encrypting passwords in a python conf file on a windows platform

Hello all. I have a script running on a remote machine. db info is stored in a configuration file. I want to be able to encrypt the password in the conf text so that no one can just read the file and gain access to the database. This is my current set up: My conf file sensitive info is encoded with base64 module. The main script then decodes the info. I have compiled the script using py2exe to make it a bit harder to see the code. My question is: Is there a better way of doing this? I know that base64 is not a very safe way of encrypting. Is there a way to encode using a key? I also know that py2exe can be reversed engineered very easily and the key could be found. Any other thoughts? I am also running this script on a windows machine, so any modules that are suggested should be able to run in a windows environment with ease. I know there are several other posts on this topic but I have not found one with a windows solution, or at least one that is will explained.

Hello, I have a simple javascript that I'd like to loop for multiple elements. Any help would be hugely appreciated! Load function in jquery

Hi, I am relatively new to jquery and would like to know why the below code wouldn't work. I am trying to access the content from a file residing on my site and not outside. Is it because I have the jquery lib loading from google and not my site? The error message that I get in IE browser is "Access Denied". Difference between screen.availHeight and window.height

Hi, I am executing the following javascript on my browser(firefox) 1.console.debug("Screen height = "+ screen.availHeight); //output 770 2.console.debug("Window Height ="+ $(window).height()); //output 210 (i am using jQuery as well) What is the difference between the two? Are units of 770 is pixels and 210 is mm ? Similarly, when I write $(document).height() and $(window).height() , there is a difference . What is the reason ?

jQuery not working as expected on HTTPS Internet explorer

When I try to run my code on any other webbrowsers apart from the Internet explorer it works fine. But when I try to run the code on Internet explorer I do get an alert box saying HERE along with an Ok button. but the problem is when I click on that OK button I do not get anything. How can i get the flash player working

Must JsUnit Cases Reside Under the Same Directory as JsUnit?

I have installed JsUnit and a test case as follows: /home/chernevik/Programming/JavaScript/jsunit /home/chernevik/Programming/JavaScript/jsunit/testRunner.html /home/chernevik/Programming/JavaScript/jsunit/myTests/lineTestAbs.html /home/chernevik/Programming/JavaScript/lineTestAbs.html When I open the test runner in a browser as a file, and test lineTestAbs.html from the jsunit/myTests directory, it passes. When I test the same file from the JavaScript directory, the test runner times out, asking if the file exists or is a test page. Questions: Am I doing something wrong here, or is this the expected behavior? Is it possible to put test cases in a different directory structure, and if so what is the proper path reference to to JsUnitCore.js? Does a jQuery selector by id always work without quotes and # sign?

I suddenly found that while using Mozilla / jQuery v1.8.2 I do not need to use the id with quotes and # sign. For example, $(bt2) works the same as $(“#bt2”), see the code below. Why ajax doesn't work unless I refresh or use location.href?

I am working on a html project, which will eventually package by Phonegap. So I am trying to encode the data from html form to JSON format, then use ajax send to a php file resides on server, and receive the response to do something else. Now I use <a href='login.html'> in my index.html to open the login page. How can I modify this piece of code to make it better?

Mystery: How does Google do cross-domain iframe communication?

Hi everyone, When you host Googles web search element on a page, a div is created which incorporates an iframe which points to a Google adsense ads page. However, if there are no ads for the specific query, Google somehow changes the class on YOUR domain to render the div (and iframe) invisible. They are NOT using postMessage, as it also works in IE7. They are also not using the fragment identifier method, as no hash appears in the url. So how do they do it? How to return a variable from a javascript function into html body.

Hi there, I am still new to javascript, and I am trying to get a function to return a variable using html & javascript. Basically the function should just return whichever radio button that the user clicks on, although at the moment I don't see anything being returned at all. How to validate user with SimpleMembership

However, since my console application doesn't have anything related to user sessions the Login method doesn't work. But is there a way to validate a user only using the SimpleMembership?
