• Intermittent 403 errors when using allow to limit access to url with both explicit IP and SetEnvIf

  We are running Apache 2.2.22 on a Solaris 10 environment. We have a specific URL that we want to limit access to by IP. We recently implemented a CDN and now have the added complexity that the IP's that a request are shown to be coming from are actually the CDN servers and not the ultimate end user. In the case that we need to back the CDN out, we want to handle the case where either the CDN is forwarding the request, or the ultimate client is sending the request directly. The CDN sends the end user IP address in an HTTP header (for this scenario that header is called "User-IP"). Here is the configuration that we have put in place: SetEnvIf User-IP (\d+\.\d+\.\d+\.\d+) REAL_USER_IP=$1 SetEnvIf REAL_USER_IP "(10\.1\.2\.3|192\.168\..+)" access_allowed=1 <Location /uri/> Order deny,allow Allow from 10.1.2.3 192.168. allow from env=access_allowed Deny from all </Location> This seems to work fine for a time, however at some point the web server starts serving 403 errors to the end user - so for some reason it is restricting access. The odd thing is that a bounce of the web server seems to resolve the issue, but only for a time - then the behavior comes back. It might be worthwhile to note as well that this URL is delegated to a JBoss server via mod_jk. The denial of access is, however; confirmed to be at the Apache layer and the issue only seems to happen after the server has been running for some time.

• Nginx as reverse proxy: how to properly configure gateway timeout?

  We have configured Nginx as a reverse proxy to an Apache server farm, but I'm running into trouble with the gateway timeouts. Our Goal in human readable form is: "Deliver a request within one second, but if it really takes longer, deliver anyway", which for me translates into "Try the first Apache server in upstream for max 500ms. If we get a timeout / an error, try the next one and so on until we finally succeed." Now our relevant configuration is this: location @proxy { proxy_pass http://apache$request_uri; proxy_connect_timeout 1s; proxy_read_timeout 2s; } [...] upstream apache { server 127.0.0.1:8001 max_fails=1 fail_timeout=10s; server 10.1.x.x:8001 max_fails=1 fail_timeout=10s backup; server 10.1.x.x:8001 max_fails=1 fail_timeout=10s backup; server 10.1.x.x:8001 max_fails=1 fail_timeout=10s backup; } The problem here is that nginx seems to misunderstand this as "Try to get a response from the whole upstream cluster within one second and deliver a 50X error if we don't - without any limit on how long to try any upstream server", which is obviously not what we had in mind. Is there any way to get nginx to do what we want?

• Windows 7 Upgrade Fail from Home Premium to Ultimate Professional

  I had a hard drive crash, which meant I had to install a new HDD in my Dell 64-Bit XPS 1350 (lovely computer). I had previously been running Windows 7 Ultimate Professional which I had upgraded from the OEM Win 7 Home Premium by means of a disk I purchased from my university. Using the Recovery disk from Dell I installed Windows 7 Home Premium successfully on the new hard drive, but when I have tried to upgrade via my disk to Ultimate it installs the whole thing, says its complete, but when I reboot, tells me: "This version of Windows could not be installed. Your previous version of Windows has been restored, and you can continue to use it." I've installed the drivers from Dell's driver disk, but still to no avail. I've also used Driver Robot to update all my drivers. I can't find a .dmp file anywhere under C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources but I did find this file under C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther. setupact.log https://www.dropbox.com/s/yzy7fhkxlzc235y/setupact.log If anyone could please advise me what I need to do to fix Windows so it will upgrade properly, I would greatly appreciate it.

• Is there any way to combine transparency and "ajax usability" with HTML templates

  I'm using HTML_Template_Flexy in PHP but the question should apply to any language or template library. I am outputting a list of relatively complex objects. In the beginning I just iterated over a list of the objects and called a toHtml method on them. When I was about to have my layout designer look over the template I noticed that it was too opaque and that he would have ended up looking through and/or editing many additional php source files to see what really gets generated by the toHtml method. So I extracted most of the HTML strings in the php classes up to the template which made for one clear file where you can see the whole page structure at once. However this causes problems when you want to add an object to the list using javascript. Then I have to keep the old toHtml method and maintain both the main template and the html strings at the same time, so I can output just the HTML for a new object that should be added to the page. So I'm back to the idea of using smaller templates for the objects that make up the page, but I was wondering if there was some easy way of having my cake and eating it too by having one template that shows the whole page but also the mini-templates for smaller objects on the page. Edit: Yes, updating the page is not a problem at all. My concern is with having both maintainability and transparency of the template files. If I have one single template for the whole page, then I must maintain mini-templates of the objects that are shown on the page. If I just have the mini-templates and include them from the higher-level template it becomes more difficult to look at the top-level html and imagine what the end result will look like.

• building a gl3 app under cygwin

  i've got a small opengl 3.2 app that i've been developing on linux using the standard gnu tools (gmake/gcc). the code seems pretty portable--i had no problems running it on osx until i started using gl3 features that the mac mini gl drivers don't seem to support. i've got a bootcamp partition with windows xp on the same mini, and i'd like to run my app there if possible. the windows drivers definitely support gl 3.2, but i'm having trouble linking. this seems like a really common issue, but i haven't found any answers online that address using opengl 1.2 under cygwin. i'm using glew-1.5.5 and linking like so: g++ -o glToy *.o -L/cygdrive/c/Program\ Files/glew-1.5.5/lib -lglew32 -lglut32 -lglu32 -lopengl32 but i get a whole lot of this sort of output: Program.o:/home/Jacob/glToy/Program.cpp:134: undefined reference to `__imp____glewUseProgram' Program.o:/home/Jacob/glToy/Program.cpp:235: undefined reference to `__imp____glewActiveTexture' Program.o:/home/Jacob/glToy/Program.cpp:73: undefined reference to `__imp____glewGetShaderiv' ... any ideas what i'm doing wrong? or perhaps this isn't a workable setup? other ideas for getting this going on the mac mini (2009 version)? thanks!

Say i have the following text : "This amazing new wearable audio solution features a working speaker embedded into the front of the shirt and can play music or sound effects appropriate for any situation. It's just like starring in your own movie" and the words : "solution" , "movie". My problem is that image launched in colorbox stays as the first one launched and should reflect the image shown as img#bigpic - the link to the image does appear to be updating correctly.   Using PHP's Image and GD functions you can use the following method to finally output the php image imagepng($image); Sometimes, for whatever reason the image may not be displayed typically the error is not with the image but with the actual php functions not executing successfully. However this causes a blank image to be returned which doesn't help me.   I attempted to install the perl module Net::Twitter::Role::API::Lists using WHM and after doing so my whole site came down. It seems that something that was updated with the install isn't functioning correctly and since our website it written in Perl none of our site scripts will run. In almost 8 years of working with Perl I've never had any issues arise after installing a perl module so I have no idea how to even start troubleshooting.   I simply want flowing text on the left, and a help box on the right. The help box should extend all the way to the bottom. If you take out the outer StackPanel below it works great. But for reasons of layout (I'm inserting UserControls dynamically) I need to have the wrapping StackPanel.   Hello - I am wondering if anyone has attempted the following or has an idea as to how to do it. I have a WPFToolkit DataGrid which is bound to an ObservableCollection of items. As such, the DataGrid is shown with as many rows in the ObservableCollection, and as many columns as I have defined in for the DataGrid. That all is good. What I now need is to provide another view of the same data, only, instead, the DataGrid is shown with as many cells in the ObservableCollection. So let's say, my ObservableCollection has 100 items in it. The original scenario showed the DataGrid with 100 rows and 1 column. In the modified scenario, I need to show it with 10 rows and 10 columns, where each cell shows the value that was in the original representation. In other words, I need to transform my 1D ObservableCollection to a 2D ObservableCollection and display it in the DataGrid. I know how to do that programmatically in the code behind, but can it be done in XAML? Let me simplify the problem a little, in case anybody can have a crack at this. The XAML below does the following: * Defines an XmlDataProvider just for dummy data * Creates a DataGrid with 10 columns o each column is a DataGridTemplateColumn using the same CellTemplate * The CellTemplate is a simple TextBlock bound to an XML element If you run the XAML below, you will find that the DataGrid ends up with 5 rows, one for each book, and 10 columns that have identical content (all showing the book titles). However, what I am trying to accomplish, albeit with a different data set, is that in this case, I would end up with one row, with each book title appearing in a single cell in row 1, occupying cells 0-4, and nothing in cells 5-9. Then, if I added more data and had 12 books in my XML data source, I would get row 1 completely filled (cells covering the first 10 titles) and row 2 would get the first 2 cells filled. Can my scenario be accomplished primarily in XAML, or should I resign myself to working in the code behind? Any guidance would greatly be appreciated.   Can anyone point me to a code example (java preferably) or psuedocode that uses recursion to return a subtree that contains all nodes with keys between fromKey and toKey. So if I was to call Tree.subtree(5,10) it should return all nodes in the BST that have keys between 5 and 10 inclusive - but I can't use loops or helper methods...only recursive calls to the subtree method, which takes fromKey and toKey as parameters.   Hi there, I'm having trouble with a query in SQL Server 2008 on some forex trading data. I have a trades table and an orders table. A trade needs to comprise of 2 or more orders. DDL schema and sample data below. What I want to do is write a query that shows the profit/loss in pips for each trade. A pip is 1/1000th of a currency. So the difference between USD 1.3441 and 1.3442 is 1 pip in forex-speak. A trade usually has one entry order and multiple exit orders. So for example if I buy 3 lots of the currency pair GBP/USD at the exchange rate of 1.6100 and then sell 1 lot at 1.6150, 1 lot at 1.6200 and 1 lot at 1.6250 then the profit is (1.6150 - 1.6100) + (1.6200 - 1.6100) + (1.6250 - 1.6100), or 50 + 100 + 150 = 300 pips profit. The trade could also go the other way (Shorting). For example the currency pair can be sold first before it's bought back later at a cheaper price. I would like a query that returns the following: tradeId, currencyPair, profitInPips It seems like a pretty straightforward query, but it's eluding me right now.
