  • Trying to write up a C daemon, but don't know enough C to continue

    Okay, so I want this daemon to run in the background with little to no interaction. I plan to have it work with Apache, lighttpd, etc to send the session & request information to allow C to generate a website from an object DB, saving will have to be an option so, you can start the daemon with an existing DB but will not save to it unless you login to the admin area and enable, and restart the daemon. Summary of the daemon: Load a database from file. Have a function to restart the daemon. Allow Apache, lighttpd, etc to get necessary data about the request and session. A varible to allow the database to be saved to the file, otherwise it will only be stored in ram. If it is set to save back to the file, then only have neccessary data in ram. Use sql-light for the database file. Build a webpage from some template files. $(myVar) for getting variables. ( php is quite fast, but the fact that making a few mySQL requests for every webpage is quite unefficent and I'm sure that it can be far better, so an object that we can recall data from in C would have to be faster ) P.S I am using Arch-Linux not MS-Windows, with the package group base-devel for the common developer tools such as make and makepgk. The problem is I do not want a specific paramater to do this (i.e Hide column X True/False) My report has several diffrent "departments" who are only intrested in certain columns. What would be the syntax for example to hide the "Sales" column when the "Customer Care" paramater is set?

I have hidden the row based on an expression on the row visibility, where the row is hidden if: =IIF(IIF(ReportItems!CUST_CNT2.Value = 0, 0, ReportItems!Total_Contribution5.Value / IIF(ReportItems!CUST_CNT2.Value = 0, 1, ReportItems!CUST_CNT2.Value)) > 0, True, False) So basically the column totals for the report just total up all rows including this above row that I have hidden, and I need the total to exclude this row.     I have developed windows service to process files whose records will be stored in database. When windows service finds a file it creates a thread and assigns each file to one thread. I have not used Thread Pool. I wanted to know when windows service is stopped, then how to identify how many threads are running and whether they are complete. If all the threads are executed then windows service can be stopped successfully. Otherwis windows service should wait until all threads are executed or aborted. How to implement this.

    Setup I am using Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect Professional edition 7.5: http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/ and MS PowerPoint. Problem I have various audiences for presentations requiring display in MS PowerPoint -- ranging from managers to developers, whose depth of technical knowledge and requirements for knowledge varies. Question I have tried various settings for fonts, colors, and so on, but displaying a diagram with any level of detail (even simple class diagrams). These diagrams are very difficult to fit into a PowerPoint slide and render well when using a projector or a Live Meeting. Am I on the wrong path here, or is there a better/correct way to accomplish this? Thank you for the help, -bn

    I am trying to design a RESTful filesystem-like service, and copy/move operations are causing me some trouble. First of all, uploading a new file is done using a PUT to the file's ultimate URL: PUT /folders/42/contents/<name> The question is, what if the new file already resides on the system under a different URL? Copy/move Idea 1: PUTs with custom headers. This is similar to S3's copy. A PUT that looks the same as the upload, but with a custom header: PUT /folders/42/contents/<name> X-custom-source: /files/5 This is nice because it's easy to change the file's name at copy/move time. However, S3 doesn't offer a move operation, perhaps because a move using this scheme won't be idempotent. Copy/move Idea 2: POST to parent folder. This is similar to the Google Docs copy. A POST to the destination folder with XML content describing the source file: POST /folders/42/contents ... <source>/files/5</source> <newName>foo</newName> I might be able to POST to the file's new URL to change its name..? Otherwise I'm stuck with specifying a new name in the XML content, which amplifies the RPCness of this idea. It's also not as consistent with the upload operation as idea 1. Ultimately I'm looking for something that's easy to use and understand, so in addition to criticism of the above, new ideas are certainly welcome!

  • Implementing a 'Send Feedback' feature in a Java desktop application

    I would like to implement a 'Send Feedback' option in a Java desktop application. One which will pop up a box for the user to enter a comment, then send it to us along with a screenshot of the application window. How would be the best way to communicate the data to us? Two obvious solutions spring to mind: Email - I'm thinking that the application would connect to an SMTP server set-up by us, with the username/password somehow hidden in the code. SMTP over SSL for security (not of the data being sent, but of the SMTP username/password). Web service - pretty self explanatory. Which of these would be best, or is there a better alternative?

Now, when I try to create a file using this code : FileStream os = new FileStream(String.Format(folderName, fileName), FileMode.Create); I get Access to filepath is denied. In the service Installer I set the following parameters to : this.serviceProcessInstaller1.Account = System.ServiceProcess.ServiceAccount.LocalSystem; this.serviceProcessInstaller1.Password = "Pass"; this.serviceProcessInstaller1.Username = "Administrator" I added all the possible accounts with Full permissions to the folder where I want to create the file but nothing helped.   • INDY WebService over SSL contains link with HTTP protocol instead of HTTPS in WSDL

    When creating new SOAP WebService server project using Delphi XE2 the wizard allows to set change port and HTTPS properties. Port is set to 443, HTTPS flag is checked, but when trying to connect to created server it returns incorrect transport (HTTP instead of HTTPS) in WSDL and generates HTTP links on the Service Info Page. The auto-generated page is not so important, but wrong information in WSDL file is a problem.   • JSmooth question on bundling a JRE

    I'm trying to bundle a JRE with my jar file so that I can run my application on any windows computer, regardless of if it has Java or not. The jsmooth manual says: For the option to work correctly, you have to put a JRE in a directory near the EXE (generally in a subdirectory called "jre" or whatever). Once the exe is generated, it will FIRST try to locate the JRE at the location mentioned. If it can't be found there, then it will fallback in the normal jre look-up mode (search for a jre or a jdk in the Windows registry or in commonly-used environment variables). There is no JVM-version check when using a bundled JRE, as the packager is supposed to bundle a suitable JVM for the application. Does this mean that the jre subfolder should be included in the jar, be its own separate jar, or put in the folder that comes along with the exe? If it is supposed to be in a folder with the exe, how can I specify the relative path to the jre subfolder? My directories are as follows: setup/ -jre/ -myprogram.exe I tried using ..\jre, .\jre, ..\setup\jre in the GUI screen, but none of them worked. Any ideas or leads would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much! EDIT: when I tried jre (and ..\jre I think), I got the following error message from windows when I tried running it "MyProgram.exe has stopped running." When I look at the problem details, it says APPCRASH and the fault module name is jvm.dll

MyService serviceproxy = new MyService(); When I instantiate the service proxy, I get an InvalidOperationException with the following text (translated from german): Could not find default endpoint element to the contract "ServiceName.ServiceInterface" in the service model refers client configuration section. This may be because: The application configuration file was not found or not an endpoint in the client element item is found, which corresponded to this contract. Where servicename is the name I give the service when I add it in vs2008 and ServiceInterface the interface which is automatically generated for it.

  • How can I use Amazon's API in PHP to search for books?

    I'm working on a Facebook app for book sharing, reviewing, and recommendations. I've scoured the web, searched Google using every search phrase I could think of, but I could not find any tutorials on how to access the Amazon.com API for book information. I signed up for an AWS account, but even the tutorials on their website didn't help me one bit. They're all geared toward using cloud computing for file storage and processing, but that's not what I want. I just want to access their API to search info on books. Kind of like how http://openlibrary.org/ does it, where it's a simple URL call to get information on a book (but their databases aren't nearly as populated as Amazon's). Why is it so damned hard to find the information I need on Amazon's AWS site? If anybody could help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Should have all editor features (can be done using open office api, google docs api, Microsoft office web apps api) 2. Should be shared between multiple users and can be edited by multiple users and other sync features (can be done using google docs api, Microsoft office web apps) 3. Can save the document created and edited on my own/ custom server addr. (Which api can support this???
