• Strategies for Mapping Views in NHibernate

  It seems that NHibernate needs to have an id tag specified as part of the mapping. This presents a problem for views as most of the time (in my experience) a view will not have an Id. I have mapped views before in nhibernate, but they way I did it seemed to be be messy to me. Here is a contrived example of how I am doing it currently. Mapping <class name="ProductView" table="viewProduct" mutable="false" > <id name="Id" type="Guid"> <generator class="guid.comb" /> </id> <property name="Name" /> <!-- more properties --> </class> View SQL Select NewID() as Id, ProductName as Name, --More columns From Product Class public class ProductView { public virtual Id {get; set;} public virtual Name {get; set;} } I don't need an Id for the product or in the case of some views I may not have an id for the view, depending on if I have control over the View Is there a better way of mapping views to objects in nhibernate?

• Rotating an ImageVIew along with its original position in android in below HoneyComb versions

  I am trying rotate an ImageView along with its original location (rotating the image aswell as the view). So that After rotation, when I click on the rotated Image in its current position, it should be able clicked in the rotated location only. For this solution I am trying the following code. However it is rotating is going fine. After the rotation end I need to place the ImageView and Image in the rotated Location to make it able click over there only. But it is not going successfully. I am unable to rotated Image location axis points to place correctly. • Multiple instances of this carousel on a single page - can't get it to work

  This code comes from a tutorial so it's not originally my own work. What I am trying to do is implement this several times on a single page. I have tried and so far failed - by numbering the id "carousel" and so forth. Any help would be seriously appreciated. • Throwing cats out of windows

  Imagine you're in a tall building with a cat. The cat can survive a fall out of a low story window, but will die if thrown from a high floor. How can you figure out the longest drop that the cat can survive, using the least number of attempts? Obviously, if you only have one cat, then you can only search linearly. First throw the cat from the first floor. If it survives, throw it from the second. Eventually, after being thrown from floor f, the cat will die. You then know that floor f-1 was the maximal safe floor. But what if you have more than one cat? You can now try some sort of logarithmic search. Let's say that the build has 100 floors and you have two identical cats. If you throw the first cat out of the 50th floor and it dies, then you only have to search 50 floors linearly. You can do even better if you choose a lower floor for your first attempt. Let's say that you choose to tackle the problem 20 floors at a time and that the first fatal floor is #50. In that case, your first cat will survive flights from floors 20 and 40 before dying from floor 60. You just have to check floors 41 through 49 individually. That's a total of 12 attempts, which is much better than the 50 you would need had you attempted to use binary elimination. In general, what's the best strategy and it's worst-case complexity for an n-storied building with 2 cats? What about for n floors and m cats? Assume that all cats are equivalent: they will all survive or die from a fall from a given window. Also, every attempt is independent: if a cat survives a fall, it is completely unharmed. This isn't homework, although I may have solved it for school assignment once. It's just a whimsical problem that popped into my head today and I don't remember the solution. Bonus points if anyone knows the name of this problem or of the solution algorithm.

• Tab bar application with UINavigation Controller MOC not being retained.

  I created a tab bar application from the template and added a navigation controller to one of the tabs. I have already created this app from the navigation app template already and is working. The reason I am doing it this way is because I need to add a tab bar and thought it would be easier starting by using the tab bar project template and adding the nav controller to it rather than the other way round. I have copied the data model over from the other project and added the relevant code to where it should be. The problem I am having is passing the moc from the app delegate to the tab with the nav controller on. Here is a snippet from my applicationDidFinishLaunching method in my app delegate: - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { [self createEditableCopyOfDatabaseIfNeeded]; Top_BananaTableViewController *top_BananaTableViewController = (Top_BananaTableViewController *)[navigationController topViewController]; top_BananaTableViewController.managedObjectContext = self.managedObjectContext; // Add the tab bar controller's current view as a subview of the window [window addSubview:tabBarController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } Everything seems fine here but when it comes to the fetchedResultsController on my nav controller view it bombs out with: '+entityForName: could not locate an NSManagedObjectModel for entity name 'cards'' When I checked what was set to my managedObjectContext on that view it was null. I don't know why or where it is loosing it's setting. Please help.

In a tableView I have the following: NSDictionary *cat = [category objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.textLabel.text = [cat valueForKey:@"reference"]; This populates the tableView with the content of the array from an XML file. There is another array “data” that prints out the content to the debug console and I want to populate another view with this content. But I am having lot of trouble populating the next view with the data array. • Desktop-like UI implementations for Java web applications?

  At work we're discussing upgrading our view layer for our web application. We're currently running an old and "modified" version of FreeMarker Classic, which is a pain to work with. One of our developers suggested using a Component UI style architecture similar to desktop style environments. Essentially, this would mean that you would build custom HTML components as Java Classes that the controller would render into the Document view. This would completely take away the need to write HTML into a view layer. The Components would generate the view layer for you. For instance, the following rendered HTML: <h1>I am a title</h1> <p>I am a paragraph.</p> Would be generated by doing something like: String titleString = "I am a title"; html.elements.Heading heading = new html.elements.Heading(Heading.H1, titleString); String paraString = "I am a paragraph."; html.elements.Paragraph paragraph = new html.elements.Paragraph(paraString); PrintWriter somePrintWriter = new PrintWriter(); Document document = new Document(); document.addElement(heading); document.addElement(paragraph); document.compose(somePrintWriter); The above code is just an example, don't critique the names or style, I just wrote it for a quick demonstration of what we may be trying to accomplish. I'm trying to determine if this has been done before in Java, and if so if there are any links I can be pointed to. I've been researching it as much as I can, but haven't found any implementations that completely remove the template layer (such as JSP or JSF). Thanks!

  Hi there, I'm looking for a data structure that will act like a Queue so that I can hava First In First Out behaviour, but ideally I would also be able to see if an element exists in that Queue in constant time as you can do with a HashMap, rather than the linear time that you get with a LinkedList. I thought a LinkedHashMap might do the job, but although I could make an iterator and just take and then remove the first element of the iteration to produce a sort of poll() method, I'm wondering if there is a better way.   HTML code is: <li> <a href="#" /> <ul> <li> <a href="#"/> </li> </ul> </li> I want to delete any node under $(this) = li that is not a link. If there are more than one link, just the first one is saved, and if there are links inside the ul tag, they are not included because they are descendants and no childrens. Something like this (I am cloning and outputting html): $(this).clone().remove('not(a:first)').html(); //Assuming remove looks for "a" as a first child Does not work, so I try with this: $(this).clone().children().remove('not(a:first)').parent().html(); Does not work so I try with this: $(this).clone().remove('not(>a:first)').html(); I need the original element as a reference after removal for chaining more operations EDIT: Ok! Second one works with a little syntax correction as some appointed (:not( instead of not() but I would like to know if there is any other solution similar to the third line so I don't have to do children().remove().parent(). • Misplaced Layout after "home"-button and/or powersave screen

  Hi, I have an app which also includes a service with a Notification. Right now I am experiencing the foillowing problem : I start my app which will work fine after couple of minutes the powersave kicks in and I get a black screen I (or hte user) click the Menu-button to dismiss the black screen and to unlock the screenlock Now my (fullscreen) app will have "moved" like 30-40 pixels downwards, creating an ugly black border or hole. When I move the scrollwheel it will move up and down, and when I press the Menu button (showing my ap''s menu) it will "fix" the view... or I start my app which will work fine I press the Home button exiting the app, my service though will (correctly) keep running when selecting my service from the notification-bar I will get once again : -Now my (fullscreen) app will have "moved" like 30-40 pixels downwards, creating an ugly black border or hole. When I move the scrollwheel it will move up and down, and when I press the Menu button (showing my ap''s menu) it will "fix" the view... Any idea what the problem is ? The app is running on a ADP2 with Android 1.6 Thanks in advance ! Ok, after some testing I noticed that if I don't run the Activity on Fullscreen, but just leave the TtileBar away this won't happen... Still this is no solution to me, I want it to be fullscreen... Noticed siomething else, when I have the View with the black bar, and I press the home button it will "refresh" the View correctly just before actually going to the Home Screen :(

• Do entity collections and object sets implement IQueryable<T>?

  I am using Entity Framework for the first time and noticed that the entities object returns entity collections. Do both ObjectSet and EntityCollection implement IQueryable? I am hoping they do so that I know the queries are getting executed at the data source and not in memory. EDIT: So apparently EntityCollection does not while ObjectSet does. Does that mean I would be better off using this code? As you can see above, the GigBinder tests to see that the user has typed in an integer into the textbox with id "StartDate.Hour". If not, a model error is added to the modelstate using AddModelError. Since the gigs property gigs.StartDate.Hour is strongly typed, I cannot set its value to, for example, "TEST" if the user has typed this into the forms textbox. Hence, I cant set the value of gigs.StartDate.Hour since the user has entered a string rather than an integer. Since the Add Action returns the view and passes the model (return View(gig);) if the modelstate is invalid, when the form is re-displayed with validation mssages, the value "TEST" is not displayed in the textbox. Instead, it will be the default value of gig.StartDate.Hour. How do I get round this problem? I really stuck!

I know I can do it with nested foreach loops, but I was looking for something a little more readable. • ssrs: one static row matrix, multiple columns will not filter out nulls

  Using a ssrs 2005 matrix client side. I want to list the multiple addresses of one person, hence one row, multiple columns. The Column field is =Fields!StreetName.Value. The data details field is =First(Fields!StreetPrefix.Value) & " " & First(Fields!StreetName.Value). The datasource has a row for each address; however, some rows will have nulls since the datasource is composed of outer joins. The column grouping works, but the first column is always empty, (first 2 rows of datasource are null) addresses appear only after the empty column. I want to filter out nulls on the matrix, but its like the filter is ignored. I have also tried having the dataset return an empty string for a null streetname and setting the filter to =Fields!StreetName.Value != ="" but no difference. What am I missing?

When I want to display a contact's full name, here is what I do: NSString *fullName = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@ %@", contact.firstName, contact.lastName]; But when the firstName and/or lastName is set to nil, I get a "(null)" in the fullName string. • How can I replace a UITableViewController with a UIViewController that contains a UITableView?

  I created a new SplitView iPad project in Xcode and setup the code to populate the TableView (in the RootView on the left) with data. Now I'd like to customize the RootView to contain a DatePicker view along with the TableView, but I'm unsure how to accomplish this. Since the default RootViewController is a subclass of a UITableViewController, I couldn't add a DatePicker view to it in IB (since you can't add a DatePicker to a UITableView). The only way I understand to accomplish my goal of adding a DatePicker to the "Left" RootView is to change the RootViewController from a subclass of a UITableViewController to a subclass of a UIViewController, then I'll be able to add a view to it that contains a DatePicker view and a TableView using IB. Questions... Is this the correct approach to add a DatePicker to the "Left" RootView? If so and I change the RootViewController to a subclass of a UIViewController (instead of a UITableViewController) and add to it a TableView (along with the DatePicker), how will that affect the code I currently have in place for populating my current TableView?   I have a delphi form: and my code: when I run this form in Windows 7, I see: In design time, form had polish letters in first label, but it doesn't have them in runtime. It looks ok on Vista or Windows XP. When I set caption of second label in code, everything works fine and characters are properly encoded. First 5 codes of top label on Windows 7: 65 97 69 101 83 First 5 codes of top label on Windows Vista/XP: 165 185 202 234 140 First 5 codes of bottom label on every system: 165 185 202 234 140 Windows 7 changes encoding, why? My system settings seem to be ok. I have proper language set for non-unicode applications in control panel.
