• Spring 3 JSON with MVC

  Is there a way to build Spring Web calls that consume and produce application/json formatted requests and responses respectively? Maybe this isn't Spring MVC, I'm not sure. I'm looking for Spring libraries that behave in a similar fashion to Jersey/JSON. The best case would be if there was an annotation that I could add to the Controller classes that would turn them into JSON service calls. A tutorial showing how to build Spring Web Services with JSON would be great. EDIT: I'm looking for an annotation based approach (similar to Jersey). EDIT2: Like Jersey, I am looking for REST support (POST,GET,DELETE,PUT). EDIT3: Most preferably, this will be the pom.xml entries and some information on using the spring-js with jackson Spring native version of things.

  I'm embarking on a project in which users will author, save, and share their own maps over the web. We will provide them with a large number of feature classes, but users will effectively author their own maps, map symbologies, etc. Furthermore, they will create and edit their own feature classes, which they can both map and share with other users. The model for AGS map services seems to be: author a map in ArcMap, save an MXD/MSD, publish. I'm struggling to understand how this can help us build a dynamic web mapping platform as described above. Can anyone offer some tips on how to go about it?

  How is SAML SSO typically implemented? I've read this about using SAML with Google Apps, and the wikipedia entry on SAML. The wikipedia entry talks about responding with forms containing details of the SAMLRequest and SAMLResponse. Does this mean that the user has to physically submit the form in order to proceed with the single sign on? The google entry talks about using redirects, which seems more seemless to me. However, it also talks about using a form for the response which the user must submit (although it does talk about using JavaScript to automatically submit the form). Is this the standard way of doing this? Using redirects and JavaScript for form submission? Does anyone know of any other good resources about how to go about implementing SSO between a Windows Domain and a J2EE web application. The web application is on a separate network/domain. My client wants to use CA Siteminder (with SAML).

  Hello All, I've read previous posts like "Redirecting https requests to two different weblogic servers using the Weblogic proxy and Apache2". But I have a different situation and I don't think I'm understanding this to well. I have an Apache 2 server (server1) that will receive http request for my application. Then I have two more servers (server2 and server3) with Web Logic 9.2 runing on ports 7000 (server1) and 8000 (server2). I want the users to enter appname.domain.com and be redirected between the two web logic servers, always keeping appname.domain.com (this is hidding servername:port from URL).   Hello everybody. I'm trying to connect to the Team Foundation Server's ClientService.asmx web services. Over here, the TFS has webservices for retrieving work items, queries, metadata and more...a quite complete and useful set of information to get. My problem is that trying to access these services leads to an error: TF51313: The request ID is incorrect or not recognized I assume it has something to do with the RequestHeader Id structure. I give it a GUID inside the code I'm working on, but I don't know how correct it is...or what value it should have to begin with. Note: I can't use the TFS API/SDK because I am building a mobile application. Also an application on the TFS server side to communicate with the API and expose web services is not an option. Thanks.

  We have a WEb Service named, let's say Foo. So there is a Foo.svc file and a code behind Foo.svc.cs. We add a silverlight project and wish to use the Foo.svc services so we add a Service Reference and call it's namespace FooBar. This creates the following files : Reference.cs Reference.svcmap Foo.xsd Foo.disco configuration.svcinfo Foo.wsdl Also various *.datasource files. Over time we update the Foo.svc and add more Web Services (methods and interfaces) and the number of files in the FooBar directory is growing. I have 26 Foo(nn).xsd files in this directory - where nn = 1 to 26. My configuration.svcinfo is upto configuration91.svcinfo. My question is this? Do any of these files need to be version controlled? Can they all be deleted each time you do a build \ deploy (as long as you do an update service reference)?

  Hi all, I'm creating a centralised web product, i.e. a customer gets assigned a personal domain, for example company1.example.com or company2.example.com and can then use our service. I'm planning to integrate a jabber service into the website. I have already found a decent jabber client library which I can use for the site. I know that jabberd2 uses mysql, which is perfect because I want to use the web interface to add users, delete users, view message logs etc. However, my problem is when I have two companies or more. I would like a jabber server which can host multiple domains, i.e. jabber.company1.example.com, jabber.company2.example.com Do you have any experience of this? And do you know of a good jabber server which will do this? Any help would be hugely appreciated!

These are the ones I'm currenlty aware of: iUI CiUI UiUIKit WebApp.Net iWebKit Apple's Dashcode Application - not really a standalone library/framework, but it provides/generates JavaScript, CSS, and images that conform to the native iPhone UI metaphors. Are there any others out there? I want to make sure I'm not missing any before I make a decision. I'm only looking for client-side JavaScript/CSS solutions and building one from scratch isn't an option because of time constraints. No server-side PHP, Ruby, Python, Java, etc. solutions. • I never really understood: what is CGI?

  CGI is a Comman Gateway Interface. As the name says, it is a "common" gateway interface for everything. It is so trivial and naive from the name. I feel that I understood this and I felt this every time I encountered this word. But frankly, I didn't. I'm still confused. I am a PHP programmer. I did lot of web development. user (client) request for page --- webserver(-embedded PHP interpreter) ---- Server side(PHP) Script --- MySQL Server. Now say my PHP Script can fetch results from MySQL Server && MATLAB Server && Some other server. So, now PHP Script is the CGI? because its interface for the between webserver & All other servers? I don't know. Sometimes they call CGI, a technology & othertimes they call CGI a program or someother server. What exactly is CGI? Whats the big deal with /cgi-bin/*.cgi? Whats up with this? I don't know what is this cgi-bin directory on the server for. I don't know why they have *.cgi extensions. Why does Perl always comes in the way. CGI & Perl (language). I also don't know whats up with these two. Almost all the time I keep hearing these two in combination "CGI & Perl". This book is another great example CGI Programming with Perl Why not "CGI Programming with PHP/JSP/ASP". I never saw such things. CGI Programming in C this confuses me a lot. in C?? Seriously?? I don't know what to say. I"m just confused. "in C"?? This changes everything. Program needs to be compiled and executed. This entirely changes my view of web programming. When do I compile? How does the program gets executed (because it will be a machine code, so it must execute as a independent process). How does it communicate with the web server? IPC? and interfacing with all the servers (in my example MATLAB & MySQL) using socket programming? I'm lost!! They say that CGI is depreciated. Its no more in use. Is it so? What is its latest update? Once, I ran into a situation where I had to give HTTP PUT request access to web server (Apache HTTPD). Its a long back. So, as far as I remember this is what I did: Edited the configuration file of Apache HTTPD to tell webserver to pass all HTTP PUT requests to some put.php ( I had to write this PHP script) Implement put.php to handle the request (save the file to the location mentioned) People said that I wrote a CGI Script. Seriously, I didn't have clue what they were talking about. Did I really write CGI Script? I hope you understood what my confusion is. (Because I myself don't know where I'm confused). I request you guys to keep your answer as simple as possible. I really can't understand any fancy technical terminology. At least not in this case. EDIT: I found this amazing tutorial "CGI Programming Is Simple!" - CGI Tutorial Which explains the concepts in simplest possible way. I've only have one complaint about this tutorial. Just to make what ever he explained complete he should have shown the C code he used for generating response for those GET / POST requests.   The issue at hand is this. We have a web application with two different versions, a full application, and a light version of it. In it's most part the light version is a subset of the full version, which means that it uses the same web pages and references the same binaries with the full version. However, some of the pages of the full version should not be deployed with the light version obviously, and some binaries (libraries etc) need not be deployed with the full version. If it were a windows forms application we could attempt to approach the issue at hand with preprocessor directives, unfortunately this is not feasible I think.   Can someone explain to me how you would use jeditable with an ASP.NET web form (and C# codebehind). I've got a bit of experience with web forms but not very complicated stuff, and haven't used much jquery before, and this is just puzzling me. I understand how to put it in and attach it to the element you want to be editable, it's what jeditable does when you submit the text field that I don't get. How do you handle that in the webform in order to save the changed text? Hope someone understands my issue... Cheers!

• MySQL Triggers - How to capture external web variables? (eg. web username, ip)

  Hi, I'm looking to create an audit trail for my PHP web app's database (eg. capture inserts, updates, deletes). MySQL triggers seem to be just the thing -- but how do I capture the IP address and the web username (as opposed to the mysql username, localhost) of the user who invoked the trigger?
