216.34.181.45] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 192.168.2.1: Destination host unreachable. So perhaps it's something up with my RRAS setup - although I can't see any option during the setup wizard which I would have filled in differently.   we have recently set up a new development infrastructure and process for one of our clients. This involves the strict use of subversion as a central source code repository. The svn repositories contains a seperate branch for code on the live system (/branches/live/). The repositories are use for PHP content (mainly Wordpress Blogs), but in future they may hold other asp code as well. Bonus points for a solutions which more or less in the same way with ASP code on Windows Server 2008 R2. We have two servers: one staging system and one live system. The staging system is updated regularly with the code of the trunk. The live system is update manually. Each webroot on the servers are working copy of either the trunk (staging system) or the live branch (live system). The current workflow is: Developing on the dev's box - commit into the trunk - auto-deploy on staging system - testing on the staging system - merging into /branches/live/ - manual deployment on live system. This works for one-way changes very well, however we have some troubles on every wordpress (or plugin) update: The WP update process removes the directories and unpack the archive of the new version. This removes the svn admin area as well, which produces a lot of errors. We could switch to SVN 1.7 with a single, global admin area, but this would only solve on part of the problem. Finally, we have done the update via the WP Gui, restored the svn admin area, added/removed the files and committed the changes to the trunk. After testing, we had to do basically the same thing on the live server (except the commit, we just reverted the changes and merged the new files from the staging system to the live system). I'm currently thinking of the following: The htdocs of each website is a svn export Each website has a svn working copy beside the htdocs directory a script which "replays" the changes in the wc from htdocs after an update in WP (rsync'ing the changed files to the working copy, rsync'ing new files and svn add them and finally svn delete the deleted files). The script would have to exclude some files (like wp-config.php, uploads/temp directories, etc.). Are there better ways to do this? Unfortunaly, a complete CI server is out of scope due to time and budget limitations.

  I have 4 servers running Centos 5. All of them have two ethernet network cards. I have configured 192.168.1.x IP addresses on their eth0 card. They are all connected to the same switch using their eth0 card and they are all working. I have configured 10.72.11.x IP addresses on their eth1 card.They are all connected to the same switch - a different one from the switch used with eth0 card - using their eth1 card and they are NOT all working.   I have full admin access to the AD '08 server I'm trying to authenticate towards. The error code means invalid credentials, but I wish this was as simple as me typing in the wrong password. First of all, I have a working Apache mod_ldap configuration against the same domain. AuthType basic AuthName "MYDOMAIN" AuthBasicProvider ldap AuthLDAPUrl "ldap://10.220.100.10/OU=Companies,MYCOMPANY,DC=southit,DC=inet?sAMAccountName?sub?(objectClass=user)" AuthLDAPBindDN svc_webaccess_auth AuthLDAPBindPassword mySvcWebAccessPassword Require ldap-group CN=Service_WebAccess,OU=Groups,OU=MYCOMPANY,DC=southit,DC=inet I'm showing this because it works without the use of any Kerberos, as so many other guides out there recommend for system authentication to AD. Now I want to translate this into pam_ldap.conf for use with OpenSSH. The /etc/pam.d/common-auth part is simple. auth sufficient pam_ldap.so debug This line is processed before any other. I believe the real issue is configuring pam_ldap.conf. host 10.220.100.10 base OU=Companies,MYCOMPANY,DC=southit,DC=inet ldap_version 3 binddn svc_webaccess_auth bindpw mySvcWebAccessPassword scope sub timelimit 30 pam_filter objectclass=User nss_map_attribute uid sAMAccountName pam_login_attribute sAMAccountName pam_password ad Now I've been monitoring ldap traffic on the AD host using wireshark. I've captured a successful session from Apache's mod_ldap and compared it to a failed session from pam_ldap. The first bindrequest is a success using the svc_webaccess_auth account, the searchrequest is a success and returns a result of 1. The last bindrequest using my user is a failure and returns the above error code. Everything looks identical except for this one line in the filter for the searchrequest, here showing mod_ldap. Filter: (&(objectClass=user)(sAMAccountName=ivasta)) The second one is pam_ldap. Filter: (&(&(objectclass=User)(objectclass=User))(sAMAccountName=ivasta)) My user is named ivasta. However, the searchrequest does not return failure, it does return 1 result. I've also tried this with ldapsearch on the cli. It's the bindrequest that follows the searchrequest that fails with the above error code 52e. Here is the failure message of the final bindrequest. resultcode: invalidcredentials (49) 80090308: LdapErr: DSID-0C0903AA, comment: AcceptSecurityContext error, data 52e, v1772 This should mean invalid password but I've tried with other users and with very simple passwords. Does anyone recognize this from their own struggles with pam_ldap and AD? Edit: Worth noting is that I've also tried pam_password crypt, and pam_filter sAMAccountName=User because this worked when using ldapsearch. ldapsearch -LLL -h 10.220.100.10 -x -b "ou=Users,ou=mycompany,dc=southit,dc=inet" -v -s sub -D svc_webaccess_auth -W '(sAMAccountName=ivasta)' This works using the svc_webaccess_auth account password. This account has scan access to that OU for use with apache's mod_ldap.

• Windows doesn't get access to internet though linux easily does

  We have a very interesting problem. The network is configured in this way: internet is connected to Trendnet switch TS DHCP server at 192.168.0.1 running on Ubuntu (S) is connected to internet switch DNS is also configured on 192.168.0.1 on S D-Link Wi-Fi boosters are connected to switch TS PCs use D-Link PCI-E Wi-Fi cards to get access to network PCs have both Ubuntu and Windows 7 There are about 40 PCs. When PC is booted to Ubuntu it easily gets access to internet. But when it's booted to Windows 7, it gets a valid IP-address, but doesn't get access to internet. The address, mask, DNS, GW-address are totally the same as when it's booted under Ubuntu. The S is reacheble and pingable. Sometimes when we are lucky the PC gets access to Internet, but after rebooting it can lose it. When PC under Windows has access, it has totally the same settings as when it doesn't. What can be done? UPDATE I shared a dropbox with 2 captures of traffic. Ping.pcap is a capture of pinging 8.8.8.8. And google-browser.pcap is a capture of opening a google.com in a browser, both of them are in tcpdump formats and made by Wireshark on Win PC. The MAC of Win PC ends on b7:63 and IP is 192.168.0.130. • .htaccess ignored, SPECIFIC to EC2 - not the usual suspects

  I run 8-10 EC2 based web servers, so my experience is many hours, but is limited to CentOS; specifically Amazon's distribution. I'm installing Apache using yum, so therefore getting Amazon's default compilation of Apache. I want to implement canonical redirects from non-www (bare/root) domain to www.domain.com for SEO using mod_rewrite BUT MY .htaccess FILE IS CONSISTENTLY IGNORED. My troubleshooting steps (outlined below) lead me to believe it's something specific to Amazon's build of Apache. As expected, it created an Error log entry: [Wed Jun 19 02:24:19 2013] [alert] [client XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX] /var/www/html/.htaccess: Invalid command 'BLAH BLAH BLAH ERROR', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration Since I have root access on the server, I then tried moving my rewrite rule directly to the httpd.conf file. THIS WORKED. This tells us several important things are working. $ curl -I domain.com HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently Date: Wed, 19 Jun 2013 12:36:22 GMT Server: Apache/2.2.24 (Amazon) Location: http://www.domain.com/ Connection: close Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 HOWEVER, it is bothering me that it didn't work in the .htaccess file. • Network unreachable on Ubuntu guest after trying to set up a host only network on Virtualbox

  I have a Mac OS X host and a bunch of guests including Ubuntu and Arch Linux. I was trying to set up a host-only network at eth1 to let me ssh into the system. But now eth0 isn't working properly either. Ubuntu can no longer connect to remote hosts or browse the internet. It tells me that the network is unreachable. What's gone wrong here? But according to man ip-route the src parameter should only set the source-ip if this route is chosen. But if this route is chosen then the source-ip would be that anyway.
