  • <span> containing 3 overlapping images has 3x the necessary width

    Hi guys, I have a element, containing three overlapping images. Inspecting the element in Chrome shows this: <span id=?"span1">? <img id=?"img1" src=?"images/?progressbar.gif" width=?"120" style=?"position:? relative;? z-index:? 3;?">? <img id=?"img2" src=?"images/?progressbar.gif" style=?"width:? 120px;? height:? 12px;?? position:? relative;? left:? -120px;? z-index:? 2;?">? <img id=?"img3" src=?"images/?progressbar.gif" style=?"width:? 120px;? height:? 12px;? position:? relative;? left:? -240px;? z-index:? 1;?">? </span>? The important point is that the second two images are given a relative position, shifting them to the left so they perfectly overlap the first. But the span itself is still 360 pixels wide (3 x 120 pixels per image). So how can I achieve this effect while keeping the span width tightly bounded around the images? Thanks!

    I am trying to use bgiform but it seems to have no effect. The text in IE is pushed off of the screen of the dialogue box when its displayed. It works fine in FF. How can this be done in jQuery?

I set the display of the radio box to none so that it wouldn't show, gave each a unique ID.     EDIT: Related question here: Multi theme support in android app I'm attempting to get a user-chosen theme and feel like I'm frustratingly close. Defining the theme in AndroidManifest.xml works as it should, but (as best I can tell) can't change based on app preferences: <application android:theme="@style/theme_sunshine" android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name"> Alternatively, setting it dynamically in each activity also works: someChosenTheme = PreferenceManager.getDefaultSharedPreferences(this).getString("themePreference", "theme_twilight"); setTheme(someOtherChosenTheme); But that seems messy, and I'd rather set the theme for the entire app in one place. My first thought was to grab the application context as soon as my main activity launches and do it there: getApplicationContext().setTheme(R.style.theme_dummy); As best I can tell[0], this ought to do the trick, but in fact it's not doing anything--the entire app has the default Android style. The 3rd should take up the rest of the page. Eventually, I'm going to add options to hide and show the 2 columns on the left. But, why is the color purple extending all the way to the browser's left edge? I am trying to get it to start at the word "Three".

Is there some normal/best practice way of doing this with bootstrap? Yes, I do realize I can just put style="display:none" on search_results, but is that the best way to do it? It would seem to be a bit better to have a style that semantically means "initially hidden". (NOTE: The hidden or hide classes don't do this as they are !important and show(), toggle(), etc. use an inline style which does not override them, i.e. setting "hidden" as the class makes it unshowable from jQuery.)

    I've got a parent div floated left, with two child divs that I need to float right. The parent div should (if I understand the spec correctly) be as wide as needed to contain the child divs, and this is how it behaves in Firefox et al. In IE, the parent div expands to 100% width. This seems to be an issue with floated elements that have children floated right.   • CSS 100% height with padding/margin

    This has been driving me crazy for a couple of days now, but in reality it's a problem that I've hit off and on for the last few years: With HTML/CSS how can I make an element that has a width and/or height that is 100% of it's parent element and still has proper padding or margins? By "proper" I mean that if my parent element is 200px tall and I specify 100% height with 5px padding I would expect that I should get a 190px high element with 5px "border" on all sides, nicely centered in the parent element. Now, I know that that's not how the standard box model specifies it should work (although I'd like to know why, exactly...), so the obvious answer doesn't work: #myDiv { width: 100% height: 100%; padding: 5px; } But it would seem to me that there must be SOME way of reliably producing this effect for a parent of arbitrary size. Does anyone know of a way of accomplishing this (seemingly simple) task? Oh, and for the record I'm not terribly interested in IE compatibility so that should (hopefully) make things a bit easier.     Hello, I have installed Debian 5.04 Lenny on my new Intel D510MO motheboard. I fixed some issues with incorrect drive mapping (for some reason during installation my hdd was on sdb, after a restart it is under sda - fixed in grub), and now I am struggling with getting graphical enviroment up and running, I installed the graphical enviroment using the Debian installer. I am not an linux expert by any means, I assume that I need to edit the xorg.conf file. Any hints appreciated! I can connect over vnc from my windows 7 laptop and i see empty desktop with terminal window open. Seems that the xserver and gdm are running but they cant talk with my GPU. I am not sure if a can use any gui tool to configure it overthe vnc, as all I see is the terminal window, no taskbars etc. UPDATE3: My current Xorg.0.log http://pastebin.pl/18918 The graphic chipset integrated into the D510 processor is Intel 945GC

  • SSL certificate on IIS 7

    I am trying to install a SSL certificate on IIS 7. I have download a free trial certificate. After that, this is the steps what I do: Click the Start menu and select Administrative Tools. Start Internet Services Manager and click the Server Name. In the center section, double click on the Server Certificates button in the Security section. From the Actions menu click Complete Certificate Request. Enter the location for the certificate file. Enter a Friendly name. Click OK. Under Sites select the site to be secured with the SSL certificate. From the Actions menu, click Bindings.This will open the Site Bindings window. In the Site Bindings window, click Add. This opens the Add Site Binding window. Select https from the Type menu. Set the port to 443. Select the SSL Certificate you just installed from the SSL Certificate menu. Click OK. This is the step where I get the message: One or more intermediate certificates in the certificate chain are missing. To resolve this issue, make sure that all of intermediate certificates are installed. For more information, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/954755 After this, when I access the web site on its first page, I get this message: There is a problem with this website's security certificate. What am I doing wrong?

  • Windows 8 DLNA streaming of MKV files

    I have a Samsung TV that is capable of playing MKV files. The Windows DLNA Play To menu that appears when you right-click a media file does not support MKV files, but a simple trick has been to change the file extension from .mkv to .avi so the Play To context menu item would appear. At that point I could successfully stream from my computer to my TV. However, this does not appear to work in Windows 8. Doing the same thing in Windows 8 causes the Play To window to open but the file does not get played. Dragging and dropping the file in the Play To window causes it to be silently ignored. Using actual AVI, MP4, etc. files works, of course. It appears Windows 8 is now doing some kind of validation on the file that Windows 7 wasn't previously. The Play To window does not show any kind of obvious error message or warning and there is nothing in the Windows event log. So, is there a way in Windows 8 to stream MKV files to a DLNA device without converting it to another container format? I would rather not use extra third-party software, but I would consider it if it's purposefully designed for this simple case rather than a more robust "media library/server" solution.
