  • Slideshow positioning problem

    I have a javascript slideshow that works perfectly on Windows 7, Firefox, Chrome, IE 8+ (I don't have the resources to check 6 or 7) and Opera. But I've been told that when on xp with IE 7 the slidshow gets thrown off screen to the right. What could my issue be?   • CSS - image overflow tricks

    I'm stucking with some design techniques where I want to make image item box like this Where the actual image can be upto maximum height of 300px and width of 225px. The width and height of the item box including the image and the text is 190px x 190px I'm using this image http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7122/7424355198_72620895bd_m.jpg I tried using overflow: hidden for the image item to hide it's height below to show the image text.     I was trying to create a checked radiobutton by using following code in IE7. But it doesn't work. var x = document.createElement(""); var spn=document.createElement("span"); spn.appendChild(x); x.checked=true; document.body.appendChild(spn); I found that I could put x.checked=true after appendChild statement to make it work. I also noticed that when I change "radio" to "checkbox", it can be checked without changing the order of statements. I am really confused by these facts. Am I doing something wrong in the above code?

    Consider the following jsfiddle for reference: http://jsfiddle.net/apmmw2ma/ As you can see, the “inner” box (with the red border) is positioned relative to the outer’s padding-box: left:0 positions it just to the right of outer’s border, and top:100% appears to mean “100% of the content plus padding, but not the border”. Unfortunately, adding box-sizing: border-box to the outer div seems to have no effect. I want to position a child element directly below its parent’s border-box, i.e. the two borders should abut no matter how thick they are. Is this possible?

  • Passing along variable inside link works only on first word in multiple-word-variables, why?

    I have this code below. As you can see I am passing two variables along with the link. The second variabye (category) works whenever it consists of one word, but some categories are two words or more, and then on the receiving php page where I fetch the variable only the first word is fetched. Any ideas? Example: I pass along this: Rims & Tires Only this comes through: Rims $display_table .= "<a href='../ad.php?ad_id=$row[ad_id]&category=$row[category]' target='_parent'>"; Here is how I fetch it in the receiving php file (which the link is to): $cat = $_GET['category']; echo $cat; //displays only first word of multiple word categories.   • Auto height and the float issue.

    I have had this issue before and can't remember if and how I fixed it. I have to create a scenario where I have 2 DIV's floated left and right inside a parent DIV. The 2 floating DIV's have height:auto, but the parent ignores them (perfectly logical) and the background of the parent DIV can't be seen. I know what the issue is, but are there any suggestions of how to solve it? Or any alternatives, I am willing to try a new approach. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi, I creating a program which send newsletter with a background image. It works fine on Office 2000-2003, thunderbird, but the background image does not show on Outlook 2007. I read that Microsoft changed the rendering engine and did not support the background css property (it is possible but only applied to the Body). Is it achievable to create an email which will render like that : http://www.freeimagehosting.net/image.php?a7905f7d16.png on Outlook 2007 ? What is the solution ? Thank you for your help.

  • Ideas for band site, which technology to use?

    I am attempting to design and build a website for my friends band. There is minimal content to be included such as bio,news,enbemdded Audio/Visual material. My web dev expertise is average. I'm basicaly looking for inspiration, I was edging towards embedding a silverlight deepzoom xap object to add some visual stimulation, perhaps by featuring a high res photo of the bandshardware/equipment which zooms when mouseover occurs. Does anyone have any cool ideas for a central feature for this site, and which way to approact it in terms of technique (js,css,silverlight etc) If anyone has any immediate ideas which they think would be cool then I am eager to hear them! Also if anyone can link me to any cool band sites they have come across recently I would be greatful,nothing too complicated though please I will be doing all the work myself. Im want the site to be simple but have a certain wow factor!

    Hi, this is probably very simple to do, but I can't quite get it right. I have a <div> which contains two <a> tags. I would like the <a> tags to be both centred vertically and horizontally. I have set them to centre horizontally by setting the text-align:center; on the div, but can't figure out how to vertically centre them. How would I go about doing this? Thanks.

    hi, I'm looking for a columnizer plugin (making columns of my small divs). It is very important it has the following features: 1) It has to be as light as possible (if it is only css would be great, but I guess it is difficult make it work on IE then...) 2) It has to be cross-browser (I don't need IE6... IE7 and IE8 compatibility is required). 3) The divs has not to be broken. In other terms, the nodes have to be moved to next block but not splitted in 2. The nodes are div elements, they might include other divs, images and text. 4) The column have to have a fixed width and fixed margin. This means that when I resize the browser, and new columns are created (become the window becomes wider), the new columns have to rigidly keep the same width and distance between them. (margin:20px) (width:200px) Would be great to have some css.. but I'm afraid I need some jQuery plugin because I need all 4 features being supported. I found several plugins and css styleshits with very good solutions, but I couldn't find a complete one. Thanks
