• Caspol, VMs, Mapped Drives, VS2010

  Hi I have a VM (Win7 32 bit) with VS2010 installed. I have a drive mapped into it from the host machine (VM 64 bit), when I have some of my VS2010 projects and to where I am building them. One of my projects is looking to load an assembly. If I copy that assembly to a local drive, the program ruins fine. If I leave it on the mapped drive, then I get an error Exception is: FileLoadException - Could not load file or assembly 'file:///Z:\BusinessTier\bin\Debug\BusinessTier.dll I am unsure whether or not I need to run Caspol. There is another post on SO which pointed me to a post which indicated that VS2008 SP1+ removed the need for caspol wrt network drives, but I wondered if I still needed to because I am in a VM. I have tried running the following on the host machine in an attempt to give permissions to VS inside the VM, but to no avail C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30128>caspol -m -ag 1.2 -url file://g:\* FullTrust where g:* is the drive being mapped into the VM (as drive z:) What am I missing (apart from understanding!) • architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application?

  I am using JDBC to connect to my microsoft access database. I get the following exception when I try to connect to the database: java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application I am using 64bit windows7, and I am using eclipse which is also a 64bit version My database is a microsoft access database and it seems that the driver is a 32bit driver which is causing the problem. I read somewhere that microsoft has not released a 64bit driver for microsoft access! Any help on how to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

  I had this problem when I created a Window (Smartgwt) and put a DynamicForm (Smartgwt) in this Window, In this DynamicForm, I have a CanvasItem (Smartgwt) in which I put a RichTextArea (GWT). And when I press "ESC", I can quit the Window (Smartgwt) without probleme. But when I press "F5" to refresh my application, the browser pops up a exception saying "com.google.gwt.user.client.ui.AttachDetachException". To solve this problem, I do the following: public class MailWindow extends Window { public MailWindow(){ this.addCloseClickHandler(new CloseClickHandler() { public void onCloseClick(CloseClientEvent event) { form.getRichTextArea().removeFromParent(); MailWindow.this.destroy(); } }); } } Which solved my problem! :) Kewei

  When using SqlCommand to call a stored proc via RPC, it looks like it is possible to call a stored proc in a database other than the current database. e.g. : string storedProcName = "SomeOtherDatabase.dbo.SomeStoredProc"; SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand(storedProcName); cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; I'd like to make my DAL code more restrictive, by disallowing potential calls to another database. One way might be to check if there are two periods (dots) in storedProcName above, and if so, throw an exception. Any other ideas/approaches ? Thanks.

• Problem updating BLOB with Hibernate?

  hi, i am having problem updating a blob with hibernate. (i am using Hiberante 3.3.1-GA) my model have these getters/setters for hibernate, i.e. internally i deal with byte[] so any getter/setter convert the byte[] to blog. I can create an initial object without problem, but if I try to change the content of the blob, the database column is not updated.   I am trying to process with Proguard a MS Windows desktop application (Java 6 SE using the SWT lib provided by Eclipse).   I need to read and write data from an Excel spreadsheet. Is there a method to finding out how many rows/columns a certain worksheet has using ExcelPackage?   I want the properties section of the Castle config to be included from another file. I.e: <castle> <include uri="file://properties.config" /> </castle> The properties.config would then look like: <properties> <smtp>10.10.10.10</smtp> <username>john</username> </properties> I can get the include to work for components but not for properties. If I try to do this with properties I get an exception thrown. Is this a limitation of Castle?

• Failed to create feature receiver object from assembly/FileNotFound...

  During solution deployments & Feature activation, I am facing an on/off issue where the system is unable to find & load the FeatureReceiver class. Mostly it is file not found exception (even though the assembly is there in the GAC). I checked over the net and this seems it a common issue with solutions (wsp) packaging DLL to be GACed. (But, no one has any clue or solution!) What is the recommendation and guideline to fix this issue? We are setting the flag to reset IIS in my solution definition - but that does not seem to help. The issue is more prevalent in multi-M farms. Thanks

  I have the column DateTimeExpired, and I would like to create another column called "Expired" which will show "Yes" or "No" according to the expiration date - "Yes" if the date has already passed. • running VisualStudio CF3.5 apps on WINCE

  Hi, I am trying to write a program for a chinese PNA device with wince 5.0. But everytime I write a simple program in VS8 with C# and 'deploy' it to my device it just doesn't run. First it complains about disposing an object call menu, although I don't want an menu but VS8 just creates one for me. If I delete the menu from the form the program gives an exception. I installed a program call MIOPocket on the PNA with has powertoys some games and MS media player. It also creates a directory .net framework 3.5 so I known 3.5 is installed and must be working. But I think I am missing something. I am also not sure what to choice as target device ; windows mobile or WINCE. If I click the .exe file under win7 it works but under wince its a no go. Maybe someone has a clue what is going wrong ?

• Can someone explain ORA-29861 error in plain english and its possible cause?

  I have an application implemented in Grails framework using underlying Hibernate. After it runs for a while, I got an Oracle DB error and resolved it by rebuilding the offending index. I wonder if anyone can propose the possible cause(s) and ways to prevent it from happening. As a side note, in case I'm doing this all wrong, I would like to be able to make changes to the .Bids list without incrementing Version. I saw an example on Ayende's blog that did what I wanted with properties.
