Built-in XmlSiteMapProvider calls HttpContext.User.IsInRole() which uses System.Security.Principal.GenericPrincipal in case of forms authentication. Where does the current user gets its roles? Which provider loads this kind of information? I want to overload it and use custom logic.

  Hi, NOTE: I have included 3 links in here to my localhost areas but could not submit the post so I seperetaed them with a space character so it would post on stackoverflow. I currently have 2 ASP.NET MVC apps in my solution. First I run the first one by setting it to be startup project. It goes to the login page, from there once the data has been entered I execute the following code: var authTicket = new FormsAuthenticationTicket(1, login.LoginDataContract.MSISDN, DateTime.Now, DateTime.Now.AddMinutes(Convert.ToDouble("30")), true, ""); string cookieContents = FormsAuthentication.Encrypt(authTicket); var cookie = new HttpCookie(FormsAuthentication.FormsCookieName, cookieContents) { Expires = authTicket.Expiration, //Path = FormsAuthentication.FormsCookiePath //Path = "http://localhost" Domain = "" }; if (System.Web.HttpContext.Current != null) { System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Response.Cookies.Add(cookie); } As you can see I have set the Domain = "", so theoretically speaking it should work on any thing under my http: //localhost. Then I have set the persist security of the cookie to true so I can access it from any where under localhost. The cookie writes fine and I get logged in and all godd for now. BTW the url for this login page is: http //localhost/MyAccount/Login Now then I stop the solution and set the other MVC apps to be the startup. Then I run it. But once it crashes in Firefox I have a look in the Page Info and then security and Cookies and its there and its the same cookie. What am I doing wrong?

  I wrote code in android for connecting to server with ssl, I use BKS algorithm, I can create socket but when I send data to switch, I get this error javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: java.security.cert.CertPathValidatorException: Trust anchor for certification path not found. It is wonderful for me, I can connect to another server in local network with another BKS file and I can get response from that server, but with correct certificate in outside network, I cannot connect to another server, is it possible with network problem? • C# Communication between threads.

  Hi, I am using .NET 3.5 and am trying to wrap my head around a problem (not being a supreme threading expert bear with me). I have a windows service which has a very intensive process that is always running, I have put this process onto a separate thread so that the main thread of my service can handle operational tasks - i.e., service audit cycles, handling configuration changes, etc, etc. I'm starting the thread via the typical ThreadStart to a method which kicks the process off - call it workerthread. On this workerthread I am sending data to another server, as is expected the server reboots every now and again and connection is lost and I need to re-establish the connection (I am notified by the lost of connection via an event). From here I do my reconnect logic and I am back in and running, however what I easily started to notice to happen was that I was creating this worker thread over and over again each time (not what I want). Now I could kill the workerthread when I lose the connection and start a new one but this seems like a waste of resources. What I really want to do, is marshal the call (i.e., my thread start method) back to the thread that is still in memory although not doing anything. Please post any examples or docs you have that would be of use. Thanks.

What does running Word on server implies? In order to get the Word example running, do the following on the server side. Worked for me... 1. Click START--RUN and enter "dcomcnfg" 2. In the "Applications" tab, go down to "Microsoft Word Document" 3. Click PROPERTIES button 4. Go to the "Security" Tab 5. Click "Use custom access permissions", and then click EDIT 6. Click ADD and then click SHOW USERS 7. Highlight the IIS anonymous user account (usually IUSR_), click ADD 8. Go back to the "Security" tab by hitting OK 9. Click "Use custom launch permissions", and the click EDIT 10. Click ADD and then click SHOW USERS 11. Highlight the IIS anonymous user account (usually IUSR_), click ADD 12. Hit OK, and then hit APPLY. Also, you should look at the "Identity" tab in the Microsoft Word Document PROPERTIES and see that it is set to "Interactive User" ALSO, log into the machine AS the IUSR_ account, start word, and make sure to click through the dialog boxes that Word shows the first time it is run for a certain user.   Hi all, We are calling a .Net webservice from our oracle database using the sys.utl_http package and we have also tested with the sys.utl_dbws package, this works fine when there is no security on the .Net webservice. However, we would like to use sys.utl_http or sys.utl_dbws to call a .Net webservice with Kerberos- or NTLM authentication (we're currently struggling with this).   I have developed a Web Service using JAX-WS (v2.1.3 - Sun JDK 1.6.0_05) deployed on WebLogic 10.3 that works just fine when I use a Java client or SoapUI or other Web Services testing tools.   Hello, I currently develop an application in C# with framework .NET 3.5 SP1. In my app, I have satellite assemblies which are not in the same folder as the exe, and that causes me some trouble with FullTrust, as explained here. In order to solve that problem, I wish to use .NET 4.0 whose Code Access Security Policy should allow my satellite assemblies to be FullyTrusted. So my question is: is just installing the framework enough, or do I need to rebuild the solution with VS2010? Thanks

  I have a WCF service that has exposed a soap and an xml endpoint. When I use svcutil to generate the proxy code on the client side the generated configuration contains two endpoints which causes the client to fail. If I edit the web.config file and remove the second endpoint (with the custom binding) all works as expected. Is there a way I can get svcutil to generate a config that just works so that I don't need to hand edit the file everytime? • Spring <jee:remote-slsb> and JBoss AS7 - No EJB receiver available for handling

  I have got @Remote EJB on JBoss AS 7, available by name java:global/RandomEjb/DefaultRemoteRandom!pl.lechglowiak.ejbTest.RemoteRandom. Standalone client is Spring application that uses <jee:remote-slsb> bean. When trying to use that bean I get java.lang.IllegalStateException: EJBCLIENT000025: No EJB receiver available for handling [appName:, moduleName:RandomEjb, distinctName:] combination for invocation context org.jboss.ejb.client.EJBClientInvocationContext@1a89031. Here is relevant part of applicationContext.xml: <jee:remote-slsb id="remoteRandom" jndi-name="RandomEjb/DefaultRemoteRandom!pl.lechglowiak.ejbTest.RemoteRandom" business-interface="pl.lechglowiak.ejbTest.RemoteRandom" <jee:environment> java.naming.factory.initial=org.jboss.naming.remote.client.InitialContextFactory java.naming.provider.url=remote://localhost:4447 jboss.naming.client.ejb.context=true java.naming.security.principal=testuser java.naming.security.credentials=testpassword </jee:environment> </jee:remote-slsb> <bean id="remoteClient" class="pl.lechglowiak.RemoteClient"> <property name="remote" ref="remoteRandom" /> </bean> RemoteClient.java public class RemoteClient { private RemoteRandom random; public void setRemote(RemoteRandom random){ this.random = random; } public Integer callRandom(){ try { return random.getRandom(100); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); return null; } } } My jboss client jar: org.jboss.as jboss-as-ejb-client-bom 7.1.2.Final pom pl.lechglowiak.ejbTest.RemoteRandom is available for client application classpath. jndi.properties contains exact properties as in <jee:environment> of <jee:remote-slsb>. Such code runs without exception: Context ctx2 = new InitialContext(); RemoteRandom rr = (RemoteRandom) ctx2.lookup("RandomEjb/DefaultRemoteRandom!pl.lechglowiak.ejbTest.RemoteRandom"); System.out.println(rr.getRandom(10000)); But this: ApplicationContext ctx = new ClassPathXmlApplicationContext("applicationContext.xml"); RemoteClient client = ctx.getBean("remoteClient", RemoteClient.class); System.out.println(client.callRandom()); ends with exception: java.lang.IllegalStateException: EJBCLIENT000025: No EJB receiver available for handling [appName:, moduleName:RandomEjb, distinctName:] combination for invocation context org.jboss.ejb.client.EJBClientInvocationContext@1a89031. jboss.naming.client.ejb.context=true is set. Do you have any idea what am I setting wrong in <jee:remote-slsb>?

• Asp.net MVC and MOSS 2010 integration

  Just a sidenote: I'm not sure whether I should post this to serverfault as well, because some MOSS admin may have some info for me as well? A bit of explanation first (without Asp.net MVC) Is it possible to integrate the two? Is it possible to write an application that would share at least credential information with MOSS? I have to write a MOSS application that has to do with these technologies: MOSS 2010 Personal client certificates authentication (most probably on USB keys) Active Directory Federation Services Separate SQL DB that would serve application specific data (separate as not being part of MOSS DB) How should it work? Users should authenticate using personal certificates into MOSS 2010 There would be a certain part of MOSS that would be related to my custom application This application should only authorize certain users via AD FS - I guess these users should have a certain security claim attached to them This application should manage users (that have access to this app) with additional (app specific) security claims related to this application (as additional application level authorization rights for individual application parts) This application should use custom SQL 2008 DB heavily with its own data This application should have the possibility to integrate with external systems as well (Exchange for instance to inject calendar entries, ERP systems etc) This application should be able to export its data (from its DB) to files. I don't know if it's possible, but it would be nice if the app could add these files to MOSS and attach authorization info to them so only users with sufficient rights would be able to view/open these files. Why Asp.net MVC then? I'm very well versed in Asp.net MVC (also with the latest version) and I haven't done anything on Sharepoint since version 2003 (which doesn't do me no good or prepare me for the latest version in any way shape or form). This project will most probably be a death march project so I would rather write my application as a UI rich Asp.net MVC application and somehow integrate it into MOSS. But not only via a link, because I would like to at least share credentials, so users wouldn't need to re-login when accessing my app. Using Asp.net MVC I would at least have the possibility to finish on time or be less death marching. Is this at all possible? Questions Is it possible to integrate Asp.net MVC into MOSS as described above? If integration is not possible, would it be possible to create a completely MOSS based application that would work as described? Which parts of MOSS 2010 should I use to accomplish what I need?

What I've found was the namespace System.Security.Cryptography.X509Certificates, but it only handles existing certificates, not certificate requests:/ Can anyone give me an hint about it? • Convincing Management to use WCF

  Hi All, I asked another question, stating that the I am unable to use WCF in a new Web Service project and have come to see that it seems to be the technology to use in regards to extensibility and security. My question is a simple one: How can I persuade management (and developers for that matter) to move over to using WCF as opposed to other web service technologies (ASMX/CFC)? They won't be concerned with a comparison between the types (especially with regard to ASMX), simply what there is to gain. Thanks for your time, Kyle

• SSLsample in NSS

  Since the latest version of NSS does not provide the SSLSample program, I copied the folder SSLSample from the older version of NSS (3.9, 3.12) to the /security/nss/cmd folder inside nss-3.12.4 . When I run make nss_build_all in my 3.12.4, the other programs generated its own binary but not my SSLSample folder. I would like to know why?

  What would happen if an ordinary .exe file is copied to explorer.exe? Will it be automatically running as long as explorer.exe is running? This seems like a major security whole...is it even possible? Does anti-virus protect against that sort of thing?

This works fine when there is no security on the .NET web service. However, we would like to use sys.utl_http or sys.utl_dbws to call a .NET web service with Kerberos or NTLM authentication. We're currently struggling with this. Any hints on how to solve it?

  Hello, I have a working example of sending message to server and server receiving it via qpid messaging. These examples are downloaded from https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/qpid/trunk/qpid/java/client/example (someone may need it also). I've done Jboss messaging using spring before, but I can't manage to do the same with qpid.
