• Can GnomeKeyring store passwords unencrypted?

  I have a Fedora 15 laptop with the root and home partitions encrypted using LUKS. When it boots I have to enter a pass phrase to unlock the master key, so I have it configured to automatically log me in to my account. However, GnomeKeyring remains locked, so I have to enter another pass phrase for that. This is unpleasant and completely pointless since the entire disk is encrypted. I've not been able to find a way to configure GnomeKeyring to store its pass phrases without encryption. For example, I was not able to find an answer here: http://library.gnome.org/users/seahorse-plugins/stable/index.html.en Is there a solution? If not, is there a mailing list where it would be appropriate to plead my case?

• Why is my nginx alias not working?

  I'm trying to set up an alias so when someone accesses /phpmyadmin/, nginx will pull it from /home/phpmyadmin/ rather than from the usual document root. However, everytime I pull up the URL, it gives me a 404 on all items not pulled through fastcgi. fastcgi seems to be working fine, whereas the rest is not. strace is telling me it's trying to pull everything else from the usual document root, yet I can't figure out why. Can anyone provide some insight?   I have nginx with php-fpm installed on Debian Squeeze. Directory tree is: /var/www/mysite index.php secret_folder_1 admin.php static.html secret_folder_2 admin.php static.html pictures img01.jpg I need to close secret_folder_1 and secret_folder_2 with basic_auth. • I can't see wordpress .php file?

  I installed WAMP server on win xp - it works. I installed Wordpress 3.4.2 into www.wordpress - no problem. In Dreamweaver CS5 I created a site with www.wordpress as root folder, and assigned a local test server - ok. In Dreamweaver, I opened twentyten theme - index.php - and pressed F12 to see the page in Firefox - and got: Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_header()... - on line 16 This is a completely new and clear wordpress installation. Why is the function (get_header) - undefined? To check the server I copied another .php file into the same folder - F12 - it works.

• Windows 8 Program Sharing?

  How do I, as the administrator, share the Skype program with a user on the same PC? I tried to download Skype to the user from the windows store that said it was blocked and I must contact the administrator. The Skype icon appears on the user desktop but with an X in the corner with no way to allow it to work as the administrator. In the administrator desktop the Skype icon appears without the x and it does work. I have tried to research this issue and so far all I have been able to find and do is the enable $admin share at this link http://www.intelliadmin.com/index.php/2012/10/windows-8-enable-the-admin-share/ Now that I have done this how do I use it to share the Skype program? • Is there a good, free way to fix broken/corrupt .wmv files?

  I've recovered some files from an hdd that weren't supposed to be deleted in the first place, but they have seeking problems/crash the players. Since they have the right size, I'm thinking it might be a problem of corrupt index/header, so I'm trying to find a way to fix them. It's easy to find examples on how to fix corrupt .avi files with mencoder, but .wmv seems trickier. Also, I realize there might not be a way to fix these files, but I figure I might as well as try. As far as players go, I've tried opening it with vlc/mplayer/windows media player. I can use anything on Windows XP/7 and Ubuntu, as long as it's free. Since the files are 200mb+ and there are quite a few, I don't think trial software would work.

  I'm designing an app for streaming video from a device (e.g. iPhone) via a server to one or more devices and have been researching Apples HTTP Live Streaming protocol. One thing that isn't clear is whether it is possible to stream live video (with audio) to the server and then have it streamed simultaneously in real time to the client devices. From reading the documentation and technical notes from Apple it seems like the index file needs to be created before the segmented video files can be served to a client. Is this right? If so maybe HTTP Live Streaming isn't suitable in this case, what other technologies or software should I consider? Thanks

• PHP pages are not parsed by Apache on CentOS

  I have installed Centos 5.x, Apache 2.2, PHP 5.3 and MySQL 5.5. I also installed phpMyAdmin. I am able to access phpMyAdmin through the browser without any issues. However, when I create a simple index.php with phpinfo() function in the default directory, that page is served without php parsing. As we all know, phpMyAdmin is a php application. This is working fine from the same server but not the simple php page from the doc root directory ??!!!. Of course, I tried moving this page into phpMyAdmin folder and tried accessing it, but no success. Please note that I updated httpd.conf file with appropriate directives based on the php installation guide. docroot - /var/www/html phpMyAdmin folder - /var/www/html/phpMyAdmin Any help is appreciated.

• Character coding problem

  I have a file named index.php which using a mysql server gets a simple username. The mysql server is running on centOS and I have two different systems running apache serving as web servers. One is my own windows pc using a "wamp" solution which uses the mysql server refereed before and the other is the centOS server itself. I use this so I can develop in my laptop and run the final on the centOS box. The problem is this: Accessing centOS box I get (on hxxp://centos): out_sider 1lu?s 2oi Using wamp on windows I get (on hxxp://localhost): out_sider 1luís 2oi The mysql database is configured correctly seeing that both use the same and I used svn repository to move files from windows to centOS so the file is the same. • Lookups targeting merged cells - only returning value for first row

  I have a master worksheet which contains data that I wish to link to another 'summary' sheet using a lookup. However, some of the cells whose data I wish to include in the summary sheet are merged across two or more adjacent rows. To be clear, the 'primary' column A that I am using in my formula in order to identify the target row does not contain merged cells, but the column from which I wish to return a value does. I have tried VLOOKUP and INDEX+MATCH. The problem is that the data is only returned for the first row's key, and the others return zero (as though the cell in the target column were blank, where actually it is merged). I have tried inelegant ways around this, e.g. using IF statements to try to find the top row of the merged cell. However, these don't work well if the order of values in the summary sheet is different from that in the master sheet, as well as being messy. Can this be done?

• If I drop my clustered PK and add a new one, what order will my rows be in?

  In SQL Server, I'm looking at TableA, which currently has a uniqueidentifier clustered primary key. The GUID has no meaning in any context. (I'll give you a second to clean up your keyboard and monitor and set down the soda.) I'd like to drop that primary key and add a new unique integer primary key to the table. My question is this: when I drop the index, modify the column from uniqueidentifier to int, and add the new clustered unique primary key to the modified column, will the new PK values be in the order of insertion into the table, or will they be in some other order? Is this the right way to go here? Will this work? (I'm kind of a noobkin with regard to table creation/modification.)

• How do I disable Windows Search Indexing Service while on battery on Windows 7?

  Since upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7, I've found laptop battery life is reduced. One issue is that the Windows Search Indexing Service is constantly running, even when on battery power. Using Resource Monitor shows it is often the top consumer of CPU time and top producer of disk activity. I imagine this is one of the primary reasons the battery is getting drained faster. I cannot find any options to tell Windows Search Indexing Service to not index while on battery power. The only solution seems to be to stop the service, and also disable the service (if you just stop it, it will restart itself after a while). Doing this gives me considerably more battery life, but it's a pain because I have to re-enable the service when plugged in again. Is there a better solution?

I select this: System -- Settings -- AddOns All I see is a list of add ons like Youtube and Railscasts. There's no option for installing from a zip file like the wiki says. Pressing ".." just takes me to the list of AddOn types like "Album Information" and "Artist Information" etc. The wiki looks to be out of date.

Adding an additional email address works... But results in Error 4, Keywords "classic" Task Get-MailboxStatistics writing error when processing record of index 0. Error: Microsoft.Exchange.Management.Tasks.MdbAdminTaskException: Mailbox 'domain/OU/account name' doesn't exist in an Exchange 2007 or later mailbox database. Management Console has the updated change, as does ADUC in 2003.

  Do the search requests made by the users influence the Google crawlers "attraction" by this keyword? Let's say Google has some hits on a specific keyword in the search index. And now I search for exactly this keyword. Will the Google crawlers react to the search and keep looking more intense for pages that could match this keyword? A reason why this could be important: Privacy when searching yourself. Assume you just want to know how much Google (and thus other people) can find out about you. If now any (statistical) additional search for your name trigger the crawlers even one step harder to find even more about you, it would have the negative effect that you would actually be found easier in the future, even though you had the intention and hope to find out how few Google finds about you. It's a bit like the dillema in quantum mechanis: Does observing the system automatically change the system?

• My images look desaturated and brighter on the iPhone than on my Mac (in PS, Pixelmator & Finder)

  I save my image in Photoshop (No Color management). I put it on the iPhone and it looks brighter and desaturated. Also my blue-green looks more like blue. I'm going insane with this because its stealing my time away and i can't fix it. Every bit of help would be appreciated! Do I have to create my own profile? Is there an easy way??

The username begins with a letter and can consists of any alphanumeric character along with an underscore, hyphen, or period. So far, the redirection has worked perfectly when I ignore usage of the period character. • compromised site

  So, I have a web site that has been compromised twice in two weeks. every index.php and .js file gets a script injecting into the source code of the file. The problem is that I have no idea how they're doing it. I've seen this done via sql injection before, but I don't know how they are actually writing to the file. I've dug through the Apache logs but didn't find anything interesting. The site is built using the cakephp framework on a godaddy shared server. Anybody know what secturity settings or log files to check to see how they are doing this?

  I am just using the standard apache config file which mentions that it follows symlinks, but when I hit the url http://localhost/test it downloads the symlink file instead of following it. What config do I need to change to get apache to follow the symlink instead of downloading it? Use 'LimitInternalRecursion' to increase the limit if necessary. Use 'LogLevel debug' to get a backtrace., referer: https://www.domain.com/vehicles/Chevrolet/Uplander/2006 The problem is when I enable LogLevel debug we get HUGE error logs because all of our traffic is SSL. From what I can tell the file doesn't record these errors anymore, either that or it's so buried in SSL logs that I just can't find them.
