• Unable to establish the connection to the file in BlackBerry

  I have tried the example code on SO to read the contents from the file in the resource directory in BlackBerry. But I am having an issue with the FileConnection. I get the following error: File system error (1003) I tried the example from here. • autoreload webpage on new release

  I have a website in PHP which is completely ajax-based. There is an index.php, but a part from it, all the other page are never rendered directly into the browser. Instead, all the post and get request are done tfrom javascript through ajax. So basically, if you go to /contact.php you will not see anything. All the pages are rendered inside index.php. So, there are a lot of people that use this page that are not very good in using the web. Asking them to "refresh" the page makes them to wonder what we are talking about. Unfortunately. The biggest issue happens when we do a new release. Especially the javascript code (but not only) can be the old one in a client's webpage as they maybe havent refreshed the page for some week (lol). S I do an svn-update and the new code is on the server. I just refresh my page and see the new features. However, the poor guys that dont really know how to make a refresh, will not see anything. I have added a big button on the page with the text "refresh". Which makes a location.reload. Hopefully this can help a few of them. But my question is: how to "force" the browser to reload itself when a new svn-version has been released? Hopefully in a simple way, without needing some node.js, javascript timer or stuff like that. It is also quite important to not refresh the page when the user is doing something with the page (maybe writing a mail in the UI, and then suddenly the page get refreshed: not so good).

• jQuery Toggle switch images

  Hi Guys, I have a situation where I am not understanding jQuery's Toggle. I have two buttons, both of them open the same content and when you click on either button the content should open or close and the attribute changes the button from open to closed. (So both buttons do the same function). Only thing is, when I click on the top button and it opens my content and then click on the lower button to close it, the image attributes are switched incorrectly. • How can I set/store cookie when anchor clicked

  I am trying to use Cookie so that a default style OR a specific style is applied in reference to the anchor tag clicked, even when the browser is closed/reopen. So if the user clicked the second link, close or refresh the browser and reopen, than the style should still be active, if it is their first time the default should apply. • How can I write output to a new external file with Perl?

  Maybe I am searching with the wrong keywords or this is a very basic question but I cannot find the answer to my question. I am having trouble writing the result of my whois command to a new external file. My code is below. It takes $readfilename, which is a file name which has a list of IPs, and $writefilename, which is the destination file for output. Both are user-specified. For my tests, $readfilename contains three IP addresses on three separate lines so there should be three separate whois results in the user specified output file. if ($readfilename) { open (my $inputfile, "<", $readfilename) || die "\n Cannot open the specified file. • JQuery Control Update Not Happening

  Hi, I've got a script that disables a button input control, empties a table body and then (after an AJAX call) re-populates it. It all works fine but sometimes there are a lot of rows in the table so the browser (IE) takes a while to empty and refill it. The strange thing is, while the rows are being emptied, the button still appears to be enabled, however if I put an alert between the button being disabled and the tbody being emptied, the button works properly, disabling visibly before the the alert comes up. Is there any way I can get the button to update before the resource consuming table emptying process/command commences? As I mentioned, normally this is really quick and isn't a problem, but if there are, say, 1500 rows in the table it takes a while to clear down but the 'Search' button doesn't update on the screen, however if I put an alert after the .attr('disabled' line the button visibly updates when the alert box is up, but without that the button doesn't visibly disable until after the table clears (which is about 3 or 4 seconds with 1500 rows), it just stays in it's down/"mid-press" state. I don't have a problem with the time the browser is taking to render the table changes, that's just life, but I need the users to see visible feedback so they know the search has started

Apparently what happens is, VS goes to execute the Update() method and somehow figures out something gone wrong and goes into "catch" and deletes the file, which is wrong, because I want my catch to work when there is a true exception not when I debug a program and force to stop it.

• Tell me again why we need both .NET and Windows? Why can't Windows morph into the CLR?

  The same way DOS morphed into Windows? We seem to have ended up supporting and developing for three platforms from Microsoft, and I'm not sure where the boundaries are supposed to lie. Why can't the benefits of the CLR (such as type safety, memory protection, etc.) be built into Windows itself? Or into the browser? Why an entirely other virtual machine? (How may levels of virtual machine indirection are we dealing with now? We just added Silverlight - and before that Flash - running inside the Browser running inside maybe a VM install...) I can see raw Windows for servers, but why couldn't there be a CLR for workstations talking directly to the hardware (or at least not the whole Windows legacy ball and chain)? (ooppp - I've got two questions here. Let's make this - why can't .net be built into Windows? I understand about backward compatibility - but the safety of what's in .NET could be at least optionally in Windows itself, couldn't it? It would just be yet another of many sets of APIs?) Factoid - I recall that one of the competitor architectures selling against MS-DOS on the IBM PC was UCSD-pascal runtime - a VM.

  Situation: if we add two identic line items into a cart, we update line item quantity instead of adding a duplicate.In browser everything works fine but in unit testing section something fails because of an empty cycle in code. Which I wanted to use to update all prices. Why? Is that a unit test engine bug?   I am trying to close a UIView thats in one method from another method by calling it, The UIView closes fine but not untill after all of the processes are finished in the current method. I would like to know if there is a way to force the first thing to happen first (i.e. close UIviews) then continue the current method? • PHP function to handle most database queries has a problem with results. I am getting the right numb

  Here is my little function. It does not handle the results correctly. I do get all the rows that I want, but all the rows of the $results array contain the exact same values. So i make 2 arrays, a temporary array to hold the values after each fetch, and another array to hold all the temporary arrays. First i take the temp array and map its keys to the column names. Then i give it to bind_result, and call fetch() and use it like I would any other result value. • jquery $.ajax load in UI dialog() problem

  i have a working bing Image search api with jsonp datatype. It's working with no problems. When i load the image search script in a Jquery UI dialog, it display properly and i'm able to search and see the results in the dialog() box. But if i close the dialog() and open it again, now if i search no results show. Looking at console.log, i do confirm the jason data is recieved, but for some reason it's not appending to the result div, so i see no result on the screen. This onyl happens if i close the dialog and open it again. If i refresh refresh the page and open the dialog again then search results are displayed. • Is my approach for persistent login secure ?

  I'm very much stuck with the reasonable secure approach to implement 'Remember me' feature in a login system. Here's my approach so far, Please advice me if it makes sense and is reasonably secure: Logging: User provides email and password to login (both are valid).. Get the user_id from DB Table Users by comparing provided email Generate 2 random numbers hashed strings: key1, key2 and store in cookies. In DB Table COOKIES, store key1, key2 along with user_id. To Check login: If key1 and key2 both cookies exist, validate both keys in DB Table COOKIES (if a row with key1, and key2 exists, user is logged). if cookie is valid, regenrate key2 and update it in cookie and also database. Why re-genrating key: Because if someone steals cookie and login with that cookie, it will be working only until the real user login. When the real user will login, the stolen cookie will become invalid. Right? Why do I need 2 keys: Because if i store user_id and single key in cookie and database, and the user want to remember the password on another browser, or computer, then the new key will be updated in database, so the user's cookie in earlier browser/PC will become invalid. User wont be able to remember password on more than one place. Thanks for your opinions.

  i using below code to get a picture from URL: URL url=new URL("http://www.google.com/images/logos/ps_logo2.png"); InputStream in=url.openStream(); ByteArrayOutputStream tmpOut = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); byte[] buf = new byte[512]; int len; while (true) { len = in.read(buf); if (len == -1) { break; } tmpOut.write(buf, 0, len); } tmpOut.close(); byte[] picture=tmpOut.toByteArray(); System.out.println(picture.length); this code is okay,but my internet connect is very very bad, so ,I maybe get a broken picture like this: How can I ensure the picture file is complete ? • How to identify end of InputStream in java

  I am trying to read bytes from server using Socket program, ie I am using InputStream to read the bytes. If I pass the length size I am able to read the bytes, but I am not sure what may be the length. So I am not able initialize the byte array. Also I tried while (in.read() !=-1), I observered it loop works fine when the data is sent , but the next line after the loop is not executable , I feel its still looking for the data in the stream but there is no ata. If I close the Server connection , then my client will execute the next line followed to the loop. I am not sure where I am going wrong? this.in = socket.getInputStream(); int dataInt = this.in.read(); while(dataInt != -1){ System.out.print(","+i+"--"+dataInt); i++; dataInt = this.in.read(); } System.out.print("End Of loop"); I get the output as:- ,1--0,2--62,3--96,4--131,5--142,6--1,7--133,8--2,9--16,10--48,11--56,12--1,13--0,14--14,15--128,16--0,17--0,18--0,19--48,20--0,21--0,22--0,23--0,24--0,25--1,26--0,27--0,28--38,29--114,30--23,31--20,32--70,33--3,34--20,35--1,36--133,37--48,38--51,39--49,40--52,41--49,42--55,43--49,44--52,45--52,46--54,47--55,48--50,49--51,50--52,51--48,52--53,53--56,54--51,55--48,56--48,57--57,58--57,59--57,60--57,61--57,62--57,63--57,64--56 But no output for :- End Of loop Please guide how shall I close the loop? • How to display inline several <li> with 100% width?

  Hi, I have the following html: <div id="container"> <ul> <li>element 1</li> <li>element 2</li> </ul> </div> applied with a css as follows: #container { width:100%; overflow:auto; } #container ul { width: 100%; } #container li { width: 100%; } So now I would like to have an indeterminate number of elements (<li>) all with 100% width (so they can adjust accordingly to the browser's window size) but all side by side, displaying the horizontal scroll bar in the container. I have tried putting "display:inline" on ul's css, and "float:left" on li's css, but with no success. Any suggestions? Also, try to consider I'm trying to make this as "cross-browser compatible" as possible. Thanks in advanced;
