What I would like to happen is when the user logs in and wants to change their their name, email etc to click a menu tab.     I have always wondered how Facebook designed the friend <- user relation. I figure the user table is something like this: user_email PK user_id PK password I figure the table with user's data (sex, age etc connected via user email I would assume). How does it connect all the friends to this user? Something like this? user_id friend_id_1 friend_id_2 friend_id_3 friend_id_N Probably not. Because the number of users is unknown and will expand.

  • alternatives to accessing google reader with oauth?

    I'm really new to this oauth stuff. I want to access a user's google reader liked items feed. This blog says that oauth doesn't work (yet) with google reader. The working way seems to be to get the user's google credentials (email, password) directly, and login directly to google. This also gives me access to the rest of their services. Is there a better way, or must the user trust me with their google credentials?

I tried to use System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient, where a proprietary account and password are given to specify the credentials. But the code failed with following exception: "No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it" Is that due to Exchange Server policies to prevent spam? How can I get it to work?

In this case, it's where the user is entering email addresses and I don't want to make a trip to the database every single time. I'd much rather keep a collection in session state and 'bind' the autocomplete to that. Is it possible to set ServicePath and/or ServiceMethod to something in the codebehind as opposed to a webservice?
