  Does anyone see server-side JavaScript taking off? There are a couple of implementations out there, but it all seems to be a bit of a stretch (as in, "doing it BECAUSE WE CAN" type of attitude). I'm curious to know if anyone actually writes JavaScript for the server-side and what their experiences with it have been to date. Also, which implementation is generally seen as the most stable?

  I have very little programming knowledge; only a fair bit in Visual Basic. How do I take a value from a text field, then do some simple math such as divide the value by two, then display it back to the user in the same field? In Visual Basic you could just do txtBoxOne.text = txtBoxOne.text / 2 I understand this question is more than one question and is very basic stuff, but I need to get my head out of Visual Basic and into where I should be :)

• Stored Procedure in postgresql, multiple queries w/ agreggates.

  I'm trying to write a store procedure that can take some input parameters (obviously), run multiple queries against those, taking the output from those and doing calculations, and from those calculations and the original queries, outputting a formatted text string like: Number of Rows for max(Z) matching condition x and y of total rows matching x (x&y/x*100). To explain the max(Z) bit, this will be the username field, it won't matter which actual entry is picked, because the where clause will filter the results by user id, is there a saner way to do this?

Can someone help me understand a few points for the screenshot below? What is the root layout used here? How do I get the button bar to remain at the bottom, while the center section scrolls when it is long enough? Similar to the Ok/Cancel buttons seen here, how do I make them each 50% width (minus some margin and padding)?

  I'm using the symbol \otimes as a unary operator and it's vertical alignment doesn't seem right to me. It wants to sit a bit below the baseline: and I tried using \raisebox to fix this, e.g., \raisebox{1pt}{$\otimes$}: But \raisebox doesn't seem to be sensitive to subscripts. The operator stays the same size while everything around it shrinks: The problem, I think, is that \raisebox creates its own LR box, which doesn't inherit the settings in the surrounding math environment. Is there a version of \raisebox that "respects math"?

  I am working on a program that automates tasks in a browser like entering text, clicking, etc and right now everything is working fine when using the Web Browser tool in Visual Studio 2010. What I'd like to know is how should I approach converting all of this so I can use send requests instead of the browser?   Is there a command-line tool that could tell me if Gzip is on? What I'm looking for is something that can say the stream coming from the server is really gzipped even if the header params say Gzip:1 (which it could be falsely placing in the headers). I don't see a switch in curl, or wget, or tcpdump, or anything, but maybe I'm just missing something, or perhaps there is something else that could provide me this bit of information? Any help would be appreciated.
