• XCode File Browsing doesn't open files!

  Previously when I browsed source code files using Xcode's file browser (located on left side), clicking on a source file would open it in the right window. I must've accidentally changed some setting that stops this behavior -- now single clicking on any file doesn't do anything at all. I'd really like it to go back to the old behavior of opening the file. Any ideas? This behavior is driving me crazy. To open a source file I have to double-click and open in a separate window.

• Open source configuration framework for ASP.NET - does one exist?

  We currently have an old product written in classic asp and are about to re-write parts in ASP.NET. One big problem is that much of the cutomer-specifics within the system are hard coded. We want to split this out for specific customers by storing data in the database. Is there a quick an easy open source framework which allows me to set up some quick tables and simple UIs to allow me to change configuration items? We have 6-7 modules, and it would be nice to have the ability to have system admins gain access to a configuration area where they can set-up settings in a tabbed UI format, settings could also be set-up to allow dropdown, fields, numbers etc. The items could then be accessed via classes in C#/vb for use within the operational parts of the system. If not, I'm suprised and it might even be a good basis for a new open source project.

• RST packet sent by the server

  I am developing a client in Flash and using http req/resp to communicate with the server. For a while the session works fine and then the connection is terminated by the server. I did a wireshark sniff at the server and the last message which it sends is a RST packet. Also it happens only when I'm using IE and the server and client are in different domains. This does not happen in FireFox. I have been struggling to find a sol, till I found this thread. It's a bit old but I hope I could get some help. I am not sure if this bit of info is important but I am connecting to the server via a gateway. Any clue or suggestions for where should I look into to locate the problem ?

• Restoring Mac-bootcamp-windows-partition image to Windows machine

  Hi, I'm running Windows XP sp3 on my mac using bootcamp. Objective: I'd like to move this partition to a windows machine. This is what I tried: 1. create image using winclone 2. restore drive to disk partition on windows machine using paragon 3. reboot from new partition Results: it attempts to boot in XP (windows flag and progress bar load screen) but then gives me the old BSOD. safe mode just hangs while loading. (I then uninstalled KB977165 on a hunch, but that did nothing to help the issue.) Any ideas, advice, etc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

• Why isn't DBIx::Class::Schema::Loader creating my classes?

  I am trying to generate static schemas using DBIx::Class in Perl. The command shown below outputs a Schema.pm and no other files. Any idea what I'm doing wrong, or how to to debug this?   I'm trying to use mikel gem mail on my 2.3.5 Rails App http://github.com/mikel/mail I have it working like this. I've made a MailComHelper, made a method like this : def self.welcome(user,password) @user = user m = Mail.new m.from = '[email protected]' m.to = @user.email m.subject = 'welcome' m.body = 'The body' m.delivery_method :sendmail m.deliver! end And it works, I receive the mail. But I wish I could use the old way of calling a view ( html.erb ) file and send that code has the body. I've read the documentation but haven't found a way to do it. Has anyone found a way to do it?

I've a legacy application where data access layer consists of classes where queries are done using SqlConnection/SqlCommand and results are passed to upper layers wrapped in untyped DataSets/DataTable. Now I'm working on integrating this application into newer one where written in ASP.NET MVC 2 where LINQ2SQL is used for data access. I don't want to rewrite fancy logic of generating complex queries that are passed to SqlConnection/SqlCommand in LINQ2SQL (and don't have permission to do this), but I'd like to have result of these queries as strong-typed objects collection instead of untyped DataSets/DataTable. The basic idea is to wrap old data access code in a nice-looking from ASP.NET MVC "Model". What is the fast\easy way of doing this?

• Unable to remove package from Delphi 2005

  I needed to reinstall a package, DrRX.bpl. I removed it from the package list, and trying to install a newer version of the same package. I've replaced the old component's dir with the new one. When I open the new DrRX.bpl and click install, I get the error "Package C:\Program Files\Borland\BDS\3.0\components\rx work\output\DrRx.bpl cannot be installed because another package with the same basename is already loaded (DrRx.bpl)" I cannot find any reference to DrRX in my package list, DrRX does not appear in the Tool Palette. How do I locate where Delphi thinks this is installed, and remove it, so I can reinstall the package?

• NSFetchedResultsController doesn't fetch up the child-parent moc chain?

  I cannot find any clarification on this, so it may be a bug. Problem is, I have a series of parent-child Managed Object Context's. When I save on a child context the changes get pushed up to the parent, and I can fetch using a plain old NSFetchRequest. However, if I rely on an NSFetchedResultsController to pull these changes into a sibling context to the first, they do not see them. calling -(void)performFetch: error; doesn't seem to pull the changes either. After a restart of the app, all new data is available. My hypothesis is that NSFetchedResultsController only fetches from its current context and will not follow the chain to the persistent store. Can someone please set me straight here? Am I going to have to use notifications to monitor changes on other contexts? and finally, is this mentioned somewhere in the doc's? I cannot find it for the life of me.

  Anybody got any experience in mapping a domain to an MVC area? Here's our situation: Old system (still active but will soon redirect to new store): www.example.com - our main site where we send traffic store.example.com - our store site which is a completely separate site that is indexed in google New system: www.example.com - same site as before www.example.com/store - new store site - built in an ASP.NET MVC area Because store is a separate domain google gives it a separate entry in the search results. I'd like to keep this benefit in future but wondering whether or not there is a good way to map a domain (store.example.com) to the MVC area or if its just going to be more trouble than its worth. PS. I'm not trying to keep existing indexing - its a completely separate store so thats not possible. I just want to redirect to the corresponding page in the new store. I'm just trying not to lose the benefit of two domains for SEO purposes.

  Hello, I'm having some problems with the module urlrewriter.net for ASP.NET. I have a multilingual site with a URL like this; ~/home.aspx To support languages I use this rewrite rule; <rewrite url="~/de-DE/(.*)" to="~/$1"></rewrite> Then in my code I get the de-DE part and set the right culture for the current thread. All of this works well. After I login on the website I get a message "Hello, user x" to show i'm logged in. When navigating to another page, it doesn't display this message anymore and it seems like the page comes from the cache or something with the old (not logged in) data. Also, when I attach the debugger, nothing is executed for this request. If I visit the page like ~/home.aspx instead of ~/de-DE/home.aspx, does problem does not occur. What could be the problem here?   My team is currently using VS2005 with the following development PCs that are a few years old: XP, Pentium D 2.8GHz, 2GB RAM. My gut tells me that this is going to be poor hardware for VS2010 development. I am not running VS2010 beta but I am running Blend 3 beta and the performance is bad. Can you point me to anything that I can show my boss to convince him to buy 6 new machines for my team? Edit below after initial answer from Jon: I should have added that my boss wants to upgrade current machines with new hard-drives so I am trying to use this opportunity to take a look forward and see if a HD upgrade is really worth it. This HD upgrade would not just be simple installation of 2nd drive but would replace current drive and would involve backup/restore or reinstallation headaches. There would be the added benefit of 64bit development too, something that we have been talking about.

• After rich:extendedDataTable sortby,otheractions are not getting executed

  My requirement is I have several tabs and one of the tabs uses rich:extendedDataTable. If sortby is clicked in the page where table is used and if I navigate to another page, it looks for the bean of the old page and throws an error saying that sortyBy of the column is undefined. For eg if iused sortBy on userId in tab1( where the table column must have had sortBy=#{data.userId}) and then i click on tab2 , it looks for the data.userId and thorws an error. I am using richfaces 3.2.2SR1 version. can you help me on this.

  I'm having problems with cache, I think. I have a website in Joomla, and I have some .css (layout.css, position.css, .... ) and I have at home of the website, 3 buttons, I tested in localhost, and when I see the home well, I upload everything to production, to my server. Now, I just edited some styles of these buttons, for example, the width, in order to see them better...but I'm having a problem with the cache, because sometimes I see them with new changes, but other times I see with the old styles.....I realized that this happens especially with chrome Could you help me, please?   I am dealing with an old application which uses struts 1.2. And for some reason, we are using pure html form to submit to struts action. For example: for the content output of testAction.do, I try to submit to itself. item 1 item 2 Then I associate an form bean TestForm with testAction. I am not sure how to specify the properties in the form so that it take the value from myitem1 after user click "submit" I tried to add getMyitem1(), setMyitem1(String[] items), getSelectedMyitem1(), setSelectedMyitem1(String[] items) Those set methods are only called when page are loaded. I guess my understanding of ActionForm in struts 1.x must be wrong. Please advise, thanks.

• Can I get a PTypeInfo from a string?

  This is probably going to be a "no", but is there any way I can use Delphi's RTTI, either old-school or the 2010 extended RTTI, to pass in a string containing the name of a type, specifically the name of an enumerated type, and have it give me the PTypeInfo for that type? I've looked through RTTI.pas and TypInfo.pas and I don't see any function that would do that, but I might have missed something. What I'm looking for: var info: PTypeInfo; begin info := GetTypeInfoFromName('TComponentStyle'); end; Or something like that. Thing is, the name of the enumerated type would be passed in; it wouldn't be known at compile time.

• Re-binding an ajaxForm after content re-loads with ajax (jQuery 1.4.2)

  I'm trying to figure out why this is a problem when using jQuery 1.4.2 and not 1.3.2. • Is is better to store serialized data or raw html in mysql?

  I de-normalized my database, since the application was crawling otherwise, and Im storing a list of categories for each item in the DB as a raw html version, and simply echoing it out in my design. Each category is actually a link, which is include a tag. Naturally, this is abit of a pain, especially if I want to change the look of how the category links are displayed, since I gotta update all the old cached entries. What if I were to store this data as a serialized array instead, and simply unserialize it, and then apply formatting to it in php. Would there be a significant performance decrease over simply echoing out the raw html?

• Attributed strings in UITableViewCells without WebView?

  Hello, does anyone know if there's a way in with 3.0+ to display attributed strings within a UITableViewCell without using a UIWebView for that? I need to display a string with linked, tappable substrings as the typical detailTextLabel. I wouldn't mind exchanging this UILabel against another type of view, but I think a UIWebView could be just too slow when rendering a table with hundrets of cells. Or does someone have opposite experiences here? So my question is: what's the best way to achieve mixed strings in a very large table without a great performance hit? I searched for this almost a whole day now, but I can only find old posts mentioning that there's no attributed string on the iPhone (outdated, as this was pre-3.0) and/or saying that they use a UIWebView for that. But really, I don't think this would perform very well on large tables, would it? Many, many thanks in advance Arne

The old input for text looks like this: <input type="text" value="Search this website..." name="s" id="searchbox" onfocus="if (this.value == 'Search this website...') {this.value = '';}" onblur="if (this.value == '') {this.value = 'Search this website...';}" /> Now I need to Have the attr 'name' as 'q', like so: <input type="text" value="Search this website..." name="q" id="searchbox" onfocus="if (this.value == 'Search this website...') {this.value = '';}" onblur="if (this.value == '') {this.value = 'Search this website...';}" /> The odd thing is that when I swap the name over to q, I'm unable to clear the search box on focus. Am I missing something super easy?

• Record locking problem between linux and Windows

  I need to run a bunch of old DOS FoxPro / Clipper applications in linux under DOSEMU. The programs access their "databases" located on a network server (could be a Windows or Linux server) Actually, the programs ran fine, but I cannot manage to make the record locking work as supposed: I can run a program in two terminals (or the server and any terminal for instance) and lock the same record in both. Now, I'm using Tiny Core Linux as terminal and Windows XP as server, accesing the shared files via CIFS and the latest DOSEMU (1.4.0), but I tried with various combinations of server (Ubuntu 7 to 9, Damn Small Linux, XP) <- protocol (CIFS, samba, various versions of smbclient) <- client (same as server) with no luck I tried to configure the server part to work without oplocks in samba (after reading the entire O'Reilly Samba book locking chapter in http://oreilly.com/catalog/samba/chapter/book/ch05_05.html ) and in XP (\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters\UseOpportunisticLocking = 0) but the problem persist. • How to make scipy.interpolate give a an extrapolated result beyond the input range?

  I'm trying to port a program which uses a hand-rolled interpolator (developed by a mathematitian colleage) over to use the interpolators provided by scipy. I'd like to use or wrap the scipy interpolator so that it has as close as possible behavior to the old interpolator. A key difference between the two functions is that in our original interpolator - if the input value is above or below the input range, our original interpolator will extrapolate the result. If you try this with the scipy interpolator it raises a ValueError. Consider this program as an example: import numpy as np from scipy import interpolate x = np.arange(0,10) y = np.exp(-x/3.0) f = interpolate.interp1d(x, y) print f(9) print f(11) # Causes ValueError, because it's greater than max(x) Is there a sensible way to make it so that instead of crashing, the final line will simply do a linear extrapolate, continuing the gradients defined by the first and last two pouints to infinity. Note, that in the real software I'm not actually using the exp function - that's here for illustration only!

  Please, look at this example. I intend making horizontal layout with pure html/css, don't bother of old browsers. I made it with display: table technique. But displaying main text containers (light-yellow) became a problem. Each of this has overflow: hidden to prevent vertical scroll. Later, I intend adding some shadow effect at the bottom. Now, I want to make in, for example, 80% height with 10% margin top and bottom. But what I get is container with larger text stretching all parents container (light-green), so 80% of it became too much. Is there any way to avoid it without javascript? Maybe I can get text container any height, but with some margin at the bottom. I will appreciate any solution.
